I remember that Haymitch's fellow tribute was Maysilee Donner. It will be great to see her and Haymitch working together in the arena.

Suzanne Collins only writes books when she has something to say so I'm SO excited to see what the deeper meaning of this books is gonna be. She said it's going to focus on propaganda and implicit submission based on a 17th century Scottish philosopher's writing and how she keeps seeing people just fall for things implicitly everyday so this should be super interesting (and amazing)
Nobody's talking about how this book is such a huge responsability for Suzanne... people have so many expectations on this, it's just crazy! I feel like it could be an amazing book or a horrible one for most people. Anyway, i'm very excited and i'm sure i will love it completely, i'm so happy she decided not to forget about hunger games! I feel it's the kind of story that never runs out of material, such and amazing world.
For sure! That kind of happened with Ballad too. So many people (at least on youtube) hated it, but many eventually came around!
We could be getting for the first time the name of Katniss' mother!!
Super excited for this book. Love the world so much I almost wouldn't mind lore for lore's sake but of course having important ideas to convey will help the story as a whole.
On the Tigris question, I've heard a friend express that idea as well and while it would of course be interesting and I wouldn't be that surprised if that's how it end up going, but I just feel like based on what we know her being the District 12 stylist is not coherent.
Besides that I feel like Snow just wouldn't let her be the stylist for 12 due to his weird complex about it, I believe its mentioned that Haymitch and company's costumes were the basic boring mining outfits, which doesn't seem like something Tigris would do. But who knows it could potentially work. I def think we'll be seeing her in capacity even if it's just like 'that cool but weird tiger stylist'.

Sooo hyped! I thought Balad would be the last book we would ever get. I am also gonna be hyped for how they are gonna make the game look. The concept of a deathly paradise is so cool!
I Imagine a Caesar Flickerman pov where he’s learning the ropes being a new presenter and has to deal with all kinds of things. Or a Pov from the district 1 girl who thought she could win (until she gets un alived by her own axe by the forcefield) And maybe she even volunteered, I’m curious how Panem citizens from different districts that are supposedly wealthier view the hungergames and how maybe the media tricks them into believing the games are good? Or maybe we (us the readers of catching fire) were tricked by the tape Katniss saw, it was a showreel of the games highlights but maybe it was heavily edited and we don’t even know it, maybe the second quarter quell had some events that they didn’t show? Either way I’m very excited for this new book!!! (and movie) and I can’t wait to read it and see what kind of plot twists and turns Suzanne Collins has in store for us!!
There’s truly so many directions it could go! I look forward to finding out if it’s 3rd person (kind of like ballad, though it still focused on snow), or if it’s a specific person!

I’m very excited for this new story and more haymitch. However I don’t think it’s gonna be his pov. I think it’s gonna be 3rd person again. Or maybe switching between characters. I’ve read it’s gonna be mostly about the morning of the reaping and propaganda. So I feel that there’s a good chance its gonna switch between pov/ districts. I think it would be really cool to see the difference between how the richer districts and the poorer districts react. And I can’t wait to see who haymitch is before the games. And before his family is killed.
And ofc I can’t wait to struggle with the names Suzanne Collins came up with this time. I swear this woman hates people with dyslexia😂😂

Do we know Haymitch's story? Because Collins is probably going to tell us something we don't know.
What we know is from catching fire and mockingjay
The more I think about it the more excited I am for this book.

Having read all the way through The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and knowing how it ends, I have been hesitant about seeing the film adaptation.
This new book and movie, however, has me excited to see both.
My current theory is that since the theme is propaganda/control, maybe the book is being written by Haymitch after the events of Mockingjay to serve as a warning to future generations of what not to repeat. There won't be a shortage of HG content as fans for the next 2-3 years, especially if they ever release the directors cut of Ballad in that time.
Ever since the news dropped, I was waiting for this video. I agree with the caution and hope that you have, Collins would have done something by now if it was just about money. But the idea of seeing the citizens of district 12, especially certain characters endings, oh it’s going to be so hard. But one thing I’m gonna keep an eye out for is: will we learn Mrs. Everdeen’s name? You mentioned this in a video, and I’ve always wondered it too. I think we have a fair shot of learning it, 12 is very small so Haymitch most likely knows her by her first name, but even if he doesn’t Maysilee does. That’ll be interesting to also see how Mrs. Everdeen was when she was young, before all the tragedies in her life changed her. I’m very intrigued.
What if this is actually Alma Coin’s backstory as she starts to set things up for Mockingjay and she is slowly putting the pieces into place starting with Haymitch. We got Snow’s backstory so now it would be interesting to get Coin’s perspective years before she meets Katniss. (It’s from Alma Coin POV watching from the believed to be deceased district 13 underground stronghold)
I can’t say I agree with the idea of it being Coin’s story, just doesn’t make sense since it’s the 2nd quarter quell which we know to be Haymitch’s games, but I like the thinking!

I feel like Tigris won’t be Haymitch’s stylist, mainly because we know from Catching Fire that the outfits were just coal miner outfits, and Tigris seems too skilled to just do that for years. Unless there’s some other kind of motive to keeping the 12 tributes looking drab.

Gotta be honest, I’m skeptical on this one. I don’t know exactly what she could say in terms of a message or theme that wouldn’t feel redundant of other books, and book readers already know the general events of Haymitch’s story. Still going to read it, but not as excited for it as I was about TBOSAS. Hope I’m proven wrong though.

The more i think about it the more i doubt it will be Haymitch's POV. Collins has been on record stating she will only write when she has something to say and this book is supposed to tie in themes like propaganda, implciit submission and how the few govern the many as well tying in the concept of real vs not real. We've gotten the Capitols POV we've gotten a tribute from a poor distirct's POV. I think this book will primary focus on how the careers eventually fed into the propaganda of the games
