    She is a world class skater. She is exceptional. Her positions are unmatched. Her Ina Bauer, her spin positions and speed, her extentions! She deserves a world title. Her artistry and her commitment to that artistry is what sets her apart. To think she and Michelle Kwan both skated at the same time , man where we spoiled.

      Hey that's better than him refering to a skater as a "refridgerator break".

    As an past gymnast her flexibility is related to that history...Her problem is her inconsistency.....Even her silver medal at the 2006 olympics she fell twice

      Ugh I hate figure skating's weird obsession with what is "technically" a fall. She didn't get the second 1 point penalty but for all intents and purposes, she fell. Just like Kwan fell on her 3F in 2002.

      The best jumpers in figure skating lack extreme flexibility (Tonya, Midori, Tuk, Yuna) &
      The most flexible skaters often struggle with their jumps (Sasha, Mao, Yulia)

    Sasha wasn't in contention for the gold because she was 4th in the short program. So Michelle wasn't clapping because of how Sasha skated.

    The problem isnt the jumps. Its the lack of concentration.

    • @johnlaw947
      @johnlaw947 8 лет назад +5

      +Troy Turner I think it was mostly nerves and over-thinking things, but lapses in concentration were probably part of the problem as well. Maybe she had ADD/ADHD.

    • @troyaturner1979
      @troyaturner1979 8 лет назад +4

      John Law That could be it also. Because she had it all. If she kept practicing that triple lutz-triple toe and triple toe-half loop-triple salchow combinations and been more consistent, she would've been extremely difficult to beat.

    • @johnlaw947
      @johnlaw947 8 лет назад +3

      I totally agree. There's video of her landing a clean quad salchow at Skate America, I believe in 2001. Although she had a flutz and her flip had questionable technique on the entry, switching from an inside edge to an outside and then back to an inside, as well as a long delay after she turned into it before picking in. I think she was too methodical when she skated, especially going into the jumps, which goes along with what I said about how I think she overthought things. She should have just trusted her training and let things happen more naturally. You could actually see her thinking before going into the jumps sometimes, which is why some of them had a long, delayed set-up.

      John Law When she didn't overthink it (2004 Worlds SP for example), she was phenomenal. But the LP was her downfall. She'd either start off great in the first half and fuck up in the second part of her FS or vice versa. I've never seen her skate two consistent clean performances in her entire career.

    • @johnlaw947
      @johnlaw947 8 лет назад +2

      That's because she never did lol The only clean lp she ever skated was her "Swan Lake" program at a Campbell's or Marshall's event. She was an amazing sp skater though, for the most part. Her two programs at 2002 Nationals were pretty clean too, but I believe that's the closest she ever got to skating a clean sp and lp. I think she just put her hand down on the last jump, a triple salchow, in the lp. My favorite long program of hers though was the Rachmaninoff one from 2002-2003. I think she should've stayed with Tarasova. Tarasova choreographed both that program, "Malagueña" and "Swan Lake." Robin Wagner wasn't that good a coach and really just inherited the work that Tarasova had already done when she coached Sasha at 2004 Worlds. Also, I think Sasha's flutz got worse under Robin, which would make sense considering Sarah had like the worst flutz of all time lol

    I'm a big fan and I'm not trying to be overly critical but about 2 clean skates is not quite a few.... She's lovely but inconsistency held her back :/

      sasha cohen was flexible and did great spins but was basically a shitty skater. i mean, calling her great and better than kwan when she only put down maybe two clean LS her entire competitive career is funny to me. But hey I guess Kwan has her bitter haters too.

    • @evanperilstein5308
      @evanperilstein5308 6 лет назад +6

      Sasha was FAR from a shitty skater. She didn't have the best edges, but she was extremely talented, possibly the most talented skater of all time. You obviously don't know much about skating. I skated competitively for 11 years so I know what I'm talking about.

    Beautiful program and performance (despite some mistakes). Sasha really improved her flow and artistry between 2002 and this one. In Salt Lake she still seemed quite raw, here it's totally different story. I love it almost as much as
    Mao Asada program with the same music.

    She skated 2003 Skate America and 2003 Campbells with 6 triples and a minor two-foot landing on one of the 3Fs. Pretty close to perfect, I'd say.

    No matter what any Michelle Kwan fanatic will say, Sasha Cohen is the most beautiful and exquisite female figure skater aesthetically in her balletic and difficult positions!!...I never rooted for Michelle as i felt she was very spoiled and felt that the gold medals were owed to her!...I'd rather take a pic and have Sasha autograph any day!!....Love you Sasha!!...:)

    I agree with you! That's what turned me off about MK, and I'm glad she never won an Olympic Gold medal!...She felt that it was always owed to her. Glad Lipinski and Hughes kicked her big nose outta the way!
