Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Sounds like me. Probably around ~low 230s. Buying since 2021, following Tesla since 2018 but no money to invest till ~2020. Feels pretty bad to have gotten in at "wrong time" buying all the dips that never seem to end and no cash left atm. Oh well. Auto/energy revolution takes longer than 3 years nbd.

Around 4 years ago the usual Investment Warning +/- was to not time the market, but watch "S" curve development and Wright Law cost lowering, ie watch the market timing, so you only buy and hold according to indexing?

My main takeaway from the call was the emphasis that Elon gives on Tesla being an automation company. Building your own vehicles is the ability to scale and deploy the automation. Same with energy automation with auto bidder and building megapacks, and further with optimus. The analysts focus on the tangible balance sheet numbers, autonomy is very small in their eyes, but when it starts, it will be explosive in its profitability.

They've only released the tri-motor Cyber Beast, which is the top end price. The price will reduce as they scale up and release the lower trim levels.

No one knows for sure but likely not
So the supervised FSD is down to $99 per month, I would imagine they will release unsupervised FSD for $199+ per month when it's complete.
Essentially different subscription tiers like other SaaS. Or they may change it completely and do cost per mile.
The only way your garuenteed unsupervised FSD is if you pay outright ($9000)

No, they will get taxed very heavily if they sell in the U.S.
Being that ARK buys and sells Tesla stock pretty regularly, its disingenuous to say they are "long term investors." By actions, they are traders of Tesla.
As an ETF, they have a structural requirement to not exceed 10% of the portfolio in any one stock. It’s true that they have sold at peaks and bought back more at lower prices. As their Tesla position exceeds that 10%, they trim in as tax advantaged a manner as possible. I wish that I had done as well. My profitable shares are from 2019 and earlier. My purchases since are all underwater (for now).
The reason the stock does not go up is that Elon has stated over and over again that it doesn’t matter to him.
Also when he gets a big pay package it will be in stock options and the number of shares will be greater and give him more control in the company, which is what he really wants especially regarding AI development.
That collar isn't helping Tasha's case for credibility.
