- The Worst Team To Ever Win The Super Bowl
At the end of every NFL season, inevitably, a team wins the Super Bowl. But is that team always the best one in the league? Okay, if a team wins the Super Bowl, they’re obviously great but…. some of these champions… they’re just… okay. Sometimes it’s a team that actually cheated. But the worst team to ever win a Super Bowl, it’s the only team to also have a negative point differential that season. So, who are these mediocre champions?
In today's video, we look at The Worst Team To Ever Win The Super Bowl
Ranking all 58 Super Bowl games from worst to first is a tough task, especially with some of the worst Super Bowls making us wonder which NFL teams will never win, but also pondering the worst teams to win a Super Bowl. Teams like the Giants have surprised us, while others, like those that haven't won a Super Bowl, leave fans questioning if they'll ever make it. Tom Brady, a legend in NFL Super Bowl history, stands out alongside Patrick Mahomes, showcasing the highs and lows of these epic showdowns.
"Football. Are you kidding me?!"

The Other Giants W- The Greatest Team To Not Win The Super Bowl: ruclips.net/video/O8pDEYivM5M/видео.html
As a Giants fan, being the worst team to win the Super Bowl is certainly way better than being the best team to not win the Super Bowl!
Oh yea have u seen the latest video
@@TheGridironYT Not yet but I plan to watch that too! I remember the first time the Giants beat the Patriots, I was in 8th grade, and the one substitute teacher we actually all really liked unlike the rest of them who's not even a Giants fan, actually a Raiders fan going back to the late 60s told us a few days before the big game the Giants will upset the Patriots. He predicted a higher score than 17-14 but nonetheless, he had more faith than I did and he's not even a Giants fan so I gotta give him that!
@@showtimenick824 nice! I was in 8th grade then too I’m pretty sure. One of my fav moments as a Giants fan
@@TheGridironYT So we're the same age!
@@showtimenick824 yup hitting 30 and reliving the glory days on RUclips 😂
From a record standpoint, yes, the 2011 Giants were the worst team to win the Super Bowl in NFL history. They went 9-7.
💯💯💯 and it was amazing to witness as a Giants fan
Its Still A Winning Record
It's better to be the worst champ than being the best loser.
If the Giants one day goes 7-10 and somehow squeaks into the playoffs and wins the title, I'll take it.
@@iamhungey12345 The Giants created the best loser, as well, defeating the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl 42.
@@20UnknownAs a Giant, I LOVE the phrase, “18 wins, *ONE* Giant Loss”.
Still blows me away how the giants beat the patriots twice lol. Especially in ‘07 when the patriots were putting up video game numbers each game all season lol.
Lolol next video coming out will be about the best team to not win the Super Bowl
The pressure their D-Line gave New England made all the difference both times. Eli & the offense weren't spectacular either game, but Brady got a taste of what Mahomes had to endure in 2020 with 0 offensive Line protection.
To be honest I was hoping the passing yards title jinx would remain in effect to give us a chance.
It came through.
the superbowl rigged for racial and historical purposes hence the name of the franchises.
@@TheGridironYT87 49ers should be at the top of that list.
I’ll never forget that Super Bowl, I was 11 years old in a tiny apartment in Italy watching it with my dad at like 2am, it made me into a lifelong giants fan
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Coughlin era Giants in a nutshell :
They could beat or lose to any team whatsoever in a game. For example they could beat the Packers in Green Bay one week then the next week they’d get blown out by someone like Jacksonville at home.
Streakiest team ever but I love em!
Exactly. They always played to their competition
That's the thing about winning a championship anywhere. You don't have to be the best. You just have to perform better than your opponent at that given time. Just because you're not the best doesn't mean you can't win it all and just because you are doesn't mean you can. And if the best always won there'd be no reason to compete.
Tru that
Great post!
That’s what makes Eli a HOF. He stepped up and did the “thing”. He succeeded where others have failed.
Now, let's not disrespect the Giants' accomplishment. They had to win each of their playoff games and they beat the Tom Brady led Patriots for the 2nd time. That cannot be glossed over.
💯💯 as a Giants fan I see this is as respecting them. Especially with the next video coming - Best Team to never win the Super Bowl (2007 patriots 😂)
3 times in a row
It’s actually kind of impressive to me that 7 wildcard teams have won the Super Bowl since 1980. That’s 16% of the time.
Yea I didn’t think it was that high tbh
@@TheGridironYTDon’t forget the 1969 Kansas City Chiefs as the first Wild Card to win it all. Too bad (assuming you are a Millennial or Gen Z) you probably did not do your research. The 1980 Raiders are the first Wild Card to win it in the modern NFL era since 1970.
You know the 2001 Pats' "poor" defense ranked 6th in scoring defense right?
Also in addition to the two pro bowlers the 2011 Giants had, it didn't include Cruz being chosen for second team All Pro.
Still they are an honorable mention- they wouldn’t have won without the Tuck Rule
@dironYT It doesn't change that their defense weren't as bad as the video made it out to be.
Patriot fans trying to devalue their team so they have more credit for the win 😂
@@TheGridironYTDrew Bledsoe was not the best player on the team; that honor belonged to All-Pro and future HOF CB Ty Law. He also caught a pick 6 in the Super Bowl.
4:49 Victor Cruz should've made it 3 Pro Bowlers that year. I met him 4 months after the Super Bowl.
That’s sick
JPP counting all the Giants Pro Bowlers on one hand has me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
The Brady killer 😂
Facts
I still hate that tuck rule game. It cost the Raiders a chance at the Superbowl.
Yea that rule still is mind boggling
Honestly the Steelers probably would have won.
@@iamhungey12345fuck that
don't make me laugh. They weren't beating the steelers or rams
They blew their chance in Super Bowl the next year…AGAIN😂
Gimme a break. The 1987 Redskins never would have even made the playoffs if it wasn't a strike year and the Giants didn't play half with scabs instead of players named Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms
🫠
We started the season 6-2. We were REALLY good when we turned it on. We had one of the BEST receiving crews I've ever seen in Cruz, Nicks & Manningham and they absolutely put the team on their back when it mattered. Fortunately that was in the playoffs.
Facts💯💯💯
I bet the next worst team to win a super bowl will be another Giants team
Bro that’s my name. And ye def G-men gonna upset Mahomes within the next 3 years
@@TheGridironYT Wouldn't it be funny if the end result involves 19-1?
You know what you call the worst teams to win a Super Bowl? Super Bowl Champions.
💯💯💯
That 2011 season was so much fun. I remember watching the Giants get dismantled by the Saints thinking the Packers were just going to win it all. I was so glad to be wrong
Same I was pretty hyped Giants won
2024 chiefs had wide receivers drop the ball and go from 6-1 to 9-6. They won the Super Bowl and went 11-6.
But they also have 2 potential GOATS in Mahomes and Kelce. Also that defense was strong too
Factual but they weren't the best team in the league imo.@@TheGridironYT
@@TheGridironYT They may rely on their defense a bit more going forward.
They definitely weren’t the best but I’ll tell you this when you’re team has nothing to lose and becomes a champion it’s the ride of your life as a fan because this shouldn’t be happening and it does. As a Giants fan 07 will always be my favorite but 11 was still incredible
Same- 07 was my favorite as a Giants fan, nothing beats beating the unbeaten
In today's day, the possibility of a under 500. Team winning their leagues championship is higher then ever with everyone expanding their playoffs. Can you imagine a 7-10 team winning the Superbowl? Imo it would be the absolute worst thing that could happen.
God forbid a like 79-83 baseball team won the world series. Very very possible now a days. Would probably result in a complete redo of the playoff format
It def will happen at some point
I’m surprised there’s no votes for 2005 Pittsburgh. That team was kinda lousy in my opinion
Good honorable mention
I actually think this is one of the most underrated Super Bowl teams ever
Lolol good perspective

Got u and thanks for subscribing!
As a Rams fan anything about the 2001 Patriots makes me groan 😂😂
😂😂😂
The 2012 ravens tbh.
Those giants teams had historical defenses
Historicals a strong word
@TheGridironYT held Tony Romo Brett Favre and the best offense of the modern era to 17 pts on average.
Thats historical.
@TheGridironYT then in 2011 held matt ryan aaron rodgers tom brady and(well kaepernick) to 14.8pts on average.
2002 bucs held opponents to 12.3.
2000 ravens a whopping 7.6(insane).
2008 steelers 20.3ppg.
@TheGridironYT for reference the 2013 lob held brees manning kaepernick to 13.3 ppg.
2015 no fly zone held brady a weakened big ben, and cam newton to 14.6ppg.
You're tripping 😂😂
I’ll never understand how Eli won 2 SBs and a much more talented Romo never made it out of the divisional round. That could just be me being a coping cowboys fan.
Because the cowboys are the opposite of clutch, and Eli never let the moment get too big
Eli was mediocre mostly in the first three quarters of a game, but if the games were close in the fourth, the majority of the time he would win it.
Because Romo and the Coyboys are trash
As a Bengals fan myself. I think if Bengals were to win super bowl 56 they probably (maybe or maybe not the worst) would've been one of the worse teams to win the super bowl. No matter how talented and absolutely amazing the Defense was to beat KC in AFC Championship, they've won all the playoff rounds in a huge miracle. They had a record of 10-7 before playoffs as well.
🫨
The 1980 raiders finished with the same record as the division winning chargers that year. San diego just had the tiebreaker. The chargers had their problems, too. Worst in giveaways and a bad defense. So when the raiders and chargers met in the afc championship that year, you can guess what happened
😂😂😂 true that
Correct. At that time, only 1 team was a wild card per conference. So they weren't a bad team at all.
Actually, ALL 5 of the AFC playoff teams - division winners and wild cards - in 1980 were 11-5. The only difference were the tiebreakers.
They were badasses
I would suggest that the 99 Rams were lousy, too. They went 13-3. All 3 losses came against the only 3 teams they faced with a winning record. And, in the playoffs, they benefitted from a bad call of an incomplete pass by Tampa Bay. That call is what caused all the confusing adjustments to the catch rules every since.
That’s a good one! But it was the best show on turf so didn’t even think to put them here
@@TheGridironYT not really. They were not given that nickname until a year or so later.
Eagles finished 5-11. They beat the rams
@@TheGridironYTFun fact:
In the divisional round, the Rams gave up the most points ever by an eventual SB champion.
The next week, they scored the fewest points ever by an eventual SB champion.
So it’s safe to say that they could beat you with any style of play.
Although I’m not sure if those 2 records still stand 24 years later.
This is an insane take. The 99 Rams were top 5 in both offense and defense. Had 2 legitimate MVP candidates. That is not close to "lousy."
So the worst team to a Super Bowl did so by beating the greatest team not to win the Super Bowl. Irony.
😂😂
Giants beat a guanlet of teams in the playoffs that’s season. Definitely not the worst team to win a sb
Which team is it then?
4:17 it’s funny how the giants were the worst to win the SB, yet I saw a madden video the other today where the last 14 teams to win the SB were put in playoffs and the 2011 giants won it all 😂
2011 Giants would beat anyone when it mattered most
further proof madden is unrealistic
I saw the same video it had me on the edge of my seat
@@user-jf3ru6vq6etwo times that giants beat the best team which was the patriots. What’s not said is they also beat every single top team on the road twice so it’s no surprise they won a playoffs with the best teams to win a superbowl because they ran the gantlet already twice!!!!
That is so disrespectful to call my 2011 AD Giants the worst team to ever to win the SB, but I have to agree 🙂.
Those were my Giants too. Great win🥇
@@TheGridironYT The 2008 AD SB XLII was the greatest. I used up a lifetime of Hail Mary's.

I knew at that point too that was the clinching factor for the Patriots losing this game.

80 Raiders. Eli was robbed of the regular season MVP in 2011 (the record is deceiving he was the best QB in football for that one season no question) and they had a dominant run in that postseason.
They beat one team with a winning record tho
No question?
Good video, great superbowls.
Thank you!
FYI technically the 1969 Chiefs was the first wild card team to win the Super Bowl. So the 1980 Raiders was the first non division winner Champions in the “modern post merger” era since 1970.
Potatoes tomatoes
Football is about matchups, that is where the qb comes in , Giants matched up well with the Patriots, in 2011, I wanted Giants to play 49ers, not Saints, didnt match up well. You build your roster to match up well against division and conference. Its chess not checkers

16 picks in 2011. Yeah, that's great
😂
Didn't Peyton also had picks in the same line in 2009 and 2010?
For how eli was with throwing picks, for him its good 😂
2001 patriots sb should not count because of the tuck rule . It should have been raiders vs rams
Crazy call to make in that situation
The 2001 Patriots were 6th best in points allowed, not 6th worst 🤦🏻🤦🏻.

I say 50% of the time the best team in the league wins the SB and the other 50% it's teams that have things go their way when it matters.

The key part of your title is "win". These teams WON the Super Bowl. They were Super Bowl champs and that's how people refer to them as and should refer to them as. Anyone who says the Super Bowl champ is the best team in football is a fool. The more teams in the playoffs, the greater the chance some less than stellar team is going to eventually win it. People that criticize these teams as "the worst" are often the same ones that complain not enough teams make it into the playoffs.

Besides the Giants this list is terrible.
Both those Raiders and Patriots teams were so much better than what you painted them as.
If anything this past Chiefs team was worse than both. Going 11-6 with a barley above average Offense
The Giants in 2007 were arguably worse as they finished with an inferior record of 10-6. With neither a top 10 offense or Defense.
Same deal with the 2012 Ravens who were just 10-6.
The 49ers in 1988 were also only 10-6 aswell.
Those teams by both record (Especially with their QB1s 11-3 and 9-3) and by looking at their combination of Offense and Defense were absolutely NOT the worst teams to win the Super Bowl!!

Eli is really the most clutch qb of all time
@@TheGridironYT Seriously? Because he had two extremely lucky plays against SB teams that were 23 and 15 points below their season average and Eli still barely managed to win?
Let's make this very simple. Through all those playoff games, if the opposition scored just exactly their average for the season, with what Eli did the Giants go 2-6, mostly in blowouts, and those 2 wins are by less than a point against the Bucs and 2 points against the '11 Packers. That's it. Not impressive.
