Superman wielding Mjolnir and Cap's Shield is perhaps one of my most favorite comic drawings ever. There is nothing more epic than that in all of comics.
The end of the battle was cooler
i.redd.it/nexzhfzrgmj11.jpg
is a huge F U to marvel from dc haha
Superman actually has a shield and sword
@Marcus Fenix Super had his ass kicked many times, a shield like that would have done marvels in those fights.
FACTS
Thor giving Superman the hammer is 1 of the best comic book moments ever
Superman also held Captain America's shield at the same time as Mjolnir.
If there was a crossover film with this scene it would get even bigger roars and cheers than Cap holding Mjolnir in Endgame.
Thor wanted Superman to use it - Odin agreed, disabling the worthiness enchantment. Cap sitting out the fight (when he's an on-field commander) just so Superman could get the shield, was even dumber.
That's because Odin told him too
@@marcusmullings9261
Odin told who what?
@TigerClaw!
Kinda. He has some of the worthiness qualities being a good guy who can do the right thing. And since all he had to do was whack a barrier, Odin allowed it - but didn't allow it after the barrier was destroyed. Now if the best way to stop the threat was to smash Krona's head until it explodes, Superman isn't doing that.
Superman with Captain America shield and Thor's hammer is perhaps one of the most epic panels in comic book history

I'll just repeat one critic's take on this moment, in case you missed my comment. "WHO WANTS TO SLAM DANCE WITH THE FIRST-BORN SON OF GOD?!?"
BTW, Thor had to lend Superman his hammer with special permission from Odin, otherwise Superman wouldn't have been able to use it. That's right, SUPERMAN of all people is unworthy to use Mjolnir. Why? Because he's not okay with killing.
The most screen time Quicksilvers ever gotten
@Gianpaolo Sitohang trueeee
He’s back
Basically Marvel agreeing that Superman is the REAL last line of defence among all heroes. When Superman stops fighting, you know it's really bad, and as long as he is fighting, there is hope.
I think this is beyond dispute at this point though lol
When you ask people what they think a superhero is, even in this time when Marvel Movies are dominating the film industry, people will still say Superman as an example. (They will likely say at least one of Spider-Man, Batman and Captain America, and guaranteed to say Superman)
Hmmmm I think you may have missed the point. They couldn't have done it without each other. Superman needed the avengers, he needed Thors Hammer, he needed Odin's permission to lift it.
Meanwhile, marvel needed him to be strong enough to lift it. The point was never about one hero or one side being the winner or one side having the most important artifact or character. The point, as usual, was that good triumphs over evil. Virtues like humility, strong will, might, and trust were put in display.
The overall concept wasn't about everything coming down to superman because they would have failed if it had been left to any hero, alone. The idea was that teamwork was the key. It happens this way most of the time.
If Cap and Bats didn't figure things out early on, if Thor didn't trust Sups with the hammer, if Superman wasn't deemed worthy, if flash and Hawkeye didn't work together at the end, they all lose..... Superman or no superman.
Amiright?
@@jasoncarter1869 that's the whole point people just look at the fights and don't see the bigger picture. You good sir have.
@Ike Dyson
I think that's true. To be honest, he should have died in this story. "Reality warpers" hit him with red sun radiation and kryptonite so it should have been over for him.
I mean even a human with kryptonite tipped bullets could kill him. Somehow, it just never turns out that way. They always write in some way for him to win even when it doesn't really make sense.
Even in BVS he basically should have been killed but "Martha" right? Smh
And then in the same movie, he of all people, used the kryptonite spear. He flies with it at full speed and full power. He shouldn't even have been able to pick it up. Fuckin writers.
Ike Dyson vision arm would be stuck in superman chest if he does that
Galactus has been killed so many times it's hard to view him as a serious threat anymore.
Shizukanashi Wakazashi that's right,it's like he is getting his butt kicked everyday....😒
Shizukanashi Wakazashi I kick his ass with any character
They should have had Black Widow and Hawkeye kill him....
i hope they do a cinematic crossover of DCU and MU. That'd be epic.

I'm a DC and Marvel fan, ... And funny thing is, I always thought Superman was like a crossover of Capt and Thor. He's God like strong of course, but he always sees reality, hates bullies, has a good heart and always has hope like Steven Rogers. What a fitting comic to see Supes lifting Thor's hammer and holding Capt's shield.
Yea he kinda is, i mean supermans OG motto was “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” 🇺🇸
I need to have a full instance of Captain America and Batman fighting in the rain. The most epic setting between two of the greatest fighters. The super soldier versus the world's greatest detective.

JLA/Avengers is actually canon, unlike Marvel vs DC

This is George Perez's magnum opus. The man lobbied for so long to get this made, and he deserves every win imaginable, Busiek too for writing it.
This is my favourite comic of all time, and it saddens me that this level of inter-company co-operation and friendly rivalry doesn't happen anymore.
This needs to be an animated movie. Please.
I think it could eventually become a two part live action movie. Now that superhero movies are bombing left and right, Marvel and DC are eventually going to get desperate for a hit, and will just say screw it, let's get this done.
0:00 Always loved that cover. The one thing I would change is that I would have a bunch of heroes behinds Superman, lying on the ground defeated to make it look like Superman is the last one standing.
I also loved how they made the world's slightly different like how the Avengers have to fight so hard just to keep up but the JLA are more celebrated.
THEY RUINED THEIR EARTH!
I'd like to see a new Marvel/DC crossover. I'd like to see something with Quicksilver and the Flash with QS accessing the Speedforce for the first time. I think an interesting story could be made when you mix Quicksilver's natural speed with the Speedforce enhancing it. You know, if this hasn't been done already.
No its never gonna be possible why?, Because speedforce only works for chosen ones, and QS will never be choosed by the speedforce because the speedforce belongs to Flash family and DC universe not Marvel
then why were there a bunch of people getting zapped and getting the speed powers (speedsters)... i wouldnt know.. i dont read dc... just saw it on the comicstorian page
NakedSaru Santahound Explain the Godspeed plot line then when random citizens were getting struck. All "chosen ones"? Why can't Quicksilver be a chosen one then? Why can't you get off that horse and enjoy the FICTION of the idea? If the writer wants Quicksilver to be "chosen" or whatever other criteria makes you eligible for the speedforce, then Quicksilver is eligible for the Speedforce. Chill.
Chris B. I think that's what they did with the first flash Jay garrick.....he ended up having a metagene that allowed him to move fast but as far as going to different dimensions he later was taught how to access the speedforce
There was a series of comics in the 90s called Marvel vs DC, eventually characters from both universes fused...
you know the ussual stuff
this was probably the best JLA/Avengers crossover they have... they haven't had a GOOD crossover since this sadly
i agree i like the other cross over cause the characters but not the actual story
The upside it that this crossover is cannon in the DCU. It is spoken about in the comics and he does eventually hatch from the egg with new power in DC comics.
darchangeldavid
really? interesting i didn't know that, i wonder if marvel also considers it canon as well
What new powers does he have?
+mrdann42 Yep it is, Kurt Busiek run in JLA is just after this (they mention the Avengers as "Exterior Help") and the Trinity weekly series of 2009 is kind of a sequel.
Great ending. That was the most appropriate way to end the story with Superman emerging as the ultimate super hero and teamwork.
Superman was the very first (and still the most powerful) so it was only fitting he was the last man standing.
You forgot that infinity and kismet, the embodiment of the to universes, in the background basically made a cosmic baby this whole story.
I know,thats the best part.
Maybe some details were omitted to encourage people to read the story themselves? Support the industry etc etc
JamcalX *Eternity
Imagine a good version of lex Luthor on screen with a good version of Dr Doom pitting these heroes against each other on the big screen
I would rather see a switch. JLA taking on Avengers enemies and the Avengers taking on JLA's enemies.
Like they said, Avengers do have alot more chaos in their universe, while JLA have alot more order.(Even tho they destroy cities every time they act.)
loleo123 I would love to see that. That would be more interesting then them fighting each other.
Zorastorm 32 Indeed. I mean, if they met eachother for the first time, Cap and Supes would be best buds and then Cap would probably train with Bruce Wayne.
It's not like they would fight eachother. Especially not Cap. Like in the last arc with the Illuminati. Captain America was the only person who didn't want to destroy other earths to solve their problem. He would rather try to figure out another way with the others on the other earths.
Funny how the Avengers ended up in DC universe just to discover that Marvel universe sucks lol
@@efxnews4776 THEY RUINED THEIR EARTH! WHERE ARE THERE HEROES! DON'T THEY CARE!
Marvel fans seem to take it hard seeing Supes wield both Mjolnir and Caps Sheild in a majestic fashion, which in the end came out as the guy who made it all possible. I mean honestly, who else would Thor throw his hammer at, everyone is almost beaten while Superman is also barely hanging in there but he's open and available, and who else would you put your faith for a chance to win other than the guy who is most capable atm. Superman has been beaten before, he's not the strongest, but he is one of the most capable to get a job done.
Shanks nah the fan base and the comics make him that way he originally wasn't even supposed to fly I honestly love D.C. But superman is a alien not a god he really doesn't make since it seems that the writers just want to make him immune to everything he's to over powered and it honestly needs to stop
of course he made it possible Beacuse of Thor and well Odin

I don't understand why no one in the marvel universe is disturbed by all these cosmic beings who silently watch everything you do. They don't get involved, they don't help, they simply want to watch you.
Watcher only shows up when he sensed battle about to go down :)
this is a better marvel vs. DC scenario. better story they should do it again
It was utterly fantastic, I really enjoyed seeing the Avengers and Justice League join forces to defeat a common enemy.
23:20 Superman made a spinal tap reference. Game over, gg, life complete.
Im going to guess its going to be mentioned that Superman was not in fact worthy and that the restriction was lifted.....
kingknotts expect fanboys to ignore that part lol.
The funny thing is the reason Superman is not worthy is one of the most iconic parts of his character.... he refuses to kill and as such does not meet the warrior requirement. Even Captain America who has in 2 instances wielded Mjolnir has proved himself to be a warrior and has killed.
***** Not only is it more recent [in canon anyway since it happened before in a what if story], it was complete horse shit when compared to what has long been established....since it involved stripping THOR Odinson of his name and on top of that NOBODY that was considered worthy being able to lift it due to the enchantment changing itself. On top of that while she has not killed she has proven herself to be willing to if needed by using Sif's sword to fight with while she was on side kick duty and has both been an Asgardian and had Sif inside of her.
Also killing doesn't have anything to do with it having the ability to do so when needed IS part of being a warrior which is explicitly a required characteristic. NOBODY with a strict no kill rule has been capable of doing so. Spiderman is the closest to one and even he has blood on his hands... He used Whisper as a human shield to protect himself causing Whisper to die, back when Strange lost his comic for a bit and the solution that made neither fanbase happy of forcing Spiderman to have to go to Strange for help constantly led to him erasing someone [the Shade] from existence, and the obvious Morlun..... The 2nd closest is Cap who has been very open about the fact he has killed people [mostly during war but there were a small number of times he has done so outside of war including shooting people to death based on instinct before he even realized he did so.
No kill = no worthy... there are a TON of requirements established to be worthy, being a warrior is one that while mentioned a number of the people that are worthy it is not obvious right away due to the life they lived beforehand [such as being an emergency responder]... A universal trait they have all possessed which is generally something considered to be a requirement of being a warrior is they will kill when needed.
Anthony Angelosanto Bad writing that goes against Marvel's history of the hammer, Odin, and Thor. Odin decides who is worthy by his enchantment. That's why he's grabbed it from Thor, and beat Thor's ass down when he was trying to teach him a lesson.
LSSRoshi Technically Mjolnir decides who is worthy but Odin had the ability to override the enchantment at any time. BRB for example Odin didn't decide was worthy since he didn't even know who BRB was until after the fact.
Superman fell to the dark side, stole Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield, the ring of power, made 7 horcruxes, and is on his way to release the Xerogen Mist. It's been nice knowing you.
Releasethezazen don't forget he trains Yautjaa in stealth sport hunting , planted the seed that would become Weiland-Yutani ergo engineering the xenomorphs WHILE schooling a youngling named Yoda in the ways of the force.....Fucking Superman.....geez....xD
He never stole anything. Odin gave him permission to pick it up. Superman was not worthy.

It should have been noted that the giant was Avengers villian Terminus and "the star fish"was Justice League villain Starro.A contrast was shown in how the League, who often outwits or out strategizes used mainly brute force or outpowered Terminus, the prime method that the Avengers usually employ. The Avengers alternately used a League/DC ploy to defeat Starro, namely "finding a weakspot" a classic DC solution for defeating their villains.

He was only able to lift it due to Odin LETTING him lift it, did you not watch the fucking video dipshit? Meaning he cannot lift the hammer.
+Lorena Muro technically superman does have infinite strength as long as there is a sun he has an unlimited power source he can use
Christian Guerrero Good point. But that just kind of goes to my point as well. Where as Technically he will need to depend on a Sun to provide his infinite strength, Hulk just needs to get angry to get stronger. I guess yes they're both infinitely stronger thus in theory Superman should be strong enough to lift it on his own, But Hulk can get angry anywhere where as in to your point, Superman will always need a sun. I wish the writers would be more specific with these things

I would say that the reason superman can't normally wield thor's hammer is that with it he is too strong
my thought is superman is worthy WHEN the insane strength is needed and no other time
Bryan Hinze Simply put, Superman is worthy, but as long as Thor is living and worthy, none can lift it at will but him

i agree on you on that. but regarding to thor, it's not the same. because for one thing his powers has rules and regulations. this happened to thor actually, he used his true strengths and powers and he became unworthy of his hammer. i'm not stating my say as an opinion but it did happened. it's in the comics.
John ps Davies Depends on which Superman since Doomsday did kill Superman with brute force. Hulk can technically do the same.

Are they still creating DC/Marvel crossovers? They seem like really fun stories. If not, why is that?
They don't anymore, because Disney doesn't own the movie rights to DC and that is all they care about.
Cameron West Its a shame that they don't but I bet it would be fun. I believe it's time to bring these heroes back together in another crossover adventure where the Justice League and the Avengers fight side by side once again but this time it's to stop unknown enemies that wants to bring about ragnarock by invading the nine realms and stealing some very powerful mystical stones that if bought together it would bring about the end of Asgard a little earlier and maybe the universe itself. I call this adventure JL/A crossover 2 "Battle for the 9 realms." The epic fight later ends where Asgard is almost completely destroyed but it isn't. What do you think? Should it happen?
Eric Madsen how would that effect dc?
I must say that I appreciate how in every few videos, you explain the term retcon. I've watched nearly all your videos and I still have trouble grasping it because the actual retcon scenario differs for each comic (if that makes sense; like what history is being re-written or removed?). That could actually be a video idea: "Notable Retcons in each Universe" Great job Rob.(Hey! That Rhymes!)
This would be an epic arc, just imagine how many movies they could come out with.

Now also remember that the hammer is sentient! It also dictates who it allows to wield it. For the love of Jenova, keep to the facts.
It's not that you have to kill to wield it. You have to be willing/able to kill. It's unlikely that Eric Masterson, Red Norvel, and Simon Walterson had killed people prior to picking up the hammer.
SumWytGai/En Grey/ TinyTitz It's called bad writing. This was a crossover, not canon to Marvel. The main origin of the hammer tells of it being forged with the core of a dying star by dwarven blacksmiths. This is just a new direction with writing. Odin made the enchantment with a warrior being worthy in mind. Wonder Woman is more worthy than Superman as far as Mjolnir is concerned. She lifted it in an earlier crossover.
FoneyBone1 Superman is noble, and good. It goes against the core of his character to go and kill. It's just not who he is and why he isn't a warrior worthy of welding Mjolnir... As opposed to Wonder Woman who has no problem killing if that's what it takes.
JLA/Avengers is the only canon crossover, DC vs Marvel was canon but was retconned. It's also canon to both DC and Marvel as the story has a direct sequel in DC and this crossover is what caused Scarlet Witch to go crazy and cause House of M. I agree with Wonder Woman lifting the hammer and not Superman since he's not normally willing to take a life.
Whatever Fury told Thor actually made him unworthy since he lifted an alternate Thor's hammer that could only be lifted by the unworthy, and Odin was still able to lift it. He has however regained his worthiness since then though but I believe Jane still has the hammer.
Could Odin not lift it? I read somewhere he could but if that's wrong then him telling the hammer something might be the case. It could also explain why Jane can lift it despite he not really having a warrior's spirit or whatever.
The willingness to kill (at least as far as I know) is from Walt Simonson when he was talking about Beta Ray Bill lifting the hammer. He said in his opinion Superman couldn't lift it because he wasn't willing to kill someone (quite the example), however he also said he didn't believe Captain America could lift it and he's done so twice so take that as you will.
Dude I'm a huge fan and love all of your videos, but that music is simply horrible. I'm still laughing.
I read this comic Superman never lifted Thor's hammer he simply caught it in mid-air and kept the momentum going to smashed it through the wall that he could not break through himself he never beat up any bad guys with it or used any of its specific powers he did nothing with it but break through a wall and then dropped it in all the chaos that's it never did he physically pick it up off the ground
He still stopped thor using it against him and boopbopped mollywhopped thor lol
we need a marvel/dc cross over movie with marvel studio's spear heading the project and dc adding the things they do better
Need this movie has to be a two part movie
Yet another great video.. man you make some awesome videos ! doesn't hurt that I love crossovers...🙂 keep up the great work bro!
Of course Superman is worthy to lift Mjolnir. It was only Odin's enchantment that no one but Thor could lift the hammer that made it impossible to lift again. I mean, if anybody is worthy enough to lift that hammer, it being based on worthiness and nobility of character, it would be Superman. Silver Surfer should also be able to lift Mjolnir, assuming Odin's "Thor only" enchantment was lifted.
Also what if Batman and Cap switched places for like 3 months, two things I’d think a be interesting is Cap adapting to Gotham and the dynamic between him and Jim Gordon, imagine he shows up to GPD early in the morning and Jim like “We usually do this at night what are you doing here” lol and the other thing is Batman and how Cap his the leader of the avengers it would be funny if Batman comes and tries to change the avengers into a more Dark/Spec Ops type team and everyone disagrees except Hawkeye and Black Widow lmao, they’re just like “ No..No this guy knows his stuff”
Guys why are you understamiting superman he's the first superhero just show him som respect ✊ and he's badass and every character made to beat superman because he was the first superhero ever existed but as we see now superman is powerful he can stay the sun like 50 years and become like god and more powerful than his normal power and i am thor fanboy but i am not idiot i know everything about marvel and DC

Wally explains how he gets back to the DC universe in the page "....as my powers faded, my vibrational rate went back to normal...and I popped back into keystone". I have seen Wally intentionally vibrate in and out of other dimensions in the DC comics.
