Boot camps a joke the entire 10 week process is a joke one day in the fleet or at buds is harder than the entire 10 week process of basic. You’ll enjoy it man.
Head PO was an official title when i went through bootcamp in 2022. I got to wear a 3rd class collar device, though i was inelligible for promotion as i was already an E3
This is fantastic information! I wish I had information like this before I went to Boot Camp in the Marine Corps. The only information I had was from watching old John Wayne movies. So when I went to Boot Camp, everything was new weird and difficult. It took me a couple weeks before I understood what was going on. Mr. RDC you are giving a great service to a future navy people I always watch your videos. I hope the Navy pays you for these informative videos. Thank you.
Hey @askardc, i was wondering about more in depth prep for becoming an RDC and i know alot of ppl will call me crazy for saying this, but I'm thinking about pursuing this as a means to be more professionally developed and knowing how to be a better person in the navy. Im 5 yrs of service at the moment and i would like to know how i can prepare myself in the long run so the next time im up for shore duty, i can apply for these orders with confidence. Thank you for your time! 👍🏻
AAR stated early that we see our RDCs from when we wake up. When I went through basic, our lead told us we had to be up and ready on the toe line by the time they entered in the morning. Was this the case for everyone?
That was my experience going through bootcamp over a decade ago as well. However, during my time as a RDC, we had an instruction that only 10 or so (exact instruction changed a few times) recruits were allowed to be out of their racks at once between taps and reveille.
With the new time in service for e4, is it still possible to get ranked up from E1 or 2 to E2 or 3 in boot camp? I know they’ve temporarily suspended MAP quotas for E3 to 34 for non ATF and PACT sailors. Also I was effectively the backup head PO and enjoyed it, despite how disgusting people are. Gave me an excuse to get away from everyone and just focus on the task at hand. Bring the education PO was one of my highlights of boot camp since it was great to host dumb game show style competitions so other recruits could learn the material for the various tests, rank and recognition, and the general orders + sailor attributes.
@@bdrlittleman Did this occur after July 1, 2024? Navadmin 168/23 changed the time in service to promote, which is why I’m wondering if the promotion advice still applies
Just In time! I ship out to Navy Bootcamp Monday.

Good luck man, I wish you well and don't give up no matter what, 10 weeks is nothing. 😃

Head PO always had priority for hygiene.
Thanks for explaining the RPOC because I saw one of the basic training graduation videos & wonder why there’d be a petty officer doing basic training.
Glad it was helpful!
If I need a root canal will they do that during processing days?

Did you ever train NSI candidates?
To midshipman? No. I have had many come through that went through ROTC and similar programs. My 2nd push RCPO was one.
