    Winning World Championships or Olympic medals doesn't make true fans. Michelle and Sasha could have had careers where they never won a medal of any kind, and their fans would still support them because their skating appeals to them.

    Very beautiful performance. Near-perfection on the jumps, too, with just one two-footed landing. Sasha's worst enemy was herself.

    Still with her "inconsistency" she managed to win so many titles. In fact most of the skating girls in the world dream about Sasha's consistency. She was inconsistent only as far as very top sating is concerned. Kwan could skate really well under pressure but Kim isn't that consistent at all. She's skated a clean long program only once in her life, Sasha did it three times. Besides, Sasha had so many beautiful aspects abut her skating I can definitely forgive her mistakes on the jumps.

    No, I wouldn't award a gymnast who falls but we're not talking about gymnastics but figure skating. They are two different sports. In figure skating we have many different things besides jumping which of course the most difficult, however Sasha was able to win many medals on the strenght of her spins, spirals, presentation etc. even making mistakes on the jumps. Remember that there has always been the second mark in figure skating.

  • @Seresu1

    I love Sasha but she is not my favourite skater though she's probably the most beautiful skater to have ever grace the ice. Her extention, posture, pointed toes, carriage of her body, straight back, exceptional flexibility, musicality are to die for. She had problems with her jumps but they weren't as big as you're implying. There are thousands of skaters with worse jumps than her.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Carolina Kostner known for her amazing skating skills also fell on crossovers in a competition. And when did Sasha do that? The problem with that camel spin was that she achieved a very deep inside edge what would cause problems for most of the skaters. Besides, even exceptionally talented spinners sometimes hit not so great spin and even exceptional jumpers like Plushy or Midori have a bad jump. No one is flawless. I remember Mao falling basically as she was finishing her combination spin.

    I don't condone nasty comments about anyone, but commenting negatively in the name of retaliation is no better than commenting because you have no life. No matter how you feel about an individual skater, we all love the sport. What does this say to new fans like myself who watch old videos and rely on the comments for some first hand insight only to find bickering? This sport is so subjective, comparing world class skaters is stupid to me because ultimately, it's a matter of fan's taste.

  • @BadassReturns
    @BadassReturns 11 лет назад +2

    The truth doesn't bother me, but I've been watching a lot of Sasha (I just like her skating, falls and all LOL), and it's irksome to be constantly reminded of her overall failings, as opposed to perhaps background on the event itself and less "A is better than B." (true as it may be). I guess I'm new and idealizing, but it'd be nice if everyone (especially the viciously cruel/racial commenting) stopped and we could all enjoy the skating.

    Are you kidding? Every top skater has a moment when she/he falls. I can even show you Michelle Kwan's program when she fell twice. Slutskaya, very consitent jumper, also fell in Torino. Kwan fell in Salt Lake City. Everyone sometimes fall, even twice or more. Kostner has had a meltdowns where she popped or fell on most of her jumps and yes it also does happen at the Olympics.

  • @BlaineAlisonClark

    This is one of my favorite routines. She should have stayed with her coach.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Yeah, most of the girls who place under the top ten at Worlds would love to have Sasha's jumps.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +2

    Why? Because his outstanding skating skills and diffcult intricate transitions let him make up for mistakes on jumps. You look at everything in skating, not just jumps like you're insisting. This is why even such small details like posture of your body, air position in your jumps etc, are taken into consideration. Kwan did have weak spins, yet she won many titles because she was consisteny with her jumps and to certain point she had good choreography.

  • @towright
    @towright 13 лет назад

    @2010OlympicChampion I agree.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    Slutskaya had avarege positions in her spirals when we compare them Cohen's, still she won her titles because she had jumps, energy, skating skills. Now to make it even clearer for you in case you still don't understand, you can even make numerous mistakes on your jumps and still win beacuse your other qualities are so amazing. The living proof is PATRICK CHAN. He could not just have a fallout or double footed landing like Sasha usually had, He can fall a few times and he still wins.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  14 лет назад

    @88droid In terms of points received for long program under isu judging system, yes, it is. But this judging system was very young back in 2003 and probably this free skate would score differently if Sasha skated it at nowadays. And you should remember that she had many great performances under old judging system (6.0) including two flawless programs with seven triples: Worlds 2003 QR and Campbell's Classic 2004 while this LP from Skate America had one little flaw and 6 triples, not 7.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  12 лет назад

    LOL Sasha has never fallen while doing her spiral! At 2003 Worlds she fell on her camel spin when she got into too deep inside edge!

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    Kim has skated a clean short and long only in Vancouver. Besides, she always had some mistakes either in short or long. Kostner also fell on crossovers, it happens. Yes, there's no excuse for falling on crossovers, but you're wrong with camel. I think any skater could fall while spinning on such a deep edge. Of course she should've had enough control to keep the depth of the edge at the right level.

    Sasha didn't do herself any favors always changing coaches like she did. First John Nicks then Tarasova then Robin Wagner and then back to Nicks. I'm not sure if she was a difficult skater to coach but it seems that way.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +4

    Kwan's spins are very weak compared to other elite ladies. You're the one who do not understand figure skating at all. One can have some flaws in one acpect but can make it up with other utstanding qualities. Sasha won two worlds silver because the mistake she did on her jumps she made up with outstanding presentation AND other technical ascpects of skating besides jumps, spins, spirals and footwork. Kwan and Chen had weak spins, Chen in particular, but still they won their titles.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Patrick Chan can have his ass three times on the ice during one performance and still win. Sasha Cohen can have double footing or fall out or fall and she could still win as well. You shouldn't mention flutzing since your idol Kwan flutzed as well. You certainly don't know Cohen's performances, maybe just a few. There are numerous performances where she didn't "land a jump and her ass would go straight to the ice" like for example this one where you post so much shit underneath.

  • @BadassReturns
    @BadassReturns 11 лет назад

    I've seen comments from both sides; since I'm a Sasha fan, I've seen more of yours. While you no doubt have good intentions, there's the question of whether you've become all that you despise. I didn't even tag you, but you're patrolling Sasha videos just like Howsabowsa for Michelle's. Ultimately, if you're a fan of an athlete, that they won more or less is irrelevant. Just like I'm sure you wouldn't like to be constantly reminded that Michelle never won Olympic gold, it's the same for us.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Yu-Na Kim has skated only two clean free skates in her career. That's a FACT. Those are Olympics and 2007 CoR. Watch all her skates and then you can argue. As for Sasha, she won two worlds silver, a national title, grand prix final title what is not too shabby for her short career. Remember that she had to compete against Kwan, Slutskaya and Arakawa. Of curse had she kept her focus she would've won much more. 2006 Worlds title was for her to be taken.

  • @88droid
    @88droid 14 лет назад

    is this her best lp performance shes skated?

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    Sasha rarely managed to land a jump? What have YOU been smoking? She usually had a mistake on one or two jumps but generally she did land a lot of them. Have you even watched the performance you are posting those stupid and irrelevant comments under? She landed five clean triples and the sixth one with a little double-footing.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    A bad fan you are then since you don't know Yu-Na's work that well. Maybe you should rewatch her programs because Yu-Na almost always makes mistakes in her long programs, apart from two exemples I've provided. I can definitely compare Cohen to Kwan as she beat her many times in many competitions. Besides, Sasha was a cofavourite for many Kwan's titles so they definitely can be compared.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Sorry, Kim has skated two perfect frees in her life, the other one being 2007 CoR.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Why did Dick Button compare them many times? Is he also and idiot? I don't think so... Btw, a very difficult spin held for a long time with great quality (centering and speed) does trump an easy triple like toeloop. Figure Skating is about the total package and there are many many things which you take into consideration, not just jumps, not just spins. You have to evaluate everything, this is why Kwan won despite her weak spins, and Cohen won despite a problem on one of her jumps.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад +1

    Kim has ONE world title. You don't know what you're talking about. Use true arguments. Sasha and Michell CAN be compared. Sasha's presentation is exceptional and there's no reason why I can't compare it with Kwan's presentation or any ther skater's presentation. Besides, Sasha had way better spins and better spirals.

  • @BadassReturns
    @BadassReturns 11 лет назад +1

    I'm well aware Michelle was way more successful than Sasha. Yet, I like Sasha better. Does that make sense numerically? Not really, but fandoms are weird like that sometimes. I don't want to debate you, nor do I think you're a bad person. It's just something to think about.

  • @BadassReturns
    @BadassReturns 11 лет назад

    This has gone on too long for me to get a comprehensive look at *everything* you've said, and by no means are your comments close vile or disgusting. But like I said, fandom makes people say crazy things, and I'm not sure if the frustrated fans who blame the system deserve the same punishment as the ones who make racial/vulgar/terrible comments.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    As for elite level lady Kwan's spins were weak indeed. Especially her layback was a joke... You probably stopped watching figure skating when Kwan retired. Patrick Chan has his ice on the ice, yet he wins almost everything.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    That's pathetic. I've never claimed such stupid thing about Sasha and Michelle. Btw, my favourite skater is not Sasha but Irina.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    You're either a desperate Kwan fanatic who can't accept truth or you simply don't have the knowledge and that's the reason why you post that shit. Get your facts straight. Sasha did beat Michelle at some competitions. Look them up on youtube. Off the top of my head: 2003 Campbell's, 2004 Worlds, 2004 Marshalls, 2005 Worlds.

  • @Seresu1
    @Seresu1  11 лет назад

    Bullshit events where her competition was weak? Ok, so Kwan, Slutskaya and Arakawa are weak competition? At all those "bullshit events" Kwan was present. Is she a weak competitor to Sasha? Sasha did won many medals even though she competed for much shorter time than both Kwan and Slutskaya who had a lot more seasons to win all their medals. Staying upright in FS in not a requirement to win at all!!! YOU can't be this stupid. Do you even watch this sport? Have you heard of Patrick Chan, again?
