- You asked- we answered. Its starting to feel like autumn here in New Zealand and nothing slaps more than hot fried bread on a cold night 🤤
We need:
1 cup of water
1 sachet of yeast (equivalent to 2 tsp) and dont forget to check your dates! Old yeast won't rise.
2 tbsp of sugar
Enough flour to make a soft dough- reason being, you may have a different sized cup therefore needing a different amount of water to combine ingredients. Practise makes perfect!
Leave dough to rise for 1 1/2 hours or if in hot water 1 hour should suffice.
2 cups of oil (or there abouts depending on your pot/pan) to fry your bread
We love our with butter and jam! What do you like to put on your fried bread?
I’ve watched every fried bread video, and this is best one. Clear instructions, nothing left out. Appreciate you!
My first time trying to make bread today and how my dough come out is awesome just from watching her work
@@LordGiggleface I’ve watched this over 30 times and still come back to watch it while I’m making fried bread just incase I’m doing it right 😂😂

2 years later and still watching ❤😂
I’m Eskimo from Alaska. I would make fry bread with my mom every two weeks along with her loaves of bread. I loved your video! Interesting how we indigenous people have our fry breads! You are lovely! Our fry bread is like a disk.
So true!
Balkan people make this as well, they might have got it from the East because it seems Turkey makes something similar too, it's so interesting, it seems as if this is one of those basic flour recipes that somehow spread to so many places.
Thank you for this recipe 😊 I used higher percentage of water for a lighter bread. I took them to work for harmony day and they didn’t last long.
So after 24 years I did not know my husband had complaints about my fried bread.
I had never attempted yeast fried bread, as to me, the process seemed long and irritating so
I found your channel and kept you in mind should I decide to shock my husband with your help! 😂
Well yesterday I followed your instructions step by step, taking note of your tips along the way. Ohhh my they were soft, light & perfectly golden!
I am totally kicking myself for not attempting these years ago haha
But thank you..you are easy to follow, oh and I liked the tip with the egg trays as fire starters too.. excellent! 👌🏽💯

I know this is simple to make for some , but brought up in Australia we hardly have this and I wanted to know how we do it back home . So thank you for this vid .
Appreciate it 😋
I saw on utube that you can freeze dried yeast, I’ve tried it and it works, leave the yeast you need out for about 10 mins to warm up and it is the bomb, rises the mix better than normal. Can keep two years or more, probably used before then. For me it’s perfect, I wasted so much yeast. And I love this video, the best.

This fried bread recipe is probably the closest ones to my nans. Except she kneeded her bread twice and let it rise twice. Thank you for this video. This is probably the best one ive seen and you didn't miss out any steps. The Mince Mash Potatoes and Fried Bread comment though 😂😂😂😂 thats my favey too so I see why your daughter chose that for her 21st kai lol
Nawww...nga mihi!
Your nan is correct in the way she does her procedure. Baking usually has 2 proofing periods before final proofing
Keen to try this fried bread. I grew up on fry bread made with 4 ingredients. Flour, baking powder, water and fry. Then add butter and golden syrup once made and still warm. These are fancy and I'm gonna make it this weekend

Kia ora whaea. Pakeha ahau nō Ahitereiria. I’ve never tried fry bread before but am so eager to. With this easy tutorial, can’t wait to try making it. Now l don’t have to wait to visit Aotearoa to try this classic kai. Loved how whaea just eyeballed the ingredients😃 Nga mihi nui kōrua. Mauri ora
Made it today, and shared it with my Māori neighbour and his Aussie wahine. He said it tasted just like his mama’s parāoa parai back home. What a compliment!! He said mine were perfectly fried and fluffy on the inside, but a tad bit skinnier than he’s used to. Not bad for a first time though. Out of all the videos l watched, l knew yours would be the best. With age comes wisdom and experience❤ E mihi ana Whaea😊
Short and sweet video. Gonna try this one out tonight. Oh and I've just subscribed too.
