  • You asked- we answered. Its starting to feel like autumn here in New Zealand and nothing slaps more than hot fried bread on a cold night 🤤
    We need:
    1 cup of water
1 sachet of yeast (equivalent to 2 tsp) and dont forget to check your dates! Old yeast won't rise.
    2 tbsp of sugar
Enough flour to make a soft dough- reason being, you may have a different sized cup therefore needing a different amount of water to combine ingredients. Practise makes perfect!
Leave dough to rise for 1 1/2 hours or if in hot water 1 hour should suffice.
2 cups of oil (or there abouts depending on your pot/pan) to fry your bread
We love our with butter and jam! What do you like to put on your fried bread?

Balkan people make this as well, they might have got it from the East because it seems Turkey makes something similar too, it's so interesting, it seems as if this is one of those basic flour recipes that somehow spread to so many places.

So after 24 years I did not know my husband had complaints about my fried bread.
I had never attempted yeast fried bread, as to me, the process seemed long and irritating so
I found your channel and kept you in mind should I decide to shock my husband with your help! 😂
Well yesterday I followed your instructions step by step, taking note of your tips along the way. Ohhh my they were soft, light & perfectly golden!
I am totally kicking myself for not attempting these years ago haha
But thank you..you are easy to follow, oh and I liked the tip with the egg trays as fire starters too.. excellent! 👌🏽💯

I saw on utube that you can freeze dried yeast, I’ve tried it and it works, leave the yeast you need out for about 10 mins to warm up and it is the bomb, rises the mix better than normal. Can keep two years or more, probably used before then. For me it’s perfect, I wasted so much yeast. And I love this video, the best.
