    I agree more with Peggy about the passion and quality of the performance, especially in the last section (footwork). The finish was better than she had done at Nationals and Worlds. This was never her best program (as convincing as many of the others) but very good. I still regret that she never got the Olympic gold that she so deserved.

    I love Michelle’s triple flip! I think she has the best one.

    For the harsh critics she was also in pain from 2004 on. So she probably also was in pain throughout this whole season.

    Michelle is my Queen, but I agree with Mr. Button... and even Michelle admitted she was a year behind everyone else. Her first mistake was leaving Frank when she did (she should've waited until after Salt Lake) and then not competing under the new system when everyone else was.

    When she debuted this program with the original choreography I felt that it could really go somewhere. It his the nuances of the music it just needed more repetition. When she changed it I never liked it. Thankfully for this competition she changed from that unfortunate gold costume she wore at Nationals. I think the main issue that happened is Michelle stopped competing on the Grand Prix. So she could work out the kinks in programs and get more experience under her belt with the new system. When you only do 3-4 competitions a season as opposed to 6-7 it makes a difference no matter how seasoned you are.

    You know, I prematurely forecasted her with another Silver medal for the 2006 Torino games. HOWEVER; post actual results, she could have possibly taken the Gold home! Slutskayas health held her back and Cohen has always been an unreliable skater- beautiful one- but her nerves always got the best of her. Kwan could have definitely taken them on with a win. That would leave Michelle and Arakawa competing for the Gold. With a triple triple or a 3 jump combo, Kwan could have got it.

      Was this Michelle’s last public competition before 2006 Olympics? I’m guessing it was
      .

      Arakawa wasn't a great skater until the 2004 World championship, she lost weight to jump and had 3-3-2 ( just only once ). Arakawa's jump skill wasn't stable, her artistry was not as good as Michelle Kwan. If Michelle went to the 2006 Olympics, she would be the winner.

      I honestly think if she had done a typical program with six triple jumps and obviously a few combinations done cleanly with improved spins to get more points out of the code of points she could have very well walked away with the gold medal. Of course that's assuming the competition would have gone the same way with her in it. If she had managed to score close to Shizuka in the short, she would have needed only a little more than 126 points in the free skate to win which she could def do with a clean performance

    I wonder if her last jumping pass was meant to be a 3T+2T+2T or 2Lo.
    If she would've done that at the world's with a clean program a month earlier she may have left Moscow with a silver medal.

    • @ronaround74
      @ronaround74 3 года назад +1

      At 2005 Worlds that last jumping pass was 3T+2T so I'm guessing that's what Michelle was going for here; Marshall's wasn't an IJS event so she didn't really "need" a three jump combo. I agree with you that if she had skated a program of this quality and cleanliness in either the QR or LP (or ideally both) at Worlds, along with the handful of IJS "enhancements" she added in there, she would have medaled... maybe not silver but definitely bronze. Heck, had she even just avoided the mistakes on the 3S in either the QR or the LP there, that would have been enough to medal!

      @@TT-ee4qp I think Michelle waited too long to start seriously training/competing under IJS, but her injuries were also starting to take their toll around that time so I can understand her wanting to save her body for as long as possible with the hope of staying healthy enough to be competitive at the 2006 Olympics. Sadly it didn't work out for her.
