+Ola Englund +Pete Thorn I think you both "saved" the HeadRush as the unit looked really disappointing when the first reviews came out. You're both masters for giving G.A.S.! One question, between the HeadRush and Helix, which "feels" less digital and more responsive to your playing ?
LOLOL, Ola, I love your reviews brother. I think you are pretty geared toward metal tones which is what I am generally most interested in as it impacts my personal style. I must admit though I generally follow up here with Pete for varied genre demos. Love you both!
So cool to hear one of these units being used in a way other than ridiculous high gain metal sounds. This tune is so musical and tasteful. Awesome job Pete!
Yes, it is odd considering there are many more non-metal than metal guitarists, that demos seem to be primarily done for the benefit of people in love with the tone killing super high gain sounds.
One of the best gear demos I've ever heard. I bought the song after hearing this. And, I've been saving for a year to get this pedalboard, but now that the Gigboard is out, I'm going that direction.
Top notch. A musical demo not just full on distortion, tuned down metal. I like that stuff but, I like to hear products demoed on a style that shows me what it can do for us gigging Musician’s.
I have a helix, have you ever compared them? what is your thoughts? I love my helix but I am sure I have married the wrong women, as much as I love her.
@@pauljosse😂indeed ! Yeah I've compared them, the line 6 is cool and can sound good but the Headrush just sounds like the real amp and most of the pedals are spot on inside that thing. You could probably sell you line 6 and buy the Headrush used and pocket$600 . That's what I did and I use the Headrush more because it actually sounds like the real thing !
@@AuntAlnico4 icshould add i added a dbxpa2 to my pa and this was what made the helix sound so much better instantly!! what a huge difference!! i got a knock of one from ali express lol
Gotta give it to you, you definitely know this piece of equipment! You've just explained everything the guys at the music store couldn't. Thanks Pete, and excellent chops by the way..
Freaking awesome! This guy’s a fantastic guitarist and a genius! I know it’s an older video now but I just picked up this Headrush pedalboard used, from a friend, and I’m blown away by it!
Simplicity,, is the BEST!!! Love how the Headrush makes it so easy to edit on the fly. BUT, also gives you workable presets out of the gate. Love it!!!
Pete - God has definitely given you a gift far above your peers. You just have these iconic moments in so many of your videos. If I were out there in the Big Time world, I'd beg you to be my producer - honestly - because you just have superior taste for sounds and melody.
this music really stands the test of time, 8 months later i'm back to tell you i'm getting the mx5 gigboard. and to say this is the best gear demo video i've watched to date and i've watched 1000's. the music is sensational pete, thanks. hopefully the mx5 has the same effect (ahem) on me as your unit did on you ! cheers
Don't take this the wrong way but the reason I like watching and listening to Pete is that he doesn't make playing look easy. He looks like he's always working hard, and I like that. Most of the great players make it look so effortless that it demotivates me because I have to work really hard to maintain my very basic skills.
Mr. Thorn, you are without a doubt one of the most underrated players out there. Such an awesome ability to phrase in a tasteful manner. Your vibrato is one of the best and has great effect to a line. You should be a household name. Thanks so much for the demos and review of many pieces of gear. Great explanation provided each and every time. I do hope you are financially compensated for your work. Manufacturer should be beating your door down to have you do what you do.
One of the most musical musicians today. A lot of guys can play technical stuff that, while impressive, tends to bore me. Pete never bores me. Always interesting songs and playing.
this is a few years after you posted this. better late than never, I guess. I have wondered which modeler to invest in for a while. A modeler is a modeler is a modeler... . So many different videos showing how each sounds, can be used, etc. By you and others. This is the best use of the whammy pedal effect I've heard yet. I think it is the decider. I will by the Headrush! Thanks, Pete! Cheers!
I have one of these after years of using pedals and was about to give up until I saw this video - thank you for making this brilliant and so helpful demo
You should have a million subscribers! Your demos are great, and your tone secrets are spot-on. What sets you apart, in my mind, from most all of the other Internet shredders/guitarists out there is your sense of phrasing and musicality in your soloing. You're a top shelf player, man.
can't get this music out my head for days, those double octave bends !! this might be my next 'amp' tremendous playing/composing Pete, ty for the upload
I love your channel. Its the only one I find that isn't all drop C metal. This product went to all the top RUclipsrs and you're the only one who demoed it how I would use it. Thanks Pete
Wow, I am really impressed!!! Absolutely fantastic playing and engineering by a man who clearly has total command over a wide range of technique and dynamics with beautiful tone using effects to enhance his sound rather than disguise a lack of skill or ability. Pete's playing here is never a showy exercise of technique, but technique that serves expression. He lets you know that he can shred with the best of them, but his musicianship is about composition, space and time. Pete's review was clear, informative and interesting. He is a great musician with or without fancy equipment and oh yeah, the pedal board looks and sounds like a great investment.
Dude has chops, dynamics, and tone. I'm constantly in a state of perpetual hyptnosis when I hear PT'S music. Then his narratives come in and you realize - Hey, this guy is Real! His vocabulary set is idealistic.... I actually can understand what he's Saying! LOL! It's pretty simple.... he's obviously gifted...and has undoubtedly put in untold hours not only practicing...but listening as well. Pete, please come to Sacramento CA for a performance & clinic. I'm serious dude.
Pete Thorn_ don't thank me dude- I hope your career lasts a long long time... now get off your butt and schedule a clinic in Northern California! LOL!... get on up here to Sacramento I want to bring a bunch of people to see you live!
Pete, you create the most amazing melodies. They inspire me, but more than that they transport my mind to faraway places. I often wonder why you haven’t pursued a solo career, and put these onto an album for fans like me. I would snatch every one up. Nobody’s music has sounded this good to me in a very long time. As for gear demos - I enjoy them so much, but ultimately I realize the magic is not in the gear; it’s in the fingers. Rock On !
Damn, Pete. Just...damn. I'm an 11 Rack guy and was hearing about this board and came here to hear your take on it. Instead I've just been looping that incredible composition, over and over, with tears in my eyes. I can't find words. Thank you for my new favorite instrumental piece...ever.
I ordered one. Sold my Mesa Mark IV running into AxeFx Ultra. Had that rig for over 8 years, feeling blue selling it but looking forward to this one. With a kid on the way, just don't have enough time these days to tweak every single parameter to death and want something that works well and quick to set-up so more time can be spent learning the actual guitar instead obsessing over tones.. that's my goal now
Oh man, I can't stop to come back again and again to listen to your jam ! It is so great ! And I just found it is in Spotify !!! Thanks for your music !
Why are you talking about Best Demos? This is a Best Song on any platform. Pete's is the only demo channel I come back to hear the songs again and again. He can noodle hits in his sleep.
I often get overwhelmed by the amount of choices that I have to modified my sound, and end up playing something much simpler. You have an amazing ability to go left, right, north, south, clean wet etc etc and make it all sound well in the context of the same song. Amazing ability!

I use this thing every day professionally. I keep it on the JCM 800 model and never need any other patches. It pulls off the whole clean-to-dirty-with-guitar-volume-and-boost concept amazingly well.
Technically, Pete's playing is of such a high order. My impression is that his early appreciation of artists like The Beatles reveals itself in the melodic quality of his style. I think his openness to, and embrace of new technologies really adds to his playing and makes him an excellent spokesperson for their use. Very informative video. I like how he showed how this multi-effects board can easily incorporate your favorite pedals. Thanks.
