@@justinpettit3432 Giants offense and defense were ranked 15/17 in Super Bowl 42 and 9/25 in Super Bowl 46. No question that they don't win either Super Bowl without one of the most stacked defensive lines ever - four Pro Bowl caliber defensive ends - but acting like their defense won them the game is as foolish as thinking that the only reason that the Patriots ever won was because of Tom Brady.
@@justinpettit3432 Bro Eli showed up in the clutch tho. Also you can say the same thing about Super Bowl 36, 53 cuz the NE defense shut down the greatest show on turf for most of the game and then shut down the number one offense in the league SB 53
@@joesanthosh5315 super bowl 36 was a tough one it's hard to tell what would have happened if the Patriots had videotaped the Rams walk through most people either don't know or remember the truth about what happened because the NFL didn't want that to get out it's a lot easier to defend a team when you know what their first 15 plays are going to be oh yeah first score of the game pick 6
When I think about that 84 Dolphins team, and how they just missed out on that championship because Ray Finkle missed that chip shot, just burns me up inside.
1986 Chicago Bears were 14-2; they were really a great extension of the '85 Bears and still had such a killer defense and a good offense and were really beat down by an extremely physical Washington Redskins team in the divisional playoffs.
They didn't get beat down by a physical Redskins team.. they were starting a rookie QB (Doug Flutie) in a playoff game. George Martin body slammed Jim McMahon way after the whistle and separated his shoulder earlier in the year. That was the issue.
@@cefb8923I’m a Vikes fan and hated the Bears back then for good reason. That hit on Jim by Charles Martin was the dirtiest hit in NFL history. Martin should have been banned from the league.
The 1990 49ers should be on here. 14-2 team going for the three peat as two time defending champions. They lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship Game 15-13. A game where they didn't give up a TD, lost Joe Montana to injury, and Roger Craig fumbled the ball when they were trying to run out the clock. That team was far better than a lot of teams on this list.
It was LT that got the fumble too man...tough loss but I’m a bengals fan so screw the 49ers but you still make a good argument regardless of my feelings
Where have the Broncos been after the SB? Highest season was 7-9. Panthers made it back to playoffs since. They gave that SB to Manning. Von Miller admitted to batting the ball which is illegal and the replay assistants wife was rooting for the Broncos. Don’t tell me that ain’t fishy. Panthers were the better team and got cheated. Facts.
A team no one ever talks about. Not even Dallas fans or media. The 1968 Cowboys. They finished 12-2, ranked on offense (#1 yards, #1 scoring) and defense (#4 yards, #2 scoring). They had a +23 turnover ratio and they outscored their opponents by an average of over 17 points. Some of the best team numbers in franchise history. They lost in the divisional round of the playoffs to Cleveland.
The 2006 Chargers Team. LaDainian Tomlinson 30 td season. Philip Rivers Antonio Gates wide receivers, special teams, defense, linebackers!! they had it all!! They had the Patriots crushed in the playoffs and played like crap in the second-half let Tom Brady win by three at the buzzer. I would put that Chargers team up against any other team in history.
2010 Chargers are better. They had the number one offense and defense in yardage. They had almost 2000 more yards gained than allowed. The biggest missed season of all time.
@@QuartzGolem the 2010 Chargers also infamously fielded the worst special teams unit in league history, which is the sole reason they missed the postseason. They also lost to New England (albeit close), and didn't play the other three best teams in the AFC that year (Pittsburgh, New York Jets, and Baltimore), so their stats may have been different had they played those teams. They were superior to the Chiefs, as I'm still not sure how they managed a 10-6 record that year. In all, the Chargers from 2004-2010 should have made at LEAST one Super Bowl appearance. Funny how the years they were expected not to get far ('07 and '08) they actually made some noise.
@@madrecka um...okay? We're talking about greatest teams to NOT win the Super Bowl. Everyone knows about the 1989 Niners and how great that team was, but most importantly, they WON the Super Bowl. Comparing them to the 2006 Chargers doesn't make sense.
@@jaxonwoods8181 Dane who I responded too said He would put the 2006 Chargers against any team in NFL history so I responded with the 89 49ers. That is all.
1976 Steelers. As everyone knows, they were known for their defense in the 70's and won 4 Super Bowls because of it. However, the 76' team was the best defense. They started the year 1-4 after Bradshaw got hurt. After that, they went on a 9 game winning streak. 5 of those victories were shutouts. They only allowed 28 combined points in that 9 week span. Their starting defense also had 8 Pro Bowlers that year and 4 future HOFers. They are at least the best defense to not win a Super Bowl
Yeah, if Franco and Bleier don't both get hurt (both of them were 1000 yard rushers that year) the Steelers win that AFC championship game against Oakland and would have had a good chance to shutout that Viking team. That is considered by some the greatest defense ever. When you look at that nine game run, no other team has ever come close to those defensive numbers. For that day and age they were a complete team with a dominating run game and an overwhelming defense. The 1976 Steelers should have been near the top of this list.
Best defense to not win a super bowl was the best defense of all time, the 69 Vikings. The defense only gave up 7.5 points per game and they gave up 1.465 yards per play less than the league average, both the best in history. The second best defense to not win was the 70 Vikings who gave up just 10 touchdowns all year.
What people seem to forget about the '07 Pats is that they faced the Giants in the final week of the regular season and, while they did win, the Giants sure put the fear of God into them! The Giants had been the most effective team against the Patriots all season and just seemed to line up perfectly against them. I remember saying after that game that the Giants were the one team that the Patriots were dreading to play a second time and sure enough, they were dreading it!
Patriots won that week 17 game, 38-35 at Giants Stadium against a team which was very inconsistent until the last two weeks of the regular season. The Giants certainly did not show they had a dominant pass rush in the regular season.
I remember watching that last game of the season, and I said then after the game, "the giants will get their rematch in the superbowl." All because of one particular play in that game. The patriots guard poked Michael Strahan in the eye. You don't poke Strahan in the eye and get away with it. The giants were out for revenge the whole playoffs
I watched that game, wasn't happy the Giants lost, but man, I knew the Pats where in trouble on the 1ST snap of the SB by the reaction of the Giants D Line compared to the Pats O Line
@@dchenkin02 and yet no one was hotter going into the playoffs. So the whole "shoulda woulda coulda" thing is crap. The Patriots BARELY squeaked by the Giants that last regular season game and lost the big one - so whatever they did in the regular season means nothing . They lost to a team that played better throughout the entire playoffs. Excuses mean nothing . 18-1 is their record and they lost when it mattered most . And how did we NOT have a dominant defense when 23% of our defensive snaps ended in an offensive turnover and only TWO TEAMS managed to throw 300+ yds against us all season . People also forget our RB corps ran for close to 2000 yards. Our d-line also had 37.5 sacks that season - so in whose book isn't that good? If anything our record didn't reflect how good our team was - then we beat them again 4 seasons later. So it wasn't some fluke. They lost because they felt entitled to the win. Brady's comments before the game shows that. They thought they could score at will.
White Walker as much as I agree, I’m kind of happy he didn’t. I never liked Randy Moss. He always seemed to never have any graciousness or class. He always seemed to bad mouth everyone he faced. And when he does that to your favorite players and teams, he can’t help but laugh saying serves you right when he lost in 98 and 07.
Nah he deserves it, he was a locker room cancer and then went ring chasing (granted he was traded). I respect his game and he will be a HoF but the guy is an ass hat.

Love how Dan Fouts said that Kenny Anderson was throwing nice tight spirals during the 1981 AFCCG then NFL Films shows anything but a nice tight spiral from Anderson.
It's all relative. If you actually go back and watch the game the difference between the qb's was pretty stark. fouts sailed almost every ball he threw and anderson, for the most part, was able to keep his throws relatively catchable. it was the difference in the game.
Deagle - I remember that 2007-2008 season. The chargers were really banged up against the Pats. Rivers and LT. I think LaDainian Tomlinson was really nicked up too. I only carried the ball twice. The best back in the league carried the ball twice. The game was not a blowout. The Chargers were in the red zone 3 times. And settle for FGs all three times. A healthy Chargers team and a Charger Giants/SB. I am a Giant fan so I am not going to say who would win but it would have been good. Also the commentators ignored these injuries in their analysis. Oh the Pats are perfect. Does not matter that they played a hobbled team at home. Don't look at that. They are still perfect. Nothing to worry about.
Sam Archer - while i'm not a chargers fans, they were far and away the best team in 2006, and that was the best team of marty's coaching career..... if they'd not lost that fluky game to the patriots, they'd have won it all that year
@@dnasty312 you're absolutely right. People blame Schottenheimer for that game, and it's absolute garbage. He told him before the game "when you get the interception at the end of the game, remember to go down!"
This was the game where WE NEEDED MARTY BALL, Patriots had no answer for LT and Marty WENT AWAY from run run run in the 2nd half, That and Marlon McCree...
THERE - designates a place or position (put that over THERE) THEIR - ownership (the colta rested THEIR starters) THEY'RE - a contraction for the words 'they are' (they're not going to the game) Unbelievable how many people are uneducated enough to not know the difference between these three words. Sad, is what it is.
I'm gonna have to say the 2015 Carolina Panthers who went 15-1 HAVE to be on the list. The years before and after 2015 they were very inconsistent, but that season, (other than the Super Bowl), they were incredibly awesome on both sides of the ball and easily mowed through incredible Seahawk and Cardinal teams to get to the Super Bowl.
The saints lost an opening day shootout to Green Bay that year, had they won, both teams would have finished 14-2 and the Saints would have been the 1 seed on the head to head tiebreaker. Defense was that team's downfall. They were allowing points almost as fast as Brees was putting them up.
The 2011 San Diego Chargers had the #1 ranked offence and #1 ranked defence. For reasons unknown, they decided to have the 32nd ranked special teams and it cost them all season long. They finished 9-7. I remember watching them.. I'm an honest person and I believe people deserve the benefit of the doubt. I absolutely give the 11' Chargers the benefit of the doubt in that their special, teams wasn't actually that bad. For reasons unknown, they did it on purpose.
Less talked about with the Bills choke in SB25 is how the Giants got a field goal to make it 20-19 with enough time left for the Bills to get two separate drives out of it! It went Giants FG, Bills punt, Giants punt, Bills missed FG... they had two chances to score and failed twice really.
Why do you assume 49ers/Bills would be a good SB? The only one that was close was Giants/Bills and that was with a backup QB and a backup RB. Healthy 49ers go and it's another double digit loss for the Buffalo Bills.
"28 was the only fair one. And in that game, they just barely lost." By 15 points in a scoreless second half, barely lost my ass. "The Giants QB did nothing." Backup QB because Simms got injured in a Bills game (since you're so quick blame teams for that). Even then Jeff had the TD pass, not Kelly. "advantage to win 26 cause they wouldn't have faced the oilers who gave Kelly the concussion" They didn't play the Oilers in 1991 and blaming a string of injuries to Kelly on them getting beaten by the Giants in the SB a year earlier is ridiculous reaching anyway. And they wouldn't have had the advantage anyway, because the Redskins were frankly better. The 91 Redskins are generally ranked as the best SB winning team ever. And even then it's not the Giants fault Kelly is made of glass. Also I like how you seem to think the knee injury cost them 27 and not the 52 points their defense allowed. Yeah, better offense might've offset that slightly, not enough to make it not pathetic. "they would have won 28" No evidence for that. The reason the Bills lost is obvious, they're team and staff were well rounded enough to handle the superbowl contenders NFC East had at the time. But I guess it doesn't matter the Giants defense had one of the best ppg averages despite one of the hardest schedules ever, and in form held the Bills below 20. It doesn't matter the Redskins had one of the best +/- teams ever in points and turnovers. It doesn't matter Elliot Smith ran for 100+ yards in two consecutive SBs nor does it matter that even when Kelly was there and setting completion records they couldn't score in the second half. All that matters are injuries that are everyone else's fault in a butterfly effect and everyone has to let the Bills play however they want "like men".
Me either, it's a taste that will take of winning it all to get rid of. Falcons are starting to replace the Cubbies as America's Favorite losers. :57 seconds away from holding that Lombardi Trophy. We will get our shine.
They weren't necessarily a better team than the Patriots, but it is without a doubt the worst collapse (or in the case of the Patriots, greatest comeback) in Super Bowl history.
At least the Falcons can get to the Super Bowl every once in a while. The Vikings can't even GET THERE ANYMORE. What is it, six Conference title losses in a row since Super Bowl XI.......FORTY THREE YEARS AGO? LOL !!!!
Yeah. Let's act like a circus catch is the only reason they even had a chance at the end. Butler gave up the (Circus Catch) but made up for it with the INT
1942 Bears. 11-0 in the regular season. A point differential of 292 in only 11 games. They outscored their opponents by an average of over 26 points (by comparison, the '07 Patriots margin of victory was only 19.7 points).
What about the 1988 Bengals? They dominated the regular season, played like champions in the playoffs and came just a play or two short of being the best team of the 80s.
I was thinking the same thing. That team played in the closest SB for the AFC in the middle to late 80’s… and the team that the Bills stole the No Huddle from (even though they complained about it)
A couple of years ago I emailed the NFL Network and proposed a couple of ideas for Top 10 shows. The first one was TOP 10 that DIDN'T MAKE THE SUPER BOWL. This show would have focused on the great teams that fell short of making the big game. The other idea was TOP 10 teams THAT LOST THE SUPER BOWL. It would've focused on the top 10 teams that fell short once they got there. Less than 6 months after I sent my email, this show aired. True story. They really could've had 2 strong programs if they kept my original ideas separate.
Spineshot25 I agree. But they lost because of themselves. Rodgers didn’t play the last regular-season game and I think also having the bye week made him a little less sharp throwing wise than he should’ve been if he had played. Also the defense was poor. They did have some really good players like Tramon Williams and Nick Collins and Charles Woodson but as a whole, the defense was not very good. I really wish this team would’ve gone to the Super Bowl, I was really hoping they would.
kyle - You made a good point. But let me emphasize. That defense was worse than poor. They were terrible. I am not sure why they only gave up 360 points. That defense gave up 6585 yards. They only had 6482 yards gained themselves. I am being sarcastic on the yards gained. It is a lot. Anyway one of the worst defense ever. That is with a team that had possession of the ball a lot. I think the question we have to ask here is how they actually went 15-1. Not how they lost to the Giants. Because if the Giants did not beat them they would have had a lot of trouble the next week against the niners.
But GB went 15-1 in 2011. Only 3 teams did it before. 84 ‘49ers, 85 Bears, and the 98 Vikings. The offense was the greatest I’ve ever seen. Definitely deserves a spot if they redo the list.
In a parallel universe, the 2008/2017 Lions and Browns went 16-0 and won the Superbowl, and the Patriots went 0-16 in 2007, and the Dolphins went 0-14 in 1972.
Back when they took these lists somewhat seriously Lol Here are a few modern ones that could be here: 04 Steelers, 05 Colts, 06 Chargers, 09 Colts, 11 Packers, 13 Broncos, 14 Seahawks
Almost like a premonition NFL films panned the uniform name of Jack Squirek before his historically pivotal pick six against Theisman in SB XVIII. Marcus Allen was given the MVP (and game highlights always show his reverse end around run) but his long run came against a team that knew it was already beaten
Derek Jaspersen I’m a packers fan and I agree. The Packers should have won super bowl 32 and the Vikings should have won 33. The I could have laughed at John Elway for going to 5 Super Bowls and losing all of them.
In 1991 the Eagles had one of the best defenses in NFL history: led the league in defense against the pass and the run (Jerome Brown, Reggie White, Clyde Simmons). But Cunningham broke his leg in the first game. Their 3rd string QB lost 4 games. With Cunningham (who was coming off his greatest season in 1990), the Eagles could have made some real noise. otoh, Rich Kotite WAS the coach so he probably would have found some other way to screw things up.
The bills offense was so indefensible because of one thing: Thurman Thomas was both a great runner AND a great receiver. Teams knew how to cover receivers and a runner, but a receiver out of the backfield who would run more than flat routes was a real problem for defenses.
Not even close, they only got to those super bowls because they were the only good team in a horrifically weak AFC (no super bowl wins from 1984 until 1997)
stealthiscool no I disagree I think the AFC was good when Buffalo was going to the Super Bowls Houston was a good team Miami was a good team Pittsburgh was a good team Denver had good teams
originnone Wrong, I can tell you're a millennial and someone who didn't watch those Bill teams play because the bills had success against NFC teams during the regular season they beat Dallas during the regular season in Dallas in 1993 after losing the Super Bowl to Dallas the year before they beat San Francisco in San Francisco in 1992 the same 49ers team that went 14-2. The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Giants during the regular season in 1990 in Giants stadium the same year they played the Giants in the Super Bowl. In 1991 the Buffalo Bills played The Undefeated Chicago Bears and put a whooping on them 35-13 to hand Chicago their first loss, Chicago would go on to go 11-5 that year. Buffalo routinely had success against NFC teams when they played them. Let the grown-ups talk about teams that we seen play young kid.
@Vince Niederman Well there are two sneaky Bengals teams, 1975 and 1982. The 1975 Bengals lost to the Steelers twice and the Browns but beat the very tough 10-4 Oilers twice, and also the Raiders and Bills in the regular season. 11-3 and featuring the game’s top passing attack, they were stymied 31-28 in Oakland in the first round. The second team would be the strike shortened 7-2 season from the 82 schedule. That team had probably the NFLs top receiving Corps with collinsworth Isaac Curtis, Steve kreider ML Harris, and dan Ross in the mix and a bevy of talented defenders and they won six of their last seven. But that only loss was a 50-34 crushing at the hands of the chargers, an evil harbinger of the first round 44-17 humbling at home against the Jets. I thought that team was going farther.
As a Dolphins fan, I’m forever thankful for the SB XLII upset. The Giants helped us keep the last shreds of relevance we have left, no team has been perfect since us. Seeing it happen to the Patriots just makes it that much better.
No team other than the Patriots has ever gone 16-0 for the regular season or 18-1 when you include the playoffs! Not even the Miami Dolphins have done that!
The patriots season was better. 1972 Dolphins had a ridiculously easy schedule, the combined record of their opponents was 70-122-4 Only two of their opponents had a winning record (both were 8-6) none of their opponents on their schedule made the playoffs. People say Earl Morrall was lucky when he replaced Griese and won 11 games, but he was a veteran QB that backed up Unitas, Tittle, Fran Tarkenton, and Griese. All HOFs. They were a great team, but their opponents only had a .367 winning percentage.
The 1969 Minnesota Vikings with Joe Kapp @ QB and the Purple People Eaters defense. They and their Hall of Fame Coach Bud Grant should have been somewhere on that list.
Agreed. Back in the days before many current NFL fans were born. They were the top defense in the league for several years in a row, then shared the limelight with a few other worthy Ds like the Steel Curtain. Joe Kapp as QB deserved recognition in his own right, and it's hard to omit workhorses like Bill Brown, Mick Tinglehoff, and Ron Yary, all great - and tough. Bud Grant was as iconic a coach as the NFL ever had. Football the old way.
Wow no mention of how the Patriots, the highest scoring offense in history to that point got completely ran over by the Nascar package of the Giants.... huh
The 1979 Oilers and the 1981 Chargers have no business on this list. Especially being ahead the of Washington Redskins of 1983 or the 2001 St. Louis Rams, two teams that had won Superbowls before.
@@xaviervega468for they went 10-6 and got blown out in the championship game. If anything the 79, 80 and 04 chargers belong more as they were objectively better teams lmao
How about the 1990 49ers? Even after Montana got hurt in the NFC title game, if Roger Craig doesn't fumble, Steve Young could have had a shootout with the Bills
The 1976-1977 Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't make this list?... Dang it!... I was born in 1989 & remember first reading about them sometime in the mid-1990's when I was a kid. They were such a legendary group, too...
Lol. Theisman who changed the pronunciation of his last name that was pronounced “Theesman” until he got to college. Then all of a sudden it was pronounced so it rhymed with Heisman as in the Heisman Trophy.
How are the 90 Niners not on this list? 14-2 and two time defending champions who lost the NFC championship to a team they had already beaten because of a devastating injury to Montana and a fluke fumble by Craig. Should absolutely be #2 on this list, they would have crushed almost every other team that was ranked here.
Danny Amendolara: The 14-2 Redskins, who made the Super Bowl, don't deserve to be on this list. Also Danny Amendolara: The 10-6 Chargers, who did not make the Super Bowl, deserve to be on this list.
1988 Bengals. Krumrie breaking his leg early really hurt that team. Billups dropping a perfect interception in the endzone. That final drive by the 49ers would never have happened if those two things didn't happen.
Harry Engel In my mind, it would have been a clash of giants and styles. You got the Vikings with the track meet with Moss, Carter and Robert Smith with Randall Cunningham’s resurgence. Then you have the defending champion broncos with a 2000 yard rusher in TD with Shannon Sharpe and another guy in the middle of a resurgence in John Elway. We missed out on one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time and considering how the 98 Broncos could be seen as one of the greatest teams ever, it’s a fascinating matchup
I remember being crazy excited when the Giants beat the Pats in 2008 lol. I was at work and I was the only one of my co-workers who rooted against the Pats. To be clear I had no great reasons other than I wanted Brady to go down and yes it was cause I was -jealous- resentful of his greatness and as a Raider fan I obviously _never_ rooted for him. I also wanted to see a bunch of my friends lose money on what they thought would be easy money on bets. I still smile thinking about it lol.
Funny how nobody ever talks about the perfect pass Eli threw at the 7 yard line in the first quarter and his receiver bounce tHE ball off his hands and the patriots intercepted, Giants we’re going in for a TD , but it happens, maybe the patriots should’ve scored more than 14 points
My opinion on each team on the list: 10. 83 Redskins. Great team, but hearing Steve Czaban saying they were robbed is an absolute joke. 9. 79 Oilers. They weren't a great team. Pastorini was good, not great. They didn't have great receivers. They had an average defense. They might've lost to LA or Tampa in the Super Bowl anyways. 8. 84 Dolphins. Definitely deserve to be on the list. 8 is a perfect placement. 7. 86 Browns. Not even the best Browns team from that era. The 87 team was better. 6. 01 Rams. Better than the 99 team. They definitely should've won, but they were killed by a great D. 5. 81 Chargers. Come on. They had zero defense. The 79 and 80 teams were better. It was a good offense, bad defense, average team. 4. 98 Vikings. Yeah, they were a great team. Not the best defense, but it was good enough to win. 3. 90 Bills. Should be top 5, but if you're basing it off regular season performance and overall talent, I'd take the 98 Vikings over the 90 Bills. 2. 68 Colts. Technically won the championship because the leagues hadn't completely merged. But if you need to win the Super Bowl, definitely number two. 1. 07 Patriots. Easy. My list: 07 Pats, 68 Colts, 98 Vikings, 90 Bills, 06 Chargers, 01 Rams, 84 Dolphins, 83 Skins, 09 Colts, 67 Rams (2019 Ravens if it was filmed today)
I think you make some great points. Personally and I know that they got blown out in the Super Bowl, but I would put the 83 Redskins at number 2. That team and the 07 Patriots to me are the most complete teams that didn’t win the Super Bowl.
Try beating a team by 45 points in the NFC championship game.... and actually making it to the superbowl... but the 2015 Dabbing Panthers were trash I guess #mediahatesthePanthers
Kyle Reese I was talking about Aaron’s misfortunes but I’ll cut Favre somewhat some slack on the 07 pick, the DB made a nice play and and driver wasn’t paying attention, the 09 one however was horrific and hilarious.
1974 Raiders. Best record in the NFL. Had the NFL MVP (Stabler.) Crushed the Steelers in the regular season... then blew a 7-3 lead in the AFC Championship in the 4th quarter and lost to the Steelers when Bradshaw had something like 80 yards passing.
23:16 Steven Gostkowski hadn't missed a PAT since his rookie season in 2007 and he missed in the AFC championship game in 2016 against the Broncos. Patriots could've won 3 years in a row.
Um, WTF? If Brandon Bolden doesn't Abner Haynes/Marty Mornhinweg the OT flip the AFCCG is in Foxborough, they only missed out on a missed XP by Gostkowski as is
+GyzmoThaAngelofDeath That's the point...They were not a great team in their last couple of games. They had virtually no o-line left, their three leading receivers played an average of 10-11 games, and their defense was a step behind Denver that year. That Super Bowl was probably the more boring in the last couple of decades, and that Denver team was one of the worst teams to win a Super Bowl...Just look at them at 5-11 only two year later. lol.
If Cunningham doesn’t get injured they most likely would have made the playoffs but idk if they could have beaten the redskins in the playoffs cause the redskins were a really good team that year
1981 Bengals: 12-4 1981 Chargers: 10-6 Week 10 of the regular season: Bengals beat the Chargers in San Diego 40-17 AFCCG: Bengals beat the Chargers 27-7 in the Freezer Bowl Why exactly are the Chargers considered the great team that didn't win a championship here and not the Bengals? Funny to hear Florio basically blame the cold, when the Bengals beat them even worse in the regular season at San Diego
2004 Eagles. 13-3. Had HOF coaches Andy Reid at HC and Jim Johnson (one of the greatest defensive coordinators all time) at DC. Had HOFs like Terrell Owens and Brian Dawkins. Potential HOFs like Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, and Jon Runyan. The only reason we lost the SuperBowl is because we went up against the Pats at the height of their WaterGate cheating scandal. Not saying we should be Top 5, but cmon, you aren't even going to put us in the Top 10? You are going to put the Houston Oilers and San Diego Chargers ahead of us!? Lmao
1998 people don’t remember this but John Randle got hurt against the cardinals the week before. He was the main key to the whole defense, when that happened my dad and I looked at each other, Ope der cood be troubles brewing in the lutafisk.
Not really. We were still very relevant after that. The last year of the Greatest Show on Turf was about 2006. That was the last year of their run of success. They went 8-8 and missed the playoffs on a tie-breaker. They almost won the NFC West in 2010, but lost to the Seahawks in the last game of the season.
The day that Martz decided Marc Bolger should stay in over kurt warner out of spite is when they died, Warner clearly still had great years left in him, but Kurts wife said some negative things about Martz on a radio show and Martz being an egotistical vindictive man, took it out on Kurt, just ask Isaac bruce and Marshall faulk, they would know, Martz was a great OC but a horrible head coach.
I love how many of these “experts” question basically every choice on this list by pointing out that they lost a game. Did they not read the title of the list?
What the hell how did the 2006 14-2 San Diego Chargers not make it. If our defender doesn't fumble the int on 4th down we beat the patriots and are gonna finish our super bowl run
Didn't get far enough in the playoffs I imagine. Every team on this list lost in either the Conference Championship game or the Super Bowl, the Chargers only made it as far as the Divisional Round.
I agree, 2006 Chargers were totally beast. The fumble was retarded, but they would have smashed the Colts at home and ran all over that piss poor run defense the 2006 Colts had. 2006 New England was NOT a that good of a football team, nowhere near the 2007 team. And obviously the NFC sucked back then.
The entire Vikings team choked in 1998. It's not just Anderson's fault. Yes, he missed a chip shot sure, but the defense let the Falcons go right down the field in 2 minutes to tie it up. Not to mention the Viking's historic offense actually had the ball in overtime and couldn't do anything with it, when it only took a field goal to win back then. Then the defense let Atlanta go down the field again and get a field goal. Seriously, the WHOLE DAMN TEAM CHOKED. Anderson choked, offense choked, defense really choked.
I will always say this Dennie Green, Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, and Chris Carter had 3 different opportunities to gain 50 yards and give Gary a second chance, but they couldn’t do it.
The 81’ Chargers is the dumbest choice on the list. It wasn’t even the best Charger team from that era. They were better the previous two seasons. The 79-80 Chargers had John Jefferson who was an All-Pro WR. By 81’ he was on another team. More importantly, their defense declined a ton after 79’. In 79’, they actually had a highly rated defense, in 81’ their defense was awful. They often mention the Freezer Bowl, but Cincinnati easily beat San Diego in regular weather during the regular season and then during the Freezer Bowl. Cincinnati was just a better team that year
I agree Cin was a better team and seemed to deserve beating SD. For one, SD was only 10-6 that year and they barely got away in that game against Miami.
Yeah, I'd put the '79 team ahead of '81. 12-4, only lost by 3 points to a tough Houston team in the playoffs, best point differential of the Coryell-era Chargers.
the fact that a 10-6 team is on this list, but the 2014 hawks, 2013 broncos, 2011 pats, 2004 eagles, 1997 packers, 1991 bills, 1986 broncos, 1984 bears, 1974 vikings, and 1957 giants arent on this list before it is a crime. this is BEST teams, not most interesting, or highest-powered teams that didn't win it.

1986 Chicago Bears were 14-2; they were really a great extension of the '85 Bears and still had such a killer defense and a good offense and were really beat down by an extremely physical Washington Redskins team in the divisional playoffs.
The Bears should have signed Doug Williams
They didn't get beat down by a physical Redskins team.. they were starting a rookie QB (Doug Flutie) in a playoff game. George Martin body slammed Jim McMahon way after the whistle and separated his shoulder earlier in the year. That was the issue.

The 1990 49ers should be on here. 14-2 team going for the three peat as two time defending champions. They lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship Game 15-13.

Good call...they were epic
Bud Carson?
The Steeler teams of the 70s were scary, no one wanted to face that defense. The 76 Steelers were more dominant on defense than any other season.
I am surprised none of the elite Manning Colts teams are on the list, like 2004 or 2009.

They didn't make it to the SB but it's still a damn pity that 06' Chargers didn't win it

The simple fact that my beloved Giants took two rings away from Brady and Belichick warms the cockles of my heart. Even though we suck eggs now🤣
Less talked about with the Bills choke in SB25 is how the Giants got a field goal to make it 20-19 with enough time left for the Bills to get two separate drives out of it! It went Giants FG, Bills punt, Giants punt, Bills missed FG... they had two chances to score and failed twice really.
Yeah Scott Norwood(their kicker) must've felt terrible

Here are a few modern ones that could be here: 04 Steelers, 05 Colts, 06 Chargers, 09 Colts, 11 Packers, 13 Broncos, 14 Seahawks
04 Eagles, 11 Saints, and 15 Panthers as well.
05 bengals
2019 ravens
2017 Steelers as well!
18 & 20 Chiefs went a combined (29-8) with Playoffs included.
2018 AFC runners up.
2020 SB runners up.
Almost like a premonition NFL films panned the uniform name of Jack Squirek before his historically pivotal pick six against Theisman in SB XVIII. Marcus Allen was given the MVP (and game highlights always show his reverse end around run) but his long run came against a team that knew it was already beaten
1998 vikings should have won the super bowl
Dark knight 543658 You have to make the SB first
Derek Jaspersen broncos would've ran all over that weak vikings defense.
The Broncos were far and away the best team that year
Derek Jaspersen I’m a packers fan and I agree. The Packers should have won super bowl 32 and the Vikings should have won 33. The I could have laughed at John Elway for going to 5 Super Bowls and losing all of them.
jamail white. Lol your dumb af vikings went 15-1 in the regular season we would of killed the Broncos
31:31 "2007 New Engalnd Patriots"
4 of these should be the Bills
Not even close, they only got to those super bowls because they were the only good team in a horrifically weak AFC (no super bowl wins from 1984 until 1997)
Christian Bennett or the Vikings
The Bills would have been a marginal playoff team in the NFC during those years.
stealthiscool no I disagree I think the AFC was good when Buffalo was going to the Super Bowls Houston was a good team Miami was a good team Pittsburgh was a good team Denver had good teams
originnone Wrong, I can tell you're a millennial and someone who didn't watch those Bill teams play because the bills had success against NFC teams during the regular season they beat Dallas during the regular season in Dallas in 1993 after losing the Super Bowl to Dallas the year before they beat San Francisco in San Francisco in 1992 the same 49ers team that went 14-2.
The 1981 Chargers aren’t even the best Chargers team that didn’t win a SB. 2006 was a far superior team to 1981.
The 1981 Cincinnati Bengals Should Had Be on This List Going 12-4 With Ken Anderson Having a MVP Season and Comeback Player of The Year!
Definitely
Absolutely, especially over the 81 Chargers who they blew out twice
@Matthew Orlandi ... i loved the Perfectville commercial they made for the Super Bowl
The patriots season was better.
1972 Dolphins had a ridiculously easy schedule, the combined record of their opponents was 70-122-4
Only two of their opponents had a winning record (both were 8-6) none of their opponents on their schedule made the playoffs. People say Earl Morrall was lucky when he replaced Griese and won 11 games, but he was a veteran QB that backed up Unitas, Tittle, Fran Tarkenton, and Griese. All HOFs.
They were a great team, but their opponents only had a .367 winning percentage.
@shumpie41 Wow, are you really going to start with that whining B.S. again??? Just a bunch of jealous losers, that keep claiming that!!!
That was their chance to shut you lot up and laud it over you forever and they fluffed it, it must be so bitter for them to swallow!
Interesting how the Giants were responsible for defeating two teams on this list. Not a Giants fan, but you cannot deny their greatness
Giants got hot at the right time. A 9-7 team most times doesn't win the Super Bowl.
2007 Cowboys should be here. Record breaking number of pro bowlers on the team that still stands today.
The 2004 Eagles is another team I think a lotta people forget about.
06 Chargers could have been on this list. LT was a machine that year.
Super Bowls.
81 Chargers are one of the most overrated teams ever. Great offense but GARBAGE on defense.
Yaaaaaaaaa...................................
They’ll find another list.
The connection between 98 vikes and 07 pats =Randy moss
U can tell how young everyone in comments is when all u see is 13 broncos
Echo
Not everyone is old like you people so we weren’t alive to see teams like the 98 vikings.
Daniel Da GOAT I was 4 when that happened and even I know of it know your football history
Echo
👏 👏👏 ok... so??
Echo
Follow me on Instagram though @dv4tw
Why shouldn't the 13 Broncos be included? They are the highest scoring offense of all time.
1. 2018 Saints
2. 2007 Patriots
3. 1998 Vikings
4. 1984 Dolphins
5. 2001 Rams
6. 2011 Packers
7. 1983 Skins
8. 2015 Panthers
9. 1968 Colts
10. 2004 Steelers
Nah defense 1988 Bengals defense wasn't that good, the1981 Bengals were far better.
As a Packers fan, John Randle was right
Harry Engel In my mind, it would have been a clash of giants and styles.
Going 18-0 did not hurt the Patriots. A lucky play by Eli Manning and David Tyree and a furious Giants pass rush lost the game that's it.
💯
It still boggles my mind how Manning escaped what should have been a sack and Tyree making that catch.
@@vadimzdonutube too bad deal with it buddy
Funny how nobody ever talks about the perfect pass Eli threw at the 7 yard line in the first quarter and his receiver bounce tHE ball off his hands and the patriots intercepted, Giants we’re going in for a TD , but it happens, maybe the patriots should’ve scored more than 14 points
So many great teams that didn’t win the SB: 94 cowboys, 16 falcons, 97 packers, 90 49ers, 09 Vikings, those bud grant Vikings teams, so many
My opinion on each team on the list:
10. 83 Redskins.
Easy.
My list:
07 Pats, 68 Colts, 98 Vikings, 90 Bills, 06 Chargers, 01 Rams, 84 Dolphins, 83 Skins, 09 Colts, 67 Rams (2019 Ravens if it was filmed today)
I think you make some great points. Personally and I know that they got blown out in the Super Bowl, but I would put the 83 Redskins at number 2. That team and the 07 Patriots to me are the most complete teams that didn’t win the Super Bowl.
The 98 Vikings Should Had Won The SB That Season Going 15-1 in The Season!
True The Playoffs Sometimes Get The Fans a Little Nervous LOL and The Vikings Had a Easy Schedule That Year!
Try beating a team by 45 points in the NFC championship game.... and actually making it to the superbowl... but the 2015 Dabbing Panthers were trash I guess #mediahatesthePanthers
Mark Duper: We should be number 1
2007 patriots: Hold my beer
10:09
You should put the 67 rams and colts on here. They were both 11-1-2, and only one made the playoffs.
I think we can all agree that the 07 Patriots commited the biggest choke job in NFL history.
Diesel 恋 SB 51
Diesel 恋 how bout 07 packers. Favre and his stupid pick. That game still haunts me. It’s like a dagger in my heart.
Okay mr blow a three possession lead with like 4 minutes left in the nfc championship
Yep. That’s Favre for you. Blows a big game and make you so angry.
Kyle Reese I was talking about Aaron’s misfortunes but I’ll cut Favre somewhat some slack on the 07 pick, the DB made a nice play and and driver wasn’t paying attention, the 09 one however was horrific and hilarious.
What about the 15-1 Packers in 2011?? Giants trounced them in the playoffs.
Pretty sure this was made in 2009-2010
It appears you need to advance at least to the Conference title game and not just the divisional rd
Razza Anonymous The 2015 Patriots were not a great team. They backed into the playoffs.
Mike Youngblood bullshit we were 10-0 and then injuries stacked up check yourself.
Mike Youngblood The 2015 Patriots team was better than both the 14 and 16 patriots. They just ran into Denver D
That Super Bowl was probably the more boring in the last couple of decades, and that Denver team was one of the worst teams to win a Super Bowl...Just look at them at 5-11 only two year later. lol.
1991 Eagles. Incredible defense.
Maybe. But Buddy Ryan never won a playoff game has a Head Coach. Did not play well with others.
ur joking right? they went 10-6 and missed the playoffs
If Cunningham doesn’t get injured they most likely would have made the playoffs but idk if they could have beaten the redskins in the playoffs cause the redskins were a really good team that year
1981 Bengals: 12-4
1981 Chargers: 10-6
Week 10 of the regular season: Bengals beat the Chargers in San Diego 40-17
AFCCG: Bengals beat the Chargers 27-7 in the Freezer Bowl
Why exactly are the Chargers considered the great team that didn't win a championship here and not the Bengals? Funny to hear Florio basically blame the cold, when the Bengals beat them even worse in the regular season at San Diego
2016 falcons, 2015 panthers 10 colts
Lmao
I'm not an Eagles fan, but that broke my heart. I wanted the Eagles to win their first.
Didn't forget to put 2017 eagles too
MR. Eugene you never know the eagles might win it all this year.
Evan Rangel me too. And this year the eagles pulled a 2016 raiders with Carson Wentz getting hurt. I hope they will rebound.
they where a defense first team not offense lol
1998 people don’t remember this but John Randle got hurt against the cardinals the week before. He was the main key to the whole defense, when that happened my dad and I looked at each other, Ope der cood be troubles brewing in the lutafisk.
that '83 skins team was such a heartbreaker..that was truly a black sunday against the raiders.
'83 Redskins #2. '07 Patriots "1
Superbowl XVIII still bums me out. HTTR
Damn, 2001 Rams had some sharp uniforms back then. That gold was solid af
Ironic, lots of people didn’t like that Gold including myself. I much preferred the Yellow and Blue.
Yeah I liked Rams old uniform. Not a fan of the LA rams, idk it makes everyone's bodies look a bit funny to me.
Imagine your 5am alarm clock in Buffalo being a "wide right" call; that would be funny
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is it me...or does Bum Phillips look like Hank from King of the Hill? Idk...maybe I see it differently😒
talks like him too, I tell you what....
I was sick of seeing the patriots in Super Bowls, but I really wanted Moss to get one.
Martz should've handed the ball to Faulk.
The beginning of the end of the ST. LOUIS Rams.
My 3 favorite teams:
3. 1984 Miami Dolphins
2. 2007 New England Patriots
1. 1972 Miami Dolphins
What the hell how did the 2006 14-2 San Diego Chargers not make it. If our defender doesn't fumble the int on 4th down we beat the patriots and are gonna finish our super bowl run
Speed12Gaming probably the chargers always had mannings number and the bears with rex grossman were a joke
Marlon Mcree
Didn't get far enough in the playoffs I imagine. Every team on this list lost in either the Conference Championship game or the Super Bowl, the Chargers only made it as far as the Divisional Round.
I agree, 2006 Chargers were totally beast. The fumble was retarded, but they would have smashed the Colts at home and ran all over that piss poor run defense the 2006 Colts had. 2006 New England was NOT a that good of a football team, nowhere near the 2007 team. And obviously the NFC sucked back then.
Harry agree with you about teams that did not make the SB.
It's a good life being a Giants fan 😎😎
I mean right now when we suck not really:(
How do you like the Mets, Giants and then the Spurs?
The entire Vikings team choked in 1998. It's not just Anderson's fault. Yes, he missed a chip shot sure, but the defense let the Falcons go right down the field in 2 minutes to tie it up. Not to mention the Viking's historic offense actually had the ball in overtime and couldn't do anything with it, when it only took a field goal to win back then. Then the defense let Atlanta go down the field again and get a field goal. Seriously, the WHOLE DAMN TEAM CHOKED. Anderson choked, offense choked, defense really choked.
I will always say this
Dennie Green, Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, and Chris Carter had 3 different opportunities to gain 50 yards and give Gary a second chance, but they couldn’t do it.
@@GeoGuy388 Houston without Pastorini and Campbell
The Eagles in that year where they stormed from 4-8 to finish 8-8 and just missed the playoffs had become so strong that they could have won it all.
They waited too long to start playing right lol
the fact that a 10-6 team is on this list, but the 2014 hawks, 2013 broncos, 2011 pats, 2004 eagles, 1997 packers, 1991 bills, 1986 broncos, 1984 bears, 1974 vikings, and 1957 giants arent on this list before it is a crime. this is BEST teams, not most interesting, or highest-powered teams that didn't win it.
One of the tough lessons of being a Dallas Cowboys fan and a NFL fan for 3 decades now... Sometimes the most talented team doesn't win...
Lol at the Dallas Cowboys ever being the most talented team. They weren't even good enough to make this list
