3/7/2024 Children are in poverty because THEIR PARENTS are in poverty. Lifting kids out of poverty won't happen until their parents are out of poverty. Speaking of poverty, HUD steals every social security COLA raise we get by raising out rents. 74.00 raise, HUD raised my rent by 53.00. 25.00 raise, rent was raised by 24.00. This affects million and millions and millions of disabled/elderly folks across the country who live in public housing or have section 8 vouchers. This traps us in perpetual poverty and congress doesn't even know it is happening! I am seeing Katherine Clark on Saturday March 9th in Waltham, MA where I live.

There is no such thing as the 'greatest country', period, and looking back at US history, the nation certainly doesn't warrant that claim.
That's not true. It does hold that claim to fame in several categories: -greatest economic superpower -greatest military superpower -greatest amount of its own citizens jailed -most wealth inequality -greatest amount of gun deaths not involved in a war. So, not all positive, but the US is #1 in several categories.

1:15 I feel like this is such a huge issue and I feel like most politicians dont want to touch it because they dont want things to look like they are bad because the election is coming up but the people who are struggling are noticing. Im always grateful Bernie will speak about these things. I have felt that a lot of the economic issues have been on the back burner for a while now and they should not be. (I understand we have been coming out of a pandemic and have been working on a softer landing so Im not just attacking here). Income inequality is such a huge issue, not just the inequality just the fact that some are getting so mega wealthy while a lot of others are taking 2nd jobs and having a side hustle is almost a requirement. So many young people have basically given up on life because they arnt seeing the chance to have a better life. We have to decide as a people what kind of country we want to be the one where there is room for everyone or the kind where there are rich people in gated neighborhoods with private security surrounded by slums.

We deserve a president like Bernie and we deserve single payer healthcare a minimum wage that you could live on. We don’t need a gigantic military industrial complex. If we had a great president the rest would be possible.
Being completely honest, no, we don't. We don't deserve it because we don't ask for it. We don't ask for it because we don't think we can get it. We don't think we can get it because we've had opportunity after opportunity to create the change necessary to make it happen and allowed the moment to pass us by every time. We had the opportunity to elect Bernie--TWICE--and we allowed ourselves to be swayed with false claims of sexism in 2016 and false narratives claiming that he couldn't beat Trump in 2020. We continue to re-elect establishment politicians on both sides of the aisle _knowing_ they have no interest in empowering the people. Bernie's been singing the same songs for decades and we have allowed people and institutions who do not want to relinquish the power they hold to change the station.
Thomas Jefferson said, "The government you elect is the government you deserve." There has been no voter fraud. There has been no general election inconsistencies. The primary politics are always going to be suspect, because the party is always going to want their person on the ballot. The general election is where the people get to use their voice...or stay silent. So, we _would like to have_ a lot of things, but we _deserve_ nothing we're not prepared to vote for.
If we had no military how would we send 200 billion worth of arms to the ukraine?

Maybe Mr Sanders should've addressed another elephant in the room: the lack of proper information and education. The fact that it's possible for millions of people to live in isolated bubbles, where yellow is green and up is down, is a terrible thought for anyone interested in upholding democracy and a working justice system.

1:15 I feel like this is such a huge issue and I feel like most politicians dont want to touch it because they dont want things to look like they are bad because the election is coming up but the people who are struggling are noticing. Im always grateful Bernie will speak about these things. I have felt that a lot of the economic issues have been on the back burner for a while now and they should not be. (I understand we have been coming out of a pandemic and have been working on a softer landing so Im not just attacking here). Income inequality is such a huge issue, not just the inequality just the fact that some are getting so mega wealthy while a lot of others are taking 2nd jobs and having a side hustle is almost a requirement. So many young people have basically given up on life because they arnt seeing the chance to have a better life. We have to decide as a people what kind of country we want to be the one where there is room for everyone or the kind where there are rich people in gated neighborhoods with private security surrounded by slums.
