Actually, Will Evans was mainly introduced so they could bring back Deadshot's backstory from the older universe. In the New 52, they created a new backstory for Deadshot where his family were killed by bullets that passed through the walls of their house because of some nearby violence and this is what inspired Floyd Lawton to never waste a bullet. Later they wanted to retcon this, but they actually did it in a pretty clever way by revealing that it was actually Will's backstory and that he told Floyd it while they were both in prison. Floyd then adopted the backstory as part of his mystique, since he didn't want to reveal too much about his actual history and family.

Speaking of Savant, I had someone tell me and oversell how important he was. Like going in about how he's so smart and clever, a popular Birds of Prey character, and is prominently known for being gay, so Gunn wouldn't kill him off in the first wave... I had to tell him, that using your common sense will tell you he's not that important for the movie, and that he won't deactivate the bomb in his head, or get help from his boyfriend, who we've never met, so he can join the Batgirl movie or something. He said "Wait, and see"... Cut to now, we saw, he was not happy lol. So Savant stepping on a landmine and is barely remembered since is the cherry on top for me.

Great video Drake just wanted to say a quick correction in the New 52 Lime was the first to die by head bomb. But the first actual head bomb death was in Raise The Flag the 2007 series by John Ostrander Puma a minor villain starts a riot at Belle Reve and attempts to negotiate with Amanda Waller to be let out of the prison which she responds that he has a “small explosive device inserted into the base of his skull.” Waller then responds that her pen is the detonator and tells him to let her guards go. Puma says Waller is talking crap and everyone knows the Squad uses arm bombs and not head bombs. She then pops his head like a balloon.

I wouldn’t say Black Mask is a minor villain. More like a top tier B-lister with the potential to move to A if he ever reappears in a major live action role. He’s been a Batman staple for long enough and has steadily become more well known as time passes.
I feel the same. Mask is only B-List so far because he's new, but he's ambitious and ruthless enough that he could be a major player in a future run. As far as I know, the only reason he isn't one now is because he's so needlessly petty and cruel that he ends up shooting himself in the foot every time he has a good plan.

Huge Suicide Squad fan, so LOVED this video! Back in the 80's, when the Squad first came out, I found it seemed a very convenient way for DC to dust various one-shot minor-league villains, kinda like Marvel did with Scourge a few years earlier. Instead I found the comic gradually made a lot of the surviving villains into real fleshed-out characters, who I just absolutely fell in love with! *cough* DEADSHOT! *Cough, cough**
Random points: Shriek was actually named "Shrike"...Karma didn't have luck powers, but has the ability to mess with people subconciously so they always missed him in combat. Javelin before he was hit by the car, was impaled by one of his own javelins in that "War of The Gods" crossover with which killed Enforcer and The Writer
I love that run where Major Disaster, Killer Frost, etc. Were the "main" squaddies because they were the only survivors. And most of the plot centred around the management team behind the Suicide Squad, i think the dynamic would be great for some kind of X-com style game featuring the Squad.
"And while your down there..." 🤣🤣 I thought he was going to say something far more perverted than what he said 🤣🤣 love the videos bro! Keep 'em going I love how you break down comic related content in a way that is informative to both general comic viewers (just movies and maybe a comic or two) and people like me who are comic nerds through and through 😁
I was wondering if you would have wanted to count Waller's retconned original Task Force shown in Justice League vs Suicide Squad event (2017). It features Lobo, Emerald Empress, Johnny Sorrow, Cyclotron, and some others. I think one died at the end of the tie-in, but I'm not certain. Great video! I loved the work that went into this.
I remember hear from a friend that there was a suicide squad run where king shark only said “king shark is a shark,” only for, in his last issue to be killed with captain boomerang, he said something else
I’m confident a character named ‘Knockout’ dies in a mission Superboy went on with the squad. She died detonating an explosive belt around king sharks waist This was back when Superboy had a leather jacket and sunglasses and when Deadshot was white, so a while ago
Really loved Lime and Light and think that they should bring back Light since after she was supposedly killed, she was seen back with the team in the Resurrection Man comic that continued the crossover
Nice to see some love for the Tom Taylor 2019 series, really fun (the bit with Batman and Deadshot is SO good) and surprisingly emotional. Also, for my money Taylor writes the best Harley Quinn ever.
Not sure if anyone mentioned these deaths, but: * Karin Grace of the original suicide squad died during Millennium event * Briscoe, died with their helicopter Sheba * Javelin was impaled during War of the Gods (but i didnt know he showed up again later, thanks for that bit od info) * Modem, resident hacker of the squad also died * Havana, supposedly Amanda Waller's daughter also died * Voltaic, was killed off by Deadshot * Warrant, presumed dead * Hunky Punk, died in Suicide Squad vol.5 * Mad Dog, head blown off by Waller * Master Jailer, sacrifices himself to stop a nuke
I swear Savant did survive the land mine incident, pretty sure in like the next issue he got let out of prison after turning down an offer to become team leader
Conceptually, the suicide squad is an amazing idea. A bunch of random rogues gallery villains given the spotlight to either be killed off or gain new fame is such a cool premise.
How could you forget Master Jailer, Comic Drake? It was in the Squad/Aquaman crossover "Sink Atlantis" (he actually died in the Aquaman comic, but it was a Suicide Squad death nonetheless u.u), which, to this point, is the only actual Suicide Squad story I have read in my life, so that's why it's fresh in my mind XD. It was very similar to the death of a character in the latest film, right after doing a heroic act. Other than that, this was a great video! I can't imagine the time you spent reading 40 years worth of comics, so I really apreciate the effort!
Oh and part 2: The Squad was used to try and take down the mad god Eclipso. It was anothe bloodbath. Major Victory, Commader Steel Wildcat (Yolanda Montez), Manhunter (Mark Shaw) Dr.Midnight (Beth Chapel, the Creeper and Peacemaker (yes that Peacemaker!) all died though Creeper was resurrected pretty quickly, and Wildcat and Dr.Midnight also returned, though while they remember their deaths, I'm not sure how they returned, and Manhunter was revealed to have been actually Dumas, a shapeshifting enemy of the real Manhunter, who later died a few years later
I wonder how long it'll take for Deadshot to be brought back to life and how it'll be done... for some reason I'm thinking a clone with his memories and/or soul implanted in it.
Will you do the same with every Suicide Squad death from other media(Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad, Batman: Assault on Arkham, Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, Arrow, etc.)?

Dead shot has such a high kill count of squad members
19:17, to be fair, it was a talon. Those things are awesome
Took me almost a minute to realize the size of his mug..
And I didn't notice until I read your comment.....Its also very possible Drake is just tiny. Actually more likely.
13:53 this is f#€×ing hilarious and dark. I now have 13% more respect for captain boomerang
It’s not a death, but I thought it was hilarious when Reverse Flash blew out his knee in the New 52 Suicide Squad run 💜
Icing on the cake was Deadshot complaining to Waller for giving him a defective Flash
I love that run where Major Disaster, Killer Frost, etc. Were the "main" squaddies because they were the only survivors. And most of the plot centred around the management team behind the Suicide Squad, i think the dynamic would be great for some kind of X-com style game featuring the Squad.
“Contrary to popular belief the weasel is not a mutant animal or anything he was just a guy in a fur suit”
So you telling me they have a furry as a villain
16:23 Question: What is the gentleman ghost doing in the suicide squad, since he is already dead?
Ok, but the idea of a character that can bring their tattoos to life is such a cool superpower
Somehow a video that would make more sense is: All the characters who survived the Suicide Squad
Actually, Savant was shown to be alive and be left the Squad in issue eight of the New 52 run.
Is he still standing on that landmine?
"And while your down there..." 🤣🤣 I thought he was going to say something far more perverted than what he said 🤣🤣 love the videos bro! Keep 'em going I love how you break down comic related content in a way that is informative to both general comic viewers (just movies and maybe a comic or two) and people like me who are comic nerds through and through 😁
How has no one on the suicide squad died from suicide???
I fill my XCOM runs with villain names so I can run my own Suicide Squad. I may have taken the wrong lesson from the comic
She died detonating an explosive belt around king sharks waist
This was back when Superboy had a leather jacket and sunglasses and when Deadshot was white, so a while ago
12:35 some say the mine didn't work but Savant hasn't moved until this very day, ooh, spooky...
Keep it up on your work and this channel
Really loved Lime and Light and think that they should bring back Light since after she was supposedly killed, she was seen back with the team in the Resurrection Man comic that continued the crossover
love your channel dude, great video!
Hey Drake in the newest issue of the Suicide squad Branch was killed by Ultraman, Love your channel
That was released after I filmed the video.
@@ComicDrake oh ok
bolt wasn’t created for that issue, he’s a blue devil villain and he survived that
Nice to see some love for the Tom Taylor 2019 series, really fun (the bit with Batman and Deadshot is SO good) and surprisingly emotional. Also, for my money Taylor writes the best Harley Quinn ever.
0:01 my guy drake needed the whole pot of coffee
Savant didn´t die because of the landmine, in later issues he just appears as a member of the squad and later gets granted his freedom by waller
I'm surprised that cloning hasn't been an explanation for seemingly dead characters being brought back.
Not sure if anyone mentioned these deaths, but:
* Karin Grace of the original suicide squad died during Millennium event
* Briscoe, died with their helicopter Sheba
* Javelin was impaled during War of the Gods (but i didnt know he showed up again later, thanks for that bit od info)
* Modem, resident hacker of the squad also died
* Havana, supposedly Amanda Waller's daughter also died
* Voltaic, was killed off by Deadshot
* Warrant, presumed dead
* Hunky Punk, died in Suicide Squad vol.5
* Mad Dog, head blown off by Waller
* Master Jailer, sacrifices himself to stop a nuke
I actually know Ragdoll from 'The Batman' animated series, not the greatest villain, but he was big enough to get added to one of the TV shows.
I never realized how "comic book-y" alot of character's names sound.
I swear Savant did survive the land mine incident, pretty sure in like the next issue he got let out of prison after turning down an offer to become team leader
Sorry but I LOVE the giant cup but having a really tiny one for the forgotten comments you recapped
Conceptually, the suicide squad is an amazing idea. A bunch of random rogues gallery villains given the spotlight to either be killed off or gain new fame is such a cool premise.
Magpie's death hurt me so much
How could you forget Master Jailer, Comic Drake? It was in the Squad/Aquaman crossover "Sink Atlantis" (he actually died in the Aquaman comic, but it was a Suicide Squad death nonetheless u.u), which, to this point, is the only actual Suicide Squad story I have read in my life, so that's why it's fresh in my mind XD. It was very similar to the death of a character in the latest film, right after doing a heroic act. Other than that, this was a great video! I can't imagine the time you spent reading 40 years worth of comics, so I really apreciate the effort!
Haven’t even watched the video yet, but for this much effort I gotta comment to boost ya
Drake has a giant mug and Drake from the future has a tiny mug. Did you get mugged for your mug, Drake?
