Lord Death Man would be a perfect addition to the Suicide Squad, even in a new movie, and having him be a running gag of dying but always coming back and then immediately dying again would have a lot of potential
Brilliant!
@@ComicDrake Man Waller would have no way to insure Lord Death Man would just leave because the bomb trick won't work, but LDM will just stay for Harley.
@@AnnHiroCh she could always just threaten Harley if he doesn't obey her
LDM calls amanda waller out on some bullshit and walks off the mission and waller detonates the bomb collar and as his head goes flying he just keeps walking away
he'd be the only volunteer since Waller can't just kill him
I'm shocked Lord Death Man isn't one of Red Hood's rogues. Can't break the no killing rule if the guy you're dealing with is immortal.
That would be convenient as hell but I also would love to see that cause I expect Jason would get fed up and keep going bigger and bigger to try to kill him
I think a very entertaining comic could come out of deathstroke being sent to kill the unkillable target
*writing that down*
Shit that is a good idea
I love that it was used as a convenient excuse for Batman to do to Lord Death Man what he refuses to do normally. He can’t die so let’s throw him from a building, run him over and stuff him in an airtight box and throw him into space.
How did the writers imagine Lord Death Man’s voice after the New 52? Because I don’t think there’s any other way to imagine Lord Death Man’s voice other than Skeletor’s voice
If the guy has an over-the-top design and a skull head, the only voice you should be hearing is skeletor!
@@evanlight2550 I hear a toned down version of Skeletor for Papyrus’s dialogue in Undertale, it literally is the only option for over-the-top skull-headed characters
I actually always read him with a very deep voice, fitting for a japanese supervillain.

You got this larry. You are both a master of yoga and disguise
I can name every single Pokemon and thier evolutions
I cant believe there hasn’t been a scene where lord death man has pretended to be dead after being attacked by batman and batman just freaking out thinking he actually killed him
Why can I imagine this in an Arkham style game?
Shout-out to Batman: The Brave and the Bold for being possibly the only time Lord Death Man was adapted outside of comics or manga.
yeah sucks he hasn't been adapted yet in anything out of comics surprised he didnt get adpated in the gotham series that was on fox i weirdly feel like he would have actually fit really well there with how weird that show got
Wait which season and episode
@@DALEKCHANNELYT it was the episode Batmite Presents: Batman’s strangest capers
That's probably where I first heard of him, along with Ambush Bug.
I swear that show did EVERYTHING, lol.
Lord Death Man actually has a ton of potential to be a top tier batman villain, honestly you just need a cool design and gimmick and you're pretty much set
Also Batman has an excuse to do things he wouldn’t normally do because he won’t die from it anyways.
Pretty much all of his top rogues gallery were originally just gimmicks that became popular. Joker was just a criminal that used primarily gag weapons, killer croc is literally just a crocodile man, bane is just a villain who is also a drug addict, two face is just a guy with chemical burns , the riddler yelled riddles at you and mr.freeze just used ice weapons. I’m pretty sure the only one who came in as a serious threat was Bane.
Honestly? I think a really fun idea would be to have Lord Death Man take over the Joker's operations after a comic run where the Joker dies again, which has the potential for some amazing scenes with the clowns dressed up as skeletons like in his original run. And it's set up perfectly so that when the Joker inevitably comes back, we can get this wonderful scene of the Joker trying everything in his power to kill him, including smilex'ing him, to no effect cause his head's a fucking skeleton, can't laugh himself to death like that! So now Joker has another hateboner rival and it cements LDM's place in Batman's rogue's gallery forever, partly because the joker would prioritize LDM over Batman at times because he pisses him off so much xD
@@Broomer52, more like an excuse for the writers to explore how Batman approaches otherwise-deadly tactics. Guy's dedicated to non-lethality, so what's his psyche going into putting down LDM as close as possible? How does he adapt his resources for that task? Does this rattle him, those around him, or the people of Gotham who rely on him?
And a better name
Lord Death Man is the epitome of “too stubborn to die”, which I believe makes him a great supervillain. Because he knows he’s unkillable he does the extreme shit his does because he knows that there’s no consequences for his actions. Yeah you can kill him, but it never sticks. I like to imagine that the first time that he died he just annoyed Death so much that he refused to collect his soul and sent him back, and just does it every time he dies just so he doesn’t have to deal with him.
Would love to see him be another aspect of Death

The man is every old school hammy super villain from Japan brought to life. Mustache twirling, super exaggerated personality and some of the most incredible lines. The fact he orchestrated a death room from Tentacle Hentai perfectly illustrates who this man is.
I mean it sure wasn't written by an AI
I think the fact that he can give facial expressions with a skull for a head, makes him a million times scarier.
Those lord death man quotes cemented him as the greatest character to ever exist in every medium
Even funnier if he'd correctly said the sound effect of his size 12 boot as "ga-LOSH!" instead of "gah-loosh!" Cause galoshes are a kind of boot, y'know?
He knows all 1008 Pokemon.
Impressive.
@@pixellord2370 I mean when you can't die you have a lot of time to learn things.
I'd kinda have a morbid idea... what if Batman kept LDM around so that's his murder anger punching bag outlet? Like after years of suppressing all the murderous rage he can have against rhe criminals he just kinda takes it out on LDM as therapy, cause it's fine he'll always come back.
To be fair that is effectively his current story purpose. I think I understand sneider fans now. I never thought I’d laugh Watching the most morally staunch and unflinching character throw a otherwise normal human being out of a skyscraper and into an oncoming semi-truck.
Or what if LDM's constant appearances make Batman lose discipline slightly and put a mortal actually close to death? Like 50/50 chance they'd live or die and Batman has to contemplate this.
It'd prolly have to fit earlier Batman continuity; I doubt his discipline can be uprooted as easily nowadays.
That. ..would not be healthy and probably just makes batman's murderous tendencies just worse if he did have them....would be a cool alt universe Batman story tho
TOO MUCH ANGST!!!
This character is wild. I think comics need more characters like LDM in certain titles. Can you imagine how much fun the creative teams would have???
Yeah, not all villains need to be serious
@@pedrocesarsakihara1853 agreed
How is he wild? His power is not special literally almost every comic character is immortal at this point
It think it would be hilarious if it's revealed LDM gets a DBZ-like zenkai boost every time someone tries to kill him. He's just casually wildly powerful and out there.
Just to be clear, they may have cannonically moved Gotham City to NJ in the modern DC universe, but that was not always the case. Early Batman stories practically call Gotham New York City, with New York landmarks and icons having direct parallels in Gotham. I would say that in 1966 when Death Man made his debut, Gotham was still squarely situated in Manhattan.
It gets me so mad whenever this part of Gotham is forgotten! New Yorks nickname is literally Gotham
Gotham has been said to be in NJ since the 70s. It's been in NJ longer than any other location.
I’ve always used Metro City rules from Street Fighter. It’s basically in the same universe as New York, so it’s just across the river from it so you can have roughly the same landmarks.
Lord Death Man is the funniest comic character I've ever seen. I say the more over-the-top the better, it helps that his Skeletor-esque design makes him inherently funny.
He’s basically Skeletor a hammy villain that’s nonetheless a threat and his head is a skull and he’s (kind of) magical.
NYEH!
And now you've introduced me to my new favorite Batman villain. An immortal dork with a skull head that can't die and wants nothing more than to be a supervillain sounds like the PERFECT set up for his own series. Give him a Skeletor voice and a deadpan snarky ally who just calls him Larry and you've got something.
Not Drakes fault but DO NOT buy anything from established titles! Its a company in Hong Kong, you don't own anything, can't legally call yourself lord/lady, and they don't "plant a tree for every plot of land sold" your paying for literally ONLY a piece of paper.
They do get the tree planted (through another company and not in the "conservation" area), but it's 1 dollar per tree so you'd be better off just donating to the tree planting company. Also if you pay the lowest price (50 bucks) you don't even get the piece of paper, you get a virtual version of it. Getting the paper costs another 30 bucks and framing it another 20. And an extra 8 dollar monthly charge is included by default unless you uncheck it in your cart before finishing the transaction. The monthly charge is for 1 more tree planted every month.
Yeah it's a scam. A big one.
@@WildBluntHickok they definitely don't actually plant a tree and the actual line is that "they work with" a company who plants trees supposedly, how much they actually give that company I don't know off top the of my head but they certainly don't say and use vague language everywhere possible.
The guy who spred all this gave no proof, plus it's pritty clear that it's similar to a name a star gift. On top of that the charity's established titles work with are well known and trusted. Finally, wtf dose the owner having family in Hong Kong have to do with any thing.
So it's NFTs..
Yeah now we are beating the crap out of them it’s really sad that we just got scam legit I don’t know why we just got scam with our own money
If anyone deserves to have faked Moon Knight panels as canon lines and have it make sense, it's going to be the guy who has experienced the trauma of death over and over again in the solitary confinement of a safe launched into the vacuum of outer space.
Don't forget that he memorized the names of every Pokémon.
AND their evolved forms!
And just like that, Lord Death Man is my new favorite Batman villain.

@@kenshirolucario2836 Kenny Lauderdale makes some good quality videos
As somebody who considers the Jiro Kuwata Batman manga to be one of their favorite iterations of the character, this video was really a delight to watch. I had no idea LDM's had such a revival, for lack of a better term, in modern comics!
One slight correction though, Lord Death Man was not the first villain that appeared in Kuwata's series. Modern reprints of the Batman manga are collected out of their original publication order, with the LDM storyline usually listed first despite it happening halfway through the series' initial run in Shonen King. The story arcs though are mostly self-contained so it doesn't matter what order they're read in more often than not.
One of the reasons Lord Deathman was chosen as the first villian in the Manga adaptation is that he bares a nonsignificant to an already popular Japanese character at the time, Golden bat. In the same year that Deathman first appeared, there was a live action movie based on Goldenbat as well as the first Goldenbat anime being released in the following year in 1967. Interestinl enough, he first appeared in 1930s as a paper theater character, predatting both Superman and Batman and is often refered to as "the first modern superhero"
there is old unreleased Superman comic from 1933, which predates golden bat. So he isn't really a first modern superhero.

Oof the Established Titles sponsorship is at the worst time 🤣 Excellent video as always Drake
His now deleted community post seemed to imply that the sponsorship was taken before the recent drama. Contracts are a bitch
A Comic Drake/Panda Redd Crossover is the team up we needed and deserved.
Bat-Manga came out in the 60s, Shotaro Ishinomori's Skull Man came out in 1970 (and would lead to the creation of Kamen Rider, which lead to the creation of Super Sentai, which lead to the creation of Power Rangers and toku Spider-Man)
I don't think this is a coincidence.
I refuse to believe his full name isn't Larry Deathman
who's also japanese for some reason
Sir Larry 'Lord' Deathman... Esquire...
Glad we still got a little bit of Panda's LDM voice! Also, "Not the guy. Stop asking." is a great lower third!
0:53 I love the fact that the guy with the Tommy Gun in the background of that cover looks like he's saying, "We're in the middle of a tense situation here, and Batman's posing for a _photo op?!?"_ lol
If they ever do another "Superman and Spiderman"-style crossover between DC and Marvel (which I know will probably never happen these days...) they should definitely have an issue where Deadpool is hired to kill Lord Deathman. And despite Drake's misgivings, I think it should be full-on crazy LDM, just to compete. Yeah, it's not going to please those who are reading for intricate storytelling and high concept art, but it'll be a riot for anyone who enjoys the slapstick funny-books and can be the fan-service face-off moment in an otherwise more serious and gritty limited run - sort of like DP being involved in "Civil War" where there was an actual serious event going on but there was this little corner of it all with the wacky antics as a comedy break.
Also, it'll just be fun to see how they resolve it.
@@kdisley Since DP and LDM would be unable to kill each other, I can only imagine that the issue would end with an anticlimax, and/or a dialogue between the two about the nature of suffering and how being immortal gives a broader perspective on the human condition, and thus their mutual disregard for collateral casualties.
@@OddmanoutreOr it turns out the way Lord Deathman got his powers was also by being in love with death, only she was the one to cast him out for not being able to handle him.

13:47: I like the fact that Drake is sitting on the throne reading an indie comic while Panda Redd is talking about Lord Death Mam.
Lord Death Man in the Robin series has been a very good edition and Flatline I think was a fun sidekick for him.
I think I love this villain.
The only thing about him I would want to experiment with in character writing is to make him more and more extreme. Not in a Deadpool kind of way, I think I would make him ironically funny with a good comedic presence (Maybe in like a Deadpool and Cable dynamic, where he would be mostly serious all the time, but funny things happen to him while he stays deadpan serious; not where he goes out and looses his demeanor as he dies or gets hurt, but where he stays serious, but something funny happens to him sort of way... maybe like a less bombastic parody of Dr. Doom)... but make him more extreme as every time he comes back his threat level and insanity kind of rises to the point where now he's the wild card at the worst time. Make him do something insane like potentially Kill Darkseid for some period of time and rule Apocalypse (Because he comes to the understanding that Darkseid is just a Mob boss from the New Gods).
I'd also want to make him a Plasticman villain, a lot of Plasticman's rogue gallery are silly or parody based. For Plastic Man, I think he could be fun if you make him kind of like the MCU Antman, mixed with Deadpool, maybe a bit Booster Gold as well, but give him a title like "The Man Who doesn't Break", while you can have Death Man get a cool title as "The Unbreakable Man". (Kind of describing Plastic Man that can be twisted, contorted, chewed up, melted, stretched, spit out and still be fine, while Death Man is described as being able to be chopped up, torn apart, dismembered, decapitated, burned, and blown into pieces and still be fine (So a bit of changes to both of their powers). Plastic Man would kind of be a "Rehabilitated" Criminal, someone who was originally a goon, but worked themselves into being a one time Batman Rogue's gallery villain, but captured, put in Arkham, and then got out for "good" behavior much like some other Batman Rogues getting out of Arkham, maybe played for comedy or laughs, but also organized intentionally by Hugo Strange. Still being like a criminal he would plan to commit a crime, but on the day he executes his plan, another crime is already taking place and Batman is in a Pinch, but because of Plasticman's strange sense of honor and little heart of Gold, he can't leave batman to die and helps Batman take down the criminal, leading Plasticman to a Justice League invitation. From there on, Plasticman would be a conniving conman of a character that somehow fails upward, with the desire to be the greatest underground boss.
I think he could even convince an old friend to becoming his fake nemesis to give him a arch rival and rogue gallery villain that he can foil over and over again to look good with the league under the guise of "Dr. Dome" that he uses to con them over and over. It can work, making them both fail upward until now Dr. Dome is a big enough name where now he gets targeted by the mysterious Lord Death Man, and now Plastic Man has to actually be serious for once and rescue his friend before he gets killed, risking everything from his position in the league, to everything he's ever accumulated as this Lord Death Man in contrary is the kind of guy that works really hard to earn his way to the top. Not through cheap schemes to get himself there in the simplest way possible, but through brutality, hard work, and meticulous plots, almost in hopes of out working his sometimes bad luck. Thinking about it, I guess their dynamic would be like Homer Simpson and Frank Grimes from that classic episode, just no friendship or comradery outside of slowly realizing they are becoming each other's arch rival.
