To be fair, there’s a local 5$ movie theatre that will play the first two blade movies a few times a year for about a month at a time and it’s always packed for those. Great movies. Big movie theatres should just rerun them too
Just got back from the theatre. Had an absolute blast! One of the best adaptations I've seen in a while, the studio absolutely nailed everything, the characters, the set pieces, the easter eggs, the... ok, soundtrack is decent with a few bangers, but everything else was SPOT ON! Man, so glad I went to see Sonic 2. Anyway, Jeremy, how's Morbius? :p

They really need to stop turning super villains into anti heroes. Here’s a thought, how about for villain movies instead of making them do the right thing in the end they do the wrong thing. That could be the game changer for super villain movies. Hero movies show the audience the right thing to do, while villain movies show the audience the bad thing to do
I agree. Random but It works with Cruella since it’s in its own universe but looking into the Morbius character, he should have been written as a villain without his own stand alone movie unless it’s based on him being the villain. Just an opinion so I’m not claiming I’m right but maybe this movie being 2 hours with added cut content would have helped than it’s short screen time to possibly appeal to a wider audience
I get where you’re coming from, but I feel like this wave of anti heroes in media is somewhat due to the run-of-the-mill “heroes do good, villains do bad” trope, and how it was the main plot thread for the comic movies of the 60’s and 70’s. Granted, it has been roughly half a century since the original trope was mainstream. I could see the pendulum swinging back in a decade or so. “The heroes you didn’t expect” seems to be what’s grabbing a lot of people’s attention nowadays
I'm starting to get bored of morally grey villains in movies these days. We need more villains who are just plain evil and who are really good characters.
I could imagine how frustrating is to be the editor of the movie had to rewatch those scenes together and combined all of them together knowing that it's gonna suck

I work at a movie theater and my coworkers have been talking for weeks about how this movie is gunna bring in a lot of people and how it’s gunna be so good. I just sat there and bit my tongue because ever since the first trailer I knew this movie was gunna be hot garbage and I didn’t wanna be a jerk.

When the rumors came out they were connecting venom and Andre Garfield Spider-Man that’s when it got a lot of hype, and if they did that it would of stayed that way like you co-workers said! But since Sony wants to be dumbfuks and not do the right thing, this is what happens!!
Honestly, if this movie was more like _The Fugitive_ with Morbius on the run while the cops hunt him down for feeding on people then this would have been a much more interesting comic book movie. I can't believe the writers didn't think of that.

I liked how Milo would call out “Michael!!! Michaelllll!!!” It’s a throwback reference to The Lost Boys when they were all hanging on the train tracks and Sutherlands character can be heard calling the main characters name Michael from the fog
It sounds like they nerfed Morbius just like they did in Spider-man: The Animated Series by having him not drink blood but rather, extract "plasma" from people using suckers on his hands.
At least the animated series had the decent excuse of being a primarily kids show, where he would just be making a guest appearance. But THIS! This is supposed to be HIS own movie!

Studios aiming to always get a PG-13 rating so they'll make more money is kinda lame on their part because the movies could've been more if you didn't force that on them. If Logan, Kingsman, Joker and Deadpool can make millions and records being R rated than why not let them be more than a family friendly PG-13 with a F bomb in it to justice it's rating.
I do wish studios were't so concerned about ratings at times. Sometimes the restrictions will make the creators be creative in how they show violence. But othertimes it just hampers a movie especially when it deals with something like vampires that are associated with the word blood and violence. It is funny you mention that it feels like a 2 hour movie. I said the same thing for Venom's first movie were I felt 30 minutes were cut from the movie. Obviously Sony hates 2 hour movies.
It’s a money thing. PG-13 will make them more money since kids can go see it easily. Studios, at the end of the day, care about money more than anything else.
You absolutely nailed it about the pacing. I generally complain about origin movies being too long but literally it felt like they ran through this movie. I never got situated and it still managed to be a little boring despite the fact that it was ripping and running at a rapid pace. At times, maybe because I was in Dolby the music that they played seems like too loud for the the movie. I was a bit disappointed I will say.
I hate movies that move this fast I hate it. It was like John Wick 3 which I liked but it was like set piece, to piece, to piece, fight, fight, fight. And by the end I was not invested anymore

I think it's extremely perfect that this movie is coming out at the same time as Moon Knight. Because Moon Knight is an extremely good adaptation of a niche comic book character, and Morbius is... Morbius.
I was actually pretty excited because the trailers made me think that Morbius murdered an entire ship full of people. You know, like Dracula. And he's the hero so he would have to struggle with the fact that he's a doctor and he wants to better the world but he already has innocent lives on his conscience. There would be this question of what's more important - locking him to keep others safe and punishing him for his crimes or letting him stay free because he can potentially be a really strong force for good
But Sony pulled a Sony and made it bad, I know there's an audience for the Venom movies but to me they just made their third strike and now I have no faith in any other live-action superhero movie they make.

I was looking forward to it, then I saw the reviews. Based on the initial trailers and subject matter, I suspected this would be a horror themed movie focusing on his struggle not to kill. I was thinking a more serious version of Venom with a stronger focus on the horror elements. Apparently, I was wrong.
I just watched a few clips. If the pacing was good, and someone like Chris Hemsworth played Morbius, it would have been better than Venom. The material was all there. Jared Leto played it okay here, but it's painful to watch all his expressions being the same damn thing..
Just like Venom and Venom 2, Sony makes another movie using a character that belongs in a rated r movie while trying to censor the concept of the movie so much that it's almost a PG movie trying to pretend to be PG-13. Sony either needs to make rated r movies for these characters, or choose less dark characters to adapt.
I saw Dark Phoenix as a joke, it destroyed the timeline, characters, and had 5 different movies squashed into one. I already got the tickets, but all I’m hoping to get out of it is some cool action scenes, and hopefully good scenes of internal conflict…doesn’t sound like I’ll be getting either. But I will see it and see what it’s like.
After having seen the movie...I got a little of the latter...VERY LITTLE, and then I got one cool action scene. The rest was so shit, I went in with no expectations and still came out disappointed!

I had the same thought while watching! This would’ve been great as a video game! An evil/hero scale like in injustice where you can choose which blood to drink. The combat and exploration would’ve been amazing. This had so much potential as a video game, hopefully they do it.
Morbius can't seem to catch a break when it comes to representing his vampirism. I also remember because of the heavy censorship in the 90's cartoon he wasn't allowed to feed like a vampire, instead he had these holes in his hands that "drained" life force from his victims.
Yes but that actually worked because he was still violent, left people with damage, and felt menacing. Its a cartoon and you take the good with the bad because there's a LOT more restrictions on what can be done. That's obviously changed with things like Invincible and a few other recent years becoming main stays, but 90s they didn't push the envelope at all. He looked and felt like a vampire though, and for a lot of kids that was probably one of the first vampire characters they got to see on screen
The trailer for this movie was so funny. “The studio that brought you Spider-Man: No Way Home……and Venom”. one of those things is not like the other. “The next Marvel legend” you sure? Really building yourself up here.

I think this would be the first time they trick people into watching a movie by showing stuff from the post credits scene in the trailer and also showing things in the trailer that makes them think they are connected to other movies and then they just delete it all (the Spiderman poster scene). That was insane.
I remember seeing trailers for Far From Home that showed parts of the post-credits scene (although it didn't give away the important parts, unlike the Morbius trailer), and the trailers for Venom and Amazing Spider-Man 2 both showed the ending of the movie.
@@Dittoritos if you look at the trailers they even removed Tobey and Andrew from the fight. They had both actors eating in secret on set to try and keep it from being revealed before the movie came out.
They deleted the spiderman poster scene, Oscorp building, and Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes in the main plot and just put some bits of him in post credit lol like what
If anyone wants to get the message to Sony they need to: A) Step up their quality checks with the few superhero properties they have left B) Actually produce some R-rated content for these violent characters to get butts in seats Do the right thing and vote with your wallet, don't see this trash. Venom 1 told me everything I needed to know about Sony's current "plans" with Spidey's villains.

SONY needs to look at Deadpool and Blade, and say "Hey, adults do watch comic book films. Hell, plenty of them take their kids, too". Why are they so afraid to commit to an R rated comic book film?
Because R rating doesn't bring in as much cash as PG 13. That's the primary reason. Not to mention, the people they can fool with teases that their movie might be connected to the MCU somehow.
The Batman was rated the same as deadpool in the UK also so fox, marvel and Warner Bros have all made movies that are leaning more to teenagers and adults

It shouldn't be a problem for studios to make an R Rated comic book movie as long as they done it right
I think Morbius's synthetic blood was true to the comic books, I swear I remember it, but he's supposed to start out starving for blood, driven mad by hunger... I also remember it loses its effectiveness and he had leech hands. I was actually excited for Morbius, he was one of my favorite tragic villains from the Spiderman show growing up, and I didn't know who played him so I just though "hey this looks like him", but CGI hell is one of those things that can really ruin a movie for me.

I mean Venom isn't horrific but it's not exactly a great movie series. Even if I had more faith in Sony the advertising as a Marvel movie and new Marvel hero instantly left me dubious. Then all the detailed explanations about everything, the reliance on tie-ins, nothing made it look like the movie could stand on its own.
I think he would work without Spiderman tbh. The problem is bad writers, bad directors, and Sony don't know what they're doing. Morbius is a Vampire, everything is already laid out for them. It was said Matt Smith had a hard time figuring out who his character is about.

I always try to focus on the good parts of it. This movie had 2 small good scenes which lasted seconds everything else just bad.
There's always some stupid kiss ass people that can't have a controversial thought and then we keep getting shitty movies and video games because people with no balls are always saying wow I liked the movie so much. Everything with Jared Leto is dog shit because he sucks as an actor
I remember seeing a 30 seconds to Mars poster in my friends bedroom in highschool (13 years ago) and she asked me why I kept looking at it. (I had no idea who Jarod Leto was). I pointed him out and said, that guy right there is so full of himself. I can't explain it but I instinctively knew he was shallow, full of himself and a narcissist. I'm not saying I'm right but he has yet to prove me wrong. That dude loves himself in the worst way and I'm glad the universe keeps telling him how bad he is while giving him more rope to metaphorically hang himself.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is my favourite Spider-Man movie. The fact that Sony just plucked Vulture and put him here with no regard for any of the character's details is such BS.
If it's watered down from Rated R, then I'll just expect some action flick with a decent story. Kinda like Aliens vs Predator 2004 going the same route. 😵
If the action is anything like he describes it this movie is a lot worse than AVP. At least that had well staged and properly choreographed fights the audience could follow.
It looked questionable and cringey at best from the trailers. Also, I loved Jeremy's "they re-use the same animation everytime he drinks blood like he's a video game character" reference, such a good way of putting it.
I agree completely, you took the words out of my mouth, dude. Especially the part where Morbius is flying in front of the train, in the trailer, I almost had a full on laughing fit right there. It was that bad. Also, the fact that the movie is being released on April Fools Day, so, it sounding like a lame joke of a movie in this review, doesn't really surprise me, but I am still disappointed in the movie. I expected a bit better. But I guess it's like they say, "You can try and polish a turd all you want, but at the end of the day; a turd is still a turd". But thanks to Jeremy for saving us from seeing this Living Vampire Turd. I get that Michael Morbius, The Living Vampire basically drank blood the same way in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, but that was a cartoon, edited for kids, but still enjoyed by teens and adults, and also, if the late, great, Stan Lee were still with us, I don't think he'd have let this atrocity of a "movie" happen, and would've made the movie work out great. But this movie was Blade Trinity levels bad, is what I'm guessing from the review, and although Morbius did most of this stuff in the 90s Spidey cartoon, that cartoon had a great theme song, and Morbius was ACTUALLY scary in that cartoon. Seriously, this was weak as far as Marvel characters go. Just like with Carnage; another character has been neutered, like a dog. How shameful. But I expected it to be a failure. But at least Blade had TWO good movies before Trinity ruined it. Morbius just stumbles right out of the gate, and flies straight into the screen; Smash Bros. style, and falls down, losing a stock. Try harder next time, Sony. You ruined Uncharted, Carnage; and now, Morbius, The Living Vampire. You're 3 for 3, Sony! Seems like Spider-Man is the only franchise they can't mess up... let's hope so, anyways.
@@colleen4ever And that's perfectly fine, I'm just saying, the movie Uncharted doesn't really do the games justice, if I'm being honest. As someone who's literally played every Uncharted game(except Golden Abyss, because I didn't own a Vita), the movie just doesn't work for me. Maybe it's because I'm a HUGE fan of the games, but Tom Holland wasn't really the best choice to play Nathan Drake, but he's a great actor. And Mark Wahlberg wasn't quite old enough to be Victor "Sully" Sullivan, but again, not bad casting. But Chole and Drake didn't meet each other until Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, as she was Nate's girlfriend in that game to try and help him get over the girl from the first game breaking up with him after the events of that game. Because Nathan Drake may be a treasure hunter, but he's kind of a player. But he's still a likeable guy, so I can see why they chose Tom Holland to play him. He's also got the look down, and is a handsome dude. But I don't really like video game movies. They're usually awful. But; please, ma'am, don't let someone like me ruin the movie for you; because I genuinely like seeing Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in movies, and I love the Uncharted franchise. But if you want to see this type of movie done better, I say check out the Indiana Jones Trilogy. Sorry if I may have ruined your movie going experience with Uncharted. Not my intention. But I just don't like this take on Drake. Something about it just doesn't work well with me. But hey; if you really enjoyed it, that's cool. More power to you. And you really should check out the games sometime. They're amazing.

6:32 lol! I like how Jeremy tried to best explain the climax in a somewhat positive light and then just phoned it in and was like, "naaaa they weren't fighting, just CGI, tumbling and shaky cam!" I was laughing way too hard at that.

That’s a shame, Morbius is a great comic character and has had some really good comic stories and I was really looking forward to see how they tell his story in live action, really a shame

I really do enjoy watching your reviews Jeremy. Well acted, well scripted, the pacing is on point and nicely timed injection of humour which feels appropriate for the subject matter. I'm giving this review a recommended to watch rating of 5 stars.
Just got back from seeing this film. It's actually impressive how bad this film truly is. In fact it was so bad, I genuinely walked out of the cinema for a short stroll because I was literally just sat waiting for it to end. I did go back to finish it after about 10 minutes of fresh air. I have never, ever walked out of a movie before, and this was the absolute closest I've ever been to just walking out mid film. Edit: Genuinely, if half of the characters were removed from this film, the story and film wouldn't have been any different. Every scene with the two FBI agents could be removed from the film and saved us 15-20 minutes and the film would have been the exact same. Like they are investigating what the audience already knows so there is no mystery or substance to anything they do or say. I could bash this film for hours upon hours.
And then, the 2 cops will ARREST (take note: Arrest. Not interrogate) Morbius without any due diligence simply because he’s present in the location of the victims. What kind of cops were that?
@@gritlog in batmans defense he got knocked the fuck out for HOURS and only woke up cause he felt his mask being took off by the cops. The best part was afterwards when he punched Jim Gordon after Gordon told him to To make it look like he "escaped custody" and he punched him HARD

I agree with the fight scenes being a bit naff, but on the whole I found it to be a perfectly fine film. I was neither blown away nor repulsed by it, and actually enjoyed Jared as morbious
Oh Jeremy, validating everything I was afraid of for this movie. So sad, I was really hoping this movie wasn't gonna be a bust. But, damn... Sony just needs to give the Spider-Man's characters rights back to Marvel. Or, at least, let Marvel have more of a hand in these movies. Sony clearly has no clue what they are doing. Hearing that the fight scene is a big CGI mess just reminds me of the big end battle in the first Venom movie. Just a bunch of CGI goo being mixed together. You have no clue whats happening until they break apart. Sony just proving they have no idea what to do for big CGI battles other than making them a confusing mess.
These movies shouldn't even be a thing. Maybe Venom, AFTER, he received a proper story and development with Spider-Man, but the rest of it didn't need to be pondered.

Nobody wants to live in an echo chamber but it’s hard to disagree with Jeremy, I chose to watch his reviews after I’ve seen the movie to avoid my opinion being steered but even so, I have never disagreed with a review, spot on every time!.
I will say , Jeremy has always remained faithful to how he views films. He is always honest, and won't lie. Jeremy never sold out. Unlike certain other big RUclips reviewers. That's why I always value his insight and opinions

"You dont wanna see me get angry" That's when I left
I hate when movies with amazing potential turns into a *setup* for future movies or crossovers, but this time it felt like the ending of the movie was all about that shxt. Liked the beginning enjoyed the dope effects and cgi the sound design was cool asf, HATED THE ENDING WITH A PASSION. Nice review as always. 6/10😊

Hey Jeremy, in light of that "Spider-man murderer" poster, the vulture "cameo", and the throwaway line about "the incident in San Francisco" in the trailer, I think a lot of people would be curious as to how this movie addressed (or butchered) the MCU multiverse lore. Would you make a spoilers review for this movie?
I can tell you. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the director already spoiled it in an interview. Basically, Morbius takes place in Venom’s universe. That’s it. According to the director, there _is_ a Spider-man in that universe, but we have yet to find out who it is. Now you ask, is the Vulture a variant? No. He’s the same Vulture as we saw in Homecoming. Apparently, in the multiverse mayhaps of No Way Home, people who knew Peter Parker weren’t just being thrown into the MCU, they were being thrown all over the place, and somehow Vulture ended up in Venom’s universe.

I’m confused just watched the movie, it wasn’t bad at all. Yeah they took out the spidey references but all the venom references were still in it, I thought the special effects were good enough and I enjoyed my self. Definitely better than what most people make it out to be lol.
Been watching Smallville, and was starkly reminded of how much blood is in that 20-year-old network tv series for the same age demographic as this bloodless PG-13 vampire movie.

There was so many terrible movies that you just had to put up with because there wasn't any other option. You hoped they would be good, but at least the movie came out. That's why I'm cheering the marvel train on as long as it keeps going. They're all at least ok, many of them are really good. Younger me would have killed for an ok MCU movie to come out. Now we're drowning in them, it's beautiful. Although I would like them to be less popular, so I don't have to hear people bitching about them so much. Hey, I keep my mouth shut about sports and how annoying all sports are. Wish others could do the same about comic book movies.
Eh,MCU films are at best alright. Sometimes we do get a winter soldier but that's far and few. Even Gems like Logan are not MCU. Heck DC has a consistency issue but MCU hasn't produced anything on the level of Joker or the Batman.
When they advertised this movie as the legendary Marvel character.......Uh, he was in Spidey's rogues gallery for sure, but I don't view him as this legendary villain that everyone knows.....so I had my doubts once that was said.
For me this movie got a special place in my heart. I loved this movie even tho I wished it was more horror and had more blood but still enjoyed it so much. It's probably because Morbius is one of my favorite character from MCU. Jared Leto was great as Morbius.

Just got back from the theatre. Had an absolute blast! One of the best adaptations I've seen in a while, the studio absolutely nailed everything, the characters, the set pieces, the easter eggs, the... ok, soundtrack is decent with a few bangers, but everything else was SPOT ON! Man, so glad I went to see Sonic 2.

I get where you’re coming from, but I feel like this wave of anti heroes in media is somewhat due to the run-of-the-mill “heroes do good, villains do bad” trope, and how it was the main plot thread for the comic movies of the 60’s and 70’s.
Granted, it has been roughly half a century since the original trope was mainstream. I could see the pendulum swinging back in a decade or so.

I do wish studios were't so concerned about ratings at times. Sometimes the restrictions will make the creators be creative in how they show violence. But othertimes it just hampers a movie especially when it deals with something like vampires that are associated with the word blood and violence.
It is funny you mention that it feels like a 2 hour movie. I said the same thing for Venom's first movie were I felt 30 minutes were cut from the movie. Obviously Sony hates 2 hour movies.
It’s a money thing. PG-13 will make them more money since kids can go see it easily. Studios, at the end of the day, care about money more than anything else.

You absolutely nailed it about the pacing. I generally complain about origin movies being too long but literally it felt like they ran through this movie. I never got situated and it still managed to be a little boring despite the fact that it was ripping and running at a rapid pace. At times, maybe because I was in Dolby the music that they played seems like too loud for the the movie. I was a bit disappointed I will say.
It felt like a recap episode of a tv-show... I didn't hate it, but it had... uhm... problems.
It was hard to invest any feelings for the characters because of the pacing.
I hate movies that move this fast I hate it. It was like John Wick 3 which I liked but it was like set piece, to piece, to piece, fight, fight, fight. And by the end I was not invested anymore

I was actually pretty excited because the trailers made me think that Morbius murdered an entire ship full of people. You know, like Dracula. And he's the hero so he would have to struggle with the fact that he's a doctor and he wants to better the world but he already has innocent lives on his conscience. There would be this question of what's more important - locking him to keep others safe and punishing him for his crimes or letting him stay free because he can potentially be a really strong force for good

I was looking forward to it, then I saw the reviews. Based on the initial trailers and subject matter, I suspected this would be a horror themed movie focusing on his struggle not to kill. Sony either needs to make rated r movies for these characters, or choose less dark characters to adapt.
This reminds me of Dark Phoenix and New Mutants both films that were delayed badly and no one gave a fuck when they finally came out.

I saw Dark Phoenix as a joke, it destroyed the timeline, characters, and had 5 different movies squashed into one. I had the same thought while watching! This would’ve been great as a video game! An evil/hero scale like in injustice where you can choose which blood to drink. The combat and exploration would’ve been amazing. This had so much potential as a video game, hopefully they do it.

Morbius can't seem to catch a break when it comes to representing his vampirism. I also remember because of the heavy censorship in the 90's cartoon he wasn't allowed to feed like a vampire, instead he had these holes in his hands that "drained" life force from his victims.
As I recall, Saturday morning cartoon standards wouldn't let them use the word "blood", so they always called it "plasma".
Plasma is part of your blood, so it would be pretty bad if it got sucked away.

Yes but that actually worked because he was still violent, left people with damage, and felt menacing. Its a cartoon and you take the good with the bad because there's a LOT more restrictions on what can be done. That's obviously changed with things like Invincible and a few other recent years becoming main stays, but 90s they didn't push the envelope at all.
He looked and felt like a vampire though, and for a lot of kids that was probably one of the first vampire characters they got to see on screen

I think this would be the first time they trick people into watching a movie by showing stuff from the post credits scene in the trailer and also showing things in the trailer that makes them think they are connected to other movies and then they just delete it all (the Spiderman poster scene). That was insane.

I remember seeing trailers for Far From Home that showed parts of the post-credits scene (although it didn't give away the important parts, unlike the Morbius trailer), and the trailers for Venom and Amazing Spider-Man 2 both showed the ending of the movie.
@@Dittoritos if you look at the trailers they even removed Tobey and Andrew from the fight. They had both actors eating in secret on set to try and keep it from being revealed before the movie came out.
They deleted the spiderman poster scene, Oscorp building, and Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes in the main plot and just put some bits of him in post credit lol like what
If anyone wants to get the message to Sony they need to:
A) Step up their quality checks with the few superhero properties they have left
B) Actually produce some R-rated content for these violent characters to get butts in seats

I think Morbius's synthetic blood was true to the comic books, I swear I remember it, but he's supposed to start out starving for blood, driven mad by hunger... I also remember it loses its effectiveness and he had leech hands.
I was actually excited for Morbius, he was one of my favorite tragic villains from the Spiderman show growing up, and I didn't know who played him so I just though "hey this looks like him", but CGI hell is one of those things that can really ruin a movie for me.

I remember seeing a 30 seconds to Mars poster in my friends bedroom in highschool (13 years ago) and she asked me why I kept looking at it. (I had no idea who Jarod Leto was). I pointed him out and said, that guy right there is so full of himself. I can't explain it but I instinctively knew he was shallow, full of himself and a narcissist. I'm not saying I'm right but he has yet to prove me wrong. That dude loves himself in the worst way and I'm glad the universe keeps telling him how bad he is while giving him more rope to metaphorically hang himself.

It looked questionable and cringey at best from the trailers. Also, I loved Jeremy's "they re-use the same animation everytime he drinks blood like he's a video game character" reference, such a good way of putting it.
I agree completely, you took the words out of my mouth, dude. Especially the part where Morbius is flying in front of the train, in the trailer, I almost had a full on laughing fit right there. It was that bad. Also, the fact that the movie is being released on April Fools Day, so, it sounding like a lame joke of a movie in this review, doesn't really surprise me, but I am still disappointed in the movie. I expected a bit better. But I guess it's like they say, "You can try and polish a turd all you want, but at the end of the day; a turd is still a turd". But thanks to Jeremy for saving us from seeing this Living Vampire Turd. I get that Michael Morbius, The Living Vampire basically drank blood the same way in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, but that was a cartoon, edited for kids, but still enjoyed by teens and adults, and also, if the late, great, Stan Lee were still with us, I don't think he'd have let this atrocity of a "movie" happen, and would've made the movie work out great. But this movie was Blade Trinity levels bad, is what I'm guessing from the review, and although Morbius did most of this stuff in the 90s Spidey cartoon, that cartoon had a great theme song, and Morbius was ACTUALLY scary in that cartoon. Seriously, this was weak as far as Marvel characters go. Just like with Carnage; another character has been neutered, like a dog. How shameful. But I expected it to be a failure. But at least Blade had TWO good movies before Trinity ruined it. Morbius just stumbles right out of the gate, and flies straight into the screen; Smash Bros. style, and falls down, losing a stock. Try harder next time, Sony. You ruined Uncharted, Carnage; and now, Morbius, The Living Vampire. You're 3 for 3, Sony! Seems like Spider-Man is the only franchise they can't mess up... let's hope so, anyways.

As someone who's literally played every Uncharted game(except Golden Abyss, because I didn't own a Vita), the movie just doesn't work for me. Maybe it's because I'm a HUGE fan of the games, but Tom Holland wasn't really the best choice to play Nathan Drake, but he's a great actor. And Mark Wahlberg wasn't quite old enough to be Victor "Sully" Sullivan, but again, not bad casting. But Chole and Drake didn't meet each other until Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, as she was Nate's girlfriend in that game to try and help him get over the girl from the first game breaking up with him after the events of that game. Because Nathan Drake may be a treasure hunter, but he's kind of a player. But he's still a likeable guy, so I can see why they chose Tom Holland to play him. He's also got the look down, and is a handsome dude. But I don't really like video game movies. They're usually awful. But; please, ma'am, don't let someone like me ruin the movie for you; because I genuinely like seeing Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in movies, and I love the Uncharted franchise. But if you want to see this type of movie done better, I say check out the Indiana Jones Trilogy. Sorry if I may have ruined your movie going experience with Uncharted. Not my intention. But I just don't like this take on Drake. Something about it just doesn't work well with me. But hey; if you really enjoyed it, that's cool. More power to you. And you really should check out the games sometime. They're amazing.

Just got back from seeing this film. It's actually impressive how bad this film truly is. In fact it was so bad, I genuinely walked out of the cinema for a short stroll because I was literally just sat waiting for it to end. I did go back to finish it after about 10 minutes of fresh air. I have never, ever walked out of a movie before, and this was the absolute closest I've ever been to just walking out mid film.
Edit: Genuinely, if half of the characters were removed from this film, the story and film wouldn't have been any different. Every scene with the two FBI agents could be removed from the film and saved us 15-20 minutes and the film would have been the exact same. Like they are investigating what the audience already knows so there is no mystery or substance to anything they do or say. I could bash this film for hours upon hours.
Especially when Morbius got really fast to the rooftop of the building but then Tyrell Gibson chased him in just a few seconds after. I was like 🤣
And then, the 2 cops will ARREST (take note: Arrest. Not interrogate) Morbius without any due diligence simply because he’s present in the location of the victims. What kind of cops were that?

Sony just needs to give the Spider-Man's characters rights back to Marvel. Or, at least, let Marvel have more of a hand in these movies. Sony clearly has no clue what they are doing. Hearing that the fight scene is a big CGI mess just reminds me of the big end battle in the first Venom movie. Just a bunch of CGI goo being mixed together. You have no clue whats happening until they break apart.

I can tell you. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the director already spoiled it in an interview. Basically, Morbius takes place in Venom’s universe. That’s it. According to the director, there _is_ a Spider-man in that universe, but we have yet to find out who it is. Now you ask, is the Vulture a variant? No. He’s the same Vulture as we saw in Homecoming. Apparently, in the multiverse mayhaps of No Way Home, people who knew Peter Parker weren’t just being thrown into the MCU, they were being thrown all over the place, and somehow Vulture ended up in Venom’s universe.

Great review, honest and hilarious! I was so excited for this movie. I love everything Spider-Man, but Morbius always was one of my favorites and it's really sad that Sony still hasn't mastered basic storytelling.

I’m confused just watched the movie, it wasn’t bad at all. Yeah they took out the spidey references but all the venom references were still in it, I thought the special effects were good enough and I enjoyed my self. Definitely better than what most people make it out to be lol.

I actually liked it. My only problem with the movie was things were happening a little too fast or like u said “pacing issues”

Sony is really lucky Marvel has been carrying them. Their only good movie in recent years was Into the Spiderverse.

"I hope this one's good oh it's not ok" Is the most accurate description for what it was like to be a comic book movie fan I ever heard lol. There was so many terrible movies that you just had to put up with because there wasn't any other option. You hoped they would be good, but at least the movie came out. That's why I'm cheering the marvel train on as long as it keeps going. They're all at least ok, many of them are really good. Younger me would have killed for an ok MCU movie to come out. Now we're drowning in them, it's beautiful. Although I would like them to be less popular, so I don't have to hear people bitching about them so much. Hey, I keep my mouth shut about sports and how annoying all sports are. Wish others could do the same about comic book movies.

Eh,MCU films are at best alright. Sometimes we do get a winter soldier but that's far and few. Even Gems like Logan are not MCU. Heck DC has a consistency issue but MCU hasn't produced anything on the level of Joker or the Batman.
When they advertised this movie as the legendary Marvel character.......Uh, he was in Spidey's rogues gallery for sure, but I don't view him as this legendary villain that everyone knows.....so I had my doubts once that was said.

For me this movie got a special place in my heart. I loved this movie even tho I wished it was more horror and had more blood but still enjoyed it so much. It's probably because Morbius is one of my favorite character from MCU. Jared Leto was great as Morbius.
