Correction: Earth-One Wonder Woman was killed by the Ant-Monitor, not Earth-Two. The ending with Zeus was ambiguously worded, the Alex Ross cover has him holding Wonder Woman opposite Earth-One Superman and Supergirl in the same pose so it lent credibility to my interpretation, and multiple Wikis including the DC Wiki listed it as Earth-Two. However, many of you guys politely pointed out the difference in costume design. I thought it was a solid interpretation, but can totally admit when I'm wrong. Plus, this is another great example of Wikis not always being accurate!
One of my favorite alternate takes for Barry Allen's death comes from a trade paperback officially called "Secret Origins of The World's Greatest Super-Heroes" which came out in 1989. In it, while tearing apart the Antimonitor's weapon, He accelerates faster than tachyon particles and eventually arrives at his own origin as the lightning bolt that struck the chemicals giving him his powers. I was given this comic collection as a Christmas gift in the 90s from an older cousin. They are responsible for my current love of comics.
Also Barry Allen didn't keep disintegrating. The early appearances was him running backwards and forwards in time as he destroyed the Anti-Matter canon and died as he did it. It was all one action, one disintegration as he travelled in time. Still didn't stop writers bringing him back.
I still think it's the most bitter irony that the entire point of Crisis was to make the DC universe/continuity simpler and easier to understand. But in the end it has only resulted in making it more complicated than it was before. It also began DC's unhealthy obsession with doing reboots to clean up their continuity, which only made things worse.
They need to realise that a reboot does not make the continuity simpler. it just means that now the reader has to go through the trouble of diferenciating between "that's pre-[reboot x] continuity" "that's currently canon" "it was canon during [reboot x], was retconed in [reboot y] but they reinstated it in [reboot z²+2x].
@@emperormegaman3856 Exactly, this is what I have to do constantly whenever I try to get my friends to get into DC, it's frustrating. Far from making things more simple, it actually does the opposite, it makes it way more complicated and threatening to newcomers. Say what you want about Marvel's floating timeline shenanigans, but I'd take all the wacky stuff that comes from that over the constant resets DC insist on doing.
He seemed to really love drawing those epic crowd shots. Dude had a clause in his contract to be free to draw a Marvel+DC crossover, and when Avengers/JLA did happen he did so many beautiful group shots of all those iconic heroes.
@@Future_Vantashe was originally signed to draw JLAAVENGERS in 1983 before editorial killed the book, I heard he threatened the Marvel editor if he wasn't assigned to 2003 JLAAVENGERS.
Love how Golden Age Superman was sent to a paradise dimension to give him a happy ending only for DC to yoink him out again 20 years later just to have him beaten to death by Prime.
I feel like this is one of those stories that even people with a passive interest in comics know just a little bit about but not anywhere close to the whole story
I miss Pre-Crisis DC. I never had a problem with understanding the different earths. I loved them, as it was special to see Shazam and Superman together.
The Pre-Crisis Multiverse still exists in all of its various ways outside The Current Prime DC Multiverse out in The DC Omniverse and THE TRUE OMNIVERSE ITSELF
There are at least 2 "official " versions of The Pre-Crisis Multiverse which have been restored. The Convergence version and The Multiverse-2 versions. The Multiverse-2 version is a zombie version of The Pre-Crisis Multiverse while The Convergence version is a completely restored version of The Pre-Crisis Multiverse
@fredbaker2785 You don't get it then. The writing is completely different as a result of publishers closing up shop and DC buying up all the ips. When those universes die in COIE they are gone for good. And as it stands there is no bringing them back.
I was horrified when this came out. Yet I could not stop reading it. Comic books were a huge part of my life. It was a who's who on talent, things that went back since b4 I was born. All just seemly tossed away like it all meant nothing. Comics helped teach me how to read. I still to this day am horrified and fascinated by the impact it has had ever since. I was born in 1962... a lot of insane things have gone on and the mad house keeps getting more insane and the lunatics are no longer on the grass... they are running everything.
Yeah it probably made things more confusing. It was a good send off to a great era. Honestly I love the Bronze Age of comics it was in my opinion the most consistent and greatest era but nonetheless this event is still at a scale thats never been surpassed or met since
If you haven't gotten the novel, I would highly recommend it's so great. I lost my copy when my first wife and I broke up. I think she took it, but she loved it too, so if it's has a good home I'm ok
Happy for the nod to Arrowverse's take on COIE. It may have been victim to the ever tightening purse strings of CW, but it did honor the spirit of the comic with so many great cameos and nods to all of live action DC, even the old DCEU with ErzaFlash, who got his hero name from GustinFlash. Also love the Marv Wolfman cameo, that was endearing. Plus they did really good build up to the event, all the way from the first episode of Flash. Still love the S08Ep01 Arrow episode that ended with the wall of white erasing the Arrowverse Earth 2. Great vid!
COIE was the first DC Comics event I read. Being fairly new to comics, I just assumed it would be a year-long JLA/JSA team up. I saw the ads... "Worlds will live! Worlds will die!" I scoffed. I thought.. This is DC! Nobody is gonna die! Then, I bought the first issue... Earth 3 was wiped out! I thought ... "Oh, CRAP!" I never missed an issue! I loved it!
19:35 I would prefer all of the DC heroes retaining their memories of everything pre-Crisis since the first Crisis in 1985. That way, they would recall their entire pre-Crisis history and would be told by others what changes happened since the first Crisis.
19:29 You know that quote makes me wonder if sometimes it's okay when the characters loose their memories, the event gets changed because time travel, and etc. Considering that only us the readers will forever cherish and remember such events.
21:26 I’ve read it, and it’s a nice comic. However, a few changes I would make is to make sure that Wonder Woman’s pre-Crisis history would retain post-Crisis (so that Donna Troy’s history won’t get screwed over), Power Girl keep her Kryptonian origins (and have her be found by the Earth-One/New Earth Superman and join the JSA) and Supergirl’s history be kept (without Superman’s history being screwed over), Superman’s Superboy history be kept (without the Legion continuity being screwed over), Batman’s pre-Crisis roots be kept (because I like a Batman who is fun, witty, understanding, and compassionate alongside his appearance as a dark and mysterious character), and the Golden and Silver Age Hawks coexist on the same earth (with Hawkworld either be set early in the Silver Age Hawks’ careers or be an Elseworlds story) just to make sense of it all. Before the post-Crisis version of the first Crisis, all the Golden Age superheroes would be active from 1938 to the early 1950s, with Captain Marvel (and all the Fawcett heroes) being active from 1939 to their disappearance in 1953, the JSA being active from 1940 to 1951, the Seven Soldiers being active from 1941 to their disappearance in 1948, the Freedom Fighters being active from 1941 to 1956, and the All-Star Squadron being active from 1941 to around 1945. The Silver Age superheroes would make their debut starting with the coming of Superman in 1968 (since Superman was born in Krypton in 1945 before he arrived on Earth in 1948 and made his debut as Superboy in 1956, the year that the Silver Age started publication), Wonder Woman in 1967, Arthur Curry Aquaman in 1969, Batman in 1970, Barry Allen Flash in 1973, Hal Jordan Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter (even though he arrived in 1955) in 1975, Green Arrow in 1971 (with his Golden Age adventures happening via time travel from 1941 to 1948 with Roy Harper Speedy), Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkwoman and Ray Palmer Atom in 1977, and Dinah Laurel Lance Black Canary in 1979. The JLA would form in 1975 and would meet and team up with the JSA (who came out of retirement the first time in 1963 before they retired in 1968) in 1978, Flash of Two Worlds would happen in 1977 (after Keystone City was in suspended animation on the night that Barry Allen became the second Flash in 1973), the Charleston Comics heroes would be active since the arrival of Captain Atom in 1975, Kara Zor-El would arrive on Earth from Argo City in 1975, the Teen Titans would form in 1978 before becoming the New Teen Titans in 1983, Infinity Inc and the Outsiders would form in 1983, the Fawcett heroes would return from suspended animation in 1980, and the Freedom Fighters would reform since 1981. By the time of the first Crisis in 1985, all the heroes and villains had worked together to defeat the Anti-Monitor, resulting in the death of Supergirl, Barry Allen Flash, and many others. That is what I should do for the post-crisis timeline before the first Crisis.
Thank you for this video. I feel it's the first video I've watched that actually explains Crisis On Infinite earths well. Great job. I look forward to watching the rest of the videos to come for this playlist
21:30 I’ve read it as well, and it’s nice that we get to know what happened during the first Crisis from Barry’s perspective and see all the heroes of Earth-One encounter the Justice Alliance of Earth-D.
19:04 Nice Nostalgia Critic reference, Drake. It actually reminded of a Linkara Crisis video where he said the Psycho-Pirate became the Nostalgia Critic because Psycho-Pirate being the only one who remembers the infinite earths.
Hey Drake! I'm a comic book shop employee and these videos help me out because it is IMPOSSIBLE to read every single comic in our shop, and still work, and go to school, and sleep. Thanks so much for making my life easier, making me better at my job, and for supporting the comic industry!! I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing a video or 2 on some of the newer black label books, like WW Historia, or Catwoman Lonely City? I really really enjoyed them, and you might too, and I think a video discussing them and other Black Label books like them would be super cool :) Thanks again for all you do for comic book fans!
I adore CoIE and think that it still holds up by today's standards. The Arrowverse version was also spectacular and it's clear that it was handled with great love and care.
The idea of a super-vilain whose schtick is that they collect informations on the heroes to sell them to other vilains is actually pretty clever. they should have told him to do something with that idea specifically.
Greatest comic book event ever. Real stakes, great art and characterization, dope resolution (within the story). Honorable mention to Hickman’s Marvel run from FF to Secret Wars.
Fun Fact 1: The way Kara died was crafted to finally answer the question on who was more powerful, Superman or Supergirl. And the answer was that Kara was more powerful. Fact 2: Kara didn’t die. In an in canon Christmas Special, Deadman is confronted by a blonde woman who can see him. She tells him that they (heroes) don’t save people for the glory, it’s because it’s the right thing to do. He asks her name, and she says it’s Kara, but that wouldn’t mean much to him. Apparently there was an entire fight about this in DC editorial. But, Kara did live. Just forgotten.
I grew up with the annual Crisis storylines, and loved this when it was coming out. Then I realized what it meant for books I had been enjoying and they became utterly unreadable. Change happens, but I saw absolutely no reason to destroy the multiverse then and still none now.
Correction: Earth-Two Wonder Woman survived and was given the privilege of staying on Olympus for eternity with her Steve Trevor. The one that died was Earth-One Wonder Woman whose body went back in time, reverting back into clay and spreading throughout Themyscira with the implication that it was the Earth-One's clay body that George Perez' Wonder Woman was eventually made from. This was revealed in the epilogue of Crisis on Infinite Earths #12.

Ah yes, _Crisis on Infinite Earths_ truly has a long legacy. And it led to such books as _Heroes in-_ *Gets stomped to death by people wanting to avoid comment firestorms*
I actually really like that Darkseid sat on his ass watching the entire multiverse battle the Anti-Monitor and tried to killsteal the shit out of them so he could lord it over everyone later.
I read this for the 1st time 20-30 years after it was published, and I still think it's one of the few reboot events in comics that is good and earned. Not only is it written well and actually has real stakes and actual consequences (before half of those were then retconned), but it's the only one that wasn't made to compensate for bad decisions and used as a proverbial get out of jail free card. As the convoluted continuity of the DC universe at that point was a result of the birth of the super hero comic industry and with writers who could have never known what it would turn into. And no reason for audiences to be paying attention or even a way to keep up with everything. Half of their history was just to sell each issue at the time to random people. It wasn't bad planning, it was just the nature of the industry then. So this made sense to fix everything up and felt like it was inspired by passion to streamline and improve the status quo rather than exploitative. Since then publishers had the ability for forethought to not put themselves back in this predicament and knew readers were paying attention, but couldn't help themselves and added so much unnecessary trash to the timeline. Especially interesting learning they were against the idea in this one to have things that can be retconned, when now it just feels like everything is written knowing it can be undone later. I stopped reading Superhero comics because of these universe events, as they would always punish my dedication to specific storylines or writers by forcing a marketable huge status quo change seemingly constantly; but also not ever having lasting consequences.
21:00 I think it would’ve been a good idea if the Hawkman and Hawkgirl of earth-2 had their histories erased and were then “put on the bus” indefinetly the same way the Superman and Huntress of earth-2 were scrubbed from continuity.
17:10 It was the Earth-One Wonder Woman who was killed by the Anti-Monitor, not the Earth-Two Wonder Woman, who was transported to Mount Olympus with her Steve Trevor to spend their lives with each other.
@@ComicDrakeI not trying to disrespect you (and I hope you don’t take it the wrong way about this because I’m being factual), but in the final issue of COIE, the Earth-One Wonder Woman (noticed her costume and/or hair) was blasted by the Anti-Monitor, causing her to be sent back in time and revert to clay, while the Earth-Two Wonder Woman (notice her white/gray streak of hair) got a happy ending by going to Mount Olympus with her Steve Trevor.
@@joshuaingobo1559 Earth-Two's Wonder Woman became the clay from which New Earth Wonder Woman was formed with Zeus bringing her soul to Olympus. Plus in the Alex Ross covers, Earth-Two Superman holds his Wonder Woman opposite Earth-One Superman and his Supergirl in the same pose.
@@ComicDrake Sorry, but you're wrong. Zeus brought Earth-2's Wonder Woman to Olympus to live out her days. It's one of the last pages of the story. Earth-1 WW was reverted to clay.
Yeah, hate to pile on but it was indeed earth 1 Wonder Woman who bit it. It was what cleared the way for the Perez reboot and why post crisis Wonder Woman came along way after Byrne’s Superman Reboot and Miller’s Year One Batman story wise. She was literally returned to the clay of Paradise Island for her story to begin again. It’s why she’s not a founding member of the Justice League Post Crisis. I’m old, so I read this thing as it happened off the spinner rack. 😊
Damn! I remember as a kid seeing The Monitor in random DC books. I was intrigued at the time and this all happened when Superfriends was still on Saturday Mornings. I wouldn’t read Crisis until years later.
Poor Huntress survives her Earth being destroyed, only to be ignominiously killed off-screen. And I agree great comic but about a couple of issues to long, I don't really think they needed to destroy the multiverse either just streamline things a little
It's a damn shame DC's movie universe never took off the way it should've. In some alternate timeline, DC could've been building up to a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie and everyone would've been hyped for it
Loved COIE at the time, but was saddened that the aftermath meant an end to Earth-2 comics that I loved, All-Star Squadron and Infinity, Inc. If continuity was such a huge morass to stay on top of, there was an easy enough solution within the multiverse as it existed. Every 10 years or 20 years, just start everything anew on a new Earth.
One of the top 3 best comics EVER written!! The other two being Kingdom Come, and The Infinity Gauntlet. I was REALLY shocked when I read about Supergirl dying, but I had NO IDEA that they were going to kill off the Flash, I was like WTF!?!?!? But I like how they handled the fact that Wally West took up the mantel and became the fastest speedster in the DC universe.
As someone who got into comics around the time to Rebirth, I loce Crisis as a story, but not its long-term impact. In the long run, the continuity it intended to streamline only got more convoluted. And we now live in era where it seems like there’s always some major crossover happening. I just want to settle in without the status quo being reshuffled, every six months or a year, and having to decide if I’m going to pay extra to follow event
20:55 Does Zero Hour have something to do with the Legion being mishandled? I know that for most of DC it was a soft reboot but apparently for all the future stuff (barring some exceptions like one or two of the Reverse-Flashes and Booster Gold), it was a hard reboot.
When Superman was rebooted in John Byrne’s “Man of Steel”, it was established that he was never Superboy. And since Superboy was a big part of Legion history at that time, it caused problems. The story “The Greatest Hero of Them All” tried to fix it by establishing the Superboy that the Legion teamed up with was from a “pocket dimension”. Those stories came out years before Zero Hour.
growing up in the UK I could only really get some US comics ocasionally in shops , Then after a move I found an actual comic shop, all titles and stacks of back issues, with limited money I was trying to find somthing worthwhile, then I spotted these comics in the DC back issue section that featured multiple characters on the covers & so I was introduced to Crisis on Infinate Earths and as the saying goes nothing was the same again.
One of my favorite videos you’ve done. The cutaway gags and the bit of acting out the anti-sjw dudebros were funny. Thanks for the video Drawke! Sharing it with my comic nerd friends
I think though he was unfair. There are good reasons why fans today dislike the gender/race swapping and the reasons are usually terrible. The female Wildcat didn't exactly last so long that the original replaced her soon enough. Suggesting fan reactions to her replacing the original were broadly the same feelings as today. Same when it happened with Ben Reilly in the clone saga, Az-Bats in Knightfall saga, USagent for Captain America and so on.
I’m reading through crisis right now and I was shocked at how slow first few issues were. Basically the first 1/3 of the book is everyone guarding monitors’ giant mechanical towers. It’s basically the first issue of 2015 secret wars but 3 or 4 times over
Correction: Earth-One Wonder Woman was killed by the Ant-Monitor, not Earth-Two.
What a terrible supervillain, a guy who just watches ants.
Technically she didn't die she was turned back into Clay while earth two Wonderwoman entered Olympus with Steve Trevor.
NOOO DAMN YOU ANT-MONITOR
I like to imagine that the condition of Psycho-Pirate in this series is inspired by what Peter Sanderson would be like after reading every DC Comic.
DC’s mentality with reboots is “we want to restart everything while keeping some things from the old canon.” Which causes confusion.
@@L1701 Then they just end doing what caused them to reboot in the first place. It hurts at this point to keep seeing it.
@@emperormegaman3856
Exactly, this is what I have to do constantly whenever I try to get my friends to get into DC, it's frustrating.
Far from making things more simple, it actually does the opposite, it makes it way more complicated and threatening to newcomers.
Say what you want about Marvel's floating timeline shenanigans, but I'd take all the wacky stuff that comes from that over the constant resets DC insist on doing.
@@L1701 does that mean they want to.... have their cake and eat it?
George Perez’s hands must have been in agony after drawing all those Crisis characters. Still miss his art :(
He seemed to really love drawing those epic crowd shots.
Truly the craziest move at the time that issue came out!
And be forced to watch the edgy 90s. That's rough.
@@juliusbossman7280 golden age Superman loved the hardcore stuff #OppositesAttract 😀
I feel like this is one of those stories that even people with a passive interest in comics know just a little bit about but not anywhere close to the whole story
Why? I didnt know any of it.
I am so excited for all of the possible comic events Drake has yet to cover.
Too bad. The anti-@luigiboi4244 is coming to destroy them all before he has a chance!
@@fredbaker2785 yes, which lasted those issues. Even if the universe was rebooted to Pre-Crisis, the writing isn’t the same.
@fredbaker2785 You don't get it then. The writing is completely different as a result of publishers closing up shop and DC buying up all the ips. When those universes die in COIE they are gone for good. And as it stands there is no bringing them back.
@@calumhouston3308 yes, and there is nothing wrong in mourning them.
Honestly I love the Bronze Age of comics it was in my opinion the most consistent and greatest era but nonetheless this event is still at a scale thats never been surpassed or met since
This is probably one of the best dc universe storylines no doubt
Agreed!
It’s probably the most iconic
I'd say it's iconic, but it's definitely not one of the best imho
If you haven't gotten the novel, I would highly recommend it's so great. I lost my copy when my first wife and I broke up. I think she took it, but she loved it too, so if it's has a good home I'm ok
For its time - yes, no - not really
The cameos from other comic creator’s throughout the videos were a great touch. Hearing Troy and panda specifically was a huge shock to me.
And considering this video is talking about a crisis crossover it makes sense for them to be here
Happy for the nod to Arrowverse's take on COIE. Great vid!
Although I did Think Kevin Conroys Conroys cameo was a bit dissapointing but I'm still grateful and happy we got it
COIE was the first DC Comics event I read. Being fairly new to comics, I just assumed it would be a year-long JLA/JSA team up. I saw the ads...
"Worlds will live! Worlds will die!"
I scoffed. I thought..
This is DC! Nobody is gonna die!
Then, I bought the first issue...
Earth 3 was wiped out!
I thought ... "Oh, CRAP!"
I never missed an issue!
I loved it!
I forgot how much the Anti-Monitor came back in this story.
He really pulled more William Aftons than William Afton himself. (If you know you know)
Felt like he took “I always come back” to another level in just one story 😆
“But then THE ANTI-MONITOR RISES AGAIN!!!!”
Rip comicstorian
Still makes more sense than the stuff at DC Studios right now
"Wait, he isn't dead, Shia surprise" took me a moment but I have been rolling ever since. Time to go rewatch
19:35 I would prefer all of the DC heroes retaining their memories of everything pre-Crisis since the first Crisis in 1985. That way, they would recall their entire pre-Crisis history and would be told by others what changes happened since the first Crisis.
Something about "Martian Manhunter's about to die, dude!" line really got me.
19:29
You know that quote makes me wonder if sometimes it's okay when the characters loose their memories, the event gets changed because time travel, and etc. Considering that only us the readers will forever cherish and remember such events.
Crisis on Infinite Earths was my big start into DC comics and I loved it from the first issue I read! It's been a wild ride since then!
Words can't express how excited I am at the idea of you covering Blackest Night! (even if it means having to also cover Brightest Day).
That's what happened in a number of alternate versions of The Post -Crisis Earth -Sigma or New Earth
Super girls death is the most iconic but the flash’s death still rocks me to my core
13:15
that is the most chad writing decision ive ever heard. "we wrote it this way so nobody could fuck it up later"
They still revived Barry later lol

I really really enjoyed them, and you might too, and I think a video discussing them and other Black Label books like them would be super cool :)

I adore CoIE and think that it still holds up by today's standards.
The Arrowverse version was also spectacular and it's clear that it was handled with great love and care.
Comic drake makes me want a psycho pirate nostalgia critic show.
Anti-monitor's power is plot armor.
The idea of a super-vilain whose schtick is that they collect informations on the heroes to sell them to other vilains is actually pretty clever. they should have told him to do something with that idea specifically.

21:50 and of course there is the best COIE sequel, Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination.
Greatest comic book event ever. Real stakes, great art and characterization, dope resolution (within the story).
Honorable mention to Hickman’s Marvel run from FF to Secret Wars.
The idea of giving a comic character retirement is a weird yet very wholesome idea.
This is my favorite crisis crossover, and the first comic I remember reading.
Thank God someone FINALLY covered crisis on infinite earths !
Ain't no party like a DC party, cause a DC party don't stop... it just reboots every couple of years and starts over.

Well yeah, Heroes in Crisis is not a Crisis event. It just has a similar name.

Great to hear someone pronounce George Perez' name properly.
Just a small nickpick in the Pre-Crisis DC universe Superman was the older cousin. That Supergirl was older thing didn't start until 2004.
I actually really like that Darkseid sat on his ass watching the entire multiverse battle the Anti-Monitor and tried to killsteal the shit out of them so he could lord it over everyone later.
Imagine a new crisis called Infinite Crisis on Limited Earths.
_And now, every big event in DC tends to go by either Crisis or Knight......_
21:00 I think it would’ve been a good idea if the Hawkman and Hawkgirl of earth-2 had their histories erased and were then “put on the bus” indefinetly the same way the Superman and Huntress of earth-2 were scrubbed from continuity.
Or they could have just kept the Hawks of the JSA Carter and Shiera Hall and the JLA Hawks being Katar and Shayera Hol. Have them be separate.
@@Superlad945Got a source for that?
Cool video and cool haircut. Cant wait for your take on infinite crisis!
17:10 It was the Earth-One Wonder Woman who was killed by the Anti-Monitor, not the Earth-Two Wonder Woman, who was transported to Mount Olympus with her Steve Trevor to spend their lives with each other.
False. It was Earth-Two.
Finally! Someone breaks down DC’s Crises on Infinite Earths I’m a way that I understand. Super comprehensive and concise at the same time! Thank you!
And I agree great comic but about a couple of issues to long, I don't really think they needed to destroy the multiverse either just streamline things a little
Yeah 😢 Helena Wayne is my girlfriend's favorite superhero.
All the Crisis events are gonna be videos in the future? Hell yes to that. 👍
Crisis on infinite earths is really awesome story and personally for me a great classic book in my book.
14:46 Bat-Gyver
Not to be confused with Bat-Guyver which is also an amalgam that doesn't exist and probably never will.
I need to read this again, I have been gearing up to read the tales of the Titans stuff. And I think this will be a good starting point
You're a great storyteller, Sir ~ Thank you 😌
9:24 For a split second I was like "There's a superhero named Japanese Woman!?"
@ComicDrake_ And what is that?
Kara's sacrifice is one of her hardest moments ever
As someone who got into comics around the time to Rebirth, I loce Crisis as a story, but not its long-term impact. In the long run, the continuity it intended to streamline only got more convoluted. And we now live in era where it seems like there’s always some major crossover happening. I just want to settle in without the status quo being reshuffled, every six months or a year, and having to decide if I’m going to pay extra to follow event
Psycho-Pirate remembers everything so you don't have to, huh? Loved that series x)
11:42 I love how dc originally chose none of the above before scribbling their answer and deciding “yes you can kill her”
20:55 Does Zero Hour have something to do with the Legion being mishandled? I know that for most of DC it was a soft reboot but apparently for all the future stuff (barring some exceptions like one or two of the Reverse-Flashes and Booster Gold), it was a hard reboot.
Yeah the Legion got screwed over in that. It wiped away so many years of canon. And then it would also be wiped away.
Thanks for making this vid! I’ve been wanting to pick up my copy of Crisis and finally read through it. This has given me the incentive to do so.
Great video. Love to see a video by you doing a deeper dive into Superboy prime's history.
Wow, I just got recommended this video and the video released in the same day I finished reading crisis I think.
Coincidence, I think not!
I loved the Crisis series and your synopsis was great. Very interesting.
Unless there was a retcon that I missed, Harbinger was influenced by a shadow demon to kill the Monitor. It wasn’t Psycho-Pirate.
He probably made a mistake on that part
THIS IS MY ONE OF MY FAVORITE COMICS!
growing up in the UK I could only really get some US comics ocasionally in shops , Then after a move I found an actual comic shop, all titles and stacks of back issues, with limited money I was trying to find somthing worthwhile, then I spotted these comics in the DC back issue section that featured multiple characters on the covers & so I was introduced to Crisis on Infinate Earths and as the saying goes nothing was the same again.
love the Shia surprise, gotta go watch that video again now 😂
One of my favorite videos you’ve done. The cutaway gags and the bit of acting out the anti-sjw dudebros were funny. Thanks for the video Drawke! Sharing it with my comic nerd friends
So what part of the video is the dudebro bit you speak of?

I think though he was unfair. There are good reasons why fans today dislike the gender/race swapping and the reasons are usually terrible.
The female Wildcat didn't exactly last so long that the original replaced her soon enough. Suggesting fan reactions to her replacing the original were broadly the same feelings as today. Same when it happened with Ben Reilly in the clone saga, Az-Bats in Knightfall saga, USagent for Captain America and so on.
In the past week I've watched the most fine tuned dc/marvel comic content than I have in forever
18:01 Because HE IS THE GOLDEN AGE SUPERMAN (PUNCH)!!!!!!!
I can’t wait for infinite crisis and final crisis in this playlist. I wish you would do the countdowns too. Those are bananas.
honestly the idea of the new Dr light being Uber powerful women from japan is really cool are there any Kimiyo Hoshi comics you recommend
So that explains why in season 4 of Batman the animated series the skies were red.
This is one of my favorite DC Crossover.
Hearing Mr Creepypasta in this video is a wonderful surprise. I'm kinda shocked y'all would collab even for just reading quotes
Did not expect a Mr. Creepypasta Cameo, but I’m down for it
If Drake is going to cover every individual Crisis, he's going to be busy for awhile
“… with a paper clip and a bar of soap… “ 🧐🤓😏🤣
I’m reading through crisis right now and I was shocked at how slow first few issues were. Basically the first 1/3 of the book is everyone guarding monitors’ giant mechanical towers. It’s basically the first issue of 2015 secret wars but 3 or 4 times over
Love these videos breaking down the multiple “Crisis’!” Keep it up 🙏
excited to see your video on infinite crisis, it was the first major DC event i read when i was getting back into the comics in the 2000s
I know OSP touched on this in their multiverse detail diatribe but I’m glad to learn about it in more depth and detail. So thanks!
"It was specifically struck down so that a lazy writer couldn't just give [Barry] his speed back." OH THE IRONY!
When I saw the title, my immediate reaction was "AGAIN?!!"
21:59 Agreed. Dark Crisis is a better title than Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths because it sounds cool.
you should do infinite crisis after this
