Mr Ryan - would you mind compare Headrush vs Helix. Considering Helix LT being same $ as headrush it would help to navigate in decision making process.
I loved my Eleven Rack and I'm glad to see it kinda lives on with this board. Thankfully they've added IR loading which was probably the main thing the 11R was missing.
You do awesome demos man. Love the Fluff. Someone who has the time, the engineering skills to dial in great tones, who can play well and has nice guitars, who knows how to record and mix demos can usually get a good usable metal tone from most of these devices. In a blind test, with a pro recording like this not many people could tell them apart.
I've been waiting for this one. I'm on the fence between this and the Helix LT. Also on my list is the Helix used to get me down in my budget. I don't own amps, too lazy and have studio equipment. I currently record with the POD. It's just simple for me...just want to play when I get home from work. Messing with a pedalboard, amps, mic-ing cabs isn't for me so this may be my ticket.
Youve probably made a purchase already but i love my headrush, i use it for modern metal mainly. I have heard from many people that the Helix LT has durability issues with the expression pedal. Tone-wise, i also prefer headrush
what a great pedal. Love how intuitive it is. so much intelligent thought gone onto this. Love the hybrid preset/ stomp layout..what a great idea! so tempted to splash the cash on this one
Best SOUNDING demo of this so far. There are a lot of haters out there, from the Fractal & Line 6 camps. I think this unit is really promising, as long as it will be supported with firmware updates etc.
i thank you fluff..i ve been looking very closely at this..im going at guitar playing completely different as of late...im super surprised at how well modeling..and other non tube applications are now , and im stoked on it..I just never thought we d be getting sounds like this..thanx super informative...great wrk
The problem I think was that at Namm, at least on the videos about this, the guy doing the demo didn't have the best sound, maybe it was the recording of it that may have sounded good in the room but when recorded didn't sound as good as the demo's done by Fluff, Ola and The Tone King, sound good though and the ease of use is a gigantic plus, can get a new tone going in seconds and that is going to be a big selling point to people who are buying their first serious piece of gear, especially if they aren't familiar with how to use something like this, well done Headrush!
This is a great unit but since Fluff talks about using it in 4CM on here I want to give a heads up to anyone who is thinking about doing the same. I own one and spoken with Headrush about it. 1. It can not support spillover (tail) of the on-board delay/reverb in presets used with an amp in 4CM. This happens whenever you engage the Headrush effects loop. 2. Thier is a latency when using this unit to change channels on my EVH 5150 50 watt via midi. Not sure why but it's noticeable. 3. To any one that likes to use high gain amplifiers I would suggest keeping your noise gate if you plan to play at loud volumes before relying on Headrush gate. It's pretty good but I still prefer my ISP G-String which I was hoping to not need anymore. The signal path is super clean and the quality is great, alot of the demos and on board presets do not do it justice. It is definitely easy to use. Hope this helps.
Fluff, would love to see a comparison video of some of your favorite tube amps to model amps. I can tell you love the Headrush, would be nice to see a side-by-side comparison of IR v the real amps - like many have done with Kemper and the like. This thing does look awesome - the touch screen looks unbelievably easy to use. The signal chain looks extremely easy to figure out and use. Thanks, man.
kris hartzell That was the plan, I decided to not go that route because of a couple reasons. The first being that when I used the Headrush to switch the channels on the EVH via midi there was a slight delay going from one patch to another. The other was that you lose your trails on the delays/reverbs when you use it in 4CM (Any patch that has the effects loop of the Headrush on doesn't have the ability to retain trails mode). The unit is fun and easy to use but I think it's better suited for other setups.
for bedroom volume should I get a Headrush frfr108 or small active studio speakers? I play metal, but I never play above bedroom volumes since I am not in a band
Ryan, on your comment below about nothing digital is similar to tube amp, I will have to very respectfully partially disagree. After being a big tube amp fan for over 20 years, I did not want to bother and waste time with all this technology, but finally I gave in to the hype. I have tried all these modelers Axe-Fx II, Kemper, and Helix for over a year now and have been trying the Headrush for the last 2 weeks. In terms of amp sound, when a Kemper is plugged into a good transparent power amp like a Fryette power station and cabinet, it is indistinguishable from a real tube amp in terms of tone and feel. There is still a tube factor due to power amp section, so I partially agree with your comment. The Class D power amp that comes with the Kemper does not do it for me, sounds compressed and not good for live use. However, with a good power amp, Kemper rocks and other modelers do not come close for my taste. Did many blind tests with friends playing various genres from jazz, blues, hard rock, to death metal, and we are all in agreement. In terms of effects, Kemper made a big step forward with the new delays and improvements in latest OS releases, which are pretty good for me for recording, but for live use I think the effects in Helix, Axe, or Headrush still sound a little better. For a person, who is not too crazy on effects playing live, it should not make a big difference though. I love your videos by the way, keep up the good work. You, Ola, and Pete Thorn rock...
This sounds nice, and the effects are super good, and the whole thing seems very well thought out, with the switching and all that. Frankly, though. Line 6 helix has the Archon modeled, as well as a 5150/6505, which is like 90% of what I need, and I don't use many effects.
A bit hard to see what you're doing on the headrush screen. 90 degree angle from straight up would change that. I would really like to see the screen to get a feel how the interface works cuz I hate complex interfaces. I want really intuitive interface. I really like that you also covered the outboard gear and FX loop stuff as it's not commonly done much and I'm kind of lazy to figure that stuff out (hate it). Anyway, thanks for the video. This is just constructive criticism. :)
I've been using the eleven rack as my head for a few years now. debating on getting something like this and pairing it with a EH 44 straight to my cab. decisions. decisions.
I know this Video is older but I just bought the Gigboard. The Signal Chain for the 4CM is messed up, even on the Headrush Page. They say modulation & Time based before the Loop Block then Distortion. On the Same Page of Headrush directly under that, they have the Signal Chain listed as: Guitar- Pre Loop FX (Distortion etc.)-Pre-Amp-Post Loop FX (Delay Reverb)-Poweramp I tried to Contact them but got no answer. Update: After digging in Forums and other Channels. The FX Loop Block on the Headrush represents your Amp. So everything you would have in front of the Amp goes in front of the FX Block. Everything you would put into the FX Loop of the Amp, will be placed after the FX Block on the Headrush.
aunt jenifer Well the Gigboard is pretty much the same Device only with some Features removed. You connect the 4CM just the same way as on the big one. But Headrush already updated their Instructions to the correct one a couple weeks ago.
I didn't scroll enough to see if this was covered. I'm not getting why an OD pedal was put post FX loop in a 4 cable setup. Wouldn't the FX loop be considered the preamp section of the amp? Anything before would go to the loop of the board(preamp) and anything after the Loop would go back to the power section of the amp? Again, sorry if this was answered previously.
@ryanbruce I know you mentioned 4cm . Does this unit do it? Someone from Headrush emailed me back and said it couldn't do it. Maybe they didn't have the right info. Thanks man. Great demo.
Sounds not bad at the first impress.. I like how fx chain designed is. I have not found any info if you can load some ir's onto the board. Can anybody answer me the question?
I cannot decide between the Headrush Gigboard and the Helix LT for Studio use and for Live aswell. Which one would you recommend? I'm way more about the sound of the amp sims than about the effects. Also it is important to me to be able to edit the sounds on the pc and to be able to reamp DI's...
Im not the most gifted tech-head so I have one question left concerning the 4-cable method: Did I get it right, that the Pedalboard kinda excludes a distortion pedal from the fx loop when it is being put IN FRONT (left hand side) of it? Like the way I could do it if I routed my signal through the distortion pedal into the amp and put anything else (reverb, delay, etc) in the amps fx-loop? I hope you get what I mean :D
Dear Fluff..ive asked every reviewer and no one answered, does this board have a PC interface? i have been using the ElevenRack for a few years and it has an amazing one . hope you answer this.
Considering you have demo'd Bias FX and the Headrush Pedalboard, if you were to purchase one or the other, which would you choose and why? From my understanding, with Bias, you need software, an interface and some type of board to select different things in the software, but with Headrush, it seems to be all in one. Any help would be awesome. Thank you!
Very informative, thanks. I plan to use this unit live. Do you recommend dialing everything in while connected to my Marshall stack versus let's say headphones?
You wouldn't even need to connect it to your Marshall, even though you could. The unit is well capable of delivering every Marshall tone, you could send the signal directly to the mixer and if you play small gigs just get yourself a nice FRFR cabinet.
Both ways are great but I prefer some big clean Marshall head for the tube warmth ! The Peavey valve king 100 watt half stack works wonders within this pedal board !
Very informative, thanks. I plan on using this live so do you recommend dialing everything in while connected to my Marshall stack verses let's say headphones?
I had a blackstar ht stage 60 n it is BAD ASS great boutique cleans n HEAVY distortion honestly won't need a pedal for heavy shit... Im getting another one!!!
I still curious about one thing. Does this board have any PC software ?? I know this unit has a big LCD screen for adjusting any setting. But, I still prefer using keyboard, mouse, and PC monitor to adjust anything.
So you can program this and use this as an amp like a kemper? Sorry I'm just used to grabbing my amp and placing 2 pedals through a fx loop/plug and play. So I'm still new to this technology
Kemper is a profiling amp, that takes snapshots of the whole signal chain of a real amp, but when you adjust the knobs to change the to adjust the on board graphics eq, it deviates from the original amp snapshot, using it's own on board Eq, which to some can be noticed. It has it's own amp snapshots as well onboard. The Headrush is more modeled using algorithms, and what not. Some boards like the Helix say they recreated all the circuits in the amp to get their sound. I'm not sure how the Headrush came about it's amp recreating modelling, but I know it is based off the older eleven rack unit.
I can't disagree, plug and play is nice. I went through my Axe Fx Ultra, Kemper, various PC amp sims, PV Revolver MK3/4, only to realize I'm searching for the sound that I already have with my H&K Coreblade, but I had to put a good chunk of money into into it, with customizing the preamp, power tubes, and speakers for it In order to find that sound. Despite that I still would like to have that solid state preamp tube amp copier mostly for reliability, but I'm lee ry the anyone will be able to truly copy the dynamics of how to recreate the speaker cab's, and MIC's dynamic interaction with you amp, and guitar.
I don't get why manufacters ignore a feature like relay switching amp channels. If we want to use 4cm we have to buy an amp gizmo or something like that in order to use both amp channels like a 5150 ...so more cables more power supply, more confusion...it looses all symplicity and therefore more things to go wrong...so i keep my boss pedals :)
@@GonzaloMelo1990 sheet after a while so the features and functions begin to all run together and that's making it hard to choose, maybe ? All's I know if the sounds of the headrush sounds the closest to real amps and the effects too ! And that's what I need other side can't spend the money unless it sounds real ?
Has anyone used this n the helix 8f so if u had to choose ONE which one im getting one or the other I want one that FEELS like playing a tube amp... N has good sounding effects they both have great ui n can download ir so u can get the same cabs etc any opinions would b appreciated
JohnLewis If you have a power amp. Seymour Duncan makes one that will fit on a pedalboard if you want something compact. Otherwise no, it wouldn’t power a cab
I bought one the other day it sounds ok but nothing amazing. Compared to my Axe-Fx II XL+ it sounds like shit. I am going to have to try loading some custom IR's in it before I take it back.
man i just wanted a opinion not a fight. It is hard to get your own when you don't have a unity in front of yourself. I respect Fluff's, Jared, and Ola's opinions. Also on every record even country you hear more sample drums and if they are real samples are laid over them. Fluff made a video to demo a product for guitar not a drum kit or sound. Get over it and stop fighting like children... Fluff I have much respect but you never got back to me about purchasing the Wav files of your new release. I would pay 3 bucks more to have better quality so please get back to me on that or Jared if you can answer that for me please do. Love you guys.
Take a shot every time fluff says "NOW"
Jared Dines You are a real madman , do you know that Jared ?
Jared Dines know your place... trash.
Jared Dines and "now" I have alcohol poisoning....
lmfao aka how to get wasted in 18 mins and 12 seconds
Or a shot for every "uh" 🤐
Oh my gosh. Midi drums. I am offended.
*dislikes every fluff video *unsubscribes
*re names my dog from McFluff to McRealdrums
*cries
Nothing Lion hahaha
Ryan Bruce it sounds awesome dude. The record is a triumph.
midi drums + amp modeler... i bet thats doll plastic Fluff too - he seems scripted! fake.. news

Man, I still have my 11R, it was okay for it's time but it never had any decent metal tones, clean tones were pretty good though.
That "little tune" is so fluffin' Fluff.

steven gardiner I think the hate mainly stems from them ripping off Line 6's Helix design
shockt9610 Ass hurt because this completely blows Line 6 crap right out of the water? It's kid's stuff.
The Line 6 "camp" is kinda special. Don't be mean 🤣
High praise from fluff on the headrush, it's a keeper

Sounds really good, man. I love the interface. Simple and effective. Good to see you still have that white solo 6! I love that guitar.
4 cable method with a evh 5153 50 watt would be nuts 🥜
MIDI switching and all
I was thinking the same thing as I have a 5150 III. I might have to get my hands on this little thing
Just got one for the exact same setup, hopefully it can replace the ISP G-string.
Michael Quillen So, how's the setup with your EvH? Are you running 4cm and midi to switch channels?

You went full Nickleback with that tune.
Very little of this make sense to me lol. How do you learn all of this stuff?
They should've paired up with Bias FX or something for a better effects processor. The pedalboard itself and the interface seems awesome though.
The color grading in this video looks very cinematic lol
how does it compare to Axe FX, Bias, Line 6 please your opinion?
use your ears dude
Sounds way better than Helix.
I don't understand IR. I just bought this thing. Is it something I need to know, lol?
Yes! Impulse response, it is like a cab and mic combo in a .wav file, you load it up on the headrush and use it instead the stock cabs and mics
What's better: this thing or line 6 helix? I mean emulation of amps and other stuff
But what Corey Taylor think of it?
So this is an Avid Eleven Rack in a pedalboard format?
@ryanbruce I know you mentioned 4cm . Does this unit do it? Someone from Headrush emailed me back and said it couldn't do it. Maybe they didn't have the right info. Thanks man. Great demo.

Any info you can share on getting the headrush to change channels on the triple crown?
does it have eq to ad it as if it was another stompbox¿

All's I know if the sounds of the headrush sounds the closest to real amps and the effects too ! And that's what I need other side can't spend the money unless it sounds real ?
I spy a James Valentine signature Music Man on the wall. Are you going to do a review on it? If not, how do you like it?
dad metal tune played with a dad guitar, sounds all sick
Thanks for mentioning the 4CM. You’re right, nobody has so you are the 1st
yo ryan.....how does it work in 4CM mode with an amp.....specifically the dual rec and bypassing the amps/IR's?
Sounds good
Hey Fluff, you should do the BOSS ME-80. Nice content bro!
Has anyone used this n the helix 8f so if u had to choose ONE which one im getting one or the other I want one that FEELS like playing a tube amp... N has good sounding effects they both have great ui n can download ir so u can get the same cabs etc any opinions would b appreciated
who needs the headrush when you have a line 6 spider
Guitar ninja I have a spider 1 speaker combo that I wouldn't even sell to my worst enemy
"Yeah ! Line 6 's suck !"
** has a line six spider
MasterOfProcrastination Line 6... You lose credibility even mentioning that shit here. GTFO.
Are you seriously comparing that to a headrush?
@@Alex-dr6or *jokingly* (i hope anyway lmao)
greetings from colombia
Which one would you prefer, Helix, Bias, Ax8, kamper Atomic amp? your comments are very welcomed
What are your patches call on the cloud?
Can this pedal be used directly into a cab without a head just using a preamp??
JohnLewis If you have a power amp. Seymour Duncan makes one that will fit on a pedalboard if you want something compact. Otherwise no, it wouldn’t power a cab
Hey fluff, what do you think about headrush to the studio? Like axe fx or is better for some live?
Awesome video, can you use it with a Bass guitar too ?
Greetings from Switzerand !!
Yes
I want this
Can this pedalboard emulate a 12-string guitar?
what vst do you use for post processing?
Hi Fluff.
Is it possible to set it up as a dual amp stereo rig?
Yes it does
I bought one the other day it sounds ok but nothing amazing. Compared to my Axe-Fx II XL+ it sounds like shit. I am going to have to try loading some custom IR's in it before I take it back.
IRs are critical to the sound of a modeller
Don't know which ones better
sorry bro, the swedish dude was faster!
MrMockigton ola englund 🤘
At least fluff can play good riffs off the top of his head
Seeing your Rhodes head on the rack makes me sad.
Headrush sounds bad ass.
is it as good are better than a tube amp? and if not why use it?
omertaa1. It accomplishes well with a tube amp IMO.
It will also save you money and space from regular stomp box pedals IMO
man i just wanted a opinion not a fight.
Thanks Fluff
Somehow the gigboard has no real bite in the attack, overall sounds very compressed to me :/
Can use this with an amp
Yes
THAT ST VALENTINE THO
The things I could do with this!!!
kemper or headrush
