Um your hair is soooo cute! And ,while I love my white sweatshirt, that black sweatshirt is amazing! I don't know what I was thinking ordering white.. I am ALWAYS getting stuff on it.. 😁😁💚🌿 I finally got a philo micans and its so beautiful. And I am enjoying my Ping , from CSN, as she is "catching" alot of gnats.. And I am FINALLY getting some flowers on my hoya bella outer varigated.. my silver almost died but I managed to root some cuttings 👏👏
Ooh here’s something fun about succulents-hummingbirds love the flowers. Last year I grew out a big hanging basket of flowering succulents and hummingbirds visited every day.
Helloo!!! The succulent with clear leaves that you mention are Haworthias.. very easy, friendly type of succulent! And don’t need tons of light like others succulents!
Oo they're doing so well!! Your Brasil is soooo pretty :) all your carnivorous plants are making me want one! Also your hair is so cute! It really suits you!
I always feel like when I have my plants growing up a plank or a pole, (and they outgrow them) but you can tell they put out roots thinking they're still climbing. Do you think that it scares them? I feel like they must feel like they're falling... It makes me so sad. It's funny I have so much empathy for plants and animals but zero empathy for people lol😆
I love that you are getting more into carnivorous plants. I've got a few pings, super easy. Good beginner types are your moranensis, emarginata and crosses, gigantea, moctazumae... I personally love cyclosecta. Surprisingly a few nepenthes do quite well on your windowsill in regular household conditions. I've got 14 on the go. Brad has a section on his website for windowsill nepenthes. There is also a channel with that same name, great resource for growing nepenthes indoors in Canada :) Anyway Fern, have an awesome day
The elongated leaves of your rio are making me warm up to it, I remember hating them before because they're basically the brazil but white and yet they used to cost so much more. I love your verrucosum! I really like them for the veins and the hairy petioles but I've held myself back because I cannot deal with a potential spider mite magnet. I recently got a majestic instead to fill in that role, and I'm hoping to size it up like yours so that I could propogate it and swap cuttings for a splendid. Have you encountered any specific issues with your majestic?
Nepenthe Alata and Lady Luck are the ones that thrive in my environment. I haven’t had much success with any others (St. Gaia & some other NOIDs) I live in Florida and they are still pretty finicky down here and have to be brought inside for winter. Good luck! Loved your favorites. I’m obsessed with my Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus too! Propping is so much fun.
I think the Vanilla Orchid would look so cute on one of those cool transparent trellises that you have. Your Scindapsus looks sooo dreamy I love it! I was FINALLY able to get my hands on one after years of wanting one and not being able to find one here in Puerto Rico.
Love your channel, I also really love your favorite for the month!!!! Your Billie is stunning!!! Can't wait till my boyfriend Billie, grown big like yours!!! It started out in a 3.5 now she is in a 5inch pot and almost ready for a repot!!!
Hey Fern, love this video, I’m so jealous of that Rio 🤤 Also I would love to see a video on where you like to shop for plants, especially online shops. I mostly look at Etsy, but I’m wondering where else to get plants and figured you’d have some suggestions :)
Ah love that vanilla orchid! Question for you - your alocasia video inspired me to finally buy an alocasia cuprea red secret (with one leaf haha). The second leaf came in perfect, but the first one is kind of losing that rich red color and going more green. Have you experienced this before? What do you know about lighting for plants that are this color?
When you had to spell out walk instrad of say walk for your dog Haha. I also have to spell things out so my kids don't get overly anxious and excited. Like if we go to the park I say park. My daughter though is 6 now and learning to spell words and read words by sounding out the letters so it's more difficult.
I’ve tried with scindapsus sooo many times (probably really 3 but it feels like more) and it dies every. single. time. I’ve given up but every time I see someone with theirs I always want to try again and think it’ll be different 😂
Can you do a video on looking through a bunch of Canadian online plant stores?! Like all over Canada?! I live in New Brunswick and there are only a few stores to buy plants from so online shopping is pretty much the only way I can attain plants on my wish list! Maybe rate them on selection and a few other things! Would be an interesting video for us fellow Canadians!
I have a baby Argyeraeus (totally misspelled but I can’t be bothered) that I started from a free bonus cutting. I did not at all expect to like it and I’ve been having so much fun watching it grow! I’d love for it to become nice and full one day!
Where did you get the thing thats on top of your moss pole for the Billie? Ive been looking for something to help with watering and that could be it. Please share when you get a chance. Thank you!
I m not feeling it this time around. So I m just going to focus on getting my plants at their best . One thing I really don't do is fertilizer, so I m going to do it this spring. Big and healthy is my 2023 planty thing to do. No more buying.
I just got a new orchid called “Oncidium Tsuki Marguerite” and it’s honestly so cute. It’s makes the smallest little orchid flowers and currently mine is blooming and it’s the cutest thing. I do recommend. Also I love how your Billie is growing. I got mine a few months ago as a small TC and it’s still super tiny (the biggest leaf is maybe 1.5inches but honestly love it and excited to see it mature especially after seeing yours
You can propagate your butterwort from a leaf pulling! And you can make a really pretty setup with a lava rock and a trey of water, because they naturally grow on rocks which is how i grow them
Oh my goodness 😂 I went to click on a notification on my phone and than you’re video popped up and all of a sudden you were playing 😂😻 YAY!! I love your late night posts 💚✨
Fern, I just joined your Patreon! I’ve been binging videos from the beginning and it’s so crazy to see how much your plants have grown in that time, it’s like I’m watching them grow up lol
The track light you mention for ceiling i think ikea make but with wires you set in wall and have spots on the wires i dont know if holes in wall are better the ceiling
my argyraeus has had like 5 leaves for the past 2 years 😂😭 I’ve tried low light, high light, different humidity settings….it just doesn’t like me I guess. I hope it gets as full as yours one day!
I have a question about your butterwort??? How do you care for it?? I dislike gnats and am constantly killing. I'm thinking of getting a Venus fly trap but I don't want to feed it worms. Those I really don't like. Any advice??
I have mine potted in sphagnum moss with a water reservoir beneath it so it always stays moist :) It's on a south facing window and seems happy there. they're super easy!
Honestly I’m not a big succulent person but I know what you mean by wanting some plants that are different. The plants I currently love in my collection that I consider to be different from my other plants in my collection are my euphorbia trigona, anthurium cochabamaba, and dioscorea elephantipes (I started mine from seed). I highly recommend the anthurium cochabamaba. So far it’s been a fast grower and it has these beautiful, thick, palmate leaves. And it climbs! It’s one of my favorite plants right now. I definitely think I want to pick up a butterwort at some point. I’ve wanted one for years but never got one!
Hi Fern, I just looked up WallyGro and those back spaces are for water. It could be a self-waterer and make your life a little easier. Anything to make being a plant Mom easier. Thank you, Beverly
Such gorgeous plants in this video, I totally get it 😍 I have a Vanilla Orchid too and it came mounted/fully rooted to a birch pole that has been attached thru the nursery pot - to a metal plate on the bottom. 🤨 It still has drainage, but come repotting - it will be interesting to say the least. Any vines that outgrow the current support, I've been cutting to start (hopefully) a new mother plant in a climbing situation 🤞💚 I've rooted it just fine, but haven't gotten it to attach yet. Might buy a similar pole to the existing one to experiment further!
I have the exotica which is about to go into the compost bin.No matter what i do it hardly grows and what grows is leggy.Tried high, low, medium light still leggy growth.
Great video Fern! Beautiful Veracosum-that's a wishlist for me, Amazing Scindapsus-I just got one and noticed the fast growing under a light and also love your orchid-I think he/she would l👀k cool continuing to climb. Thanks for sharing! Sending love and sunshine from Florida 🏖
