Yeah but the Broncos were huge underdogs to the 49ers and that game was widely seen as a mismatch going in, everyone expected the Broncos to lose by a lot. Against the Seahawks, the Broncos were actually favored and most people anticipated a close game.
The title he put claimed it’s the worst superbowl of all time which contradicts what he says in the video. He never once claimed it was the Super Bowl of all time, he says “it’s arguably the worst Super Bowl of all time.” Meaning Super Bowl XXIV could be worser.

Wilson threw for 206 yards because that’s the area code in Seattle(206)! Seattle is the home of the 12th man. They scored 12 seconds into both halves of the game!
This was the best super bowl outcome for fans of that era of Seahawks defense. Total dismantling of a record setting offense that nearly every analyst said would win the game.
My family attended a Superbowl party where we were the only Seahawks fans. The Broncos fans there were so confident that Denver would win handily that they were apologizing to us BEFORE the kickoff! We even had a pool going, and I was mocked relentlessly for picking Seattle to win 35-10. (Needless to say, I won the pool.) Plus, by halftime, my family were the only ones still in attendance. I still don't get tired of watching highlights of this game. Makes me smile!
That Denver offense wasn't just a great offense, it was the most prolific offense of all time. People were handing the Broncos the trophy for 2 weeks before the game was even played. The general belief was that the NFL was now an offensive league, and that the Seahawks were about to get a rude awakening when they met a truly great offensive team. Side note. The NFC championship that year was the real Superbowl. A down to the wire game with the 49ers decided by a tipped pass for an interception in the end zone to seal the game. Warren Moon was commenting and screamed like a little girl. The 49ers also had a punishing defense that also would have throttled the Broncos had they won the NFC championship.
And then they played the game...lol Being in Denver at the time, the confidence was very very high, until the ball went into the inzone at the start! haha People went home from the bars after the kickoff return. There was a feeling of shock throughout the city for a long long time after, basically until the next superbowl against cam newton and the panthers
@@ClintEasywood69 To be honest I didn't feel safe until that kickoff return. I knew that offense was very capable, so I was worried the Seahawks would let their guard down. After that kickoff I relaxed.
How many times (in the entire season) did Peyton Manning throw the ball more than 15 yards downfield? I sure would like to know the answer. @@randyrenner7643
This game proves the hawks had the best defense of all time. The Broncos had the best offensive numbers in the history of the NFL in an era that favored the qb over any other era and the LOB completely annihilated them. All the while everyone was picking the Broncos over the Hawks. Loved this game
I don't hate the dominant defense, I hate the one sided game. I would've loved if it was 2 dominant defenses going back and fourth and the final score was like 13-7 but seeing one defense stomp another team for like 60 minutes got stale
Calling this the worst Super Bowl is odd in my opinion. I’ll put aside for just a second that I’m a Seahawks fan and that this was one of the greatest days of my life. But just look at this Seahawks team in the grand scheme of that season. In so many seasons we see a dominant team throughout the regular season and then they don’t show up in a playoff game. It’s very common. The most famous example is of course the Patriots loss to the Giants ruining their undefeated season. But the Seahawks in 2013 had a fantastic regular season, and a thrilling playoff series. But more importantly this all culminated into their very best game being played in the Super Bowl. They didn’t have a decent super bowl game, it was extraordinarily dominant, against the greatest offense of all time. That is rare and that is special. Zooming out from just that season, in the last 10 to 15 years, name a team more dominant than the 2013 Seahawks. That team was so dominant to another level rarely seen that they would destroy most of the super bowl teams if not all in the 21st century. That’s why a game like that was so special. It certified greatness on a level rarely ever seen before.
That era for the Seahawks fans regardless of losing by one of the dumbest play calls to lose the following year was an amazing experience and SB 48 was the best SB for the fans, not just because how dominant the game was but because that Broncos offense was historically one of the best offenses of all time and many pundits didn't think the Seahawks had a chance only for them to prove what's been proven time and time again... Defense wins championships!
Give Malcom butler credit😭if yu kno football Yk dat was a great playcall kearse did exactly wat he had to do to get browner out the way if MB doesn’t jump that ball….guess what touchdown n yu would b callin it 1 of da best play calls
Can't lie. Still a seahawks fan, but it's just not the same without a lot of these guys. Definetly my favorite era of seahawks for sure. Even with the dumbest play call ever the following year lol. They should've ran the ball! 😂
“One of the dumbest calls” yeah this why you’re not a coach in the NFL. That exact play had worked on first down multiple times that year for a TD. It was first down, they still had 3 more plays after that to run (which was the plan) Russ placed the ball in a bad spot and Butler made a hell of a play. Stop saying it was the dumbest call, you know nothing you tool.
At least Rans Pats was semi close to the 4th. Many turned off SB48 by the 3rd quarter. The only real highlight of this game was the botched snap and Bruno’s halftime show
The game was close. People expected an offensive showing and got fantastic defense. They were bored, where this game there was no hope for it to get close. I only left the game on to see if Denver would score a TD.
I'd swear it was Prokofiev, but I can't find the music anywhere! I'd go with Prokofiev, and see where that takes you. Some great music to listen to, though
2000 Ravens vs Giants (34-7). Had it not been for a blown kick coverage, NY would've been shutout. They were absolutely incompetent on offense and the Ravens defense was unbeatable that night.
When one team dominates another, that’s not even a bad game. It’s when BOTH teams suck, that’s next level bad. No one was beating the Ravens that year.
seattle would've beatn that team tho. 2014 hawks vs 2000 ravens........Peattle would've won that one-they had a better RB and QB, defenses about the same if not a slight edge to Peattle, as well.
For us Seahawks fans we enjoyed it. I would argue the the worst Superbowl ever was Superbowl XL. The Seahawks and Steelers. It was the worst refereed game in history. It was an embarrassment to the league and led to a lot of speculation that the game was rigged, and it may have been. At least the refs admitted, years later, that they blew it.
Worst ever? That’s a bit hyperbolic, don’t you think? What it WAS was one of the most impressive defensive performances in NFL history. That’s the lens this game should be viewed through. A historic defense which absolutely dominated a historic offense. Doesn’t make it “bad” - it makes it all the more impressive.
Super Bowl 48 is the game that proves that you don’t need that good of an offense. The offense should just be good enough to get by. Building a team defense first is the right way to build a team
Or if we would have scored just one more FG it would have been the 2nd biggest blowout (points wise) in Superbowl history. If you look beyond the spread then it's the worst blowout ever because it was an upset blowout.
Nothing wrong with that if your team wins the Superbowl you should celebrate for people that aren't Seahawks fans though this was torture to sit through especially if you were a broncos fan (which I'm not thankfully) I didn't watch this game I was working at my first job that night blessing in disguise but I'm happy you got to experience this it's just a shame no one talks about this but what happens a year later always does
I HATE the Seahawks. BUT...thank you Seahawks SO VERY MUCH. Record-setting offense? I wonder how many times Peyton Manning threw the ball more than 15 yards downfield? I sure would like to know the answer.
As a packers fan I hate the Seahawks for obvious reasons. However my family asked me who I thought was going to win since my dad taught me to read the odds. I said watch the Seahawks blow them out. They thought I was nuts and I was laughing the whole game😂
As a Seahawks fan, I was nervous but optimistic going into this game. After the first play I knew the game was over. It was pretty much pure elation from that moment
No mention of the all the media hype around the Broncos leading up to the game? Or the kick off return by Percy Harvin to open the 2nd half taking away any hope left for a comeback? Appreciate the regular and post-season context but feel like the game itself got glossed over. Go Hawks!
Richard Sherman has stated that they knew the Denver Broncos play calls. He said players from other teams reached out to the Seahawks and told them what they had figured out. That is one of the reasons why the Broncos couldn't get anything going on offense; Seattle knew what was coming.
Every team has the ability to try and figure out the calls, the difference is execution. That D was incredible, that's the only reason the Broncos couldn't get anything going.
The Seahawks can only win the Super Bowl under the condition they completely destroy the other team... interesting. How I long for the Legion of Boom days - they were so dominant
the hawks were arguably the best defense in NFL history and they showed up and showed off on the biggest stage, I do not think this was the worst Superbowl ever, it was a phenomenal game. one sided yes, but it was a defensive masterclass that I feel privileged to have watched live. the broncos offense did fine, the hawks defense did better. much better.
One of the most memorable points of my entire life. I was on my seat, expecting the great Peyton Manning to launch a comeback…until the Percy Harvin Kick Off return to start the second half. I finally relaxed. Such a great day.
Same. I ran outside and screamed to the neighborhood in SoCal. Then went to my Neighbors house where I knew some 9er fans were watching and just reveled in the glory.
I was in Vegas during that game. I remember that morning, "well, I'm up $400 more than I planned, so why not?" and put it all on the Seahawks. As soon as I saw the first snap go sailing past Payton for the safety, I knew I would win my bet and ordered a room service filet mignon with a fine glass of wine. Nothing felt better than going to the floor on Monday to collect.
I'm from Panama, and American football is not the most popular sport to watch here. However, my dad and I have always watched the Super Bowl every year since 2010. In 2014, my dad and I managed to convince a lot of our neighbors and friends to watch the game with us, to show them how cool American football is... I have to say, they were not impressed; most of them never came back to watch any American football game with us again. 😂
Lol😂 I'm a Seahawks fan, and in my excitement called my grandma (we lived far apart), and she was like, "That was the most boring game I've ever watched!" Thanks, grandma😂🤣😂🤣😂
If you watch the 10 year anniversary videos the Seahawks put together for their Super Bowl run, Sherman points out pretty early what the secret to the Broncos success was - late game drives against gassed defenses. If Denver couldn't move the ball against their opponents for all 4 quarters, you had to find your last reserves against Peyton in the fourth. So the game plan for the Hawks was to stifle them early, and use their conditioning to keep pace with the offense late in the game. They studied film religiously, they ran drills to cover Welker and Thomas specifically, and they had some very timely turnovers to put the game away before the halftime show rolled out. The Broncos still hung more than 300 yards on them, racking up more than 100 yards in penalty flags to move the ball, and only came away with one scoring drive and a 2 pt conversion. Hard to overcome 4 turnovers in the biggest game and come away with a win. And it's not to diminish the efforts of the offense or even special teams for Seattle - they scored in all 3 aspects of the game, with a rushing TD, 2 receiving TDs, and Harvin returning a second half kick-off for the back-breaker. It may have been a snoozefest for the non-Seattle fans watching from home, and an absolute nightmare for Denver fans, but what looks like on paper as the "worst" Super Bowl in years was the greatest night in Seahawks history. Plus, I would contend that with Super Bowl LV behind us, that stands to be the other worst blowout of recent memory.
Superbowl V was the worst. The winning team had 7 Turnovers yet came from behind. Imagine two teams shitting the bed in the same game. This wasn't even the worst Broncos beatdown. That was 55-10
Here's how bad it was. MVP of SB V was Chuck Howley, Cowboys linebacker and original member of the Doomsday Defense. But see, the Cowboys lost. Only time in SB history the MVP was on the losing team.
If you look it up though the 4th had a lot of craziness. Comedy of errors. But still a game winning field goal. Set up by a turnover of course. Such a wacky game that was super close can no way be the worst
I'd say the more recent Patriots vs Rams Super Bowl was the worst. Neither side showed up, Incredibly boring game. Goff and Brady put on an exhibition of bad football. At least in the 55-10 game we got to see excellence from one team. The Rams - Pats game was just putrid. (With Kupp and a healthy Gurly the Rams probably steam roll them)
So in that game, the Broncos got down the field and scored twice. And it was 10-0 as a recall before the Niners scored 55 unanswered points. Point being that Elway got two scoring drives while Manning only got ONE. Elway wasn't running the too offense of all time, either just saying
Far from the worst ever. We damn sure were just forced to watch one of the worst ever, just over a week ago though. This was the best offense of all time vs. A legit top 3 all-time defense. This was a defensive masterclass by Seattle, and the best football game I've ever watched.
Nope. That awful 13-3 snoozer was so utterly boring. And that's just what I remember. I know there were some real duds before that. At least here we could enjoy the broncos riding into the abyss.
@user-wx3fm4gc2dI disagree. As a non-Seahawks fan, even I was impressed by the defensive effort. Definitely not the most entertaining SB by any stretch, but that shouldn't be the measure if you're a true football fan. Bill Burr has the best take on this Super Bowl.
@user-wx3fm4gc2d A true football fan would enjoy a historic show out of defensive skill over the greatest offensive in football history over the most boring big game every played
@user-wx3fm4gc2d I'd rather have a game where the other team blows the other out just because of how skilled their players are and how well they're playing than a close game that's sloppily played with a ton of unforced mistakes. That Bronco Super Bowl 50 win was terrible to watch because of how poorly both teams played.
@ByTheSpirit84 Nah, that Super Bowl was fine. It was close and the defensive play was superb. There were only two turnovers the whole game, so the offenses werent bad.
@@arishemghoul9571 Blowouts are far more of a snoozefest than close games like this one. I agree that this game was ass, but I would never call it the worst or even bottom five.
If you can only appreciate a game if it's competitive you're a weak sports fan. Every so often you just need to see a team get absolutely embarrassed and destroyed. This game was a work of art. It even provided an opening act to the next two Super Bowls as the Seahawks looked unstoppable only to be beaten at the one yard line by the Patriots the next year, and for Peyton to have his moment of redemption and go out on top in Super Bowl 50. Saying this was bad is like saying it was bad Goku and Piccolo got one shot by Raditz, or that Ichigo getting embarrassed by Byakuya was bad. Those losses were important moments in the build up of the narrative.
Damn that's a weak take and a crap analogy. This game was extremely disappointing not because the defence was good, but because the Broncos failed to turn up on almost any level. They collapsed, and at the pinnacle event that's not a good look. To extend your comparison, it would be like if Goku turned up to Namek and got completely shit-canned by Frieza. Forty episodes of training and build up or whatever just to get rolled like he didn't know how to fight. How would that suit your narrative?
As a Seahawks fan I beg to differ. Our Superbowl was the NFC Championship game against the 49'ers. I watched this game in the Florida keys with my dad, and outside of another couple from Seattle we were the only fans in attendance in a crowd of 200 or so people at a beach bar. We drank and laughed ourselves silly and finally enjoyed a stress free game. We don't get many of those and oh boy did we cherish it!
I don’t think people realize the Broncos were beat so badly they lost the title of greatest offense ever. Most were saying there is nothing that could happen in the superbowl for them to lose that title and they did.
@@cooperthomson5978dude they are still the best offense ever they broke ever record in the book you are tripping lol one game doesn’t mean anything. You are not a real fan

Funny how the Broncos were in two of the worst Superbowls ever, getting blow out 55-10 at the hands of Joe Montana, the goat until Brady came and is still the second greatest qb to do it, and a defense with guys like Ronnie Lott and Charles Haley. And they also were apart of being blown out by a Russel Wilson offense and Legion of Boom defense. And their qbs were Elway and Peyton. Damn
the reasons you listed are actually why this sb was so great. it showed how such a dominant defense could dismantle one of the greatest passing offenses to the point of helplessness.
Worst Super Bowl??! 😂😂😂 You forgot the 12s showed up to the game in force. John Fox didn’t believe the 12s would be a factor so he didn’t have them prepare with noise. In the end, and from the very beginning, Manning and the offense couldn’t handle it.😂
Worst Super Bowl was 2007 ... Bears vs Colts, completely lack luster in every sense, didn't make it any better having to be subjected to the previous year's Steelers vs Seahawks where the Refs just dismantled the game at every corner. I always tell my players, "Offense Wins Games, but Defense Wins Championships" this was the epitome of that statements and I personally LOVED every second of it. You must be a Bronco or Peyton Fan.

"Worst" is very subjective. To people that love defense, or are Seahawks fans, this was among the best. In fact, not a large stretch to state that Seahawk fans would argue that 49 was the worst (just run Marshawn!).
I was at this game. I heard denver fans talking a lot of smack. Once the game started with that first snap going over Manning's head into the end zone, they didn't have a lot to say. And it just got worse for Denver and better for Seattle. So I got to be at the Super Bowl that the Hawks won.

Yep. Quite sure the 49ers would have beat the Broncos that year if they'd got past Seattle.
AMEN!!!!
Worst? No joke this game got me hooked to watching football with how dominant the performance was of the Seahawks.
Man, why do people hate dominant defenses so much? It is super cool seeing the picks, fumbles and sacks.

Superbowl XL should have been a Win for Seattle too. The Refs were working for Jerome Bettis that game!
Wasn't a bad play call but it was a very sad way to lose
As a Seahawks fan I gotta say, you got this backwards, pal. This was the best superbowl ever!
Unbiased fan in Seattle here: this was the best Superbowl of all time!

I disagree cos at least it was close throughout. This wasn't
I don’t think Isaac would say that one was the worst when it had the longest punt in SB history
It should’ve never happened. We were robbed of a Brees vs Brady Super Bowl. Insane

2000 Ravens vs Giants (34-7). Had it not been for a blown kick coverage, NY would've been shutout. They were absolutely incompetent on offense and the Ravens defense was unbeatable that night.
The word 'smother' comes to mind with both of these games
SB 7 (1972) Dolphins beat the Redskins 14 - 7. Skins only scored on a botched field goal attempt. The other defensive shutout

Go Hawks!

This was definitely one of the super bowls of all time
@greenlion2890 my bad I meant to say that this was definitely a Super Bowl that was played and was definitely some of the football I’ve watched.
Yes
Absolutely one of the games in sports history.
Richard Sherman has stated that they knew the Denver Broncos play calls. He said players from other teams reached out to the Seahawks and told them what they had figured out. That is one of the reasons why the Broncos couldn't get anything going on offense; Seattle knew what was coming.
That seems like cheating, if not cheating then terribly dishonorable

Yeah that happens every time an American watches soccer.
Don't forget the Pick 6. They scored almost every way you can score.
This was the first SB I'd been at a watch party for, thank god it doubled as a board game party
People forget, the Seahawks offensive numbers were only low, because the defense was scoring too.
Agreed
If you look it up though the 4th had a lot of craziness. Comedy of errors. But still a game winning field goal. Set up by a turnover of course. Such a wacky game that was super close can no way be the worst
this hsould've been a shutout tho. peattle let em score. AND peattle could've made it 50-0 ....oh well.
