  • I know you guys like my videos about living in Bahrain and you like my videos about how to save money so today I'm combining those things to bring you a video about what I spend in a week living in Bahrain. This is a fun way for me to give you an idea of what I spend in a week 2020 while Im living in Bahrain as an expat. This is pretty typical of how much I spend in a week, but I think my number is pretty low because I've learned how to budget effectively. If you'd like to see how much a spend in a week living in Bahrain on a more expensive week (Bahrain brunch, meals out, shopping etc) then let me know and I can certainly make that happen.

    falafel would cost u a max of 200 fils in cafeterias. u could always get a red bus card to travel WAAAAY cheaper. u can go to the market near lulu center on Fridays (preferably in the morning) to buy vegetables (or even seafood) in bulk that will last u for weeks and will cost u honestly next to nothing. hope this helps!

    Hi Aimeee I just got subscribed to your channel. It's very informative and entertaining. I would soon be coming to Bahrain I hope to find a good job. I was told teaching is a good job however I don't have w degree in education. Contrarily I have a PhD in civil law from my country in Africa. I was told in Bahrain it doesn't matter if you come with big certificates you would still end up as a janitor or waitress. Please what is your advice on this point? I don't mind starting small however I hope my academic qualifications and experience can pay off really well. Thank you !

    I know this is unrelated to the video topic,but I wanted to ask anyway. Do you need to have a teaching license from your home country? I have a degree in early childhood education but not a teaching license because it's not required for the age group I work with.

    • @AimeeRebecca
      @AimeeRebecca  4 года назад

      From what I've heard from employers, the ministry of education in Bahrain is very particular. I had to have my PGCE certificate verified and all sorts. But I once worked with a girl here who had absolutely no teaching qualification, but they allowed it because she was working with the early years kids. Based on that, I think if you have a degree in early childhood education then you should be able to find a job working with that age range without a problem.

    I live in Hawaii and did my research. Bahrain seems more liberal compared to the other gulf states and was surprised that they are more liberal. I always thought it was expensive to live there since the dinar was worth more than dollar but compared to Hawaii, Bahrain seems a bit more affordable. I see villas under $1 million which you won’t be able to find in Hawaii.

    what part of Bahrain do you live in? I'll be moving at the end of February and at the moment im looking at Hoora or Juffair. Are there anywhere Brit expats hang out as i'd still like to find people to talk football/cricket with occasionally.

    • @AimeeRebecca
      @AimeeRebecca  4 года назад

      I love in Juffair, which I love because it’s close enough to Adliya to go to all the restaurants and bars without all the traffic of actually living in Adliya. A lot of Brits also live in Amwaj, which is beautiful, but more expensive.

    HI love your voice and your content.I used to spend wisely. I had been living in Bahrain for 7 years and 3 months on my first 2 years I was spending around 15 to 20bd per week the rest years I was spending 35bd to 40bd per week of course during lock down it was quite less. In my opinion the way how we spend is depends on our lifestyle,needs and wages, so as long as you are satisfied and happy nothing wrong with it. Just always save for the rainy days. Nobody can tell about the future. so save save save hehehe

    • @AimeeRebecca
      @AimeeRebecca  4 года назад +1

    So did you ever get that 2 months of pay? And I see your friend had her shoulders showing. So is that acceptable there because I thought you said that shoulders and knees had to be covered. I am also wondering why you said that in Saudi Arabia women can drive because I saw a site that said women in Saudi Arabia can't get a license to drive. I also read that in Yemen women have to have permission from a man to leave their house.

    • @AimeeRebecca
      @AimeeRebecca  4 года назад +2

      I got my pay. The only thing I didn't get was my indemnity pay, which I didn't expect they would give to me anyway. In Kuwait, I always kept my shoulder and knees covered and would recommend that, but Bahrain is more liberal so it's fine to wear tank tops here (depending on the area).
      I remember a friend who works in Saudi told me that trying to get a license was hard work, but that was just because so many women applied when the new law was passed. It meant the waiting times were extremely long because there were so many applications to process. I also know pretty much nothing about Yemen so you could be right. I have no idea, but that would be so sad.

    • @shanialover
      @shanialover 4 года назад +2

      @@AimeeRebecca But that would be fine with me because since I was a young girl my mother and grandmother taught me everything about taking care of a house and men and I love doing it and I know I am very submissive so I wouldn't have a problem wearing whatever men wanted and I grew up taking care of and obeying men anyway so I am sure I would be fine in the Middle-East. And to me it is exciting to be thought of as property.
