Once again the problem with the Tomorrowverse was mostly WB's fault. Not only did they have to deal with the lack of budget that's been a problem in DC animation for more than 10 years, a bunch of new problems came up. The writers planned 20 movies for the Tomorrowverse, but WB ended up mandating only 10. And after WB merged with Discovery, more than half of WB's animation department was laid off.
If they had the 20 movie deal...really the only other ten that could be added would be Wonder Woman Flash GL/GA Teen Titans Doom Patrol Outsiders Hawkman/Atom JLA/JSA LoSH2 Vixen
I'd also add the writing. I could forgive the animation if the writing was impressive, but it wasn't. It was very bland. So mediocre. Even in this Crisis event when you'd think they'd pull out all the stops. It all just meh.
Speaking of Kevin Conroy, The DC Animated Universe might’ve been the only expansive onscreen DC universe that Warner Bros hadn’t ruined in some capacity
DC has a this fetish of killing fan favorite versions of the DC universe. It started with JL Dark Apokolypse war, then the arkham universe and now teen titans (don't really care about that one) and DCAU at least Kevin Conroy's last performance wasn't wasted as the batman he started with instead.
The DCAU that was erased WASN'T the version that we watched, since from what they said this multiverse was based on Darkseid NEVER being a threat, so since Darkseid was a threat it means that the E-12 we saw get destroyed was like E-12.4525 instead of the E-12 we watched.
@@1993digifan I actually wouldn't mind watching ALL of the Dcamu show episodes, but watching how things played out w/o Darkseid existing. Planet Apocalypse still existed, so maybe Granny Goodness took his place ?
On top of that, the fan favorites get killed in the most gruesome way possible. Martian Manhunter? Burned to death Aquaman? Ended up like Go/jo from JJK via Darkseid's omega beams Zatanna? Eaten alive Starfire? Also ended up like Go/jo Bumblebee? Impaled by debris Nightwing? Stabbed and resurrected as insane in the Lazarus pit. Beast Boy, Wally West and Jaime Reyes? Also killed with the rest of the titans All green lanterns are dead Did I missed anyone?
I don't know how to feel about them canonically killing every animated universe we grew up on. It feels like they were ripping a part of me away. Like they didn't even show the Teen Titans, just their tower.
I'd feel a lot better if it meant something. If we got to see them for more than a split second. Honestly, they should've had those versions be part of the main cast. Teen Titans interacting with Kevin Conroy's Batman, Batman: Brave and the Bold, etc. As many as they could. They could've gone out woth a bang instead of just kind of fizzling out. What a waste.
I mean, for all the liberties the movie took with the source material, that is essentially what happens to all but the lucky few universes who do merge into the prime universe at the end. I hope they at least do Infinite Crisis at some point though so we can see the characters from this movie again, I thought the movie did a good job in showing how in order to save the universe in some capacity, all of these characters had to sacrifice their consciousnesses and essentially die and be reborn. Not an easy decision at all.
Man, in the last five years, we really are witnessing a slow end of an era with DC as a whole. With the Arrowverses Crisis on Infinite Earths, the final season of Titans (in particular that one Beast Boy episode), Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, DCEU’s The Flash movie and now this (makes me wonder how Superman & Lois will end). Then James Gunn’s DCU is about to usher in a new era with movies, shows, animated material and video games. RIP to the DC Multimedia Multiverse 1952-2024
DC as a whole seems to be in a weird state. I haven't been hyped for anything DC since DC Rebirth. And animation wise, it's just hollow shell of what it was. And Gunn seems to think every single project needs to be a Superman: All Star or everything needs to be a some over the top super deep and complex deconstruction. We traded one Zack Snyder for another in Tom King since he's part of the writing group Gunn chose. This universe is gonna be a mess.
If the whole point of this was to mix it into one universe, then why not bring together the other animated universes before wiping them out. Let us see them in action one last time before wiping them out. Let us see Kevin Conroy Batman interacting with Batman: Brave and the Bold. This whole thing felt like a wasted opportunity. Now, they'll never get this chance again because Kevin Conroy is gone.
I didn't know about this because DC was busy marketing the suicide squad and Harley taking a dump in the Bat mobile more than this film concluding an animated universe
The biggest issue I had is they were so desperate they made anthology movies with no marketing and no budget. So dc threw anything at the wall and none of it stuck
This! I realized this with The Doom that came to Gotham....because wtf was that? And then the animated movies were released out of wack and without care. Doom that came was released on its day but warlord and the infinite movies were a mess. Part 1 and 2 academy out within 40 days of eachother and we had to wait 4-5 months for part 3 that was just a slap in the face and a waste of time
only thing this movie will be remembered for is Kevin's line, but man, we live in a timeline where two Batmen are gone, Adam West and Kevin Conroy, what a world
That's and DC basically telling it's fans your aren't getting any new stuff from the old animated series we made so stop asking already. Especially with 2003 teen titans
@@Magnet_Chaos I don't know. The cast of the Justice League animated series kept saying for years they wanted a full reunion movie, but WB weren't really listening to them or fans. It was nice to finally get Justice League Vs. The Fatal Five in 2019.
@@Magnet_Chaosyes but then they eventually ruin it as usual. Batman Harley Quinn film to DCAU. SS Kills the JL to Arkham-Verse. All the pointless cameos in Arrow’s COIE where older films and shows got dusted. Jason Todd in the Batman Adventures Continue comic from a while back to the DCAU. I’m not even going to list other companies but you get the point.
@@prosperotorres7965 Ok. Look. I'm not going to disagree that the screw things up But do people understand the point of Crisis in the first place? To destroy the Multiverse? So you have to show a multiverse being destroyed. And that's just and easy vehicles for cameos. And why does it matter if the older shows and movies got dusted in the Arrow Crisis if the Multiverse was reformed at the end of the crossover anyways?
To think, the Tomorrowverse fizzled out faster that the DCAMU. DCAMU's 7 year run and 16 films, compared to this set's 4 years and 10 films. This wasn't even suppose to be an ending, but WB's plans change on a dime, so it is one now, maybe now the DC films can be overwhelmingly good again like we used to say for the past 17 years now. Kevin Conroy getting probably the best final line of his career, with the role he helped give a iconic voice too. We still miss you GOAT... only negative is that Joker doesn't sound ANYTHING like Mark Hamill's Joker then or now, did they use like... a scratch voice before putting the actual performance in it?
According to WB, that line was a stand-in for testing that they accidentally left in for the releases. They apparently fixed it and sent out new copies to people who bought the movie and the streaming services. (Though the RUclips one still seems to have the bad copy on)
I can't believe Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans was able to do a better job combining different animation styles and tones of the different universes than a Crisis trilogy.
@@AndrewChin-ck9uk the series as a whole sucks, but I enjoyed the movie and the Go vs Teen Titans wasn't bad. Just left a little to be desired. I was expecting more from the original team. The humor was just jarring and didn't mesh woth the tone of the original team.
That would surely be a travesty. You can't really do an animated movie with limited budget in the style of the great Alex Ross and doing it just as a generic animation would take away so much from it. I really don't want to see Kingdom Come ruined that way.
I have been saying the same thing for years, but considering how they have just completely screwed up a couple of really good storylines by changing things for I guess their own ego sake, I really would not want them to do that to kingdom come because that is a masterpiece.
It couldnt have been our DCAU that got deleted in that cameo because of their own rules, Darkseid existed there, so like you said, it was DCAU adjacent, done for cameo and shock value.
Personally I can understand the Tomorrowverse being mid, if youre going to do Crisis youre not going to throw away a GOOD universe, so this one was a half baked one. I still think it was better than the DCAMU because it at least respected the heroes a little more than that travesty. The DCAMU was dripping with edge and pessimism especially its finisher movie. I say good riddance, let someone else cook.
Yeah supergirl was done sooo dirty, all she ever knew was loss. So when she went on suicide mission it was noble but to then completely nullify its affect within 10 min is awful writing
Honestly, many people dreamed of a crisis on infinite earths movie having different animation styles. Imagine the superfriends animation clashing with the dcau animation that'd be cool to see.
Closest we'll ever come is that still image from Batman: Brave and the Bold that had all the Batmen from different Batman shows teaming up. And I guess Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans a little. What a way to fizzle out. Such a wasted opportunity.
It's like longevity is dying. Dcau - 14 years Young Justice Universe - 10 years The Batman Universe - 4 years Dcamu - 10 years Tomorrow Universe - 5 years 😒
Small nitpick but a big thing that kept annoying me was Dick Greyson having Tim Drake's outfit and weapon. Like why does DC keep having other robins stealing Tim drip?
Maybe because Dick Grayson’s Robin costume was just a thong along with a shirt and some gloves. That would not look good on any DC animated show meant for kids. Another reason is that I think that the Tim Drake Robin Costume was sort of iconic back in the 90s and early 2000s.
@@samflood5631 Tim's suits have always been more iconic. If you want style...you ask him...afterall...he dates Amazons occasionally....he would know a thing or two...and you don't need to wonder about that boy.
It seemed a little targeted that we saw all those series get Anti-Mattered , but not My Adventures with Superman, like you said Teen Titans GO, nor the Harley Quinn show. To be fair, we also didn't see Batman the Brave and the Bold or The Batman. So only the series that informed our understanding for a lot of the DC Universe got erased. Luckily, there are enough inconsistencies to support your thesis that these are alternate versions of those series we grew up with. John Stewart doesn't even have his goatee but Hawkgirl is dressed in her JLU outfit? And the inside of the Watchtower from JLU looks like the inside of the JL Watchtower from Season 1 and 3? And Kevin's last line was so cold, I'm not even mad he has even less screen time here than he did in the CW Crisis. Because at least he went out being himself.
I was pissed about all of the erasing worlds, specially the animated series. But Kevin Conroys goodbye and Mark Hamil, made me keep quiet and respect the moment. It was worth tolerating everything else that the film was not.
If the DC Gunn films do get a couple of animated projects that correlate with it, then we should dub Gunn's universe the DC Aligned Continuity Universe.
You know what sucks about this movie version of Crisis; the Anti-Monitor. LITERALLY in the comics, Anti-Monitor is a being born of anti-energy and desire is the complete consumption of the positive reality and erase worlds... AND here, it's just an antibody because DARKSIED DIDN'T EXIST?! HUH?! HOW IS THAT A GOOD IDEA?! How sad the Arrowverse did their Anti-Monitor and even though it's dumb, we were expecting greatness from this. BUT NOPE! Even the Monitor feels pointless since his whole deal is "Maintain the multiverse" and "Deal with his evil counterpart/sibling". BUT NOPE. Worse part is how short the Tomorrowverse felt and we won't get Infinity Crisis. Just damn... what a disappointment. And at what cost?
@@greenth-mac2550 I know right? I was thinking "There's no way the DC Animation is working with DC itself with the whole Absolute Power to tie it back with it. NOW that would be retarded because it just makes Darksied more OP and this is exactly that. To think the "New 52" animation timeline cause this yarn of mistakes and nightmares to come out and end it with this. It's just sad to think the best Justice League movie is the Crisis of Two Worlds than expect something grander.
You know the movie fails when only part anyone saw was a 30 second scene with Batman and Joker. I'm glad the Tomorrowverse is gone. The only movie(s) I liked was The Long Halloween.
The tomorrowverse is an interlude. It started with Flashpoint and ended with Apokalips war. Tomorrowverse was basically a result of the fallout. A shame that they reduced crisis on infinite earth to a mere fallout. But that being said, it only sets up for another full shared verse
A perfect summation of the Crisis event and the "death" of the DCAU. The Sgt. Rock cameo fighting the dinosaurs was a nice bit of nonpowered hero nostalgia, but felt forced and cheap as there was really no place for him in he DCAU. Wished they has shown the Teen Titan Go earth slowly being destroyed it would have been so satisfying.
Back in your comment section, before you had to reupload this video, I agreed with you that it's time we have DC Animated Movies be their standalone films and not be part of a interconnected universe and I still stand by that decision.
@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 You can still have team up films. Batman and Superman had one back in the day with Public Enemies. And there is also Justice League the New Frontier.
The DCAU was great and the DCAMU was good with some issues only the Tomorrowverse was bad due to WB having an animated universe is a good idea it's just WB ruined it and standalone movies for comicbook character like DC heroes doesn't work anymore other than an origin story or one linear storyline put in a trilogy usually
@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 Not every standalone superhero movie has to be a origin story.. Anyways, I'm actually fine with team up movies, but after watching the Tomorrowverse, I'm kinda losing faith in DC animation.
The future of DC animation depends on the success of James Gunn’s universe. If Creature commandos is an instant hit WB will pour more resources into their animation department. If it’s a flop expect half-assed garbage. That being said there’s also a possibility they’ll stop creating animated elseworld projects as a whole and solely focus on Gunn’s universe.
The esconde options is what is going to happen. James gun already said that's his plan, focus on his universe and sometimes IF he likes the script, allow some Elseworld story...oh boy, this is going to suck so bad( for me, many people may end up loving it, but me, I like the many different ways to tell stories, scenarios. Hell, my top 3 batman animated movies have no correlation between each other.)
Regarding a lot of the nostalgic universes being erased. I feel like this comment from reddit may help people calm down a bit; "It literally means nothing. This is just an Elseworlds movie erasing its own version of the multiverse. It has no effect on any other property whatsoever. The only universes that ended were made up for these movies or ones that already "ended" as in there's no new content being made for them. And at the end of the day, they could make a new 03 season completely disregarding the idea this movie brings forth. It's just an Easter egg." And I agree with it, they're just easter eggs and is unlikely canon to any of these versions. And even then, as confirmed by Owlman in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths (in addressing to how certain characters come back no matter how many times they die), good ideas never die, and as such, they'll live forever. So rest easy knowing that while the Tomorrowverse may have ended the DCAU, Superfriends, Teen Titans, ETC. It will be the the latter who is remember and even revisited in the future.
(Repost) They really should stop focusing on having a shared universe and instead have more stand-alones. Because that gives writers more freedom and not having to worry about pre existing cannon
I hope it’s a separate universe from the original DCAU, because I hope to see the DCAU make a comeback someday and see some unfinished stuff get a closing and see characters like green lantern and hawkgirl as well as possibly Batman and wonder woman get together
@@Testimony201 In every media she gets f**ked. Either turning evil via red kryptonite, being brainwashed by Darkseid as one of his Furies, being Brainiac's war machine, gets beated to death Invincible style or dying like she does here and in the Snyderverse I'm honestly sick of this. Just give my girl a universe where she doesn't go through any of this (except for getting beated up since that's normal for superheroes).
The comic did the same. And then we ended up with another Multiverse a couple of years later. Like it or not the Multiverse is essentially part of the Super Hero genre's DNA. Since at least the 50s. The issue is that the general public finally got a taste of it and now companies are milking it for all it is worth and devaluing the concept.
What doesn't have a multiverse at this point? It's like the default franchises always end up in. Digimon, Pokemon, power rangers, DC, Marvel, Sonic the hedgehog, Mario, Transformers, Dragon Ball etc. I'm sure more can be named.
@@chronoblue418 Plus all those series had a Multiverse from really early on. Way before the concept became well known to the public. And comics started having a shared universe in 1940 and the concept of a Multiverse was introduced in 1953.
This universe was already mediocre to begin with. Went out the same way it started. Crisis on two earths was a way better Crisis film than the entire trilogy.
Great review man and honestly this movie was so disappointing and a complete waste of time and made no sense whatsoever in my opinion, also side note the one good thing i will give this movie credit where it's do is hearing Kevin Conroy as batman one more time and seeing him punch joker in the face one more time was such a great sendoff for his character in my opinion ten times better then that terrible Suicide Squad book that made no sense whatsoever in my opinion.
Ngl the art design of this three movies made me laugh it’s so weird looking compared to the new 52 universe movies. Those ones were way better in my opinion. Like justice league war and all.
Art style was clean. Really nice. Also, the voice acting for almost all of the justice league was damn good. Batman, Flash, and Green Lantern’s VAs were killing it.
Why do we always complain when we know is based on the comic book back in the 80s? They’re gonna continue making DC animated hero movies till the day we die. I loved the whole trilogy because I remember the comic book.
Me too, many Injustifed hate just show how toxicity can be on the fandom who the majority haven't even read the og comic, just watched on ytb resumes or talking about the impact more than the actual story.
Hopefully they don't copyrightit again. Ill say it again just cause but i dislike characters being in the background doing very little or just randomly appear just for cameos. If your gonna have multiple characters have them do something significant to the plot or make them interesting to get us to like them. JLU did it well despite it having similar issues as DCAMU but its less of an issue
Yeah but then you run to the issue that you only have 90 minutes for each movie to tell a single story. So how do you: 1. Make it feel like a grand event where multiple characters are being affected. 2. Give literally every single character a thing to do. It's essentially impossible from a narrative perspective. Some characters have to be background cameos by sheer necessity. JLU was able to do it because it was telling multiple stories with each episode.
@@Magnet_Chaos Well they could have not rushed their universe considering that was the main issue for the tomorrowverse. 1. You can Have characters who are gonna be necessary or substantial to the plot. 2. Either you add them and do something substantial or don't bother adding other characters. Look at the DCAMU they introduced character like Wonder girl, Batgirl, etc and they're just killed off just like that, why bother having them their if they're not gonna serve a purpose for the plot or become characters It's not necessarily impossible they could've edit and work their way around the story to make other characters feel useful and crisis was a 3 part movie so i still don't see how it's impossible Even from an episodic standpoint it doesn't change the fact they made the most underrated and underutilized characters feel like characters, you can take a bunch of episodes and turn it into a movie
@@Achieme Because you can't have an event that affects the whole world or universe and only have the 5 or so main characters involved. Like don't get me wrong. They wasted the characters. But the alternative is to just create a bunch of generic original characters to fill the scenes. Also the rushing was out of their control. That was Warner Bros. fault. But they could have definitely handle Crisis itself better.
@@Magnet_Chaosthey could've literally used fan favorites from their other animated shows and movies. Just team up some fun characters and send them to do stuff to stop the multiverse from collapsing. It's not Rocket science. They've done this countless times in the comics.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp That literally doesn't solve the issue at hand that it is hard to balance more than 100 characters and give them all something to do. Unlike the comic the movie actually has a limited time to tell the story. Like fine. You made a couple of teams. But what about literally everyone else? Also stopping the Multiverse from Collapsing is the exact opposite of what happens in the Crisis of Infinite Earths comic. Collapsing is what the entire story builds up to.
It's all milked beyond belief. I keep a tight DVD collection of only what is needed. As far as the Justice League is concerned, I keep Batman Animated series, Batman Beyond, Superman Animated series, Justice League and Unlimited. Then I have a DVD collection that has 18 of the best Batman animated movies, I treat those as separate missions within the universe. I treat the final episode of Justice League Unlimited like Avengers: Infinity War, the last battle and complete closure to it all. I pretend nothing takes place after that including the death of Superman, none of that ever happened in my book.
The sad part about all this is that you can't really hate or be to harsh on criticizing this movies, because if you're a true fan you can see all the dedication and the good intentions they had with the story, but we all know they were limited by budged and studio interference... I truly believe they did what they could with what they were given... you can see they took stuff from what was in plans for the Snyderverse, but they still tried to stay as close to the comics as possible... and I thought the Tomorrowverse could of been a lot better, but I'm willing to bet the ending was rushed just so James Gunn could had his clean slate for his new unified universe...
Constantine definitely messed up, imagine preventing a canon character from exiting, to the point that the universe activates a failsafe to wipe out reality
I was so confused throughout the first two films, like wtf is happening. But i get why they reboot in the end into the prime universe because, of course, its the Gunnverse
I’m so glad this is finally over, I personally did not like any of these movie from the tomorrowverse and thought the art-style was so shit and stiff, I sincerely miss the under the red hood era of animated movies😢
It was so sad to see Teen Titans 2003 universe being destroyed. At least, couldn't they bring Terra along with the rest of the superheroes on the monitor's ship to give her the task of participate in stopping the anti-monitor? It would give her the redemption and revival she deserved.
The ending of the Crisis animated movies is very disappointing because the heroes didn't won or saved their universes, they ran, escaped to a wish-reality. In the comics original miniseries the heroes go back to the beginning of Time and reboot the timeline while fighting the Antimonitor, and later they go to the Antimatter Universe to finish him. Barry, Kara and so many other in the comics didn't commit suicide to a natural disaster like animated Aquaman, they died courageously while fighting evil. People at Warner Bros. just don't get what this stories are about, they just negated 50+ years of animation to have a product to sell again.
It's not bad, Anti monitor winning a good narrative resource considering Infinity War or Dark Knight where the villains won too. Also it helps to feel the menace of the Anti monitor as an unstoppable and undefeatable villain
I've seen the movie and I thought. All the scenes that featured previous dc Tv shows were just eye candy to me Because they've kind of done the same thing with team titans go versus teen titans movie. 8:32 There was a lot of changes that didn't really make sense to me in my opinion but at the same time I understand why they attempted to make those changes. I noticed a number of inconsistencies when you put the 3 movies together. 7:58 Here is a lesson that I have learned over the years and i've learned it from a youtube channel called comics explained. "Never take anything in comics as absolute. Because anything can change at any time". And that statement was proven true because dc comics the entire multiverse in infinite crisis and the old version of the pre crisis dc multiverse returned in dark crisis. 6:27 As for those other previous dc continuities. I called it, and I did predict it. I did say all the other continuities. Were just going to play the roles of universes that either make small cameos or get destroyed. Or play smaller roles. They pretty much destroyed those Replica versions of those old continuities that were featured in the 3rd movie. Look at the Superman that came out in the old cartoon in the 40s from Max fleischer Superman cartoons. He appeared in the cw crisis on infinite earths, and despite earth f as it was called in the cw tie in comic it got destroyed. He got a small continuation comic book in recent years. Is it possible the other character can come back. The answer is yes, because they are fictional characters and the company or the writers can bring him back at any time if green lit for a project. Like Batman beyond he's got so many comic books despite Having only one show Almost getting a movie in a similar style to spider-man into the spider verse. Also Batman from Batman the animated series also appeared in the appeared in main batman comic book titles featuring different jokers across the comic multiverse. The tomorrowverse is own dc multiverse Separate from the main dc multiverse much like the mcu's version of marvel multiverse is separate from the main marvel multiverse. 7:39 At the very end of the day. I just treat all these shows and movies as of a Shared isolated continuities and storylines or just their own isolated storylines in the end. They are just their own franchises made by larger publication of Warner brothers. If they really wanted to make continuations of these old tv continuities. they will if green lit or Warner brothers. Some people didn't even think that the dcamu john Constantine and barry allen were going to tomorrowverse until it came out. Warner Brothers and dc entertainment can do whatever they want with all these continuities at the end of the day. If they want to use them, they will ignore anything they did in the past. me personally I don't really think dcau and Earth 12 are the same continuity because there are some changes and things that don't the Animated Shows. I recommend watching Watchtower database on earth 12 and the dcau video on that note. 10:27 The Anti-Monitor in the tomorrowverse looks exactly like the giant robot from the day the earth stood still movie. In my opinion the Anti-Monitor from green lantern the animated series has a infinity better design then the tomorrowverse in my opinion. The cw at least had build up. 6:35 This scean was the best final line of Kevin conroy. In my opinion it was infinity better the Suicide squad kills the justice league game. 7:00 The tomorrowverse version of earth 12 batman & joker looked like they were from batman the animated series. John Stewart looked like he was from justice league 2001 while Shayera hol looked like she was from justice league unlimited. Overall, I don't take anything in fiction absolute because anything can change at any time.
Well, this review made me do something I have never done before: 'buy' a Digital Copy of a movie (I'm still a big Physical Media guy). When I realized you were talking about stuff I haven't seen yet, I had to watch it NOW. I liked it in the end, although I would have liked to see more 'substantial' endings to at least two 'universes': Now we may never find out what happened between Lex Luthor and Darkseid in the final episode of Justice League Unlimited (Luthor would never just give Darkseid the Anti Life Equation.....something else was going on). Also, I would have liked at least one more 'episode' of the Green Lantern Series to show us how Razer and Aya got back together again, and how Evil Aya was brought to her senses. Still, it should be interesting what the next iteration of DC Animated will be,. Also: Yes, I'm old enough that seeing the 'Superfriends Earth' go brought a little tear to my eye (the ONLY time they were ever shown 'seriously' 😥 😅)
Now...where do they go from here? Present day writers will most likely go the wrong way going forward. Not one IP these days has survived the ridiculous embarrassing embracing of DEI. Scary, so glad for physical media.
All of this was wasted potential. They should have started with the original justice league unlimited characters, the Titans on the Teen Titans cartoon, Batman Brave and the bold cartoon, Young justice, the original DC animated movie universe which was created before the new 52 one that had movies such as Batman under the Red hood, justice league Doom, crisis on 2 earths, the new 52 one and then the tomorrow verse. Wouldve been great to see JLU Superman interact with tomorroverse superman and new 52 superman and so on in and so on. Wasnt a faithful adaptation of the story. Way to many changes and having everyone be the same style from the tomorrow verse made it bland and uninteresting. The only thing good about it was the reprisal of Kevin Conroys Batman before his universe was wiped out. Your right about joker it's credited as Mark Hamill but that wasnt him. It sounded nothing like him.
I’m looking forward to what they do next. Their animated stuff has mostly been really good, and it was good to see these movies finally get a bitter/sweet ending to all the stories. But there is one story that remains unfinished and that is Constantine’s. That is likely a cliffhanger for what’s next. I’m fine with them taking a break for a while, but when the movies continue, I hope we’ll see some things we’ve never seen before. 1. Electric Blue Superman (I loved that whole run) 2. Kyle Rayner. So under appreciated and though we’ve seen him once or twice, he needs his whole story told. 3. Full length movies of “side” characters. Nightwing, Steel, Red Robin; all these characters need their own standalone movies. I’m down for whatever, but these are my top three for what I want to see from DC.
“Hey do you love Batman TAS, the DCAU, and Teen Titans? Well now everyone from those universes along with the universes themselves is dead!” What kind of pettiness drove the creative process in this movie. Like even SSKTJL was content just killing a single beloved iteration of a character, not multiple universes.
Not exactly: the DCAU that we watched was untouched since from the sounds of it that multiverse was one WITHOUT Darkseid and our DCAU did have a Darkseid. So the E-12 we saw get erased was an alternate version of it, a clue can be taken from how the character model for John Stewart was the one used in JL while the one for Shayera was the one used in JLU.
@@umjammerlammy9993 What do you mean our favorite heroes destroyed universes? They didn't do anything. Also this is adapting a 40 year old comic. A popular one at that. Just saying. Also my dude. It's just a cameo.
My theory is that DC destroyed the DCAU so they can create a new one! I believe My Adventures With Superman and Suicide Squad Isekai are just some of the new generation of the DCAU!
To be honest i don't understand why Warner bros now because tara strong tweeted a few months ago about teen titans season 6 will happen and seeing this feels it will not happen at all 7:32
I don't understand all of their logic anymore I mean but been begging for revival for over 21 years ago Marvel revived X Men 97 after 30 years so why not Teen Titans
Crisis on Two Earths, Flashpoint Paradox, Spider-Verse? Clearly, it can be done right. Yes, I know that this the part where someone runs in and claims that all of those were trash and only they're smart enough to notice, but whatever...
@@Xero_Kaiser why is it in every animated series and movie now? It's being overused. Focus on one universe so it can be high stakes. There is no danger because anybody can come back. It's gotten old.
My thoughts about the deletion of the DCAU's: as someone who grew up with the animated Universe and 2000's Titans Universe, watching these universes just get a race like that, actually, fucking hurt a bit, because it symbolised the death of my childhood, most everything I loved growing up as a kid is gone now, and those universes were the last pieces I was really holding on to, I don't know what DC is doing by making these decisions, because those universes had so much life still to live and stories that we deserve to see, anytime where everybody is asking to bring the classics back because let's be honest shit was better back then they definitely should not have spat in people's faces by killing the things they were asking for back, not to mention the fact that the last time we saw the 2003 Teen Titans, they were fighting the brain rot, that is the Teen Titans Go team, such a disgrace to universes that everybody loved.
What goes around, comes around. They will have more spit flung back in their faces soon, and All the damaged they've caused will be repaired or replaced.
So, simply put, those heroes who r supposd to help us, r the cause of all mayhem ? Flash selfishly tried to use his powers to get his mother back, triggering Flash point paradox. And worse, Superman, blinded by his arrogance and over confidence , started a war with Darkseid , who knows stragey of war for over a millenia of experince. And the war was soo humiliating for Justice leage, Flash was forced to kill Darkseid and triggering multiverse creation and its enemy Anti-monitor. So, in the end, Supermans ,Flash.....fked up infinite times. Never trust ur heroes
Your probably right about the destroyed universes being not the real ones. But i interpret it as DC basically metaphorically wiping their animated slate clean and moving on. So no more asking for DCAU, teen titans 2003, or any previous animated dc stuff that fans wanted to one day revisit. Its all gone, we'll still get contained animated movies but outside james Gunn DCU no more interconnected universe for the forseeable future.
That's the problem though, like you said, we will most likely still get standalone contained animated movies, but the fact they are self contained while others will also exist, means there is again, a multiverse. Making this all pointless
I liked Hush, 0:56 the Justice Society, and Injustice. The Long Halloween was also pretty good, but almost everything else since Apocalypse Wars wasn’t good. Part of it is that I don’t like this new animation style at all.
Instead of just showing us random tomorrow versus versions of different characters, they could’ve definitely pulled from every single cartoon every single movie like imagine if we had every single Batman animated version dark Knight returns under the red hood or all the different Supermen would’ve been neat definitely would’ve added more weight to these characters and their deaths instead of just some random Aquaman what if it was the Aquaman from the unlimited universe and the fact that Kevin Conroy wasn’t more a part of this movie, I feel it was a total sin the fact that they would have him do more work on suicide squad than this is criminal though I know they didn’t know he was going to die obviously
But still, he recorded this a long long time ago I would presume so the fact that they would give him only a few seconds with not even Mark Hammel’s joker because that did not sound like Mark 😂 it’s a sin if u ask me
Also, what’s up with caulking my boy Superman, not only once by giving us hope that he might go prime and then they completely curveball with Kara like I get it. She’s gonna die but why wave a bone in my face like Superman prime and then at the end with wonder woman I just felt like they just kept cucking him
Which is a real shame because he was literally the start of this universe I think it would’ve been poetic if he would’ve sacrificed himself, it started with him and then it ended with him kind of like the first time with Barry but hey I don’t get paid to write this bullshit I’m just a fan I no nothing 😂
I do wonder if the new universe at the end will have significance in the future. The only thing that was shown was Diana as a young child (so the scene is set thousands of years in the past) playing on Themyscira and queen Hippolyta warning her to be carefull. And that's it. We know nothing about this new universe. So they can do whatever they want with it.
Yeah they could have used a ton of different art styles for this to differentiate between them all but used it very limited. I felt very underwhelmed throughout all three parts until they started to massacre our childhood. It was sad but good to see and it was dope, kinda wish they did more of that to call back it’s animated history cause their animated department has slapped up til this tomorrowverse came out
Not sure if you forgot but Marvel and Dc are famous for Reboots whenever things or plots don’t seem to be working out. So pretty sure they gonna reboot stuff later on.
It's times like this that I REALLY miss the DCAU. That era consistently delivered greatness right up until the very end. I'm hoping that the new Batman: Caped Crusader series can succeed in restoring things to their former glory.
Youre so right about Hamill's line delivery feeling off. I had to scour the credits to make sure they didnt give Kevin's Final scene as bats to be with anyone other than Mark. It almost sounded like some nerd at comicon doing a joker impression lol
I remember DC’s Tomorrow-Verse Started strong with Superman Man of Tomorrow and Batman The Long Halloween, and then it went downhill with Green Lantern because there was Justice League before that.
I gotta say whatever this movie's failures, this being Kevin Conroy's last performance with that one line from the original BTAS Batman is pretty poetic. There's something to be said about this movie saying that Batman the Animated Series ends with Kevin Conroy, there is no BTAS without him.
The erasing of the Super Friends/ Super Powers, Batman TAS with Justice League and Teens Titans to me was the same as receiving Akuma Shun Goku Satsu. It was devastating to me…
Hi, it's that paragraph guy here 🙋🏽♂😃 So I don't think DC killed its Animated Universe on purpose. I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I remember when James Gunn and Peter Safran were both appointed as co heads of DC universe, James made a statement about bringing everything together from animated movies and tv shows to theatrical films and video games. Yes, they killed their previous DC-AMU when they made Barry rewrite history and which gave birth to the Tomorrowverse. Stay with me now 😎 this is where it gets interesting... We all knew there were no hopes of DCEU after ZSJL debuted on our screens back in 2021. Some will ask "What about DC films that came after ZSJL?" These movies were already greenlit and had began production, meaning that it was impossible to scrap them when the required budget was already provided and set locations and costumes were all accounted for. On top of that WB were desperate and wanted their DC films to remain relevant in the movie industry and this was where we got movies like The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, Shazam: Fury of the gods, Blue Beetle, The Flash and Aquaman. Batgirl was the one that got cancelled due to a tax write off smh🤦♂ Since they announced that the DCEU will end with Aquaman being the last movie to be released before making a soft reboot, they knew very few people would be interested to go watch their films in theatre and the turned to their Animation Division to fill the void. This is where we got the Tomorrowverse came in as well as some animated series like Harley Quinn, My Adventures with Superman, Batman Caped Crusader, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! and Suicide Squad Isekai to name a few. Earlier this year, the producers of Tomorrowverse did an interview with Screen Rant which was posted on their website. They revealed that they wanted to do 20 animated movies but WB & DC offered them 10 and they took it and tried their best. Why? This was because WB was already in search for someone they will hire to oversee DC and once they had that person on board, they wanted them to make a restructure of DC in its entirety and that is why they felt 20 animated movies would delay all of that. Thank you for making it this far, I'm almost done...😂😂 In order for the producers to make a satisfactory ending of the Tomorrowverse, they decided, as we all know, to have the JL use the Miracle Machine which will merge all of the different versions of the heroes and villains that survived in The Bleed into one Prime Version that will exist in one Earth (Earth Prime) with no recollection of their alternate lives from other earths. So with that being said, these Prime Versions of DC's superheroes and villains have set the stage for Gunn's DCU which will debut with Superman in July, 2025. Hope this was helpful, folks. Till next time!
Imo, the multiverse exposition and the idea as to how the tomorrowverse multiverse came to be is actually pretty well executed, as it not only completes the puzzle that is the DCAMU but it also gives a reason for the crisis to happen, since the creation of the tomorrowverse multiverse was unnatural, it had to either be destroyed entirely or unified back into a single earth.

No wonder the tomorrowverse looks so bland compared to old DC animation
If they had the 20 movie deal...really the only other ten that could be added would be
Wonder Woman
Flash
GL/GA
Teen Titans
Doom Patrol
Outsiders
Hawkman/Atom
JLA/JSA
LoSH2
Vixen

I'd also add the writing. I could forgive the animation if the writing was impressive, but it wasn't. It was very bland. So mediocre. Even in this Crisis event when you'd think they'd pull out all the stops. It all just meh.
WB deserves a award for most incompetent decisions making.

To think, the Tomorrowverse fizzled out faster that the DCAMU. DCAMU's 7 year run and 16 films, compared to this set's 4 years and 10 films. I have been saying the same thing for years, but considering how they have just completely screwed up a couple of really good storylines by changing things for I guess their own ego sake, I really would not want them to do that to kingdom come because that is a masterpiece.
I'd love that too, but the people in charge today would undoubtedly mess it up.
It couldnt have been our DCAU that got deleted in that cameo because of their own rules, Darkseid existed there, so like you said, it was DCAU adjacent, done for cameo and shock value.

Small nitpick but a big thing that kept annoying me was Dick Greyson having Tim Drake's outfit and weapon. Like why does DC keep having other robins stealing Tim drip?
I think it's because Tim's a Winx with all that style and flare.
Cause no one wants to wear boy shorts and elf shoes.
Because DC hates Tim and Pre-Red Hood Jason.
Maybe because Dick Grayson’s Robin costume was just a thong along with a shirt and some gloves. That would not look good on any DC animated show meant for kids. Another reason is that I think that the Tim Drake Robin Costume was sort of iconic back in the 90s and early 2000s.

I feel you can do both. Some of the DCAMU movies were stand alone.
It complicates some thing in the writing department. But it is possible.
@@Magnet_ChaosI was thinking the same thing. They can be standalone films, but allude to a wider universe without actually showing it.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lpshared universe is fine they just need better stories.

I hope it’s a separate universe from the original DCAU, because I hope to see the DCAU make a comeback someday and see some unfinished stuff get a closing and see characters like green lantern and hawkgirl as well as possibly Batman and wonder woman get together
There’s only one antimonitor in dc multiverse and we should’ve seen an epic battle between superman vs antimonitor which we didn’t
Agreed, such a wasted opportunity
And what was up with his outfit/amor? Talk about boring and basic

“That multiverse crap is all the rage lately.”

@@Magnet_Chaosyeah, I'm getting tired of the multiverse gimmick. It used to be treated as something special. An event. Now it's the norm? Tf?
What doesn't have a multiverse at this point? It's like the default franchises always end up in.
Digimon, Pokemon, power rangers, DC, Marvel, Sonic the hedgehog, Mario, Transformers, Dragon Ball etc.
I'm sure more can be named.
@@chronoblue418 Plus all those series had a Multiverse from really early on. Way before the concept became well known to the public.
And comics started having a shared universe in 1940 and the concept of a Multiverse was introduced in 1953.
I wish they actually got their planned 5 crisis films instead of just 3 James Gunn kind of screwed this universe over.
Technically Gunn's arrival was just bad timing, Sam Register cut the cord on these.
Man. Gunn is really getting blamed for all the crap the old guard did.
Good.
@@Magnet_Chaosthat’s just how simpletons work 💀
This universe was already mediocre to begin with. Went out the same way it started. Crisis on two earths was a way better Crisis film than the entire trilogy.
Finally... the animation style was an eyesore ngl
Exactly I literally laughed it the CW animated dc shows look better
So how do you:
Look at the DCAMU they introduced character like Wonder girl, Batgirl, etc and they're just killed off just like that, why bother having them their if they're not gonna serve a purpose for the plot or become characters
It's not necessarily impossible they could've edit and work their way around the story to make other characters feel useful and crisis was a 3 part movie so i still don't see how it's impossible
Even from an episodic standpoint it doesn't change the fact they made the most underrated and underutilized characters feel like characters, you can take a bunch of episodes and turn it into a movie
Warner Bros itself is in an infinite crisis at this point.
Killing ya dc universe before making blackest night is crazy
8:32
There was a lot of changes that didn't really make sense to me in my opinion but at the same time I understand why they attempted to make those changes. I noticed a number of inconsistencies when you put the 3 movies together.
7:58
Here is a lesson that I have learned over the years and i've learned it from a youtube channel called comics explained. "Never take anything in comics as absolute. Because anything can change at any time". And that statement was proven true because dc comics the entire multiverse in infinite crisis and the old version of the pre crisis dc multiverse returned in dark crisis.
6:27
As for those other previous dc continuities.
7:39
At the very end of the day.
10:27
The Anti-Monitor in the tomorrowverse looks exactly like the giant robot from the day the earth stood still movie. In my opinion the Anti-Monitor from green lantern the animated series has a infinity better design then the tomorrowverse in my opinion. The cw at least had build up.
6:35
This scean was the best final line of Kevin conroy. In my opinion it was infinity better the Suicide squad kills the justice league game.
7:00
The tomorrowverse version of earth 12 batman & joker looked like they were from batman the animated series. John Stewart looked like he was from justice league 2001 while Shayera hol looked like she was from justice league unlimited.
Overall, I don't take anything in fiction absolute because anything can change at any time.
Nice writing skills.... isn't it copied from chatgpt 😂
They use the machine or not makes no difference, wonder woman still spawns.
Also: Yes, I'm old enough that seeing the 'Superfriends Earth' go brought a little tear to my eye (the ONLY time they were ever shown 'seriously'
😥 😅)
Dc needs to give my man superman respect going forward
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. They went he lazy route. Instead of going out with a bang, they fizzled and disappeared. What a waste.
movies like Batman under the red hood, justice league doom, crisis on two earth don't take place in dcamu.
@jflexy1344 I thought they did. Doesn't that stand for DC animated movie universe?

I’m looking forward to what they do next. Their animated stuff has mostly been really good, and it was good to see these movies finally get a bitter/sweet ending to all the stories. But there is one story that remains unfinished and that is Constantine’s. That is likely a cliffhanger for what’s next. I’m fine with them taking a break for a while, but when the movies continue, I hope we’ll see some things we’ve never seen before.
1. Electric Blue Superman (I loved that whole run)
It’s all just so hopeless and edgy. Who the hell wants to watch their favorite heroes destroy entire universes. Like even Thanos wasn’t that hopeless.
Why bother feeling anything.

Why would they keep rebooting these universes

This
Ya know with what happened with the reboot of Young Justice, I'm kind of glad they won't touch the classics anymore. I don't want to ruin them.
That's the problem though, like you said, we will most likely still get standalone contained animated movies, but the fact they are self contained while others will also exist, means there is again, a multiverse. Making this all pointless
The original teen titans (2003) are dead?
@@FranciscoAntola no, just an alternate version of them

I liked Hush, 0:56 the Justice Society, and Injustice. The Long Halloween was also pretty good, but almost everything else since Apocalypse Wars wasn’t good. Part of it is that I don’t like this new animation style at all.
People bitch about injustice, but if you see it as its own thing it's pretty good.
Say what you will about Multiverses but you gotta admit DC has way WAY more interesting Multiverse ideas then Marvel especially the MCU.
Exactly. The Flash of Two Worlds popularized the multiverse idea in the comics.
So....all of dc animation until this movie is non canon and deleted for good? Well. Time to go back to 90s anime I guess. Ugh.
But still, he recorded this a long long time ago I would presume so the fact that they would give him only a few seconds with not even Mark Hammel’s joker because that did not sound like Mark 😂 it’s a sin if u ask me
Like why the fuck did we focus on characters like Dr. light so much? Who the fuck really wanted to see Dr. light 😂
The fact that it’s a Multiverse story and she got more time than Kevin Conroy’s Batman or any other version of these animated characters is insane
Thank god we can still re watch the great animated shows! I refuse to see this as canon
I'm a DCAU fan, but everything since Apokolips War has been an embarrassment. I'm excited that they are rebooting into the next phase.
It was devastating to me…
Hi, it's that paragraph guy here 🙋🏽♂😃
So I don't think DC killed its Animated Universe on purpose.
Batgirl was the one that got cancelled due to a tax write off smh🤦♂
Since they announced that the DCEU will end with Aquaman being the last movie to be released before making a soft reboot, they knew very few people would be interested to go watch their films in theatre and the turned to their Animation Division to fill the void.
Thank you for making it this far, I'm almost done...😂😂
In order for the producers to make a satisfactory ending of the Tomorrowverse, they decided, as we all know, to have the JL use the Miracle Machine which will merge all of the different versions of the heroes and villains that survived in The Bleed into one Prime Version that will exist in one Earth (Earth Prime) with no recollection of their alternate lives from other earths.
