Yeah, tbh even if he won the fight, he wouldnt have by been able to defend the belt of and would've vacated it for 2 years. So, yeah, I'm really trying to wrap my head around why he would do that.
There are some high level substances out there and with the right surgeon+rehab program, I'd say it's possible he gets that knee up to 90% of it's former capacity. Unlikely, but even half could get him in the ring and/or training again. I imagine it would hurt forever though, regardless.
This happened in my last blue belt comp, my opponent refused to tap to an arm bar so I just let him go because I didn't want to break his arm. After that he won by points but I don't really regret my decision.
Good on you. I also used to spar against someone who wouldn't tap. It was the worst because I was afraid to actually engage any submission because he wouldn't tap. It was like I couldn't actually execute Brazilian Jiujitsu.

you literally have a game mechanic which is "if you don't wanna die/get injured, do this" and he chose not to use it, so everything he got was well deserved
People seem to forget that jiu jitsu was originally a martial art designed to kill or neutralize in the battefield. Those submissions aren't made to "tap". They're made to do on explosion so you can neutralize the opponent quickly and then keep moving. What happened is that some rules were created so that it could be practiced and later a combat sport
The ref should stop the fight when it's clear that this guy is being permanently injured over a game. For a belt. Nothing is worth losing the ability to walk. Dana White said the job of a referee is to keep the fighters safe and to protect them from themselves.
You know out of everyone i feel like the ref was the most at fault. Even WITHOUT A TAP he had the power to make the decision that the dude couldn't continue the fight... He should have called it a lot sooner.
naaahhhh. thats stupidity. bro got damage he most likely will never fully recover from. for what? sometimes you just have to call it a day and accept defeat.
The fighters want to win. The ref is the person who judges when it should stop. If anything, Mike was wondering why the judge didn't do a stoppage. Mike clearly was putting Gantumar's knee and foot through the ringer. Permanent damage.
I never have trained martial arts but I am an older guy with medical and life experience and let me tell you even though he may get surgeries and therapies and recover, that young mans leg and foot will never and I mean never be the same. He will be limping and hurting on and off the rest of his life.
Goes into stand up striking, gets CTE, goes into grappling, gets lifelong joint damages. LOL I'm not sending my kids into combat sports even though I love it
Believe me: BJJ is not even top 5 sport for joint damage. And every time you see a guy really messed up on the mat, it was never grappling, but rather a motorcycle clash, football, dancing etc.
the question is: if he heard the knee getting absolutely demolished, why did he rotate it even more? There´s no need to keep breaking his leg and foot. The knee was broken, there was no way he could´ve kept fighting, so why continue injuring him?
Basically, because the rules of BJJ allow it. You can have a limb broken and the ref doesn't stop the match. If it was MMA, Mikey could stop earlier and just get up. If the other fighter can't rise to his feet, it's ruled a tko. They will also stop it for broken limbs in some cases if it is obvious. I hope that makes sense. Whereas the ref was never going to stop this one, so Mikey could only try to make his opponent quit. Or go to sleep via a choke, which he did go to
I believed he was joined by the warrior spirits of his ancestors to never quit, its a pride though he kept his ground eventhough his last option is to tap. Bieng a fighter better tap then fight another day, than to end up with a broken knee. Respect though
That is why pride is just absurd in most cases. There is nothing damaging to one's pride to get beat by a world class champion and if anything it adds something to be proud of. The only thing not tapping did that was positive was show the rest of the world how foolish it was. Not only did the guy lose the match but he had to do a lot of therapy, couldn't train for an extended amount of time and couldn't take any other matches for a fairly long time due to the amount of time needed to recover. All of that could have been avoided by doing the wise thing vs foolish thing and just tapping before important things started getting torn.

Musameci is a beast
Its odd tho that he never has a real challenge in any match.. is he going vs the hardest guys?
@@234i9 he is the champion, who should he face next?
mikey would do that to every joint in sneako's body
Musumeci is already a MASTER of BJJ . . . He should be elevated as a SENSEI . . . for the sake of the sport . . .
He's a douchebag.
what a beast for not tapping
People seem to forget that jiu jitsu was originally a martial art designed to kill or neutralize in the battefield. Those submissions aren't made to "tap". They're made to do on explosion so you can neutralize the opponent quickly and then keep moving. What happened is that some rules were created so that it could be practiced and later a combat sport
Mongolian got the real W.
One Championship, you should set a match between this kid vs balhares! Now that’s a match I’ll pay for!
I'm tapping out watching this
The nicest guy that could absolutely pretzel you in 2 secs...
The ref should stop the fight when it's clear that this guy is being permanently injured over a game. For a belt. Nothing is worth losing the ability to walk. Dana White said the job of a referee is to keep the fighters safe and to protect them from themselves.
Mickey is the nicest savage ive seen😂 ,just awesome
God bless this man i started to do bjj this month because of him.
MUSUMECI IS A BEAST WITH SUBMISSIONS, SCARY DUDE RIGHT THERE
You know out of everyone i feel like the ref was the most at fault. Even WITHOUT A TAP he had the power to make the decision that the dude couldn't continue the fight... He should have called it a lot sooner.
Thankfully he became a ref and not a lifeguard 🌊. How long would it take before he finally realizes the person is drowning.
That one is a real samurai
Respect for Mikey for trying not to injure his opponent
And he was still able to get up and walk. What a tough SOB
LIMP, ADRENALINE YES
Yeah, the next three days not so much.
That dude did not show any pain at all. What a beast
"If the person doesn't tap, you break everything." Or you yourself just chose to cause more damage after knowing you broke his ankle and knee.
Love this dude
Is it true the guy was up and back training in a few weeks after this? that's what someone said
Crazy resilliance
naaahhhh. thats stupidity. bro got damage he most likely will never fully recover from. for what?
sometimes you just have to call it a day and accept defeat.
What a great young man.
BEEN WATCHING MIKEY FOR A WHILE, SUBMISSION SPECIALIST, DON'T FUK AROUND AND FIND OUT YO
this dude is an actual machine jesus christ, his body just forgot the pain receptors when it formed apparently
Hell yeah Mikey. 🤝👏👏👏👏👏
Es una bestia en esto, no vale la pena arriesgar por toda una vida de carrera
Any update on the condition of the Mongolian’s knee?
the doctor of ONE said that he normally only sees injurys like this in motorcycle accidents....
"I get a good nice pass" as you are being put back into guard. hahahahahaha
Yeah I think the editors made it awkward on that one lol
So that’s what a crocodile death roll looks like.
Can we add One Championship to Prime in the UK please?
I had to just listen to the audio and occasionally glancing at the picture to avoid throwing up.
Just tap dear lord it's not worth ending your career.
gotta love mikey
@@chicodascouves no BJJ has more joint damages than football lol
@@Quloh I mean... I'm talking about the real football. That elliptic handball idk
would love to see him in MMA
I bet cosmo imai charecter is a pun of him ❤
"Then I went for his other leg"
😂 Omg bro no...
How about move on to a choke? Your levels above this kid. What a shame. All for a fight bonus.
Exactly. No Honor. No respect. No class. It’s disgusting.
The referee should have stopped the match when he saw his knee getting bent
The confusion of "the fight should be over, you should have tapped" on his face mid fight is funny.
I say "fight" I don't know what term to use.
it is a fight, a Jiu Jitsu fight
Such a kind dude 🙏
That's 2 professionals in there 🤯
It's like police activity when people don't listen and get shot. A dog always makes people tap haha
I wanna see musumeci grapple someone thats a real challenge. It feels like he keeps going vs guys that have no chance against him.
The 1964, 1967, 1972, and 1973 UCLA Bruins all pulled the same stunt. And so did the '91-93, '96-'98 Bulls.
Isnt this a bjj comp though?
the question is: if he heard the knee getting absolutely demolished, why did he rotate it even more?
Or go to sleep via a choke, which he did go to
@@VGEmblem Thanks for the good explanation. Though i thought that the fight was in fact MMA? Correct me if im wrong though
@@1SportyBoy t'was a grappling ruleset. bjj no - gi ruleset
@@nathantheophilus4856 thank you very much
I believed he was joined by the warrior spirits of his ancestors to never quit, its a pride though he kept his ground eventhough his last option is to tap.
I'm not a knee scientist but I'm pretty sure a leg isn't supposed to look like that
Literally could not watch this bro, YIKES
This guy reminds me of Cosmo Imai so much💪🏾
So his career completely over right. 😮
He can heal but he won’t be the same
