    As someone who's spent time in the same rink as Sasha, she is far from bitchy. A very nice person, just a bit aloof/shy. Gave me some skating tips and always said hi when we ran into each other.

    So many of her moves are obviously superior to other skaters. What I’m always focused on is her arms and hands. She does things with them that adds so much interest to her routines where are skaters are just flailing them around.

    What a brave comeback! That Russian split jump was amazing. I believe that if she would have played politics, and competed a bit before nationals, that she would have made the team. Her artistry, flexibility, spirals and spins are unparalleled! If I was a skater and could spin with one leg parallel with my body beautifully, I'd do it quite often too. The ending spin is basically one of her signatures. Because of her artistry, she's a legend! Thank you Sasha.

    THE best spiral sequence we will ever see from a female figure skater.

    • @gk891
      @gk891 6 лет назад +8

      As beautiful as Cohen's spirals were, I thought Shizuka's spiral was better at the 2006 Olympics. Not only does she show better edge control but she also makes a bigger pattern on the ice.

    • @soxnation1000
      @soxnation1000 5 лет назад +11

      @@gk891 Agreed. Spirals are not just about flexibility...they're about blade control. It's called figure SKATING, not figure contortion. And Kwan's spirals were also better in terms of blade control.

      @gk891 5 лет назад +4

      @@soxnation1000 I wasn't a big fan of Kwan but I do admit that her spirals were exceptional in terms of edge control. They were amazing.

      Agreed. Other skaters can have “better blade control” all they want. If I was a skater I’d want me a showstopping spiral sequence just like Sasha Cohen!

    • @gk891
      @gk891 5 лет назад +2

      @@DY-zk2zt If I was a skater, I'd want a spiral like Shizuka Arakawa as it would score better points. This is because she makes a much bigger pattern on the ice with her spiral sequence and shows far better edge quality and control than Cohen does.

    @russianskatingfan I don't really see the need to criticise Sasha so much for her comeback. Ultimately, it's her career and she felt she wanted to try one last time. You can see in all her interviews and her conduct at the medal ceremony for the Nationals that she was completely at peace with what happened and felt that whatever happened was meant to be. She struggled with some injuries which prevented her coming back sooner. Sasha showed incredible grace and class in her conduct.

Plus, she had nothing to lose, she's been to the Olympics twice already, got a Silver medal, she just wanted to experience the competition feeling again. Yes, her jumps were poor in the lp, but her short program was the program of the night (in terms of artistry and choreography). I just find it funny that we youtubers can so easily trash someone from the comfort of our sofas, when we aren't an 1/8th as talented.

    @mlc2005 That all makes sense. However she was not smart about her comeback. She should have come back at the start of the 08-09 season and trained all summer before that season to be ready. She was never the strongest technical skater even in her prime. The ladies were jumping far better than they were when she last competed. She tried to come back only in fall of 09, and pushing her boyd to do alot in a short time span injured herself, further rushing her attempt to be ready for Nationals.

I still can't figure out why she's a US commentator when she's Canadian.. there are enough world class female US skaters to have a different female commentator... don't get me wrong, I'm not being nationalistic, but Bezic is just bitter and biased most of the time.

  • @mmmmmvodka
    @mmmmmvodka 14 лет назад

    I'm so proud of her. Although her jumps could have been better. And I think the commentators believe that as well. And that's probably why they kept quiet most of the time when usually they would be talking. Especially at the end. They didn't want to say anything bad, but they knew she could have done better.
    Hopefully in the free skate, or the long program, she would be perfect and get gold. And a better reception from the commentators.

    Does anyone feel like the US Figure Skating Association will try and get Sasha to Worlds instead of Rachel Flatt? Sasha would probably place higher, and that would give the women a better shot at securing 3 spots for next year's Worlds. You can't rest all of that responsibility on Mirai. YEah, she got 4th at the Olympics, but it's not certain she will move up.

  • @sashalovr

    she's saying thank you to me at 6:54. check out my pics on flickr under my same name. hughes is nice. but sasha was unreal. she was so nice to people in practice, and gave people a time of day. signing autographs and such. and that flatt is the biggest BITCH i've ever said hello to in my life. and i confirmed this long before she jumping, but stylessly won. she wouldn't sign one autograph. sasha circled the whole rink. she is the best skater, and has the best personality. she's simply.. the best

  • @herm712
    @herm712 14 лет назад

    well as a spectator, that's what i'm supposed to do, sit on my sofa and judge regardless of whether i skate or not. as i said good for sasha for showing up but that felt like a half hearted attempt. her SP was decent but it was not the performance of the night; Mirai owned that entire event even though she came in second. sasha's SP looked like a recycled version of her 2004 malaguena program and her LP was not a competitive program. her levels were nowhere near where they should have been.

  • @russianskatingfan
    @russianskatingfan 14 лет назад

    I dont know what you base your idea on Sasha likely placing higher than Flatt. Flatt had two very questionable downgrades at the Olympics without which she would have finished 4th ahead of Nagasu. Flatt is one of the most consistent skaters, it is far more likely her skating that well again than say Lepisto doing so. Rochette is missing Worlds. So Nagasu and Flatt should both probably be top 5 at Worlds even if Ando skates much better than she did in Vancouver and makes the podium.

  • @russianskatingfan
    @russianskatingfan 14 лет назад

    Furthermore Sasha's skating at U.S nationals did not show she is likely to do well in the current very deep womens field. Where do you really think her skates from U.S Nationals would have placed? Did you even see her LP. She would have probably been 4th-6th in the SP, but dropped out of the top 10 in the LP. She would need to skate cleanly to even be 3rd to 5th at Worlds where Flatt and Nagasu probably will be and she couldnt skate clean programs even in her prime.
