How to Build a Dresser. In this woodworking video I build a modern, minimalist dresser out of maple wood. The design is clean and simple with just enough little touches to make it special. The video focuses on woodworking design and build topics such as, miters, drawer faces, inset doors, dados, and more

Love this book! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!
Hey All...thanks for checking out my video! As usual, I'll read all of your comments, so keep them coming, along with the likes, shares, etc... I'll try to reply as much as is humanly possible.
By the way, I also started a second channel, and a Patreon Page. Here are some links:

Also...I know there is a sentence at the very end that is technically wrong. It just sounded more elegant, so I went with it (I vs Me)
Thanks again for watching!
Thanks! I think it is part skill, part natural ability...but it is definitely possible for people to become better designers (even aesthetically) through practice...which is something that I like to encourage.
Just study the stuff you like. Look at it critically and ask why you like it. Try mimicking if you have to. At some point you'll start knowing what you're doing wrong, and how you can make it better.
Here are some great woodworking plans that you can try out: HootWood. com
Chris Salomone Are you using 5/8 in or 3/4 in plywood for building the drawer boxes?
The best gift ever!
All good, but I especially like the drawer pulls and matching ability to open the cupboard.
Thanks DRMNZ. It's subtle, but I'm glad people are taking notice of that element.
Beautiful project Chris!
Inspiration for me to start a father son project before he graduates. Who knows the dresser could become a family heirloom someday
This video was so weird, like an emotional rollercoaster.. I giggled from your stories, teared up as well and smiled as if I knew you and your friends. Strange to feel.
All sweet, calm and zen.
Beautiful and simple dresser tho, I'm sure they'll love it
Thanks Noethos. Glad you enjoyed the video and the story. Never had a video of mine described as an Emotional Rollercoaster...but I'll definitely take it as a compliment :)
Fantastic. I found your channel a few days ago. I appreciate your slow style and attention to detail. Driest & Bob are awesome, but they are not as much of a perfectionist as you. Keep them coming. Don't stop. Don't get tired of the effort. The effort is appreciated.
Thanks Branigan. We all have different skills and different goals. I like to think that each of us is best at what we aim to achieve. Though, I am definitely far from the best RUclips woodworker. :)
I really like the drawer and cabinet pulls. Very simple and clean. I guess you might even say I dresser them.
Nice! Appreciate it James
Man, your videos are on a whole different level from the typical build videos of other wood workers. Rather than go into heavy detail about technique and method, you tell the story behind what you are building. It makes the videos more than just informative...it makes them truly entertaining. Thanks for another great one. I really dressered it.
Chris: This video is great, not just for your amazing designs and craftsmanship but, and more important from my point of view, for the context behind the construction of the furniture.
Thanks for your video!
Thanks Fernando :_
I know nothing about woodworking nor building furniture, but I stumbled across your channel a few days ago and keep coming back to rewatch all your videos. I'm obsessed and inspired and find them so enjoying to watch. The narration, the editing, the music, the design details....I admire it all. I can't wait to see how your channel progresses! Keep up the great work and sincerely, thank you for the uploads :)
Hey Sean...that is awesome. That's kind of my hope - to make the videos enjoyable to even those who aren't necessarily into woodworking. And you never know, I might inspire a couple people to give it a shot somewhere down the road. Really appreciate it. Spread the good word to all of your friends who you think might enjoy it as well :)
That four eyes logo looks nice, you should make shirts like that.
I will at some point Alexis. Just haven' thad time yet.
Yet another of your videos that has managed to hold my interest from start to finish! I had no idea I was so interested in dressers??
Dressers are very interesting. I'd say easily in the top 27 most interesting pieces of furniture :)
Great piece and great story..... I think I might have got teary-eyed myself.
Thanks Sophie :)
Your story time well working is so touching ....I almost cried myself but that maybe because I have Multiple Sclerosis. I have started doing my own home inmprovements and am about to start painting my first room and installing laminate flooring. I have not done these types of things before but feel that I can do this. It is not easy but I get a great deal of happiness out of doing DIY's. I want to do as much as I can while i still can. I have been in a wheelchair twice.
Hi Jessica. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and that you are taking advantage of time to do some projects. If you ever have any questions, etc... don't be afraid to shoot me an email. foureyesfurniture@gmail.com
thank you very much I will take you up on that. :)
You make the best videos, Chris. Enjoyed the mix of shop and process film and a sound side of storytelling and mixed in guitar. Made for 3 levels of interest. Elegant!
Thanks Ty!
You are the zen of woodworkers. Great end products and great videos.
Thanks :)
What a beautiful friendship and beautiful video as always. Can't wait for your next awesome woodwork Chris
Thanks Vinza.
Just watched your recent Walnut build of a very similar dresser and had to go back and watch the OG thanks again.
Thanks Ben...and this one is named after you :)
That's a cool dovetail-style drawer pull. I never considered such a technique.
So, I started watching this video thinking it was going to help me, a total beginner, build my first dresser only to find it wasn't even close. Not wanting to waste my time, I was about to click out....but I started to appreciate the visual artistry and your storytelling gift, the music and especially the warmth in the details of the story of you and your friend and your wives and children. What a beautiful video. I was completely drawn in like a fly to a web, but with a happy ending :) I'm glad you shared it, and I'm really glad I stayed.
Thanks! Glad you were able to find enjoyment in it. Yeah, I don't think of the videos as "tutorial" more entertainment, with the opportunities for a few takeaways depending on your current skill level...and hopefully a little bit of motivation :)
I found this and your other videos while looking for ideas on building a new dresser for my 13 year old daughter who is finally outgrowing her old bedroom downstairs, and moving to one of the upstairs bedrooms. Apparently, I'm a huge fan of mid century modern style, and especially your take on it. As a new hobbyist woodworker, its easy to get caught up in your narratives as much as the project, but your attention to detail and camera angles makes it easy enough to follow the process. Great job Chris, and thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks Eric...really appreciate that and glad you're digging the style and the video. Love hearing when people feel inspired after watching a video :)
Love your story telling
Loved this more personal video. And I also like the cad snippets in the corner showing where the price belongs in the main piece. Keep up the brilliant work, and the beautiful cinematography.
Piece*
Thanks Michael. I was iffy on including those. I'll keep working on it to find an even better way to incorporate hopefully.
I've only just joined your following but I find myself coming home from 16 hours at work, hoping to find you've uploaded a new video. I think they're absolutely breath taking.
Thanks Matthew. 16 hours! damn...that only leaves enough time for sleeping and doing it all again. Glad you could slip some RUclips in there :)
Seriously I am not worthy in even considering making videos after watching all your videos. They are so damn good. Love the video, process, and project!!!
Really appreciate that Freddy. But there is a place for everything here on RUclips. Plenty of different styles (furniture and video) and plenty of people finding success.
Form & function. shows pure passion. loved this one too
Thanks Ritesh!
The story telling, video editing and everything is so amazing. Thank you for sharing your woodworking skills and the causes.
I couldn't agree more that handmade gifts are often the best way to let someone know what they mean to you. As a corollary, I loved the part of the intro where your kid ran into the frame during the tracking shot. Those are definitely the moments when you just have to laugh. Cheers!
Thanks Jason. When it happened I pretty much knew it was going up front.
I had a best man speech all written out and partially memorized. Oddly this video has inspired me to up my game. Your thoughts in your videos are as clean as your lines. You really are an inspirational person. Subbed.
Thanks Adam...I've delivered 2 of those speeches, so I don't envy you. Best of luck with it though :-)
This has become one of my favorite channels on RUclips. I dresser everything about this. You don't have to be loud and outspoken in front of the camera to be full of personality. The work (wood and otherwise) just speaks for itself.
Thanks Jackrabbit. That is true...although, I am going to start yelling for all of my voice over work :)
Just kidding.
This was fantastic Chris. watched without blinking. Even if I wasn't sure what were you doing in each scene (graphics are a huge help, good job) , the beauty of the images and voiceover kept me somewhere else where I could be totally focused in the video. Thanks for these 8 minutes! subscribed to your 2nd channel.
Thanks Cactus! Appreciate it. I was kind of on the fence with the graphics...but I think I'll try it again in a future build, maybe come up with some better presentation ideas...
You're basically friend goals
Your videos are like blankets
Thanks Man....warm and cozy :)
beautiful beautiful beautiful your job... congratulations!
Danke für die vielen Tipps!
That was a really nice baby gift, I'm sure your friends will enjoy it for years to come.
Eric
excelentes trabajos, greetings from Monterrey Mexico
Plywood is easy to deal with because it's already square than hardwoods, nice video.
I love your commentary and video style man just beautiful, keep it up :)
@Lucas Silva Here's a huge collection of woodworking plans: WoodSun. xyz
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Your video is the best example of when something is made for all the right reasons, the beauty of it will speak for itself. Example: those mistakes you spoke of, in my opinion, became a wonderful customized look.
Thanks Forrest :O)
Yeah, there are very few mistakes that completely ruin a project. Luckily this one worked out.
I find it so satisfying when you use just the right amount of glue and spread it so evenly along the surface.
On a less strange note, I genuinely love everything about this channel. You are my favorite channel on RUclips atm. Don't let internet fame hurt your family life, though :P
Congrats on the expected child!
Haha...thanks Robert. I'll keep my head out of the clouds.
wow amazing work. i would love to have a full kitchen cabinet build off that design concept that would be amazing
Thanks! I wouldn't mind one either...I'll be due for a kitchen remodel in the next few years too :)
Your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Really enjoying your all-around style.
Thank you. Glad you're digging it :)
love the design the only change i would make would be to put the base flush with the unit
You are a tory teller and I love this!
Beautiful job Chris!
Thanks Abby
Wow, man, i cannot get enough of your vids, the weather in all vids are just on point! I love it!
Thanks Jose. Dude, it was 107 degrees the first weekend I spent working on this. Not fun :)
Chris Salomone Haha, ok, i got it, keep it up with the good work, dude!!
I like your storytelling approach, opinionated, captivating, nice use of pauses, beautiful video shots, very unique aesthetics, both visually as, again, the music, love it, Zabriskie Point-ish... Very unique take on the subject, love it
Thanks Karl :)
Just wanted to say that while I have watched a great deal of woodworking channels I have yet to find one quite like yours. It has something very unique which I hope this channel maintains as it inevitably grows. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's definitely there and keeps me coming back for more.
Thanks Gargomel. I plan on letting it evolve...but I think I've found the core of what my tone is for sure, and it should remain.
I absolutely loved this one Chris, as with the last, and presumably the next. I especially enjoyed the narrative with and alongside this piece. You're definitely in my top three woodworkers on RUclips. And thats in no particular order, there's just the top and everyone below that. I love the though, effort, quality and finesse of these videos, and I'm always excited to see one in my sub box! Keep em coming, and keep being an inspiration to me and other woodworkers out there!
Best,
Aaditya
Thanks TekGeek. I guess it is timely to say that, no matter the order, I'm getting a podium finish in the TekGeekHD Olympics of RUclips Woodworkers. It's a mouthful but still and honor.
Haha, its basically you, bob and giacowhatever, you guys make great videos! :)
good company. I'll take it.
Love your videos. Get to learn from your excellent craftsmanship, but also love the human side to the craft which fully complements it all. Please keep them coming.
Will do Camilo. Always working on it :)
Cool explanation of family and friendship...
Great piece!
I love this video. Not only is it informational but it's like a journal entry. Two forms of expression at once.
Thanks LaRene :)
just finished binge watching all of your videos again. inspired! i can wait to get home and make some sawdust.
Nice man...that's awesome!
Here are some great woodworking plans that you can try out: HootWood. com
Beautiful
Cinematography keeps me coming back. Well done!
:)
I have to say there is something about watching your videos that has a calming effect. I really enjoy them keep up the builds thank you.
love your music i would buy. its so calming
Thanks Kelman. A lot of those are my friend Chris, and a few of them are me, improvising on guitar. You can check out his music page. There's a link in the video description. I also offer MP3 downloads to my patreon members

I can’t imagine how moved your friends must be. A beautiful piece from the heart and soul. How cool is that!!!
They continue to enjoy it :)
I enjoyed the build, the commentary, the design, and the honesty concerning the mistakes. Oh yeah, I also enjoyed the video.
God Bless my friend.
Thanks Frank :)
Just a little nicer than ikea... Hahaha.. I'm kidding it's a lot nicer than ikea.. The beauty is in the simplicity. IMHO.. The story of u and Chris is pretty cool too.
Thanks Lin..."slightly nicer than Ikea" is what I was shooting for :)
Nice one. Gets to the motivations for making things for people. Bonus for people you love, but just for people too - because that's what makes design important (both when it shines and when it, um, others), it's a commitment. To people. Makes it a good thing to work at, imho.
Awesome design, congrats. Id love to see it done using wallnut but awesome nonetheless
Another fine job!
A brief hyatus from watching and back at it!!! Hope all is well, thanks so always taking a moment to write back to me(I know you get loads of comments daily). Another fantastic video, Dirty Jersey out!!!
I love not only your projects but the stories that you tell in your content! In a world full of chaos and confusion you bring a sense of calmness to your videos. Thank you for that. And keep making great stuff!
Brandon Morgan
Thanks Brandon...appreciate that. It's fun putting both together (projects and stories) so I'm glad people are enjoying!
Another great video Chris! Thanks for all the hard work!!
Thanks Paul... glad to do it!
Your videos are so relaxing...nice backup track and your voice is soothing....love seeing you shape that wood into nice furniture. Keep up! ;)
Thanks :)
I liked the video 45 seconds in. A new record for me
Nice...that's before I even start woodworking.
1. Go Cubs!
2. The way you tell the story with your videos is just so great.
3. You have got such an awesome narrating voice! Not sure what it is but could I think I could listen to you read nutritional facts off of cereal boxes.
As ALWAYS, awesome video. Awesome project.
Today on Foureyes. Calories, 100.....calories from fat, 15....total fat, 3%
+Chris Salomone 😂
Your videos bring me the most sincere joy of all the channels that I follow. There is always a special reason that you are doing what you do, and combined with the peaceful narration and music, the result is an amazing feeling for me while viewing. Excellent work, and thank you for sharing.
Thanks Levi...I appreciate that. Glad you are digging the channel. New video should be up very soon!
+Chris Salomone You're welcome. Looking forward to the next video.
Outstanding! Made me smile a lot!
Appreciate it Domonic :)

Thanks Chad!
Glad to see another video. And another "Dad Moment". :-)
Hey Lorenzo...thanks :)
I love the peacefulness of these videos. Keep up the good work
Nice job!!!
super super awesome. I really like the video with the background of storytelling. The music in your videos makes me feel like I'm about to fall asleep, which is not a bad thing at all.
Thanks Dylan...glad you enjoyed all aspects. Now get some rest :)
awesome piece. It's simple but that's why I enjoy it!
Thanks 3 Bobby!
Omfg I came hear for wood working, and got a life story.
These videos are so relaxing!
Thanks Janne
Another great one!
This build video is like therapy. It's amazing.
Your videos are so relaxing. Thanks for making them.
I loved this...more of a hand tool solid hardwood guy myself but I have a son wanting to marry his girlfriend and a daughter about to graduate from college. They both like modern furniture and will need plenty...this is very inspiring!
Hey Chris...that's cool. Sounds like you have lots of work ahead of you with gift making.
The dresser is beautiful, the video is a pleasure to watch. Love the story.
A really nice piece. I particularly like the look of the drawer faces. Very unique. Looking forward to more videos. Your videos are very well paced, produced, shot, etc. Keep up the good work!
Nice job Chris. I really like the drawer pulls built right into the fronts. Pretty cool.
those aren't grandma names; those are *classic* names. so cool.
They are...but I like giving them a hard time :)
Beautiful work, Chris, thanks for sharing
Beautiful. You were able to convey both your passion for woodworking and your friendship. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Fletcher! Appreciate it.
Chris,
keep at it and you'll quickly get Dirsta or Clagget numbers. You're a great storyteller and your editing is awesome. Thanks for sharing, and especially thanks for sharing the mistakes. It means we can be human too... :-P
Thanks Scott. Appreciate that. I'll keep at it, making those mistakes :)
I quite enjoyed that!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for these videos, Chris!
Great dresser, very nice lines to it. Your videos just suck me in, love your story telling.
Appreciate that Lyle. Would have been a weird comment if you ended before saying "...me in, love your story telling."
+Chris Salomone yeah, sounded better in my head (I knew what I was thinking). I'm gonna blame it on this Sacramento heat we've been having. Lol
I like the "built in" drawer pulls. Neat way to make that work.
Thanks Ryan...yeah, I thought that was the kind of "unique" part of this project.
Loved this video!
