I wonder if Silver Surfer ever sees people surfing on beaches and goes “Pfft.”
His surfboard won't float its metal
tonylama Thanks for not understanding joke
What about people surfing the internet?
@@tonylama2012 Don't under estimate him.
He can manipulate matter. He could definitely change the density so that it could float. Also you completely missed the joke.
I love how in the end, Thanos admitted that it was ironic that after killing and destroying so much. The best thing he did was give his life and heal the universe. It also felt like this wasn't just some story for a villain to be beaten it was the Thanos redemption story.
The One Above All pulls this apocalyptic stuff all the time for shits and giggles. It just sat back in Secret Wars and got the popcorn
So what you're saying is that TOAA created the first internet troll?
***** That was Loki, TOAA's unwitting chesspiece
John Porteous Ah, you're right.
John Porteous Toaas weak id knock him out any day.
it's not easy. well he is a 80 year old man
"The first bank of absolute power is always open for business..." is going to me my new motto for 2017.
Steve Charles I had a checking & savings account with First National Bank of Absolute Power. Eventually, FNBAP closed my account due to lack of funds...and power.
so now I use WellsFargo.
I love this line!
One of the best metaphors I’ve heard all year.
This aged well
How does it feel now that it’s 2022
Seeing that rendition of George W Bush standing amidst Dr Doom and the leader of the mole people just made me laugh for it's absurdity.
Eric Staples I read his lines in his voice
"(Spider-man) basically turned Earth into like a planet full of cannibals" Huh? What?
Pretty sure that reefers to the Punisher story line The marvel universe vs. the punisher. If I remember Rob covered that story, just search for punisher in his videos.
There was a virus or something that made people turn back to their primal states. The Punisher shot the vial and basically set all this in motion by accident. Spidey was just the first infected and showed it off by beating the Rhino to death and eating him like... well a real Rhino.
After that everything devolves into cannibal tribal culture etc.
Martin Rosenmuller did Rob cover this story? can someone link it here? :)
Martin Rosenmuller
Why spidy why lol
"There will never be another resurrection!"
(immediately resurrects everyone)
Has anyone ever noticed that eternity and infinity never win a fight? Their supposed to be really powerful but what have they ever done
@@zaqatac none of the abstracts ever really do. They basically exist to serve as goal posts.
I like the story telling structure Jim Starlin uses whenever he writes. He makes Thanos a logical nutcase with overwhelming power.
Unlike 90% of Marvel Writers who writes Thanos as a petty thug or as a creepy necrophiliac.
I cannot agree with this more. Thanos is my favorite character because of Jim Starlin. Thanos is troubled internally, so he can never appreciate the godly powers he attains. His own inner turmoils defeat him, much like us human beings.
Here from the future to confirm that fact.
I find Sterlins style boring..it always has to involve some overarching artifact of power, everyone dies and then deus ex machina ending.
"Logical Nutcase" hahaha that's a nice one considering it's an oxymoron
Thanos literally destroys the Marvel Universe so much already.
Yeah, there are probably thousands of stories like that
I guess it's a Marvel competition to see if anyone can write "the end of all things" series better. None of these series are canon to the Marvel universe.
Hey he restored it again so this is different
Moviejack : That is true.
that is true
And this is why we need Adam Warlock in the MCU. The guy who can reason with Thanos. That's literary his function in Marvel comics.
Jonathan Luoto thanos I came to reason
Jonathan Luoto
Literally vs literary. If you wanted to use literary there, the proper form would have been "literarily," but I think you really meant "literally" and just wrote the wrong word.
^ Thanks so much for that.....
Im calling it, he will turn up in the infinity war part II post credits scene.
Bush, Doctor Doom and Gadaffi at the same place? Never would have guessed. Illuminati confirmed.
Anagram Confirmed 😂😂😂
Doctor Doom did 9/11
The fact that these events have been referenced in 616 continuity twice make The End cannon
Thanos wielding HOTU and destroying MU , then recreating gave me chills
Yet he kills himself after Creating only 1 new universe as it cost him all his energy to make 1 new universe from scratch.
Main marvel universe: *Ends*
Other Marvel universes: "There he goes again 🤦♂️. 50 bucks says he'll be back later today."
What scares me about thanos isn’t what he does, but what he is capable of. When you think about it...thanos is written to be a character who really is the definition of thinker, albeit not that smart sometimes, but jeeeeez does he ever go far in his plans. He wants to have a relationship with death, he wants to be one with power itself, he wants to rule above all, and the scary part is knowing he has found TONS of different ways to do it! The infinity gauntlet and cosmic cube are just two ways, but this man single handily finds dozens of different ways to defeat, usurp, destroy, conquer...his potential alone makes me fear him more than doc doom
I love the fact that Hulk was just like,
"THERE'S A ROBOT!"
And just disregarded all of their stealth for a low-level threat.
I mean, what if it was just a butler?
The Knight of Shoop
"Hulk smash puny butler bot!!!! Hulk wanted three scoops not TWO!!!"
Honestly, this is all BS because I don't really understand what the Defenders thought that they could do against these God like beings, all of them including Thanos should have been wiped out easily. LOL
My problem with this is...Dr.Strange has been shown fighting cosmic level being by himself and MOPPING THE FLOOR with them. Strange has access to other dimensions, dimensions where their power will not function, and he can easily shift everyone into other dimensions...this is one of his common tactics when dealing with high powered people, shift them around to places where their powers are weaker or function differently, or require different methods to activate. Strange doesn't just think 3 steps ahead, he thinks 300 steps ahead.
@@Nempo13 maybe at peak of his powers, he got nerfed
*Hulk eats a robot for twelve minutes while everyone else struggles with the terrifying scene.*
One thing you missed out on mentioning is how Thanos realized that he needed to recreate the universe before Adam Warlock showed up at the end, but that he struggled with the idea, because creating went against everything that Thanos had ever stood for. He therefore viewed the entire mess as The One Above All tricking him into doing its work for it. This was definitely a good story though, which I only read like two weeks ago. One of Starlin's better works after Infinity Gauntlet.
It really tells you something about Marvel's character consistency when Thanos is an invincible and super smart badass under Starlin but then he becomes a jobber under other Writers.
So Thanos saves the MARVEL Universe from becoming the Cancerverse, where Death has no power, and NOTHING dies.
@Edo Minato Do you mind explaining it to me? I know a bit but had some doubts. Thxs
@Edo Minato Why is there a problem that Deaty doesn't exist, what are the Many Angled Ones, how strong is it compared to the other Verses? Thxs
It was just a commentary about authors bringing characters back to life and diluting storylines with no no real threat of consequences.
It’s a literary exposition about the figurative cancer in the comic book industry as a whole.
Rob. So what I want to do is tell you that your the man!
(In Rob's Voice) Fanboy !
What's going on guys
Thanos is dieing in the comics story wise right now
so jeff lemire says
You're* Dying* 2016 and people still spell like third graders.
JIM STARLIN AND RON LIM was the greatest writer artist in marvel, my opinion. Just an absolute appreciation to these guys for giving the marvel universe such a great and mind bending story lines.
When Defenders die "lol I don't know why that's funny"
Favorite part
when you realize how deep this comic was😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
Literally made me realize my whole existence
Thanos didn't destroy the universe...
He destroyed existence itself...
K.
Jk that's a really good comment.
@Edo Minato Can one above all can kill thanos with the heart of the universe?????
@@Haku-md6hd easily
@@Haku-md6hd it was a piece of one above all afterall. But sadly i think thanos erased it so in reality one above all might not be a omnipotent being anymore.
He gave oblivion his moment of victory, a precursor to his final victory when all comics end when the one true God returns to earth
Jim never disappoints in his writing.
Well say that right now he has become a former shell of what he was sadly
I will literally watch anything with Thanos in it.....so....
The First Bank of Absolute Power LMAO
William White Latveria FTW XD
Thanks to Rob, I honestly think all the celestial beings are the coolest thing Marvel has..I wanna see some of them in the movies now
Well you see a dead Celestial in Guardians of the Galaxy and in a video how the Celestials use an infinity stone to wipe out all life on a planet.
Mission Report: December 16, 1991.
Part of me wanted these comic series to actually be the Real Ending to the Marvel Universe. I mean. It's a pretty good ending. Thanos finally gets to be together with Death. The corruption of the universe is fixed and Life can proceed normally with nothing to stop Death from taking it's natural course.
thats too much avengers seasons just started
maybe in futut
re
sorry im wrong... i cant find my comment
Rob, please cover the spiderman story you mentioned where he turns the world into cannibals!
Volpe2077 Marvel Universe Vs. The Punisher. He actually did a video of it back in March
He could do more of the tie ins is what there saying.
This may sound weird, but if anyone deserved absolute power, it would be Thanos. Like everyone else in the Marvel universe, he has his own agenda, but whats different with him is that it doesnt take much for him to understand what power really is. Even with this story, Thanos may have had his own agenda rather than being neutral like the other cosmic beings, but he had every right to act in his own accord. He was all powerful. HE made the rules. Right and wrong are determined by him. And to hammer the nail in, he sacrificed himself for the greater good, and as an added bonus, got to spend eternity with the love of his life.
This story actually is completely IN continuity. it launched a Thanos ongoing series
popeye697 and a very good story in my humble opinion.
I love how it's from Thanos' point of view.
I don't believe it is, or if it WAS in canon, then they are ignoring it now. Cause all new all different Marvel, and the Battle World before it, is basically Franklin/Dr.Doom reviving all the heroes into a new multiverse. But what Thanos did would have made that impossible. He would have made it to where even Franklin could not revive people. But we have seen Franklin do just that before, especially with Galactus.
If this story was in Canon, Battle World and Secret Wars would not be possible to exist, because Franklin and Dr. Doom would be unable to revive anyone that died. That includes making new galaxy with those people or new timelines and moving them over. It just would not work. As soon as a hero died, he was Perma dead with no way around it. He 'cured' the universe, and fixed the loophole.
popeye697 this story was of late 2003.... and marvel officially stated that this story was not of official continuity .... as at the end everything goes to normal.. even thanos doesnot remember that he was the heart of the universe at one time... and the celestrial orders never discovered it so no celestial order had formed moreover he formed the universe to its old age... and this story has to do nothing with anything ever going in marvel universe and this story will nevwr be related to anything... ever...
marvel themselves stated...
Brevoort has always been kind of a douchebag Who frequently buttheads with Starlin.
This video was so engaging. I love the passion and enthusiasm that Rob put into this video.
This may be the best of the videos of yours that I've seen. GREAT JOB!
Man your story telling skills, tone of voice, all the work that goes into making these videos, bravo my good sir, damn good cheers bro! Subbed for sure btw!
always love a story where Thanos is an ultimate badass! Thanks and keep on keepin on Rob
my good sir I must thank you..I have always been intrigued by marvel comics however never got around to reading them, so you've basically have helped me get to know them well. thank you, I really enjoy your videos and especially this one because ITS SO EPIC!!! Keep up all the awesome work! 😀
great video rob. wonderful story and extremely well read. thank you.
Hey man, love the new content! You obviously put a lot of work and time into it. I really like this story because it has a large variety of characters! I would suggest doing a video on green gobling, he's not that complex but his story is bigger than most think. Merry Christmas!
I can't keep myself from thinking how awesome a team-up between Silver Surfer Thanos and Doctor Strange would be. I believe if they were able to work as a team they could challenge even The cosmic entities
Damn dude. Thanos at his best. I know you'll probably never see this Rob, but you're the only channel I consistently follow and I watch everything you upload even if I don't necessarily read the stories that you talk about. Totally proud to be in the Robcore.
I love how you don't put commercials in the middle of the clips but rather at the end. Please keep it that way :) Raising revenue whilst at the same time keeping fans full attention!!! No out-lashes at any half-way consumed videos because of interruptions from adverts!!! Happy as larry over here. Oh and of course, your clips are, as always, incredible, keep it up Rob!! Been a supporter for a long time!!!
SOOOOOO in the end, the "one above all" not only took a break from doing it's do, but gave the choice to a being that, givin that situation, would redeem it's soul and save the universe as-well? not only that, but show the readers (the watchers of the one above all) that it is able to do a good job? Any story dealing with the "one above all" can have many different meanings...depending on how many levels one is willing to go. Good job by the way. I love your channel, my cat goes to sleep to your voice.
cover more doctor doom like doom prophecies of world ,doom vs squirrel girl round 2
or squirrel vs galactus
Thanks Rob. Some of us never read comics so it helps that we have you here to explain things things to us.
How DARE people put dislikes. This video was great!
Anyway--
Rob, have a happy holiday and new year. Great work as usual and thank you for your time and effort to make these videos. Us fans appreciate it.
Thanos rules
Finally. Thank you!!!
You are my new source of comic stories I need to own and read. Much thanks!
Great channel man, so glad I found it, binged watch all you vids, superhero overload.
at this point rob everyone in the marvel universe has probably killed the marvel universe lol
Thanos destroyed exiestinece itself without the infinty gaulet thanos > darkseid
Madara destroys Marvel lmao.
@@luisalbertoarenasaraya4579 how ?
@@leahmay76 he had the power of the heart of the universe. Literally anybody could have did the same thing with that power
That was a pretty cool story thanos really just killed the universe like it was nothing no issue with it at all like it was a roach or something and that's what makes thanos such a bad ass not a care at all and indifferent to destroying all life and the universe
This was a-meiiiii-zing to listen/watch. love learning about comics here 🙌
I really like the length of your videos, i can turn on a playlist and listen or watch !
I love Marvel, but if they don't do Thanos justice in Infinity War, I will flip my shit.
I Hope the Russos talked to Jim Starlin.
Same, dude.
They done did him justice, could have been more OP tho
John eckleston um no they didn’t he got hit by a powerful hammer mind you, but not more powerful then all 6 infinity stones. THATS BULLSHIT Even the black order were nerfed. Corvus getting bested by Black Widow.Lol WTF. So I don’t know why your lying they fucked him up, it should’ve been way easier for Thanos but they fucked it🖕
MyNameIsDrope Agree that’s just typical Disney Marvel for ya they always love to dumb down villains to entertain kids 🤦♂️
Judging by the title I guess this is when Thanos gains the Heart of The Universe.
Happy holidays Rob! You're definitely that dude! Thanks for another year of great times even better stories. My favorite was when Thor put Iron Man in his place and he hit him w/the RICK JAMES! LOL!
dude i have 2 subscriptions...my vanity sol band black metal project...and you...dude you are awesome and made the comics and discussion fun and followable again...you took me back to 89 90 and caught me up to today thanks bud
11 mi n utes and I am still not the first to comment. man, rob you ha e fans waiting for you to upload immediately. anyway just wanted to wish you happy xmas and new year. keep up the good work, lately your work has been excellent and varied. I have really enjoyed it, and it seems you seem to have a new love for dc as it is obvious in your voice. anad is varied, butvas I say best I wishes
Thanks a lot, Merry Christmas to you too.
ComicsExplained Thanos even had a scrotum chin when he was a kid.... Damnnn
no wounder he's always pissed and wanting to kill everyone
side question, who's eye beam is more powerful Superman or Cyclops?
Darren from wales
"Thanos destroying the Marvel universe" *giggles*
Great story man thank you for letting us to listen to this I understood every single detail and enjoyed this
I love Jim Starlin's Thanos. The way that he always writes him as the smartest person in the issues. Also, the last issue... Best Thanos comic ever written. Explains the character so accurate and good. Perfect ending. Also the last lines of Warlock's about Thanos... With that *spoiler* scene from 1 or 2 pages before (The one with the surprise guest) it totally breaks heart and also confuses me whether it's a good thing, or a bad thing.
He makes Thanos too strong he made Thanos stronger then toaa
Correction - those heroes Akhenaten had on display actually were *dead*. Daredevil confirmed it by saying he couldn't hear any heart beats from the heroes. Zeus further confirmed it by saying he wanted revenge on Akhenaten for killing Hercules.
THis was actually an AMAZING story!!!!
My only complaint about ComicsExplained is that I have become to addicted to these videos, that when I first found them, I spent about 2 weeks at my job listening to them while working. Now, I'm sad I can't see new content all day. UPLOAD MORE ROB GOSH. But in all seriousness, this is probably the most amazing channel I've found that is done by a solo person. Keep up the good work rob! Peace.
great vid rob. been waiting a long time for you to cover this.
Is there a good story where Magneto confronts the Red Skull or Hydra?
Mr Tobi1018 try Captain America # 367 he confronts red skull. Hope this helps.
mcinnisj100 thanks
mcinnisj100 From this comment alone you seem like a master scholar of comic book knowledge.
In Uncanny Avengers he actually "kills" red skull that's been empowered with Professor X's powers which transforms him into the Red Onslaught. Only cool part of the story though since the Axis event is Meh.
Soetpotatis True, but the Axis event was a hell of a lot better than Civil War 2 (which was the worst event in Marvel history IMO), Monsters Unleashed, and the X-men VS Inhumans events. I enjoyed it. Good and evil heros/villains switching places was cool. Plus Red Onslaught was dope. Not better than the original Onslaught though. Especially since he had Charles, Eric, Franklin Richards, and Xman's powers. That MF was super duper overpowered OP with Xman and Franklin alone.
That wacky Thanos!
I love watching your videos especially when you laugh. Epic pure epic 10/10
I was waiting for this story, thank you as always Rob
woah i'd watch a video on spiderman killing the marvel universe that sounded dope
rob is it true marvel got fantastic 4 back I saw ur tweet but still haven't seen any else about it? also great job big fan
Incredible video!!!
Loved it a lot. Crazy ending.
That was fantastic !
Very gratifying video !
Marvel The End actually is in continuity if one includes the original Thanos solo comics which follow directly afterwards.
What an AWESOME story !! I really need to read this !!
W.W Outlaw what is with your profile picture
moviegirl I don't understand your question.
But if it's in regards to WHO it is, it is Black Adam.
this was awesome Rob
While another great video, leaving out how beautiful the ending exchange with Thanos and Warlock was, is a travesty.
the only who can defeat Thanos is Thanos himself.....

what I love about Marvel abstracts is that their comics are usually always good. They're deep as fuck and mad underrated.
Love your videos. Great explanations
3:05 Whats with the clothes in this issue? They made Beast some kind of leather Ben Franklin.
Talk about Blade! Please 😌
Hey Rob, this is yet another fantastic video. I have a request for a comic explanation - I've read here and there that in marvel comics there exists another race of omnipotent cosmic beings called the Infinites. .. It is extremely rare that I ever see them mentioned, and honestly it has been difficult to find any information on them. It'd be awesome if you could do a video about them.

Never read comics when I was younger. I watched the cartoons, but recently I've wantedd to get into the comic world. I rarely have time to find and then read all this, but I'm grateful you explain all of this stuff. My buddy tells me all these stories and I'm fascinated, so it's nice to find a channel to do the same at will.
I really enjoyed this one; but then I've been a huge fan of Jim Starlin both as an artist and as a writer since the very beginning, (well not quite the beginning; the beginning was buying the the first issues of the Marvel stalwarts, by Lee, Krby, Ditko, Don Heck etc, of Hulk, Fantastic 4, Iron Man, Avengers, X Men et al, aged 9 and now I'm 60,) thank you.
This makes me want a Thanos solo movie
It would be R rated that's for sure
We don't need thanos spin off
Amazing story, this is why Thanos is so much better than Darkside could ever be.
HeroSquad1millionA.D. No... definitely not🌝
yes definitely yes
Thanos is so much more complex than Darkseid, he is a beloved villain
Colt Hawkins um no he isn’t. But I do love him. I was happy kills everyone. In the Infinity Hickman series, when he beats all of the avengers without gauntlet was awesome. But when you compare him to Darkseid, no.
MyNameIsDrope Subjective. I like Thanos more than Darkseid
Thank you Rob love this edition
Thanks for the summary. I need to get this comic and read it tonight.
Imagine this Thanos in Endgame
@Jerry Mathurin I meant imagine the reaction for him killing the Avengers in the most brutal way possible like this in Endgame
