Hey guys,
Once again, the Headrush Pedalboard shows how good it can sound with different tones!
Amazing piece of gear for the price
You'll have to excuse the out of focus shots once again! Still getting used to this new camera!
Thanks for watching
Rabea
Rabea Massaad
What's that video of you and Dave at the end?
how come I don't see you play your new Signature guitar as much ? in the new videos or anywhere ?
Awesome playing and tones!
Rabea Massaad hey what's the name of the color for that ML1 ur playing?
SO many great players on tube, plenty far more “technical” players with more absolute ability but very very few can play with so much natural talent and a natural channel of emotion than this guy.... just brilliant. Keep going.
Totally agree
i just bought one today, after two weeks of watching reviews and youtube videos, also i went to the store and tried the helix, i went buying a headrush... im a former Hd500x user. But the headrush will save my time easier to use and esit tones. Time is gold... 👍🏼
Instrumentalists Jade How does it compare to the HD500x? Does it really sound that much better?
3:24, that patch is macho!!! I love the fuzz behind the lead gain!
I've had mine for a week and I'm really enjoying it, so easy to use. Headrush rocks !
You're one of the few artists out there who can get the very best out of this kind of gear! So many demos ruin this kind of tech for me personally. You bring out the most usable and musical tones these things have to offer. Thanks!
Bea touches on a huge point, order of effects matters. Many of us wouldnt think of this, but it matters. 👍
The Dark Side of the Moon hair trick; the best part of the video!!
You sound soooooo good with a Strat. You sound sooo good with a Strat... please, use it more often!!!
Duuuude! It sounds awesome! Keeps integrity of the tone of the Strato, that really sounds like a Strato, as it supposed to. Great piece of gear!
Enjoy these vids you've been making of the Headrush and especially the ambient riffs you've been doing, they sound great. There seems a big difference between the presets and the custom patches so the more custom tones videos, the more idea we can all get of tones it's capable of. Any future vids showing the wah, or any shootouts you could do with other gear are much appreciated, as I'm trying to choose between this, Ax8 and Helix. The layout of this seems great, just a question mark of the tones.
loving the reverb in my right ear
this headrush is beyond amazing thumbs up all the way, every an absolutley any style or gendre of music you play can easily get the sound you want
New game! Everytime Bea says "to be honest" take a drink. Everytime he says "to be fair" finish your beer 👍 Another great vid man!
DAT intro riff on 1:55 was so awesome I forgot about video trying to get it right in drop B tuning, and ... luckily I did!
Very cool. I just picked up a used Headrush Pedalboard on Reverb, and came across your demo. Thanks for the tips. I can't wait to get mine!
Hey Rabea. I'm not a metal guy at all, I don't really get the sort of music you're associated with. But every time I've heard you play a Stratocaster I'm totally blown away by your Strat tones (well, definitely the cleaner ones). It's interesting to hear a "prog metal" guy who absolutely smashes it with fat classic Strat tones. Guess it goes to show that you shouldn't reduce someone to a label. I'm a Strat guy, but I definitely like the bigger stereo verbs and delays, so perhaps that's part of it. Anyway; love the Strat tones dude!
I'm 100% into atmospheric blues. Teaching myself leads after years of touch and go guitar picking around as drummer. Almost 30 years. When I stopped playing drums due to apmt and going through Katrina storm, I had my kids with me to raise so I got guitar and taught my son. Hes amazing today plays stuff classical and all but his band is heavy and fast. That stuff the young crowd likes. Lol. Hes great. Disareyan is his band. They have eps and all out on iTunes and Google play RUclips too I believe. Anyway. When he and his sister moved out within last few years I finally said damn I need to Express more. I have been writing with moxf6 on its sequencer. So last year I took the plunge. I had found a new FSR MIm strat. I love pink floyd. So I liked the gilmouresque vibe. Anyway. I've only been practicing about 6 months. I have a long way to go. But I absolutely love the sound you are talking about. Anyway. Sorry for the story. But it's a necessity since I started late. Hahaha. I've bought a few guitars recently. I upload my progress. I dont edit and use a phone. Mainly for my own progression memories. See how far I have come. Sometimes it feels backwards. Since I always either make my own backing track then hit record and noodle around. Or I'll find a RUclips backing track and do same. I did one today and in the hurry I was all over the frets lost as I try to play by ear and also from what little knowledge i have of the pentatonic scales. Hahaha. Anyway. Up late. Felt to read about this pedal board. I think it would serve nicely on the atmo ...But I'm probably going to have to get something more affordable. I have a rp360xp and I really DO NOT like it. Might be my vox vt20x is a modeling amp itself. Idk. Anyway. I'll let you go here. Stranger speaks that's me. Lmao. Peace.
Try a les Paul
He is EXTREMELY versatile
OMG BEA YOUR ARE MAKING THEM GAINS! Lol You are awesome at what you do. Keep up the absolutely amazing and impeccable work my friend.
I'd love the tab for that intro piece. Outstanding dude.
Thank you so much for this competent demo of what it can really do. Other reviews hadn't led me to believe it was anything special, but the tones you got are fantastic. Plus the stereo rig example is exactly what I was looking for. Great stuff!
I think the Headrush is for me, thanks for the demo Bea. I'm sold, I had Kemper and Helix on the short list but I like the pedalboard feel of this one plus touch screen. I don't gig, I play at home with limited time so patches are for me.
3:07 I really hope that turns in to a Toska track.
I´d love to sing along to some of your jams....so much feeling...so Karnivoolesque. Love it.
That tone at 3.10 is enough for me to have serious GAS!!!! 1🤘🤘
Rabea, is there anywhere we can download your patches? That strat patch in the beginning is EPIC!
I just picked this pedalboard up and I am glad I did.
Can't wait to see you get your hands on the Prime!
Ahh I don’t think I’ll be looking at it to be honest. I heard some sound clips and wasn’t overly impressed with the tones I heard. Personally I’m really happy with the Quad Cortex for what I do. I may be biased towards the brand, however I wouldn’t allow my biases to compromise what I use for my music and professionally on tour etc. just my thoughts
HI mate, really great demo and playing!!! Now I am tempted to get one!! Thanks again
Rabea, that was fully sick. what a massive opening tone on a strat. love your feel on the guitar.
Great reverb and tones from there.
That's a GREAT riff dude, love that shit 3:24
Awesome job. I just bought one.
This has some things others do not which will help if you are a guitarist that records by yourself. It is an audio interface through USB. You can plug in head phones or speakers to the out put and listen to full stereo playback. You can jam through your monitors, record with direct and effects separate so you can also reamp later, and you have footswitches so, unlike most software, you can switch stuff live while recording. I don't like modeling amps and have no need for them. I do need an easy but quality way to record real sounding and feeling guitars. Use a load box like Radial or Motu make, use a couple powered speakers or some headphones and a fast laptop and you have a decent studio to go.
Thanks for the demo.......nice SOUNDS.........
One day I'll be able to afford a Custom shop guitar too lol. Awesome guitar Bea!
Great video/playing! It would be awesome if you would do a comparison of the the Headrush vs. real amps and pedals just to see how it stacks up to the real thing. Those of us who are on the fence on these digital modeling things would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for doing these videos!
Could you make a video of you just playing, jamming, just you and your guitar. I would love that.
Bought one. Leaving my amp and cab at home since. My back is very happy but most of all the sound is great Straight to the PA. Sometimes I use in ears for monitor mostly do not bother.
Rabea, have you ever been asked to do a tour with a popular, big artist.. Like what Pete Thorn does. I think it would be great to see you with a first class headliner..
Bea, you're an effing beast on that geetar!!! Love your reviews! Thanks.
looking at getting this and one of the chapman baritone guitars soon...
I do hope that opening song is a new dorje epic Power balad.
William Stanway Hey! It's like this song, in other tonality: ruclips.net/video/bdx9R6L9D2I/видео.html
Great demo. I’m interested to know if you still use it and how it sounds at gig levels ?
Hey Bea! How would you compare this against the line 6 helix/helix LT?
Probably Kemper.
From my observations I can tell you that it comes really close if not equal to the Helix in terms of tone and quality, but on top of that Headrush's interface is much more user friendly. It's also cheaper
The Helix is very, very user friendly. When I first got it, I had to look up how to use it because it was so much simpler than I expected. I was trying too hard to understand it.
The Headrush has copied some of the Helix goodies, but I believe the sound, physical connections, and routing options are much more expansive on the Helix. That said, the Headrush doesn't look like a bad option either.
If you could only have one.....
Helix or Headrush or ax8
I have played through all 3. They are all great. I think the headrush is a little easier to operate and the tones are great and it is cheaper so I prefer it over the others. But you can't go wrong with any of them.
Hey Rabea can you share the rig/tones you created with the Headrush?
Just ordered a Head Rush to use as effects only in 4-cable method with my Friedman Be 50 and 4x12 cab. I was hoping to possible replace the heavy Friedman head but thus far I have yet to hear a mid to high gain tone that did not sound fizzy on the top end. That is the instant give away to my ears. Maybe that is just over YT and once i get the HR into my studio it will sound better.....let's hope. It would be ideal to have the HR into a clean power amp into the 4x12 cab but not sure that would sound good enough. looking forward to trying it out. Great video B!
Get a mooer baby bomb and delete the cab block on the headrush, connect them to your 4x12 (if it is 8 or 16 ohm) and you'll have an amazing sound and very loud!!!
Thank you, Rabea.
There is a band called Earth7 that uses these exclusively direct into the pa. Sounds bad ass. They have stuff on RUclips. They are kind of like a mix between Chon, animals as leaders, and maybe a little bit of periphery.
You have the experience with (I think) all the modelers available. Which one you prefer?
Do you still jam the drums
Thank you for the review! EXACTLY what I wanted to know!
Where might we find the settings for Rabea's new rig??
If you had to choose this or the Helix, for live, which would you say would work best for a player that is a die hard amp guy that plays all kinds of styles. I'm usually a pedalboard through a clean amp guy. I would totally respect your opinion!
Check out the Fractal man, top tier sounds in there
Sounds very interesting! I would like to ask:
1) Would you recommend it over a Line6 Helix?
2) Would you recommend it for the FX and expression pedal only, in case I got myself a nice amp (I really am into the Blackstar HR20R these days...)
Thank you!
Rock on
Question; can you plug this into any amplifier?
I am curious, do you think any string noise is bleeding through your vocal microphone? It seems like I can hear a little, the unit definitely sounds killer, but I'm wondering if some of that chime/string attack is bleeding through the room mic?
Great feel/playing btw!
Hi Bea, I know you have had close ties with Boss recently. I've not found anything better than my GT-Pro, The Delay and quality is right up there with the 500 series. I use pedals mainly. It's always handy to have a swiss army knife quality multi effects to practice and inspire. My GT-Pro is poorly and wonder where you rate the headrush in comparison. I don't want amp sim or front end effects like dest/OD. Just effects you would put in the loop. UI is of no issue to me. What would you replace a GT-pro with based on sound and effect quality alone. Cheers my friend. Stay safe in these strange times.
wow .nice chord progression in the start
Fantastic review and playing as per usual Bea🍻🤘🏻👍🏻
Just ordered one of these with the free 108 speaker. Only £774 from GG.
I was tempted to take advantage of that deal myself but I can’t decide if the helix line 6 is worth the extra moolah lol!
I think you missed using the 4 chord method. You can run with board separating the pre amp and power amp of a blackstar lets say. Than you can decide which board FX you in front of blackstar pre amp, or after that and before the power amp. Also the IR downloads you can put on here. I gotta get me one of these.
Thanks for a very simple, straightforward demo. This Headrush interface really sells itself, though.
Do you have any experience using the FX Loop(s)? If so, how is the sound performance? FX loops on on some processors seem to be after thoughts for the manufacturers, and don't really perform that well. I'm particularly interested in running line outs from other processors into the Headrush. Any impressions you can post would be appreciated.
rgds
Love the song at the beginning, is that in dropped D?
I am bouncing between the Headrush & Helix. I would be playing this thru a slightly broken up Fender style amp for Allman/Crowes tones 90% of the time with some VH/STP tones now and then. After watching countless videos I feel they both have good tone, but the Helix seems to have time on its side with most of the bugs worked out and would be a better choice if I don't really care about the touch screen interface. I would think once you got your tones down, how often are you really going to mess with it other than a tweak now and then. I've called MF asking if the Helix will be on sale and they said the Helix & HR are currently price locked due to demand and no sale or discounts can be used. I might just pull the trigger, but as of right now.... It's the Helix 4 me. What do you guys think?
Hi Rabea. do not be so hard on yourself xD 4min14, we do not care, it's a demo. we love you. thank you for your review and your originality. We need you to give us your opinion for helix vs headruch. it's difficult for everyone, including me. I expected you to slice. big thanks to you. ps: when will you come with your group toska in FRANCE 🇫🇷 ?
Can you use it to focus your camera?
+TinyRoboticPiggies apparently not
Headrush seems awesome and really powerfull, but honestly I was just really digging your playing on this video. What would you think about building a rig with the headrush and a solidstate stereo power amp like a rocktron velocity or similar?
Plus u can get your own IR"s into the pedalboard which will improve big time each amp's
Really great pedalboard demo. Have you tried the Line 6 Helix LT, which had better Amp models?
I'm sorry if I missed it, but was the pedal paired with an amp or was this direct input from the pedal to the mixer and you just played it over your monitors for your own needs? I think this is a stellar device and love the sound it generates. I am leaning towards buying one because I only have about 550sqft to work with where I live and can't justify multiple amps and pedals and such. I originally bought a Line 6 Spider IV (boo) to try and minimize how much space I occupied at home but still have versatility and keep all my other stuff out and about and, you know, my wife needs some space, too :P.
I just noticed that you have the exact same neon guitar light that I have had since ..
Well, I bought mine in around 2004 ..
Way cool!
I also have the blue Fender neon light ..
But no way does my studio look that complete ..
Still working on it ..
Rabea your opening jam sounds like an Opeth song. ALSO You guys neeeeeed to do Sounds Like Opeth on Andertonstv. That or sounds like Death. Trying to get their solo/lead tone would be awesome I think. IDK if Andertons have BC Rich though?
Damn that is one nice strat
Rabea can you share what tuning you're using? You seem to always use it and I love the tones you get out of it.
This pedal looks fantastic but for the price I'm much more interested in the Zoom G5n. I know the Zoom isn't as ergonomic as the Headrush but I was wondering was what your opinion on the Zoom in comparision to this one. Are the sound of the Zoom satisfying for you and is the expression pedal easy to use ?
Deffinetley getting this
9.06. Chapman's favourite part of the vid.
good demo
Great demo man! Thanks for the effort.
when you panned it stereo i could only hear it out of the left one, but as you went on i could hear the echo in the other ear, it was a bit strange aha, not sure if anyone else experienced this? was it meant to sound like that?
It was the same for me, I guess one of the settings was a bit off. However, I think this unit sounds fantastic. :)
Marco Philipp indeed! definitely gives you a run for your money, especially when compared to the dearer alternatives out there!
usually he runs his krakens stereo so he might have run it through the cabinets and miced each one up, but it is possible that he ran it stereo through his interface. if he had done that he might have been sat in front of his desk instead...
Oh thank god! I dropped my bose quiet comforts and thought I’d buggered them up lol 🙄😳
wow great playing!
Hey Bea. Can you run the Headrush directly into a cab? Cant seem to figure that out
Awesome demo Bea, the headrush looks great.
My only issue with this video is that every time your camera isn't in focus I start thinking I need glasses :P
James Crawford -- was thinking the same thing. I think his camera gets focused on the background of the room when he sets it up!
+James Crawford sorry man, it's a new camera and I keep making mistakes setting it up hahah
I'll take any Bea I can get... focused or not!!
Don't worry man, it's cool. Still a helpful and insightful video \m/
Hi Rabea, great demo. Really Cool!! Let me ask you do you prefer the Headrush or the Line 6 Helix Floor. I have the Line 6 HX Stomp but I want to buy the Headrush or the Line 6 Helix Floor? Can you help?
Does anybody know what videos can i watch on how pedals and pedalboards work. how to put them together and all this stuff he's talking about? Would much appreciate it!!
Can you tell me about the spillover feature?
Did you record the session directly by plugging the pedalboard to your audio interface?
To me these sound a lot better than the Helix. I have heard that running two IR's at the same time can use up a lot of DSP. I typically only run one at a time so for me that is no big deal.
I run 2 IR's and all effects with no problem.
Rabea I have been going back and forth between Helix LT and the Headrush. Most reviews of the Headrush left me underwhelmed. Most only do is high gain and metal reviews, so much so I wondered if it had any life with the cleaner to mid-gain crunch models. Then I found your review and you easily set up a sound I have been trying to achieve with my very faithful but rudimentary PODxt Live. I just could not get the right sound out of it. Then I bought my Mini-Rectifier with the 1x12 Cab to try to bridge tube analog and digital but the POD failed miserably in that respect and I knew I had to upgrade my effects and modeller.
I am mainly a vocalist/songwriter so my setup is a bit smaller scale and you have all but convinced me to buy the Headrush over the LT. Prince is a big influence on my music and I think if he had to choose he would dig the Headrush based on your review. Anyway if I buy one I am coming back to this video to build my first rig based on the sounds your setup here. I really do dig the Helix LT but it seems a little too smooth for my style and touch. Does that make any sense? Anyway, this or that should help me bring to life some of my tracks you can hear on my website for a band I have yet to launch successfully - www.satred.com Thanks for the cool review!
Would you buy this over the Fractal Axe effects. Pedal board
Hi Bea how does the sound quality of the Headrush effects compare to the Strymon gear ❓🇨🇮🎸
Can you plug this straight into a cab or do you need a power section to run through first?
If i were to hook this to a pa, would i use speaker cables or instrument cables? and hooking to the return on my amp what cable would i use? by the way you rock!! Very nice playing
Fran S use instrument or patch cables. Speaker cables don't usually have the same shielding and can induce or pickup noise.
Hey Rabea... how does this (or their newer one) compare with the Helix?
Love the focus and the post sharpen haha
sounds so awesome
Curious why you decided to take the Helix on tour rather than the Headrush?
Music Islife I'm pretty sure it was mainly due to touring with Leo. The Helix and Variax combo is a definite answer, since he has to change tunings so much.
Hi Rabea. Great work as ever. I’m fairly new to playing so I don’t know all the different tones & settings if all the makes of amps & pedals. A mate looked at the list of amps on my headrush & made a guess at some but is there a list available which will tell you which makes the various models on the board are designed to mimic as I have no clue. When I watch your sounds like videos I don’t know which pedals or amps etc to choose from my headrush aa I don’t know which they are.
Keep up the good work. Ooh & for kicks could you do a sounds like big country vid? Ebows everywhere!!
How do you like this in co parison to Kemper stage?
Hey Man! Great Video - Question though, the big sell point on paper is the effect bleed and zero latency changes - how does this beast perform going from Heavy patches to clean patches with different effect settings?
