Hey Brett, great breakdown about how badly the Bills have been at stopping the run! One little hiccup is that you called out the Rams backup safety Taylor Rapp at 11:30 for getting caught in traffic, when I believe that you were talking about Bills nickel corner Taron Johnson instead.
Man this is why football is my favorite sport, I love the little complexities that you just don't see watching live most of the time. When you really breakdown a game, it shows how much is really going on, great video Brett.
As a Rams fan, I'm very happy to have McVay as our HC. And the best coaches are the ones who can continue to improve his knowledge of the game and able to be honest about his own strength and weakness. That's why videos like this makes me appreciate McVay even more.
True. We once had an offensive genius named Mike Martz. And like every great offense, after about 25-30 games... defenses started figuring out how to stop it. Then they copied each other. Martz never adjusted. In fact, if something failed, he would do it again and again out of arrogance. Sean McVay knows that to be a real head coach, you must always be adapting.
kewlman2006 They don’t hate the Cowboys per se everyone hates their fans. They have a reputation for being extremely obnoxious and having a superiority complex combined with an boundless optimism despite their team routinely under performing.
GREAT work as always Brett. You are easily my favorite NFL analyst. You do a great job of breaking down the game & making it very easy to understand. Sean McVay is one of the forgotten top 10 head coaches honestly. I think when the Rams went on the super bowl run & lost he got too much credit for their success. & when it came last years struggles he got too much blame for the struggles. He ain’t quite an elite head coach like some might of thought he was but he is VERY CLOSE. & let’s be real his worst season so far is a 9-7 season. That’s pretty darn good especially considering the division he plays in. He does need to be better at making adjustments on the fly but this guy is still one of the best coaches in the sport. I would also love to play for him if I was an NFL player! Keep up the great work Brett 🔥
As a Ravens fan who was humbled by the Chiefs on week 3 I needed to listen to the message on 13:25. Hope we can learn a lot from that defeat. Once again a great video Brett, I enjoy your analysis and breakdowns. Keep up the amazing content my friend, you have a fan in Honduras
The Chiefs had a stinker against a bad team in the Chargers last week - Therefore they turned it on against you... If they'd played like they did against the Chargers you'd have won. One bad game doesn't mean anything - You have the possibility to make up for that in the Play-offs remember and I for one would much prefer to see the Ravens in the Superbowl than the Chiefs :)
Fran Ohmsford yes will we won’t make it to the super bowl if our team doesn’t know how to play from behind. If we play the chiefs we have to understand that trailing by a few points doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world
Chiefs lead the score in all three games against Ravens, so Lamar and Co had to pass more and run less. If defense only needs to focus on Lamar's passing game, Ravens' offense sacres nobody.
Yeah I snatched him up in the fantasy draft. Feeling pretty proud about it lol. All jokes aside, he really does look like the RB of the future. I'm just glad they found someone after the whole Gurley ordeal.
Andy Gygi I mean it’s a division rivalry game and they play eachother twice a year so it’s not like the browns are horrible and they only see the Ravens every now and then. Besides, the Ravens lead 32-11 all time series and only lost 4 times to the browns throughout the whole 2010’s decade. The last 2 being in the 2018 season and 2019 season. Don’t let recency bias form your opinion brother 💜
As a Texans fan, he would do why Bill O'Brien needs to be fired first. And everyone besides Jets brass knows Adam Case need to go. Don't really need a video on dat.😂
Great analysis and editing! Thanks for making this video. So many great points about McVay. They can be applied to business and other sports. Specifically using motion right before the snap. You want to give your opponent as many decisions as possible. Eventually the likelihood is he will make worse decisions over time because of such a time compressed environment and decision fatigue. Additionally making sequences with those calls. Once the defense gets used to something create additional plays that looks similar to the previous place but allow you to exploit. I don’t know where I heard this. But it’s like the quote. “The way to read the enemies mind is to give him the script to read from.”
I appreciate you breaking down a play call for us piece by piece - is there a resource out there that explains any/all (or at least most?) conventional play calling terminology for us to look at and learn? Additional question: if motion is so favorable (in terms of shifting run defenders with misdirection, identifying coverages), what exactly prevents offenses from using it nearly ALL the time to their benefit? I learned a lot this video - thank you!
Great stuff Brett. I’ve always been a fan of the mismatches Baltimore creates with motion in both the run and pass game. It’s cool to see McVay use it to ramp up his already brilliant playcalling
It's just incredible how nearly all the plays come from the same few formations. Absolutely amazing how McVay can call a counterplay every time this way. Thanks Brett for this fantastic video, appreciate it a lot.
Excellent diagramming of plays. I loved the full explanation on what each word in the Tiger left play meant. Very complicated concepts were explained in a way even I could understand. :p
Can we just stop and thank @Brett Kollmann for making these incredible videos. It is amazing to pick up and learn on these differences and appreciate great players, coaches, and football. Keep up the amazing content!
Great video! As a Ravens fan (and someone who loves to watch football every week but is not very knowledgeable on the X's and O's of football) I'd love to see a video about why the Ravens seem to unravel in big games(Titans game last year, Chiefs game last week). To a somewhat casual fan like me, it looks like they start to abandon the running game and panic when they get behind, but I'm sure there's a more complex reason behind their struggles, and I'd love to gain a better insight.
Sean McVay is the king of the classic Madden technique of using one look for multiple plays. Just like with the QB option playbooks that are popular in high school and college, if you can show the defense 1 look but have a half dozen places the ball can go, it forces them to play conservatively or get annihilated
Brett kollmann wow thanks mate. I was wondering what had happen to the bills D. From tv analyst i was thinking they were having a bad game. But wow mcvay is back i like this as a NFL fan

Would love a vid on Matt LaFleur, but then again, I don't want any type of jinx lol. But he is doing similar things to McVay with all the pre snap motions
I am glad I grabbed Woods. Volume is the name of the game and the occasional touchdown is icing on the cake. Woods is my WR1 while waiting for AJ Brown to come back from injury/the Titans to come back from COVID-19
Love your content, I wish my coaches went this in depth on concepts please, keep it up, I look forward to your videos and I wish you had the time and energy to go over every game every week lol
Something I'm curious about if you seen in your film study Brett is a trend of teams using 00 Personnel more and using that to throw quick game more often. I feel like last year that was barely a thing but in these past few weeks I'm seeing that personnel more from a number of teams.
He's a frickin' true genius football coach! He has revolutionized that profession. There should college or professional programs to teach coaching!!!! Hope he goes to Chicago. He would be perfect in Chicago.
Incredible stuff as always man. I love learning about the intricacies of what goes on during the games and you are by far and away my main source for that!
I have a good feeling that the Rams will succeed and make a deep playoff run this year. McVay is scheming better for Goff on bootlegs, play-action and giving him and the receiving core plenty of routes. Goff is also getting better at checking his options, reading defenses, and reacting to blitzes/pressure. The use of motion presnap, a three pronged RB attack and a better O-line is helping the overall offense thrive
Rams have been running this stuff since Mcvays first year. He adjusted the offense due to Goffs poor play in 2019 out of the spread, and, or empty sets. To say he ran more jet motion in 2020 because of the Ravens is quiet a leap. How do you know that's what happened? The Rams ran more 12 per to protect Goffs short comings. The pass game turned more horizontal then vertical. He also switched to more 12 because teams were catching on to the 11 stuff. I'm sure he has picked up something from the Ravens along with many other teams. But not to the extent you are saying or rather imagining.

Lol the jet used to have so competent hc ,but jet owner, head offices, and media scare them alway example bill marcell have to retire to get out, billcheck quit after one day, brex Bryant got crew over by the gm. The jet and brown tend to fire their hc only one or two year in when most other organization give their hc aleast 3 year.
Love your breakdowns Brett, you're one of the best football teachers I've experienced. I'm even going to try to show this video to my wife to teach her to appreciate football more :D
Both the ravens and rams run the west coast offense so even though they look different much of what they do is actually the same. This makes installing a “patch” like this much easier
Love seeing this after my Steelers showed some baby steps in getting more creative with motion and misdirection against the Texans. I doubt Randy Fichtner will ever join the ranks of the top offensive minds, but one can always dream.
This offense really clicks when the run game is good and the O-line is protecting, last year we saw both of those things regress horribly, but they've bounced back this year and it's taken a lot of pressure off of Goff, who's having a solid year so far, still maybe not worth the contract he got, but he's living up to his extension better than a certain OTHER QB from his draft class...although that guys O-line and receiving group is damaged to hell so gotta cut him some slack
Got my ass whooped in madden once by a guy who ran motion at the snap nearly every play and I adopted that into my offense ever since. Never knew I was pulling a Sean McVay
Saban needs to adopt some of this because their run plays ain't cutting it as of late, especially when you have the amount of talent at RB and O-line that he does.
Seattle and LA look dominant on offense. SF are the defending SB champions and are led by a great coach. Arizona looks dangerous for the first time in a while. The NFC West is wild.
This proves that we made a good choice on McVay. He's not scared of adjusting after eating some humble pie like he did vs the ravens. Fisher would never change. That guy was hard-headed as they came, especially when it had to do with his predictable high school offense.
As a bills fan, mcvay is a genius. They hurry up to the line and he calls out everything to Goff before the headset cuts out, and all his throws were wide open crossers. Goff had to make like 2 tough throws the entire game
11:36. taylor rapp plays for the rams not the bills lol. Wrong #24 safety. I noticed since Taylor Rapp is one of my favorite players and was confused for a second there.

This is some of the best analysis I’ve ever seen.
Aye I think you meant taron Johnson on the Darrell Henderson outside cut. Not Taylor rapp, who plays for the rams
He must've learned frm the beat down last season on MNF where the ravens played the rams, good analysis vid as always
The way McVay talkes makes him seem like a knockoff Jon Gruden
I get PJ Fleck vibes, just slightly less cult leader-y.
He got his start with gruden
Marco Sandoval wasn’t that the other gruden tho
JaxonIsShy yup except it was the bum gruden
Hunter Elgren Also a lot less butt-chin, but make no mistake Mcvays definitely hiding a crimson chin under that beard.
Tree said it best: can we just revoke the NFC East's playoff birth for another NFC West team? All four have something to fear.
Yeah, and supposedely niners now are "healthier"
Love the content keep it going
Learning a lot from it
Got my ass whooped in madden once by a guy who ran motion at the snap nearly every play and I adopted that into my offense ever since. Never knew I was pulling a Sean McVay
Can you make a video on the Chargers’ change in play calling that makes them repetitively blow double digit leads late?
These break downs are so good, that I used them in madden.
Saban needs to adopt some of this because their run plays ain't cutting it as of late, especially when you have the amount of talent at RB and O-line that he does.
Hey man. Just got the news BOB is out of Houston. Can you do video on your opinion and possible good replacements for him?
I would love to hear you dissect how Seattles play calls have changed this year compared to the last 10.
God this is why is love football
11:36. taylor rapp plays for the rams not the bills lol. Wrong #24 safety. I noticed since Taylor Rapp is one of my favorite players and was confused for a second there.
Great stuff as always man, I really enjoy your videos.
