@TheWhiteWhale The team blew the lead; Reid wasn't out there playing. I understand, the buck stops with the skipper, but execution of plays and schemes is solely on the players' shoulders.
throwing that ball quickly to a TE is the only best/right/textbook thing any QB should do there, Mahomes is no God and he did nothing great there. The coverage was deceiving, and the best player you can go to at that time is a TE, because, I hope you know that a TE is always a mis-match. Please ease down on this kid.. a smart DC can bring this guy crashing down to earth!
@@inappropriatecontent2589 thought so :-P but was so furious at this overblown review video.. anyways, think that my reply to your comment adds to and boosts your criticism.. ;)
@@HemanthreddySankepallyPlus you can downplay that move as much as you want. TBH, even though it should be noted that this is his first starting year, you're right that is common among great QBs. But if you look at Pat so far this year, what he's done and who he's done it against, and say he isn't spectacular, you're not a real football fan. This man has been peerless in this half a season so far and unlike last year with Smith, there's no sign of slowing down. I predicted when the season started that if he doesn't get hurt, he'd be MVP. I'm CERTAIN of that now. He is special, whether you like it or not 💯
"...when Mahomes is ON, like, REALLY ON... no matter what you do on defense, you will be wrong..." Major kudos for spotting this after four career starts.
I think one person who deserves a lot of praise for Mahomes' success is Alex Smith. Most of the time when a QB has a backup waiting in the wings they're reluctant to help them get better, but Mahomes recently acknowledged how much help Smith gave him in '17 to help him improve.
I agree. You can see how much of a help he was by the fact that they sent him somewhere where he will be the starter and get paid. But none of that matters if Mahomes isn't a rare combination of freak athlete and football junkie. Not many pick up this complex of an offense this fast.
Fuck yes. This kid had me hooked when the announcers on the KCC/OAK game said something like "and the Chiefs are out here playing Madden" when he was bombing over the top. Not gonna lie, I'm fuckin impressed. Barring a nasty injury, I think he's gonna kill over the next few seasons, without a doubt.
@@jmullentech I enjoyed that comment. As a Chiefs fan I am very excited to someone of this level of talent playing for my team! I have never seen them in a superbowl and i have been a fan my entire life(29 yrs). It is way overdue!
@@matthewlavigne115 Honestly, I've never been a Chiefs fan but looking at your depth chart this season, you guys have some powerhouses in a lot of key positions. I'd be shocked if you didn't make it to the playoffs, at the very least. You guys are definitely set up nicely for a shot at the Superbowl.
@@jmullentech i absolutely love the team we have right now.. our recieving core is amazing and our run is getting there but i still think damien williams in underrated.. now that are defense is playing they have a chance
You're wrong, us Texas Tech fans saw this coming. He's doing exactly what he did there. It's like he never left...but with better weapons now. He couldn't have gone to a better place.
@Prime Records vikings defense is fine? We gave up 6 straight scoring drives to the Bill's, we only stopped the rams once. I have watched every game every year for the last 15, and I can see something is wrong.
it is a mixture of a couple down weeks, along with playing a tough rams team. not to mention one of their best players being out, and their lb core being weaker this season. it is a simple equation, when a pressure defense cant get home points will be scored. im not saying dont worry, but i would expect the viks defense to turn it around, they have too much talent.
If i had to build my franchise with any active QB right now...it would be with Mahomes - hands down. I haven't seen talent like this since Rodgers. Bruce Arians said he has a Peyton Manning brain with a stronger arm than Rodgers. What a deadly combo.
@@Calodil stats don't mean anything. Go through the game and look at every throw. He could've had a more efficient game than he had if he made a few easy throws early. If he played well the whole game he wouldn't be fighting a double digit deficit in the first place
Davon Phillips Well, except when he led a 21-0 comeback in the final 6 minutes. Point is he usually finds a way, especially in high pressure situations.
@@2nd-place If didn't throw that no look pass to tyreke that was intercepted they could've tied or took the lead right there. If he makes that throw to damian williams on the first drive its not a three and out. Russel wilson would've made those passes and with that team the game would've never been in doubt but somehow mahomes the best qb in the league. I say he is overrated because he is on such a good team and the system makes him look better than he actually is. He is a good qb but overrated because he play for the chiefs. Deshaun kiser would proably be a good qb on that team but the guy is a backup now because he came into a rough situation on the browns. Imagine if the browns took mahomes. He wouldn't be nearly as good
Exactly people told me I was crazy and he was an overvalued project spread qb. I retorted, oh like Aaron Rodgers..Yeah I'm all-in lol and now the only thing I'm mad about was not putting him out at halftime against Tennessee last season
I think most of us were wrong about Mahomes. Andy Reid is GREAT at picking QB talent / Philly Fans remember when Donovan McNabb was Booed off the stage at the Draft because we Andy didn't take Ricky WIlliams. Andy Reid Deserves a SB I hope he gets one. He def has the team this year. BUT being a hardcore philly fan I'm used to Reid always starting out good and getting to the playoffs and Never getting over that hump.
That's why they shipped Smith and went with Mahomes. He's the hump-buster. It started with beating Pittsburgh, a hurdle we couldn't overcome for years.
From what I have heard, Jimmy G doesn't have half the work-ethic Mahomes has. And he doesn't have the football IQ Mahomes has either, just look at the play he got hurt on for proof of that. Reid has stated that it will take a good 3 years before he has a total grasp on his offense. Think about that. What is this guy gonna do when he gets to that point? Scary for defenses for years to come.
That's absolutely part of it as well. They are gonna have to pay Hill next year. I just hope they can keep them all together during Mahomes's rookie contract. Just like Seattle with Wilson. Get a SB first few years.
Its amazing to see this kid's football intelligence. Having the ability to translate it to the football at such a high level of processing speed in only this 4th game of his career. SCARY for the other NFL teams.
I remember watching Mahomes play my CFB team LSU in college. We are known for good Pass D. When we played in the bowlgame vs Tech in 2015..... He made some plays downfield that were insane. His downfield vision is legit. Like crazy legit. I respected him ever since that game.
Another great video Brett. Life-long KC resident and Chiefs fan. This entire off-season we've heard the Chiefs front office and coaching staff just praising Mahomes every chance they got, even Andy Reid which is more rare that he's so outspokenly honest about how good he thinks a player is and we heard teammates doing the same thing. I know you're obviously not plugged in to KC sports radio but I honestly believe most Chiefs fans did expect Mahomes to be special, that's all we've heard since he's been drafted and it goes beyond just trying to say good things about a first round pick from everybody tuned in to the Chiefs. And we all knew the weapons the Chiefs had on offense (the defense is a different story and most expected them to be bad) and the offensive mind of Andy Reid. I also had high expectations for Mahomes but I personally wasn't expecting him and this offense to be so good out of the gates. With that said, myself and many other people never doubted Mahomes talent and potential but I dont see how anybody could have predicted with any confidence for him to set the NFL record for touchdown passes through 3 games and the Chiefs looking like a generational offense. Keep up the exceptional work man
Actually, he's quite often wrong. (That's not a criticism, because at least he stands by his convictions) - He said Hackenburg was going to make it, he was pumped about Osweiler, he said Tyrelle Pryor was going to go OFF last season, he was VERY high on Isaih Oliver and other draft projects. I'm sure he won't mind these being pointed out, and he's clearly the first the admit mistakes.
@@cheyenne3026 he never said he was a bust? There's a difference between calling him a bust and saying that Brett was wrong about something, and that's because Brett said Oliver was the most NFL ready CB coming out of the draft last year. That doesn't mean that he couldn't become a great DB. But right now, there's better rookie CB's than him.
Watching this the week after Mahomes and the Chiefs won Superbowl LIV... looks pretty good on you that you released an "I was wrong video" back in 2018 lol
Haters in early 2018: "He's a flash in the pan. Defenses will figure him out." Mahomes: "Hold my beer." > 4-1 td/int ratio, takes the greatest coach and qb in history to OT with one of the statistically worst defenses ever, wins MVP. Haters in 2019: "Still not convinced. Teams have had a year to prepare for him. He'll come back to earth." Mahomes: "Hold my beer." Leads league in yards, completion percentage, yards per attempt, and qbr, with 7 tds and no ints through 2 games. Get this guy even a serviceable, middling defense, and he will bring Lombardi trophies (plural) to KC and be wearing a gaudy gold jacket in 20 years.
- Cicero difference between one of the greatest qbs in history and greatest players Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. He is one of the greatest players in history but he isn’t the greatest.
Watching this on 6/01/2024 and Patrick mahomes is a 3x superbowl champ 3x superbowl mvp and 2x league mvp and are 1 season away from winning 3 superbowls in a row
I wasn't a huge Mahomes fan either. Thought he needed real development time, and was unlikely to get it. When he was drafted by the Chiefs I was very encouraged about his long term prospects. Nothing like this though, it's ridiculous. I hope KC has showee the NFL what happens when you take a physically gifted, but raw, QB and don't immediately throw him to the fire in a crap situation. Bravo KC, bravo.
I was all in on mahomes when we drafted him, but I never thought he would look this good in his first full season. I think he'll struggle at times this season, but I can't see him regressing to bust category like every hater of the air raid offense is predicting.
@@rustyreese4006 I'm looking forward to when he plays my favorite team, the Jaguars. It'll be a huge test for both teams. I wish Mahomes all the best, but hope he shits the bed that week lol.
@@alexglenn2122 it's entirely possible that he could have a bad game that day. It's much more likely though that our defense will make Bortles look like a MVP candidate
I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure about Mahomes. I have always known about Andy’s track record with QBs, but I was also skeptical considering what happened last time the Chiefs took a QB in the first round. (Todd Blackladge). Not to mention all the QB trouble we had in-between Trent Green and Alex Smith. I held out hope that Patrick would work out. In fact I thought he looked pretty good in his first game (Wk17 Broncos). When we traded Alex I thought the Chiefs would regress in 2018 and get back on track in 2019. Boy was I wrong.
2 years in and he still hasn't had a bad game by normal standards LMAO but by Mahomes standards yeah he's had a few plus he's a SB Champ 🤣 straight beast!
Meh. Wait a little more. Mahomes is good, but i’m telling you everywhere he looks he has a hof potential/guaranteed pro-bowler within his sights. We’ll see if he’s still good once he gets the big bucks.
You're right. Most of us Chiefs fans truly never expected this beauty. 9 months later and only one season in and he has nearly done everything we could've hoped and desperately needed. Pat has brought an insane sense of pride to KC, and we will forever be grateful for him. So stoked to see what he does next season, and when he brings us our Super Bowl
Well 2018-Home conference championship loss 2019-Great Super Bowl come back 2020-Super Bowl collapse against Brady 2021 AFC championship loss to Cincinnati collapse second half he’s been amazing but it kind of sucks that he only won one ring in his first four Years as a starter when he could’ve won three
I'm from the future. He's won 2 and the best ever on track to become the greatest too 8:23 "What exactly are you supposed to do against this? Other than just build an incredible defensive line rotation and sack him before he gets the ball out" Yeah the Eagles tried that when he was on one leg, that doesn't work lol 😂 😂
R.L. HEARN they will have a better defense next season it’s impossible for their defense to get any worse than it was last year, last year was historically bad and they were still a coin flip away from going to the Super Bowl. I think completely Overhauling the defense and the entire defense of coaching staff with the exception of the head coaches son who is just moved to a different position coach, With that being said that doesn’t guarantee that the defense will be any better but with the talent that they have acquired as well as switching to the 4-3 Will definitely allow the cheese to utilize some of the defense of lineman that they had already had last year but never got a chance to showcase, Simply because they didn’t fit in the 3-4 Skiing on the fence because those three line in the front don’t just have to rush the passer most of them are responsible for dropping back in coverage and to lineman specifically that played little to no minutes last year will be in my opinion a major focal point in establishing dominance at the line of scrimmage, Kpassagnon and Derrick Nandi Fit the new scheme way more than they fit under Bob Sutton’s defense. At them with Chris Jones and Frank Clark the Chiefs should have more than a formidable defense of line, The secondary is still there weakest point at least adding the honey badger will give the defense of backs a leader that the Chiefs clearly missed when Eric Barry went down with a torn Achilles week one of the 2017 season, but still even Eric berry Could have only made so much of it and packed last year, The Chiefs don’t need a top 10 defense or even a top 15 but if they can hang around 18 or 19. They will be more than fine because there’s no excuse for an offense to score over 50 points and still lose and lose two games to the patriots were they scored over 40 both games.. Is this year’s defense can you give Mahomes an extra 3 to 4 possessions the game & be around middle of the pack in scoring defense.. I could see kc winning a few superbowls
This is a great video man, fantastic assessment of the plays as always, but also providing an understanding the Mahomes “look-offs” was a nice touch. Chiefs fans have seen what he can do for a while now, I like that the rest of the NFL are finally catching up 😉👍🏻
Watching this as the Chiefs head to the Bills in the Playoffs… Mahomes first road playoff road game. We need to see this Mahomes when the Chiefs play the Bills and we can get to AFC championship game!
Brett, I LOVE your videos and to title this "I was wrong" makes you even more the man. I love your stuff. Please keep it up and thank you so much for all of your work.
As a chiefs fan, man I gotta say GREAT ASS VIDEO!!! 1.) Major props for you admitting you missed on pat! And if I'm being 100% honest, I did have high hopes for him, but it was more based on the injunction being the Mahomes/hill combo aka (strongest arm + fastest WR ever = tds) so to the extent that mahomes is making difficult throws look like a 99 overall Qb I would create on madden.. yea nobody saw that coming! 50tds?!?! Crazy for a 2nd year starter to achieve that! Great video man you just got a new subscriber, well done!
Oh man, serious emotions welled up when you were talking about how it was good for the majority to be wrong and the minority to be right every now and then. Seriously great scripting and great video man. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks as always for the thoughtful and genuine analysis!
Also a Chiefs fan and a lifelong NFL fan. I watched Gruden's interview with Mahomes after the draft going through his career at Texas Tech and I KNEW right then and there. I had never, ever seen anything like him.
Dude I love how you break this down good shit. And that tyrek hill video you made about him needing a QB who can threw further then Alex Smith you hit basically predicted the future you got skills
9:10 I saw it coming because it was obvious. College traits that telegraphed this: 1. Brett Favre cannon and accuracy 2. Brett Favre improvisation 3. Consistent anticipatory throwing 4. Looking off defenders 5. Ability to throw accurately off his back foot, on the run, and across his body. 6. Ability to do all three of No. 5 on the same throw 7. Ability to throw accurately under pressure 8. Ability to do No. 7 and No. 6 on the same throw 9. Ability to make every throw, including throwing with touch 10. Ability to throw at multiple arm angles 11. Ability to do No.’s 10, 9, 7, and 6, and any combination, on the same throw 12. A great personal life support system that included two professional athletes I mean seriously, HOW did ANYONE not see him beig successful and potentially great based on his college tape? Literally the only question mark for him was whether he could learn to process NFL defenses utilizing a complicated NFL offense. But even that wasn’t much of a question, because unlike say, Colin Kaepernick, Mahomes can throw with touch and timing and has a lightning release when he needs one. So even when he is wrong he can still be right. Yeah I don’t get it. I saw future Brett Favre clone based on his college tape. What college film of him were you even watching? I can’t remember the last college qb I saw that had his gifts. In college.
Also note that if a college qb has just the top four of these traits he is almost certainly going to be successful in the league. In the very least he will be a sometimes starter. That’s what I don’t get. He showcased traits that any other qb might have garnered number one pick discussion about. But Texas Tech and that scheme. Stop looking at reputation and start looking at player traits.
Couldn't read a defense worth shit when it mattered in the AFC championship for 3 quarters though (time of possession 43 minutes to 20 *Pats* ) passing completion under 50% at home at Arrowhead and 0-2 lifetime vs Brady already.. Get back to me when he wins a Super Bowl
Great take and interesting that you mentioned Kaepernick as Colin like Mahomes had the luxury of learning under Alex Smith their rookie seasons. Are you a 49er fan btw? Because few people outside of that group even know that Kaepernick is extremely poor at making anticipatory throws that rely on timing and instead compensates for slow processing of the field by rifling the pass in at the last second. In doing so his passes are never with touch, hard to catch and ironically hard to catch for the defenders as well which gave Kaepernick one of the lowest INT:TD ratios in the NFL. It truly is amazing as a 49er fan watching Mahomes because he really is much, much, much better than Kaepernick whom I really had high hopes would have grown into a better player. Mahome's physical gifts combined with his cerebral cunning is a perfect homogeny of the modern elite QB. He is most like Rodgers to me minus the sloppy mechanics and footwork every now and then.
Great video I have been saying the same man he's for real! Chiefs fans have a lot to be excited about with Mahomes! I watched Mahomes play when he was at Texas Tech a few times on TV...not live Lol. He had an arm and he looked pretty good, but I had no idea he was gonna be like that Lol!
As a Chiefs fan, I'm only surprised by the rate of his growth. I wanted us to trade up to draft him, seeing as he was the best QB in the draft by far. Once we got Watkins, I knew he'd have a great year. Still, his superb decision making and surgical deconstruction of defenses is beyond what even we Mahomers expected.
As a raiders fan, seeing that happen is legit scary, but awesome at the same time for watching exciting football. Carr’s shown some flashes in the browns game that he might still be able to play at 2016 MVP caliber level. If that happens then I seriously look forward to the KC v OAK games moreso than I usually do.
1. Baker isn't just as good as Mahomes. I like Baker, but Mahomes is superior in too many areas to say Baker is just as good . 2. Baker wasn't in Mahomes' draft class, so his competition in this discussion is Trubisky and Watson, both of whom he is far better than now, and he was far better than at the time of the draft.
1. Mahomes has better velocity than Baker, which matters a lot for putting throws in tight windows in the NFL. He's a better improviser than Baker, he can make something out of nothing more often at the NFL level. He has better arm talent, meaning he can whip it from weird angles, allowing him to maneuver around defenders or his lineman. Mahomes also has the best vision I've ever seen for a young QB, his eyes are always downfield and he goes through progressions smoothly. He's taller and bigger ( I don't think this matters a ton but it could for taking hits over a career ). 2. To say he's not doing much different than Alex Smith last year is to ignore what shows up on film and what pops out to everyone's eyes and instead just point to the W-L column or a box score that tells you virtually nothing. There are literally dozens of ways he's playing way differently than Alex Smith, I can enumerate them if you'd like. 3. Baker had significantly better talent around him in college, especially having a defense that was at least sometimes respectable. Texas Tech was the worst defense in the whole FBS Mahomes' last season in college, he literally had to play perfectly to beat quality teams, and he came relatively close to doing that in the crazy OU game, and there were multiple other times he'd go for 40, 50+ and still lose. He carried that team on his back, whereas Baker provided great energy and leadership and solid QB play to an already strong team. Put Mahomes on OU and Baker on TT for that game and I don't think it's close. I really like Baker's future in Cleveland and think he's a joy to watch, but I do think Mahomes is quite a bit better than him right now and he also has a higher ceiling. Also don't think the Browns are the worst team, with a QB they're pretty decent. 4. I'm a realist too, and I think everything I've said is real and justified on the game tape. Mahomes is generationally special, I don't need to wait to see what's already in front of me.
You tell me a QB that has started 6-0 in their first 6 starts with one of the worst defenses in the NFL in his first 6 games and was forgotten. Manning's first season sucked, same with Brees. Obviously his legacy will be determined by postseason and longevity, but you can tell right now he's not gonna be a guy that fizzles out, he's too damn good. Baker is damn good too don't get me wrong, he just doesn't have that next-level arm and I don't think he'll get away with as much in the NFL as Mahomes can. He's still my third favorite young QB behind Mahomes and Wentz. Also some have compared Baker to Favre but I don't think that's a great comp. The thing Mayfield and Mahomes both have that's similar to Favre is a strong will to win and passion for the game that's obvious to anyone who watches them play football. I think that's a rare thing, and it makes me want to tune in to watch these guys play the way I wanted to watch Favre. Beyond that, I think they're all pretty different QBs. One thing I agree with: I have no choice but to wait until game time every week to tune in and watch Mahomes do stuff I've never seen before.
@KC_STRIFE sHoTz Baker is not Mahomes. Baker doesn't have the same arm strength, arm talent, or accuracy. Baker may be a slightly better runner and takes more risks. No way a teams drafts Baker before Mahomes.
I thought Mahomes would be like this year 3 or 4. Not year 2. Andy Reid gave up play calling half way in the season last year, and now Patrick Mahomes is proving dad after day he was worth the picks. The way the Chiefs changed QBs should be standard. Traded up at a pretty good value. Then they trade away Smith to offset some of that. Not to mention how good Dorsey drafted
At this point the Chiefs defense is, if I remember correctly, 4th best against the pass and 3rd worst against the run. I think the nfl put them at 13th overall.
...bro,just seeing my /our Chiefs come running out of the tunnel for the Super Bowl. ..😲,that shit would be undescribable..it's coming too, mabey not this season, but soon!!!
All us chiefs fans couldn’t be happier we have a top 3 most exciting offense to watch saints and rams are in there too but man is mahomes fun to watch❤️
rightfully so, i'd be excited too. let's not get ahead of ourselves, the chiefs will slow down before the other offenses you mentioned, but with that qb play you can score on any play. they need to invest heavily on that defense the next year or two and they are legit contenders. i worry that they will run hill into the ground before the post season tho.
I'm not completely sold on this offense yet until I see how they will do against the Rams (and maybe the Broncos this week) because I see the offensive line as far as talent goes to be the weak spot in the unit. Pat Mahomes have done a great job of disguising this weakness, but I'll take a bit of a wait and see approach.
I'm talking about personnel. They have done a nice job so far with Mahomes changing up protections and what have you to not give up too many sacks, but I'm waiting to see how well they'll fare against some of the better fronts in the league this year.
"What else are you supposed to do against this, other than just build a incredible defensive line rotation and sack him before he can get the ball out" Bucs: *taking notes*
This was a great video. The breakdown and explanation of everything was well done. Helps show the chess game that QBs have to play every game, and teams arent all just running plays totally randomly. Mahomes is a friggin beast.
Ill tell u a lil secret about the bears defense Vic Fangio is the key he is a top 3 Dc with him wade and imo mike zimmer brcause hes technically the Dc vor the vikes
JTBEARS He’s also only been sacked like 7 times for 16 yards. And half those yards came from the one play where he tried to do that San Francisco scramble & he ended up getting dropped in the backfield, that sack accounted for over half his total sack yards. Without that he’s been sacked like 6 times for 7 or 8 yards total..
I don't know how this video ended up in my feed today, but it was kinda cool viewing a 2 year old Super Bowl prediction at 8:30 that came to be in February this year.
I don't respect it. It's like accidentally saying 2+2=5. What other option do you have? Double down and keep trying to convince his audience that their logic is off and what they're seeing with their own eyes is not real? He had no other realistic option and he knew that.
I would be curious to see a Goff video. I attributed his success last year to the roster and coaching changes, and the fact that people didn't know what to expect, but after that Vikings game..... my god. Goff looked downright perfect. Tight passes with extreme accuracy on the move is very difficult for anyone, but Goff went out there and lit it up. The Rams are fucking scary.
@@SimpaticoReal it's kinda obvious that the playcalling and playmakers on that offense make Jared Goff way better than he really is. It's pretty well known that he isn't actually that good
He is showing that he improved a lot on his reads, we can't give McVay all the credits anymore. He really is becoming one of the great ones. (That's what I hope as a football fan)
I like that you return to your predictions even when they're wrong. That's the problem with so many other writers, analyst or fans. They make big bold predictions with immunity. If on the very rare occasion they actually get one right the scream it from the roof tops, they never shut up. But for all the times they're wrong...not a peep. That said I don't think you can count the Mahomes thing as no one could have nor should have predicted what he did. He was amazing. Yeah people can talk about the "system" which is run by one of the greatest offensive minds in football, or the help as he was put on a team with offensive weapons most other teams could only dream of but that can only explain part of it. After all Alex Smith never put up those numbers with the Chiefs, nor did any other Chiefs QB so he deserves the majority of the credit. But a guy throwing for 50 TD's on it's own is incredibly rare in fact so rare only 2 guys had done it before and they were Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and they did it after being in the league for a while and were in their prime. But no one should have dared think Mahomes would throw 50 TD's in his first year. It is interesting though and it's not a knock on him but it's crazy to think about the fact that he will never be able to top that (what he did year 1) not because he may drop off but rather it's just so damn difficult. Mahomes has finally completely proven that Drafts are basically crap shoots. Too often "no doubt" studs fail while guys who were slept on and drafted late go on to greatness.
Truthfully I started watching this video because it was about my Chiefs and Mahomes. But I want to thank you for the detail on why Mahomes is calling what plays. I have been a huge Chiefs fan my whole life. My son played starting at 7 years old all thru school and now is a high school coach. Yet no one has ever explained the plays in such detail that I get it! I GOT IT!!! Thank you again!
Brett great video as always. Mahomes just showcased what he can do against a very good defense in the Broncos. He pulled off his first 4th quarter comeback of his career and did it on the road in a hostile environment. He didn't have a 3+ touchdown game like earlier games but he displayed his mobility and kept his eyes downfield to make tough, awkward throws that only him and Rodgers pull off routinely. And most surprisingly to me is that he managed to again make accurate reads of the defensive coverages and not turn the ball over. This was a very good test for him and although lots of people seen the kind of talent he had coming out of college, it is as you said in your video, no one thought he would have this amount of success in just his 5th NFL game. Side note: May God have Mercy on the Chiefs Defense
This is the future speaking, and it is glorious. Six years in and the WORST outcome has been a loss in the AFC championship. Let that sink in. Mahomes has NEVER not made the AFC championship. NEVER. Also, 4 super bowls in five years, winning THREE of them. Mahomes has gone to the SUPER BOWL 66% of his seasons. And, has an opportunity to be the first in HISTORY to win 3 super bowls in a row, if they can win this coming year.
And now we're here after he won the superbowl
Fucking right chiefs kingdom baby
Waited 50 years for this .. .... Love it
We finally have our own elite GOAT level quarterback.
Yep. He was hella wrong
FireDragon Playzz I would say 90% of analysts and sports opinion writers were wrong about him. As well as 95% of NFL scouts and coaches.
I love how haters say Andy Reid isn’t a good coach and then when Mahomes scores 50 TDs blames it on Reid’s system😂
I know right at least the chiefs won the super bowl this year
It also turns out Andy just really needed a clutch QB! He finally got one and he got his ring!!
TheWhiteWhale to a degree, it’s that’s a true statement. He’s adjusted since he’s been here
@TheWhiteWhale The team blew the lead; Reid wasn't out there playing. I understand, the buck stops with the skipper, but execution of plays and schemes is solely on the players' shoulders.
@TheWhiteWhale noted
He threw that ball so hard that when Kelce caught it, it carried him into the end zone
throwing that ball quickly to a TE is the only best/right/textbook thing any QB should do there, Mahomes is no God and he did nothing great there. The coverage was deceiving, and the best player you can go to at that time is a TE, because, I hope you know that a TE is always a mis-match. I think one person who deserves a lot of praise for Mahomes' success is Alex Smith. Most of the time when a QB has a backup waiting in the wings they're reluctant to help them get better, but Mahomes recently acknowledged how much help Smith gave him in '17 to help him improve.
naw.
I agree. You can see how much of a help he was by the fact that they sent him somewhere where he will be the starter and get paid.
But none of that matters if Mahomes isn't a rare combination of freak athlete and football junkie. Not many pick up this complex of an offense this fast.
I can see that but if that's true why couldn't alex Smith do it
Freshie Because Pat Mahomes has an arm that can kill a man with one throw.

it is a mixture of a couple down weeks, along with playing a tough rams team. not to mention one of their best players being out, and their lb core being weaker this season. it is a simple equation, when a pressure defense cant get home points will be scored. im not saying dont worry, but i would expect the viks defense to turn it around, they have too much talent.

He this time around
That's why they shipped Smith and went with Mahomes. He's the hump-buster. It started with beating Pittsburgh, a hurdle we couldn't overcome for years.
He's a one year wonder. Look what happened to Jimmy G-Spot!
As a 29 year old man I'm comfortable saying that I am 100% in love with Pat Mahomes.

Keep up the exceptional work man
Damn, Brett was wrong, what’s going on here
Actually, he's quite often wrong.
He also said the Texans would make the super bowl and they're 0-3

@@cheyenne3026 he never said he was a bust? Here is the next G.O.A.T.
He has a great front line along with his receivers and backs. Would be nice if Chiefs had a defense. 😎

50tds?!?! As a Chiefs fan I can tell you many of us expected this. We saw a special talent that we knew was going to light things up.
Right the Denver game in week 17 is when I knew he was gonna be great.
Also a Chiefs fan and a lifelong NFL fan. I watched Gruden's interview with Mahomes after the draft going through his career at Texas Tech and I KNEW right then and there. I had never, ever seen anything like him.
And on his most off day ever he won a superbowl
Dude I love how you break this down good shit. And that tyrek hill video you made about him needing a QB who can threw further then Alex Smith you hit basically predicted the future you got skills
9:10 I saw it coming because it was obvious. College traits that telegraphed this:
1. Brett Favre cannon and accuracy
2. Brett Favre improvisation
3. Consistent anticipatory throwing
4. Looking off defenders
5. Ability to throw accurately off his back foot, on the run, and across his body.
6. Ability to do all three of No. 5 on the same throw
7. Ability to throw accurately under pressure
8. Ability to do No. 7 and No. 6 on the same throw
9. Ability to make every throw, including throwing with touch
10. Ability to throw at multiple arm angles
11. Ability to do No.’s 10, 9, 7, and 6, and any combination, on the same throw
12. A great personal life support system that included two professional athletes
I mean seriously, HOW did ANYONE not see him beig successful and potentially great based on his college tape?

Excellent, excellent, excellent video. Last minute (of the video before the ad) really hit home. Great stuff. Huge fan of your channel
Give this guy a top 15 defense and he'll have about 3-4 Lombardi trophies in the next 10 years barring any injuries
1 down, few more to go. 👍🏼🙌🏻
At this point the Chiefs defense is, if I remember correctly, 4th best against the pass and 3rd worst against the run. I think the nfl put them at 13th overall.
It’s the best time to be a chiefs fan 😂😂
Yes it is especially tonight after the super bowl.
This has been solidified by Kansas City winning the Superbowl and Mahomes being the youngest SB MVP
On that first play, I would never have thought of throwing into the space between three DBs!
Can I get the Rams vs Chiefs Superowl? Am I asking for too much?
Mon. Night Football game. Mark your calendar for Nov. 19th at 7:15 CST.
That's gonna be a helluva game! On neutral ground too... Mexico got lucky with that one.
...bro,just seeing my /our Chiefs come running out of the tunnel for the Super Bowl. ..😲,that shit would be undescribable..it's coming too, mabey not this season, but soon!!!
the score was 51-54 rams won but what a game that was.
David Williams I hope next year
All us chiefs fans couldn’t be happier we have a top 3 most exciting offense to watch saints and rams are in there too but man is mahomes fun to watch❤️
rightfully so, i'd be excited too. let's not get ahead of ourselves, the chiefs will slow down before the other offenses you mentioned, but with that qb play you can score on any play. they need to invest heavily on that defense the next year or two and they are legit contenders. i worry that they will run hill into the ground before the post season tho.
Ryan Sullivan you’re Tripping this offense is the real deal.
Gilgasch what are you talking about? KC has had a top 5 o line every week...?
I'm talking about personnel. They have done a nice job so far with Mahomes changing up protections and what have you to not give up too many sacks, but I'm waiting to see how well they'll fare against some of the better fronts in the league this year.
"What else are you supposed to do against this, other than just build a incredible defensive line rotation and sack him before he can get the ball out"
Bucs: *taking notes*
Lol
This was a great video. The breakdown and explanation of everything was well done. Helps show the chess game that QBs have to play every game, and teams arent all just running plays totally randomly. Mahomes is a friggin beast.
Chief called, this is it.
Always good videos with a dearth of knowledge. Quality as always Brett!
Gotta respect the ability to come out here and say "I was wrong." Few sports analysts do this.
Brett will you be making a video on Chicago's defense?
Ill tell u a lil secret about the bears defense Vic Fangio is the key he is a top 3 Dc with him wade and imo mike zimmer brcause hes technically the Dc vor the vikes
Tom W that was barely English
JTBEARS He’s also only been sacked like 7 times for 16 yards. And half those yards came from the one play where he tried to do that San Francisco scramble & he ended up getting dropped in the backfield, that sack accounted for over half his total sack yards. Without that he’s been sacked like 6 times for 7 or 8 yards total..
I don't know how this video ended up in my feed today, but it was kinda cool viewing a 2 year old Super Bowl prediction at 8:30 that came to be in February this year.
Would really enjoy seeing your breakdown of Tua from Bama. Great work and keep them coming!
4 years later and this aged GOOD
Who’s here after the chiefs won the super bowl
Two videos in a week ?keep them coming 😁😁😁
You get maaaaad props. Not even the NEWS does this anymore. When anyone is wrong they just continue like nothing happened. Big props. Big props.
Really great content. Can't go back to sleep because you released another video!
Respect for admitting you were wrong
I don't respect it. It's like accidentally saying 2+2=5. What other option do you have? Double down and keep trying to convince his audience that their logic is off and what they're seeing with their own eyes is not real? He had no other realistic option and he knew that.
skins189 lbs he could have not made a video saying he was wrong
Mahomes is easily a top 5 qb talent all time andy reid just needs to keep molding that talent into a perenial all pro
Job well done
Has to be Jared Goff/ the Rams offense next
nah.
@@XDivineSouljax 😂😂 Quit hatin. Bet you was callin him a bust his rookie year
Excellent video. Your analysis is top-notch. :)
Great Video! That’s one reason the Denver game was so close. The crowd was so loud the chiefs had communication problems in the first half.
It took 3 AFC championship games and 2 SB, but Mahomes had his first Bad Game. It might be another 3 AFC and 2SB before it happens again.
Could you do another one on Mr Mahomes, I would love to hear your take on him after a whole season.
MrFetus35 He did, but I’m sure you already know that.
that's my fantasy QB! Mahomies!
jeff vaquera Nice pick
jeff vaquera yup I drafted him and Tom Brady..... I would've never thought that I would have to bench Tom Brady.
Pat. He my holmes.
jeff vaquera i dropped brees to pick him up not regretting it
top notch video production, cheers dude.
I’m here after his third Super Bowl!
I love your Videos! Greetings from Germany! #ChiefsKingdom
As a chiefs fan this is awesome to watch
I’m a Broncos fan, and I am absolutely horrified of what Mahomes will do to us Monday night. I wouldn’t be surprised if the score is 28-7.
Naw yall can beat them
hold KC to 28? I wouldn't be surprised if they hang 50
Can we get a film room on the Goff turn around?
Jeffrey Pyne he’s been doing this since last year. Just not as big numbers
Best oline in the game and practicing against the best dline in the game sped up his development is my belief
Ya for sure I was more so wondering how he went from "bust" in the jeff fisher era to likely one of the better qbs we have seen under Mcvay
Jeffrey Pyne the issue was the Jeff Fisher era.
In overtime more less😂😂😂. Mahomes is the best
Yess, the video I’ve long awaited for!
Love it how often you upload new videos!
I saw it coming I'm a hawks fan but I love mahomes he's a STUD
