SC is an artist, not merely a technician. Watching her skate is so exhilarating because she expresses the music so beautifully. As a musician I appreciate this, that goes without saying, but beyond this, her beautiful balletic performance is thrilling -- the extension, arm position and overall control is impressive in an athletic sense, but the grace and suppleness and musicality she displays is more of artist than of an athlete, and I gotta say, she makes Michelle Kwan look like a machine.
Such a beautiful ballerina style Ina Bauer right up into a double axel at 2:58. She started a trend with this combination. Today many skaters copy it including Yuna Kim though they don't do it half as good as Sasha especially the Ina Bauer position.
Sasha had a flaw with her jumps in that when she's in the air, she doesn't pull the free foot up early enough before landing. As a result, the tip of her free foot often hits the ice during landing, causing a double-footed landing, even when she's made the rotation! It looks like she made the rotation on the 3L-3T here, but she just didn't pull the free foot up early enough.
skaters today don't make any effort to make their positions beautiful, its all about jumps :( Look at cohen and her perfect stretch, back and feet! But that doesn't matter these days when an ugly axel and HORRIGYING layback will win anything
She was one of my favorite skaters and the most graceful I've ever seen, but sometimes her costumes didn't flatter her. I remember a few I liked, like a Romeo and Juliet exhibition dress, but others, such as this red one, didn't do her skating justice.
If she could've skated like this consistently (aside from the step-out on the triple lutz/triple toe. I can forgive that for her landing that triple toe/half loop/triple salchow later on).
Her spiral is STILL the best! Her lines and her way of presentation is so unique to her. She is the definition of "grace" on the ice. Exquisite.

her technique was not that great. on spirals and spins sure. not jumps.

Look at that triple loop at 1:56 just gorgeous. Too bad the commentator was too busy babbling about other things to acknowledge this jump.
