  • Eastman E6SSTC - New for 2022 (possibly limited).
Thermo-Cured Sitka Spruce top in natural finish, Mahogany back and sides. I am a long time E10SS fan, an E10SS was my first nice acoustic I bought for myself when I turned 18. This guitar looks, sounds, and feels great - the whole Slope D package for sure. Totally reasonable price for what you get too, I'm stoked on this guitar.

Just bought one yesterday, tried over 30 different guitars in 7 different shops over a month based around my visual and tone goals, my search ended 1 minute after pulling one of these out of the rack, played it, got an experienced salesperson and player to play it to me and it never went back to the rack, sat on the lounge next to me while I sampled quite a few others, I couldn't bear the thought of someone else getting hold of it so it came home with me, God only knows how it will sound in ten years or so, it's beautiful and has that awesome punchy Mahogany tone that I've been looking for and the trebles are tamed enough for my ear.

Amazing tone! I have a E10SS and it is a great guitar. But this stacks up with the best of them!

Very nice! I have an E20SS/V and have been looking at the mahogany lately. Definitely a more mellow tone that what I hear on the E10SS and E10SS/V. Great playing.

I A/B'd the E-6-SS-TC against its big brother, the Gibson J-35, and, while the both play well and sound grand, there is a main difference: The Eastman has a much more present midrange, the highs are true and ring out, and, though it doesn't have the bottom end of the J-35, it is about perfect for recording. Both guitars rate high in my book, but the price difference is significant enough that I chose the Eastman. For the $700 to $800 differential, I don't feel like I'm missing a thing!

    Takes a capo great.
I'd like to hear a shoot out with all the SS models from Eastman.

I can probably do one with an E10Ss at some point soon.

Great sample! How does this guitar compare to the J-45? Is it closer to it than the E10ss?

Neither of the Eastmans sound exactly like a J45 but that's a good thing as the J45 isn't that good, you'd have to test play maybe 20 odd J45's to find one that really growls but in my experience every Eastman I tried was great, I ended up buying an E6SS-TC, couldn't put it down once I tried it in the shop, I was testing guitars that were over 4K against it and it just blew me away.

Would you get one of these Vs a Taylor 317 or AD17? Thanks

Hey Ian, how did you get one of these so quick? Nobody has any in stock and you have to pre-order it and wait. Great sounding and priced guitar.

He does most of these as demos for a retailer, which is probably where this is from.

Ian, would you recommend the E6SS or the E10SS to someone who has a lighter touch when playing?
    Thanks for the great videos!

So basically this is a round shoulder slope guitar that is similar to the Gibson J-50 Natural. Is that fair comparison or is the bracing different?

It's visually like a J35 (except for the inverted bridge like a J45) but really sounds more like a D18, I tried them all and bought this Eastman, it sounds and plays so good, I love it 👍

Is there anything I could do to add more bass response to this guitar and bring down the brightness

Play the hell out of it, I own this model and it’s opened up considerably in just a couple months. Extremely responsive, great bass response and midrange and the trebles have a bell like sweetness

@@mightymustache6949 I love daddario nickel bronze, they bring out a really beautiful enhanced clarity in the midrange once you break them in after a week or so and they’re by far my favorite set on this guitar, far less brittle and harsh overtones as standard phosphor bronze strings :) I’d also recommend the Jim Dunlop rounded bevel pick that Ian recommends in his gear list (think of it as a more affordable version of a blue chip pick) enjoy your guitar my friend!

It looks like this particular guitar has a purely white rosette whereas all of the other E6SS guitar I’ve seen have black and white 🤔

What makes this guitar cheaper than the E10ss/V? Now compare with the E10ss/v please.
