- It is a long one, but a good one! Who doesnt want steamed pudding for Christmas?! 🤤
Burnt sugar:
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup of boiling water
Pudding mix:
1 1/2 cups of white sugar
250 grams of softened butter
1 1/4 cup of self-raising flour
1 1/4 cup of plain flour
Heaped tsp of nutmeg
3 eggs
Liz put her batter into the middle of the bag and what we found is it caused crinkles in the pudding and it crumbled once you cut into it. Make sure to add the pudding into the corner of the bag and itll come out perfect!
Liz also prefers it without nutmeg and that is totally optional but as you know, she who cooks- chooses 😉
Thank you!! I tried your recipe, and the Whanau and I were blown away. This recipe is so easily marae worthy and I totally recommend this recipe to anyone reading 😊
I made these and turned out really great. Very fluffy and tasty. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Thank you Mumma!! enjoyed your Christmas Song this morning !! but especially your delicious Tinned Steam pudding on Christmas Eve in South Africa!!!

Yum definitely pudding on the menu for Chrissy :-)
Thank you so much totally enjoyed watching you create magic in your kitchen, less the pot lid :-)
Love your recipe. I've never made steamed pudding before. Now I'm going to try it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love your sense of humor. I still do it the way you explained and flour the cloth before adding the pudding, this gives it a nice skin. I also use sultana and raisins optional, this helps keep the pudding nice and moist for slicing cold with butter for cuppa tea. I also use bread bags inside out in large fruit tins, marae style. Thanks for sharing.
I’m going to try your recipes 👍🏽
Finally found an easy-to-follow steam pudding. Now I know why some puddings are bitter to long in the pot. Forever grateful. Thank you and Merry Christmas and joyous New Year

Kia Ora mumma kitchen love steam pudding but could never cook it. Ngaa mihi for ur video
Put golden syrip at the bottom of the can first then pour the mixture on top without the plastic bag, when its finished cooking turn up the can and the golden syrip will be oozing over the steamed pudding, yummy.
Yumm
You have made this so simplified and less mess,no rubbing in the butter, cool pot in sink of water, quicker cooking time, love it thank you for sharing your knowledge whaea 💕💯🫶
My whanau still do muslin cloth puddings at the pa.
"Soz" and "Lizzo" up with the lingo :D
I love your necklace you wear! Does it have a special meaning to you? Just a favorite? That pudding looked amazing. I wonder how it would be cooked in glass canning jars in a bag? I may try that!
Thank you Karen! Yes, its one of my favourites and Im unsure about glass jars, just wouldn't want it to crack but Ive seen them cooked in oven bags they just take a funny shape 😊
Kia ora Whaea, Ive gone to RUclips to look for your clip on the sponge you made in a roasting dish that my daughter showed me on the Facebook but I can't find it on RUclips, obviously I'm not as smart as the phone, would love the recipe. Nga mihinui kia koe e te Whaea.
ruclips.net/video/5H2Yqo7Nk5c/видео.html hoping this maybe the recipe you were after :)
Good one girls
this is close to my aunties recipe only thing missing is vanilla but its still a good looking pudding il have to give it a go some time..
Add your vznilla if you want too...make it yours!!
Tip: A good substitute for burnt sugar is golden syrup. Yum!
Do you still add the hot water to the golden syrup
Easy peasy.... exactly how my mum used to make it....p.s did you get your lid back?
Nah!! Hex them!!
"You figure it out" lol Love it
Too deadly lady’s yummy 😋 👍🏾
This way is the best way and the original way. Ka pai
Sharp alright aunty 👌
Ha!
You could use brown sugar also or golden if you want
When you are making the steam pudding get a stemming boll when you are folding in the syrup uses a scraper it work's will
Where do I get the bags? I'm in Canada
You need your own cooking show
Bet you she's everyone's favourite aunty
Nga mihi ki a koe whaea👍🏾😎💜❤️💯
Me koe hokii Stuart!
This sounds great! The burnt sugar must give the pudding a delicious flavor. How would it be to add a few raisins to the mixture or would that be a sacrilege?
Can i use a bundt pan? I havent seen oven bags in the shops in my area unfortunately. Thanks in advance
A pudding bowl would do the trick...whatever you use...just watch that the water doesn't get into the pudding
Hi Mumma! I’m after quick advice. Could you please tell me if you can use oven bags on a real hangi? I know you could, but will it still have that hangi taste… I’m just wondering if it’s worth it or not? Xx thanks
Should be fine if they are secured in a tin as well...YUM to steam pudding n hangi!!! Address????
@@mummaskitchen2656 haha come Aunty! We in Foxton 😍😍🙏🙏 God bless you
Leave bag in tin then pour mixture in is how I do it.

You can cook it in the microwave also for 15 minutes
Show how to make a pudding
Whaea do you know how to do ambrosia?
Whipped cream, youghurt, marshmellows, pkt of jelly n chopped up fruit
@@mummaskitchen2656 kia Ora whaea. This is my 2nd day potato bug in boiler cupboard, and potato juice in fridge added two table spoon Suger in the potato juice the 1st night, do i keep adding Suger in the potato water everyday?
Nga mihi Whaea
I made this for xmas and it came out dry.
No baking soda??
Nope...not in this recipe❤️
