Great job, Pete! I’ve been jamming mine for the last week and making some cool presets and videos. The Headrush team are great people and you did an amazing job demoing this unit. Cheers brother!
Truth, but the MX5 really does sound fantastic- the high gain sounds are very 'alive' and responsive. I have mine directly in front of me and what Pete is showing here does actually exist within the processor (with a small bit of tweaking).
You have the Midas touch and ears, never heard a demo of yours that doesn’t kill, you make it all sound like gold. Love it and thank you for your music!!! Cheers
It's been said enough to beat a mudhole in the road and beat that mudhole dry!! Pete, U R magic on Guitar, thanks for all U do!!! God has blessed u my friend and blessed US guitar nerds to have you!!
This is an amazing piece of gear ! Small and powerful is the ticket . At my age the less I can carry to a gig and get the job done gets my attention . Glad to see the 5 string in use . Great job as always ! Thanks Pete !
I like how everything is so cliche’ (in a good way), you don’t have to guess what the preset is about (and that’s just by ear). Finally some bass presets worth using. Your plexi preset sounds great solo’d. The clean presets are beautiful. Sounds like you could make any sound you want with this.
I like to watch demos and guess the price. This was much less expensive than I thought. There are a lot of single function pedals that cost more that this workhorse.
Killer demo Pete, that MX5 sounds really good. Killer riffage Pete, you have some heavy ass catchy chops without question. Headrush did great with that unit. 🤟
I know this is an older video, but I am always amazed at your versatility in music. I can see why you are so good of a guitar player and hired gun. Very cool sir. ❤
I’ve been using mine for about a year and loving it more. After tweaking the presets and building my virtual board I run my iPhone into the aux playing a bands mp3 to rehearse along with and it’s mind blowing. I assign the pedals I use most to the foot switch and keep the others off. Just touch them if needed. The only thing I’ve gotten better at is not fat foot the switches and inadvertently change a patch.
That seems to be a pretty nice Modeler with a good feature set. Had it been available 8 months ago, I might have purchased it instead of the HX Stomp. Tonewise, the MX5 seems to be on par with better units in this price range and size. It's amazing what $400 can get you these days in a modern Modeler. Thanks
It was only a matter of time for HeadRush to come out with something to compete with the HX Stomp and the BOSS Core. As usual, sounds great and is the least expensive.
Dude you have to tell us what special brand of (shred)coffee that is (@ 0.47)..... From the moment you've had a couple of sips of coffee it's shredfest all the way! :-) Killer tones and playing Pete, amazing as always!!!
Man! Those tweaks you made to the Modern Plexi rig sound unreal! Just picked up an MX5 last week. So far was able to get great clean sounds out of it, but having difficulty getting something close to how my 100W JCM 900 head sounds. Bought this to hopefully save me hauling a half stack around to gigs all the time.....
Keep working with it. I was in your similar boat. See what you think of the Soldano "SL Crunch" and "SL Drive" and the Mesa "Treadplate" ("Vintage" and "Modern") models which delivery high gain, yet can still focus and breathe. I use them all for various flavors and guitar combos. I always come back to the stock 4x12 V20 cab preset -- and don't forget to play with "Amp Gain", "Breakup", and mic type and position settings in the cabs, as some hidden magic lurks there! I like "Amp Gain" at 18dB, "Off Axis", "Cond 87, "Breakup" at 90. Doesn't hurt to try! Happy tone-hunting!
That song was schizo in ALL the right ways. Whisper to a scream.. I love stuff like that... Like a Jellyfish song with distorted guitars in it and TUBA for the bass parts.. Great stuff man..
Thanks for the review Pete! Can I suggest adding acoustic guitar IR demos and any suggestions on different types of rigs to set up? Would love to hear your ideas for polkas, waltzes, country, cha-chas. sambas, tangos on acoustic guitar!
@@arnyarny77 really depends on your use case. I am a fan of having footswitch capabilities while jamming to spotify. Also use the looper quite a bit. If just for recording you could get away with plugins for sure most plugins/modelers all sound really good these days
I just love you man. What a player. What a guy 🤘🏻😁
I sure like the heavy metal side of Pete thorn!!! More of it please!
Still listen to your song for the headrush pedalboard "rush to the head". What a masterpiece!
Absolutely!!
Great job, Pete! I’ve been jamming mine for the last week and making some cool presets and videos. The Headrush team are great people and you did an amazing job demoing this unit. Cheers brother!
The problem with Pete is that he can make a brick sound amazing - that’s versatile he is.
Truth, but the MX5 really does sound fantastic- the high gain sounds are very 'alive' and responsive. I have mine directly in front of me and what Pete is showing here does actually exist within the processor (with a small bit of tweaking).
Not really
@@tommyibanez3958 huge question. how does it handle lightly overdriven. Can it SRV?
As I have stated many times about Pete..guy can make full album with a toothbrush and Ritz cracker brother.. 😂
@@coppulor6500 It can. You just have to make your own preset and tweak it. I just started making presets on mine
Need more Pete Thorn playing Heavy Rock/Metal. That into was OFF. THE. CHAIN!!!!!! 🤩🤩

I’m not a metal guy, but this is definitely your best work and the metal is awesome.
That intro ... Again ! Pete - You create the best music these days just to demo some modeler !!! Masterpiece ...
:) Hey thank you, 🙏 I’m glad you like what I do
Love that distorted tone at 8:26.....sounds great.
Those chords at the end sound so damn cool, for a few moments I was somewhere else :)
You demo gear better than anyone by putting it in a great original song that we watch you play the parts. You have been amazing since you were a kid.
That was a great demo, because it’s a great multidimensional piece of tonework. You get some wild tones. Thanks for sharing.
Man, that opener was sick! The harder part was epic! Great review. Thanks!
Dude, that intro song was awesome!
Thanks Sam :)
@1:15 didn't expect that sound at all but that was perrrrrrfect! Idk how you can literally just write a song for every product demo.

A modeler that I think even I could understand and use! Thanks, Pete! That looper has me intrigued.

Thanks!
When Pete Take The Stage i'm always Amazed about The Tons of Tasty Riffs That he Pull Out from His Fingers.. You Are an Inspiration . 🎸🎸🎸

Your little “throw away” pieces that you record for demo’s are amazing 🤘🏽😎🤘🏽.
Pete Thorn is a beast! The intro cut was soooooo bad ass!
The grain on that Exploder! Nice!
I love the Destroyer!! What a great addition!!
Yes makes me want 2 beat my Head into the wall I had a Gibson solid body & neck fire engine red one year only made in the 80's, memories!!!
I bought my original HeadRush pedalboard because of Pete’s original video years ago.
Still using it for my main recording and gigging rig.
Great demo, cheers! You got me on Sweetwater buying one right now 🎶
No one does gear demos better than Pete Thorn. 🤘🤘
some nice tones can tell this guy loves Guitars
Great piece of music.
That half time riff at 1:19 is worthy of a whole tune.
What a great way to summarize a device: use it to make something new and then show each piece alone. Aces mate!
I don't know about you, but i'm here for the songs. Everytime a great music idea perfectly executed. Great job Mr. Thorn.
There were a couple of places where you sounded Beatles (chords, etc). Thank you Pete for that nice demo !
Awesome man! And great playing as always. No matter what unit you are demoing - you make me want to buy it
Thanks for the video. Hello from Belarus. I want to buy the Headrush MX5 too.
If this had come out 6 months ago I would have one right now. I’ll probably get one. It looks great and the price point is insane
Killer track, unexpected twists!
Best content in this category, love your work!
Thank you 🙏

Nice song combining classic rock and heavy sounds :D
Pete, you totally “get it”…. Jer from Headrush
Yooooooo! This thing is incredible. I kicked my Mooer Ge200 out the door, and picked up this little bunch of sweetness.
I just ordered one after seeing your video. I am very impressed and can't wait!
Holy s$&@….what a medley! I can’t believe you strung those genres all together …and it actually worked!
I have no idea how it worked either 😂

Hey, what guitar is that @1:16 ? it looks and sounds awesome!
interested to see this vs the nux mg-30
Killer demo and awesome tones 🤘🤘
The intro song is great as the pedal. Thanks!
Is the champagne color guitar a Sire S7?

What was that gorgeous tobacco burst with the f-hole. Guitar is absolutely beautiful.
Hey Pete cheers from NY! That was an awesome intro my man, so coolio!
I was just looking at this MX5 this morning so thanks for the review sir. :-)
What a great little unit and an excellent demo as always Pete. 👍✌
Thank you VERY much for this awesome product showcase. Way better than the factory video. Your playing rox too!

Any ideas on the lifetime of the display?
Just got the bigger head rush unit. Didn't think i would like it but I really love it. These guys know what they are doing. Great demo Pete.
Awesome as always!! 👌👌👌Is that a Steve Lukather signature EMG set on that Suhr?
Great demo ! An excellent FX modeler ! Helix killer ! I've got it

A little Cory Wong in that intro….nice demo man!
love your style and playing man!
Thank you so much!
As much as I enjoy the reviews....I mainly tune in for the riffs...your playing is always fresh and interesting....Thanks
Man u said it!! Pete has more talent in his pinky than most have in their entire body, keep rocking brother!
New sub right here, just for that chunky riff in the intro
Amazing demo!
Very cool, great review Pete.
How does Pete get such pristine recordings with no hum and noise!?
Just ordered via your sweetwater link. Thank you for the review. Keep ripping that guitar, dig the videos.
I just did the same!
@@minisurfbanana nice! Hope you dig it. I've been really enjoying mine.
so how did you like the headrush? i would like to know if there is a difference between using the modeler vs an amp sim plug in

Can this unit do the thing where the Rotary sound ramps from slow to fast when U use the pedal?
Great review Pete! Thanks!
As always the First Review i need to see its Pete
Exquisite! Both review and arrangements.✌
Thanks!
New subscriber! Thanks for your knowledge and talent! Very helpful video! Keep the great work!
What is that red guitar he uses second?? That thing looks awesome.
I love how you switch guitars so fast Pete!! 😂
Incredibly well done demo!! I have a Headrush frfr108... plus this unit would be a versatile but portable rig.
