  • Have you ever wondered why we celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday?
Have you asked yourself, what does Jesus mean when he says, “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them." (Mt 5:17) And why does this new covenant change the Sabbath? "...This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." (Lk. 22:20)
Today, Fr. Mike delves into the scriptural roots of the Sabbath and why we as Catholics celebrate it on Sunday and not Saturday as the Jewish people still do today.

God said "Remember" the Sabbath. Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Sunday can't just become the Lord's day. God never blessed and hallowed Sunday. You just proved Saturday is Sabbath from your explanation.

@nat turner THATs so clear He didnt come to '"Abolish the Law" but to "Fulfill", correct. BUT, Give me the chapter that the word "Sabbath" is "fulfilled"? Brother, "LAW" not sabbath, there is a lot of LAW in the bible. if its fulfilled I tell you its NOT Gods Law and or The 10 Commandments. What Christ talking about is the LAW from mankind sense from Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Jacob, and etc. that is the law, like Circumcision and sacrificing the Lamb, cause Christ is now the lamb who will sacrifice for our sin, and other law from them, not from GOD's Law, nor the Sabbath day. There is non in the bible that the "LAW of GOD" has been fulfilled" or "The 10 Commandments" has been fulfilled or "The Sabbath Day" has been fulfilled. Dont be fool!

Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Finding out Sabbath- High sabbath- low sabbath-monthly sabbath-yearly sabbath-weekly sabbath- Sunday would then be considered a low Sabbath-
And according to the old Julian calendar- Pre Gregorian- Sunday would fall on Day 7 because there were 8 days.
On top of all this mess… The Gregorian calendar is a pagan one. Named after strange gods…

Hi if a person was to go to the cross we would find the day Jesus kept as of the 7th day sabbath
The Jewish people called the 6th day was preparation day
The Christian faith calls this good Friday
The gospel of Jesus christ states the next day was the sabbath
      That Saturday
Then on the first day of the week which is Sunday Jesus rose from his tomb
The gospel tells that the apostle and the church rest on the sabbath do to the 4th commandment of God
We need to asks ourselves a question?
Why did Jesus and his father wait until Sunday morning to bring Jesus back to life
They waited a whole day until the sabbath was over to bring Jesus back to life
Here is the answer we're looking for.
The father and son had to obey their own law of God because the 10 commandments are a reflection of sin
The father and son won't sin
so they had to wait a full day in where they wouldn't break their own law for each other
for this would be an example for the rest of us on his holy day the 7th day sabbath
Friends Jesus told us nothing in his laws would change from the dotting of the letter I or the crossing of the letter T would be altar in his law
So why is the Christian faith keeping the 1st day of the week ?
In order to understand all this then we have to understand what happened in 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 an 4
      2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4
In no means let no man decieve you for first a great falling away will take place first and then the man of sin or the son of perdition will be revealed in his own time Who opposseth and exalteth himself above everything CALLED GOD and he siteths in a temple as of God
When it states as of God
This is insinuating that he sits on a throne on earth as of the father in heaven sits on a throne in heaven
For this individual would opposseth and exalteth himself above everything CALLED GOD ,
what are the title that Belong to Jesus and his father ?
The father in heaven is known as the HOLY FATHER
      Mathew chapter 23 verse 9
Jesus tells us, call no man on earth your father but only the one you have in heaven
The pope comes along and he is a man who takes up the title of holy father in which that title is only given to the most high God in heaven
Then what about the title that belongs to Jesus himself
Dose the pope take up Jesus's own title?
In mathew chapter 16 verse 18
The pope proclaims he is the successor of Saint Peter
And then he the pope proclaims this makes him the Rock upon the church
      In 1 corthinians chapter 10 verse 4
The apostle Paul Is telling us That Jesus christ is the Rock upon the church, Not peter
For in mathew chapter 16 verse 18 Jesus is the subject in that chapter and he Jesus is speaking of himself as the only Rock upon the church
In mathew chapter 7 verse 24 to 27
Does Jesus tell us to build our house of faith upon the apostle peter or upon the Rock which is Jesus christ
So the pope of Rome siteths in a temple and acting as God himself in heaven
      What about he opposseth himself
      What dose opposseth means ?
Opposseth means to be a representative for God in heaven or become the 3rd member of a party
      What dose exalteth mean?
To be set at the highest level of rank or be reverence by many
So dose the pope opposseth himself above everything called God?
      Answer yes he dose.
For here the facts to prove that the pope opposseth himself
For Jesus told us in his gospel that no man can go to the father without going thru Jesus frist
So the father becomes the 1st party
Then Jesus becomes the 2nd party
Then the pope comes along and he tells us if we are not within his catholic church we are found lost and they who are found lost have no relationship with Jesus
So without being in the catholic faith and going thru the popes own authority we will not have a relationship with Jesus and then lose the opportunity of seeing the father in heaven
So the pope is telling us, it's him who is on the bottom line of this structure, and he's the one who has the keys of heaven and nobody has a relationship with Jesus without going thru him first
      What about exalteth himself
The pope proclaims he is the successor of Saint Peter the highest rank upon the catholic faith and he is reverence by 1.3 billion catholic and by the time Jesus returns that number will Tripple
So if the pope is the man of sin or the son of perdition in 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4
What is the definition of son of perdition?
      Scripture tells us that definition
      John chapter 17 verse 12
Jesus himself brings that title to an individual
      John chapter 6 verse 70 and 71
Jesus points out who carries the title of son of perdition
The apostle judas was that man
      Who was judas iscariot?
      Let's examine judas
He was within the first church
He was apostle of Jesus for he volunteered to be his apostle
He betrayed Jesus and scattered the chuch by his agenda
Jesus calls this apostle of his the son of perdition
Here are some other titles Jesus give us
The son of man is Jesus christ
The sons of thunder are James and John the apostles for Jesus
The son of perdition is an apostle of Jesus who let the devil enter into him to betray Jesus
      In 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4
The apostle Paul is using Jesus own ideal in John chapter 17 verse 12 to give the church a warning who will be the man of sin
The popes are the only men on earth who proclaim and carry the title of the princes of the apostles of the gentiles for Jesus christ
So the apostle Paul is telling the church look out for a man who claims he is an apostle for Jesus and he siteths in a temple and being as of God
The pope sits in the gentile temple in Rome Saint peter Cathedral friends
So what about the great falling before the son of perdition in verse 3
The pope recieve the throne of Caesar in 538ad justinian of pagan Rome seated a pope at the throne of Caesar and he vigilous ceased the cepther of Caesar and torch of Saint Peter and church and state became a union.
      What event lead to this?
In 321ad Constantine Unites Christianity with paganism and then the rd was paved for a new religion and a church in where the whole would could unite under a deception
      What happened in 321ad?
The uniting of Christianity and paganism were compromised
Paganism excepted the son of God for the sun of god
And Christianity sacrifice the 7th day of the week for the pagan Sunday observance of their sungod that they worship
And ever since 321ad until our day that falling away has been massive
And now the day has come where the church of christ is aware of the man of sin or the son of perdition would come from in the world
And he's coming from Rome The catholic church Friends
Jesus face a son of perdition in the 1st church and we that are in the last church will also face this issue with a fallen apostle who claims he an apostle for Jesus

Now here we at a day where both the bibical sabbath and the blk sabbath is being lifted up to a point where decession will have to be made
      Joel chapter 3 verse 14
Multidutes and Multidutes will walk thru the valley of decession before the great day of the lord
Will we keep his day or will we keep the day a man has created for the world
Jesus said he was lord of the bibical 7th day sabbath
And the antichrist will proclaim he is lord of the blk sabbath
      And in 1923
The papal power made an announcement to the world
For this is what cardinal James kipson said
      There a conflict Going on
And if an individual wants to give their Authority to scripture alone then that individual must make the bibical 7th day sabbath The day of rest as scripture proclaims
But they who observe Sunday then they give their Authority to the pope of Rome for all Authority of the pope is over the word of God and the prostentant prove this fact since they chose Sunday as of the catholic faith chose
Then the papal power makes the final claim
Sunday observance is our Mark of Authority over the word of God
Mark of the beast comes into mind
Nobody made the papal power make this announcement they brought this on their own so if they incriminating them selves then it was their own doing
Friends keep the bibical sabbath 7th day and run from the throne the pope sits on
For he will bring you bitter disappointment at the end

    • @SaintCharbelMiracleworker

Rabbi Yakov (Teacher of Judah haNasi/the writer of the Mishna) ) taught that the Sabbath is only a day of preparation for the banquet which will be laid out in the Olam Haba when Messiah comes. Jesus is Messiah and he has already arrived, lived, died and resurrected.
As Catholics, we right now living in the Messianic Olam Haba. God has put before us His feast, the Eucharistic sacrifice of thanksgiving.
In the OT the day of preparation for the Sabbath is from Sundown Thursday to Sundown Friday at which point the Sabbath began. But what was Sabbath in preparation for?
Rabbi Jacob explains that the Sabbath is the day of preparation for the Olam Haba. The seventh day = sabbath. So the eighth day is the day that they were preparing for. This is why in the NT the first day is also known as the eighth day as it follows the Sabbath. As you see, in the Olam Haba the day of worship is going to be the Eighth day/First day/Sunday when the Eucharistic banquet is set by God.
To worship on Saturday instead of Sunday is to deny that we are living in the Messianic Age. It is a denial that Christ is the Messiah. He fulfils the last Sabbath by not disturbing it, rising on Sunday, fulfilling the Sabbath. If one is Jewish ie Hebrew Catholic it is fine to take part in Sabbath activities but the Sabbath must not replace the day of worship which is Sunday.
How is this to be understood? The seventh day (Sabbath) is the day of preparation for the day that is to come in the Olam Haba (Sunday). God Himself will lay out the banquet. It is the Eucharist, the sacrifice of thanksgiving which the sages prophesied.
The Pharisees were upset when Jesus did “works” of healing on the Sabbath, they were outraged that Jesus was healing on a Sabbath. Jesus healed on a Sabbath because He is the Lord of the Sabbath, the Sabbath has no power over Christ or His Church.
It is the Jewish apostles who began worshiping on the Eighth Day/Sunday (according to Jewish calendar)... the day following the Sabbath, because the Sabbath is now fulfilled.
Foolish of followers of Christ to want to continue worshipping on Saturdays when they have no idea why/what Sabbath was for.

St. Paul speaks of all Christians as members of Christ, so that with Him, they form one Mystical Body (Cf. 1 Cor 12:12-31; Col 1:18; 2:18-20; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19; 4:13). St. Paul did not use the word Mystical. It was developed more recently to bring out the fact that this union is unique, there is no parallel to it. It is not the same as the union of a physical body, nor that of a business corporation.
The Church, the Mystical Body, exists on this earth, and is called the Church militant, because its members struggle against the world, the flesh and the devil. The Church suffering means the souls in Purgatory. The Church triumphant is the Church in heaven. The unity and cooperation of the members of the Church on earth, in Purgatory, in Heaven is also called the Communion of Saints. When St. Paul uses the word "Saints" in opening an Epistle, he does not mean they are morally perfect. He has in mind Hebrew qadosh, which means set aside for God, or coming under the covenant. Being such means of course they are called to moral perfection. But of course, not all have reached it in this world.
The word "Saint" in the modern sense means someone who has been canonized by the Church in recent times, or was accepted as such by the Church in earlier times. If a person is shown to have practiced heroic virtue--beyond what people in general do - in all virtues, the title "Venerable" is given; with two miracles by that one's intercession, the title is "Blessed"; two more miracles can lead to canonization and the title of Saint.

THE END OF THE SABBATH LAW
      - What law of commandments separated Jews from Gentiles? The Law of Moses! One of those commandments was to observe the Sabbath. Ephesians 2:11-15

      ***
The Bible does infact show that Sunday is Christ's Sabbath and that it was God's plan before the foundation of the world. The Book of Deuteronomy clearly shows this. Sunday is Christ's New Covenant Sabbath. Here is how and why.
In the Old Testament there are two lists of the Ten Commandments, one in the Book of Exodus and another list is in the Book of Deuteronomy: Ex 20:1-17 and Deut 5:1-21, both of which explain the purpose of the Sabbath but both explain the purpose of the Sabbath differently. The Book of Exodus tells us the purpose of the Sabbath is to rest and to remember God's creation, however, in Deuteronomy Moses tells us that the purpose of the Seventh day Sabbath is to remember the Exodus, that is, the Exodus from Egypt. The Old Testament is a prefiguration of the New Testament - the Old Testament points to its fulfilment in the New Testament. The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that the New Covenant is greater than the Old Covenant (Heb 8:6) - and that the New Covenant reality is made present in Christ Jesus - while the Old Covenant pointed to something greater to come - the fulfilment of the Old. Jesus Christ, by His death and resurrection, brought about the true Exodus - not from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt - but the true and real Exodus from slavery to sin and death. If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Testament/Old Covenant was to remember the Exodus from Egypt - then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Testament/New Covenant is to remember the True Exodus of which came through Jesus Christ, which is the Exodus from sin and death, and which is clearly greater than the Old Covenant Exodus; for Christ's Exodus was accomplished by his death and his resurrection - his resurrection which took place on the First Day of the week - Sunday - not Saturday. So Christians celebrate the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death on the day Christ accomplished it. In addition - by Christ's resurrection on the First Day of the week - Sunday - Christ has brought about a New Creation - which the New Testament confirms - Christ Jesus IS the New Creation and He IS First-Fruits. There are Sunday Sabbaths in the Old Testament (Lev 23: 9-14) called First-Fruits. God made the Jewish Feast of First-Fruits in the Old Testament to always fall on the Sunday - that is - the Sunday which followed the Saturday Sabbath in the week of Passover week - so Sunday Sabbaths are already given us in the Old Testament - and First-Fruits day is the very day on which Christ rose from the dead following the Passover Last Supper. God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather on every Sunday. The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that there is a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is "on a different day." Heb 4:8-9, says 'For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains then, a Sabbath-rest for the the people of God.' Christians are bound to keep "a" Sabbath rest but this is "on another day" - Christ's Exodus Day - Sunday. So Christians celebrate and obey and fulful the requirements of both the Book of Exodus (creation - now a New Creation in Christ Jesus) and the requirements of the Book of Deuteronomy (remembering the Exodus from Egypt - now remembering the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death) by their Sunday celebration of the fulfilment and reality brought about by Christ on the First Day of the week - Sunday. Christians celebrate this on the day of the week Christ accomplished it. In Christ Jesus Christians through Baptism have already entered the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb12:22) and sit with him on his heavenly throne (Eph 2:6) - they already participate in the eternal heavenly rest - and Sunday is a foretaste of that eternal rest - Sunday Mass (and every day of the week when we go to weekday Mass) we enter into that eternal heavenly community of the angles who forever pray and sing "Holy Holy Holy, Lord God of Hosts.." - this is the Mass - this is what the Mass is for - we don't have to wait for death and for heaven after death - we can come to the heavenly hosts and join with them in the eternal praise of God. The Jews in their Sabbath keeping remember the week just past - but we Christians put God first in our week - by bringing everything we are and have, with and for Christ - Christ is the First and the Last - Sunday is the First Day of the week so we gather together to offer and give Him everything - and He gives us Himself - truly present in the Eucharist.

Who was God communicating with? Was he communicating his commands to Israel or did he establish a covenant with the entire world? It is obvious he gave the commands to Moses, called the Mosaic Law, and it was a covenant between the Lord and Israel.
It did not establish a covenant with the entire world. As gentiles, we were never in a covenant relationship with God until Christ. Thus, we are in the NEW covenant. Not part of the Law. The first apostles made that quite clear in their writings, but sadly so many refuse to read and heed them.

Jesus said that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). In fulfilling the law, He completed the law. How did He do this? Jesus fulfilled the Law by obeying the law perfectly and by completing the sacrificial system. Jesus saves to the uttermost! In what way can we offer one more sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? Jesus pronouncement, “It is finished,” signified the completion and fulfillment of the law.

I prayed for 20 hours pretty well straight when the doctors phoned me after she had a cardiac arrest in their ER (they forgot to mention that as we were not even allowed to see her). She had a ruptured appendix and the sepsis went right through her body she was put on life support and was in a coma. She said when they took it out and she opened her eyes the nurse almost fell off her chair. When she told me I was laughing just visualizing her opening her eyes and smiling and saying, "I am ALIVE". I love the Rosaries but, need to get back on the Bible in a year.

I got stuck around the time of the Babylon exile, and I confess I decided to skip a little bit of Jeremiah because I found it so slow, the Prophets are a little hard to get through and Fr Mike even says it. I am looking forward to getting to The New Testament though. I listen sometimes in the car, while i wash dishes, while I take my girls to the park, just any free time. 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

The majority of people, in my estimate, is in a very unhealthy spiritual condition. I see in many believers, churches, and denominations an alarming trend - ignorance of God’s word by some, rejection of God’s word by others, and (at the most frightening level) an outright despising of the word of the Lord by a few. The results, as we will see, are catastrophic. As we are nearing the end of the world and the close of probation is near. Repent and be baptized otherwise the second death will be the end for you. Jesus Christ is our ONLY mediator and praying the rosary is a pagan tradition taught from generation to generation. PLEASE STUDY and don't allow satan to win your soul.
The Catholic church teaches many erroneous doctrines. I highly recommend you read the Holy Bible along with a concordance and also recommend the books: The Great Controversy, Patriarchs and Prophets, The Drsire of Ages, Acts of the Apostles. Also recommend Foxes Book of Martyrs. God doesn't force anyone to obey or love Him. Funny how Rome killed millions because they would not bow to their teachings.

My reasoning for so is because back then, they would consider the start of the day when the sun went down. If you go to mass on saturday afternoon, than it would be basically a very early Sunday. That's how I view it and been told. But if we really think about keeping the sabbath holy, I find it goes beyond attending mass. It should really be a day to set aside. Maybe pray for a bit. The Old Testament gives us TWO lists of the Ten Commandments - one in the Book of Exodus and another list in the Book of Deuteronomy.
The Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the purpose of the Sabbath is to remember the Exodus - that is - the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Covenant is to remember the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt, then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Covenant is to remember the Exodus Jesus Christ brought about by His death and resurrection.
Jesus Christ brought about the true Exodus - the Exodus from sin and death - which the Old Covenant Exodus was only a shadow.
Paul tells us in Colossians 2: 16-17, that not only are the "ceremonial laws" a "shadow" but that the Seventh-Day Sabbath is a "shadow" also.
Here it is in Paul's Letter to the Colossians 2:16-17 :
'16. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival (that's the annual Jewish feasts), a New Moon celebration (that's the monthly Jewish feasts), or a Sabbath day (that's the weekly Seventh-Day Sabbaths). 17. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.'
"Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed by Christ himself into the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper.
The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the altar of the wood of the cross.
A "shadow" is literally an outline on the ground or wall. A shadow on the ground is not me - I am the real thing - the shadow is only an image, an outline. So too, the "shadow" in the Old Testament has become the reality in Christ at his death and resurrection, which he accomplished on the First-Day of the Week - not on the Seventh-Day of the Week.
That is why Hebrews tells us that there is still a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is On Another Day - that is what Hebrews tells us - the Sabbath is to be kept but kept on Another Day - its right there in Hebrews.
Hebrews 4: 8-11, specifically verse 8, shows us its on "another day"
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather every Sunday.
Christians celebrate and obey and fulful the requirements of both the Book of Exodus (creation - now a New Creation in Christ Jesus) and the requirements of the Book of Deuteronomy (remembering the Exodus from Egypt - now remembering the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death) by their Sunday celebration of the fulfilment and reality brought about by Christ on the First Day of the week - Sunday.

Sabbath was created at creation !! NO exodus then!!!
      Only Adam and Eve!!!
      Mark 2:27-28
These verses contain a number of things critical to Sabbath keeping:
Jesus refers to the Sabbath as a specific day; it is THE Sabbath, not a Sabbath.
The Sabbath was not made for its own sake as were the other six days, but as a service to mankind. An alternate translation would be that it "was made on account of man." Jesus presents it as the Creator's specific and thoughtful gift to man.
It was not made just for the Jews, but for mankind. When God created the Sabbath, He intended it from the beginning as a UNIVERSAL blessing to benefit mankind. He made it to help ensure man's physical and spiritual well-being.
The broader context reveals a disagreement over how to keep it. Jesus claims to be its Lord, its Owner or Master, and He thus lays claim to His right to show by His example and verbal instruction how to keep it, not whether to keep it. Since He expresses no disagreement with keeping it, He implies that He expects man-not just Jews-to keep it. He has a perfect opportunity here to reply that it does not matter if men keep it, but He gives no such indication.

The word rest means (Nuach) in Hebrew: To lay your weight down, a cease of business and activities, a more modern translation meaning is to be refreshed. In Psalm 23, you get a beautiful picture of this. Although many think of this as the psalm to read at a funeral of a loved one, it actually has nothing to do with death, but the refreshment and nurturing of rest in Christ and IMHO the rest of Sabbath. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel wrote a fabulous book called "Sabbath". It was his favorite subject to discuss. A gem of a book. Even if you are not a Jew it offers a view of Sabbath that is very beautifully written, which can enrich a Christians understanding of it's Biblical history and the future celebration of it in Heaven with the Messiah.

      Hello and peace to you.
Christ said he is Lord of the Sabbath in Matthew 12, Mark 2, and Luke 6. He's never changed the day to the first day of the week. In fact, the prophet Isaiah says in 46:10, that the Father declares the end from the beginning. And, how does the beginning read in Genesis? There's only one Sabbath day, and it's on the seventh day. There are not two Sabbath days in the entirety of scripture. There is one Lord of the Sabbath, and one Sabbath day, which Paul says is a shadow of things that are to come in Colossians 2:16-17.... of things to come, which means the weekly seventh day Sabbath points to the Lord of the Sabbath who will bring rest to humanity.
The Father gave the Sabbath as a sign that he created the world in six days, Exodus 31. And, the Eighth Great Day is a biblical festival found in Leviticus 23, and it follows the week long festival of Tabernacles. It's fulfillment is hinted by Christ in John 7 and 8 as he points to himself as the living water and light of the world during the festival of Tabernacles in the gospels. We get a glimpse of what that will be in the future in Revelation 21:1-6, when the Father is the light and he's the lamp, and living water is given to his people.
All of these biblical festivals point to future things that are to come, and yet, in Leviticus 23, there are not two sabbaths. And in Genesis there are not two sabbaths. There's only one, and it's on the seventh day, just as Christ, the disciples, and his mother observed, and it isn't the first day of the week.
      Hope this helps a little.
      Blessings to you

Thank you Fr. Mike for your explanation, however i am still not confident. i feel that when we received the 10 commandments, God didnt intend for them to change or be interpreted differently. So i feel hesitant to call Sunday the Sabbath. Going back in time the day of rest (Sunday) became the day of rest as follows - Sunday was another work day in the Roman Empire. On March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. I think when the Lord rose from the dead on Sunday isnt that day of celebration, a new day, a new beginning, the first day to a new covenant not the last. FYI i am an active practicing Roman Catholic who is studying the faith and wanting to understand our teaching not just skate by. Please dont take my comment / questioning as persecution.

Hi, I have a question that I was hoping you guys could answer or maybe even make a video about if possible. As catholics and christians we fear the Lord and know the consequences so we try our best not to sin. My question is how do we respond to those who don’t, those who don’t really believe in the bible or they do but they don’t want to put in the effort to learn and understand their actions. God says that leading others to sin is worse than committing the sin itself but people around me are always saying things like “Oh my God” or even “holy sh*t” which as kids we’re taught is wrong but despite that it seems like it’s become a part of their daily lives to say those. Another example is how people around us lie or say “white lies” to either get out of trouble or save themselves from embarrassment. I have a hard time calling people out for this especially older and bigger people say an older sibling or if i overhear a stranger say or do something wrong do I still have to go up to every single person who does these wrong actions? Is praying for them enough? Would God be disappointed in me if I don’t have the courage to confront them about it? I struggle with this everyday and was hoping you guys could get back to me. Thanks a lot! I love the videos guys keep it up! #AskAscension

That is why Catholics can fulfill their Sunday obligation on Saturday evening. Secondly, although Christians since the beginning came together on the 8th day, Jesus is our true sabbath rest thus EVERY DAY is a sabbath day because every day we can receive Our Lord in the Eucharist!

The Sabbath was given to mankind before there was a Jew. It was given before sin therefore the cross can't take it away. Jesus kept the SABBATH when he was alive and when he was dead. If you are a Christian you would agree we should not kill, or steal, or commit adultery and the 9 commandments but the day he blessed and hollowed and sanctified, the day he set apart for us to have a closer relationship, the 1 commandment that says to remember meaning DON'T forget is the only one man have forgotten????

The sabbath day and all God's commandments have not changed and never will. The Sabbath laws as distorted by the Jewish Leaders are too strict and burdensome to man, Jesus explained this. We are to go by his (Jesus) example and understand that the Sabbath is for man to rest it's about receiving the blessing of his covenant with us by resting and not creating or working. Resting our body and minds on Sabbath is healing and an example of how self Love and nurturing ourselves is to be remembered. Sometimes on Sabbath we may need to give Love to others and be a little self sacrificing for the healing of another this is also healing for us for the rest is not meant to be a selfish action.

Interesting arguments by those trying to credit Constantine for the Sunday worship... Do read the writings of Justin the Martyr in his dialogue with Trypho (a Jew) when he talks about the Lord's Day. Just so folks know... Justin the Martyr lived at least 100+ years before Constantine (if my math is correct). In the light of that dialogue, the question becomes... Did Constantine establish the Church or did the Church influence the emperor's decision. 😊

Thank you for the advice on spacing and paragraphs.
I have spent many years on the subject and bit by bit it began to fall into place. I am Catholic, and when I married 23 years ago, my wife was Evangelical, but 18 years ago she became a Seventh day Adventist - so I felt that I had to research the issue. I hope you have seen both parts of my comments.
About 4 years ago I began writing things down and put them together from many aspects of scripture - beginning with the first 2 chapters of Genesis - the account creation. This is after all a First-Day - Seventh-Day issue.
I have heard many presentations on both sides, and I wanted to make sense of it although I was not confused by it - I just wanted a systematic approach.
I spent three years alone on Genesis 1 & 2 - begin at the beginning I thought, and so I looked at how on day-one of creation God said "Let there be light" but then - like many others I began to question what this light was before the sun and moon and stars were created - the light couldn't be from them - so what was it.
Then I looked into the Hebrew text - I don't know Hebrew - but looked up translations and was amazed that in the Hebrew the word for light on day-one of creation is different from the Hebrew word for light on the fourth day - when the sun and moon were created. Since the Hebrew said, "Let (uncreated) light be!" I began to realise that God was declaring "Let Me Who Am The Light Shine Forth." God wasn't creating light but declaring light - and God Declaring means The Word and I began to see that this is what John was writing about in his Gospel.
So Day-One was already a day where God the Father announced the Light of Christ. The Uncreated Light. Day-One is not the day of some pagan God - for paganism never existed - however - I then decided to find out what St. Augustine said about creation and found out that he studied the same issue.
St Augustine went to the Book of Job and saw that God Himself speaking to Job saying, "Where were you when I created the sun and moon and stars - for the angles were full of joy at their creation." Augustine realised that the angles must have existed before the sun and moon and stars because the angles were in joy. Augustine figured that they must have been created on that first day - since it is their job to reflect the Light of God - hence the name Lucifer. At the moment of their creation they have to choose God or reject Him.
Then the Ten Commandments speak for themselves - but in Deuteronomy Moses tells us that the Ten Commandments are more than rest and creation but Exodus.
It's just about making connections and listening to many theologians about many topics - such as when Jesus takes up the mountain three deciples like Moses took up Aaron and his two sons and how Jesus is the New Moses and that the conversation Jesus had with Moses and Elijah - they were talking about Christ's soon to come EXODUS - his death and resurrection.

When did Jesus say, I want you all to STOP keeping the 7th Day Sabbath, which is the 4th Commandment, and make Sunday your new Sabbath??? Did Jesus say it, or did the Roman Catholic Church say it??? Everything that you have just said, it what the Roman Catholic Church told you, but Jesus Himself NEVER TOLD YOU THIS! God said, REMEMBER THE SABBATH, but the Roman Catholic Church is telling you to FORGET THE SABBATH. The Roman Cathlic Church said Sabbath is on a Sunday, but God said the Sabbath is from Friday Sundown, to Saturday Sundown. So you tell me who is telling us the truth, the Roman Catholic Church or God?

We're witnessing firsthand how the transition from Saturday to Sunday is affecting not only our spiritual life but even our physical health. The Sabbath, given to us for rest and recreation in Him (Bible & nature), holds even greater significance in light of the complexities brought about by sin. Jesus' resurrection on Sunday underscores His observance of the Sabbath, affirming the unchanging nature of the 10 commandments therefore His sacrifice on the cross was essential for our salvation. If the law would have been changed, it wouldn’t be necessary for Jesus’ sacrifice but because His law is unchangeable a sacrifice was provided for us so we can be called children of the King

Biblically correct. The first day of the week is a work day and not sanctified like the seventh. The day of the sun (Sunday) is a pagan fertility ritual adopted and "Christianized" by the papacy without any Biblical support.

@@alongcamejones309 Thank you for the info. I did not watch these videos for I did not know which one and they are 2 hours long. However, I was curious so I googled it and I do see many talk about a few instances where you are right and when it says "forever" it does not mean forever. It does almost always mean for as long as possible like by Hannah but it is only for as long as she is alive. You could always say sabbath is also only as long as possible so I agree it wouldn't prove that this means forever with just the word "forever". This is why I enjoy commenting on these videos because it gets me thinking about things I would not have noticed before and educates me and actually reinforces my belief so much.
That being said, there is actually a noticeable difference when it says "forever" in many situations including the sabbath. When mentioning the Sabbath and many more times when mentioning the commandments in general, it always accompanies forever with "throughout your generations" or "for your children" or "for your offspring". I can't say this proves it is really forever but there is a reason why this is and I don't know of any instances where these words accompany the word forever and it doesn't really mean forever. There are no extra words in the bible so this is telling me something. I think it seems pretty clear it means any child ever born after you which would mean FOREVER.

' All ' just means a majority and the Greek word for World 'GE' can also equally mean Earth , World , Land. So I see this verse in Rev 13 as saying : The majority of the inhabitants of the Roman Empire approved and supported and admired their Emperor and their Pagan Roman Empire. Fr. Mike, will you please help me? theres a quote ive been searching for by an author or speaker. i think its a woman author and i think it might be Margaret Barker.
the quote is something like, "if a person wants to understand what jewish temple worship looked like in the first century, he only needs to witness the Latin mass." or "the Latin mass is the best modern reflection of first century temple worship."
I have a friend who is in a Hebrew Roots cult. i grew up evangelical myself and have been making my way towards Rome for years now.
so while not yet being catholic myself, i would like to see that quote again to know more of its context and primary source, and also to share with well-meaning Christians i know who might be led astray by over-emphasized Jewish worship or outright appropriation of Jewish tradition. i believe the quote, but i cant just say it without backing it up. and i know great thinkers have already gone before me so i dont have to dig through the mass and the bible myself and become an expert.
The problem is i only saw the quote in a image once, and for over a year now that image has evaded me. and when i google it, i only get articles that arent useless but just arent what im looking for. theyre often polemical: by catholics, for catholics, with the common presuppositions that catholics have about priests, magisterium, and tradition. there are few resources for bible thumping protestants to explore and 'see' catholicism in a new light.
One specific thing would be what the priest does before mass. The friend i mentioned is a worship leader at this hebrew roots church, so he takes the priestly duty to lead the congregation through a song of welcoming, one of repentance, and then one of celebration. this is how most new age churches do it, and my friend told me it reflected ancient Jewish attitudes during temple worship.
what astonished me was the week prior, an Orthodox priest i am friends with said the same thing about his customs as he leads the Divine Liturgy.
i cant get caught up in polemics or a wild goose chase or unfamiliar or extra-biblical ideas. To be honest, i think i want a peek behind that curtain to be able to show with simple logic, the bible, the catholic mass itself, and jewish practice as described in the bible that the catholic mass is a perfect illustration of that model of jewish practice
any help at all would be appreciated, but if you can point me to the primary source for that quote i will cash app you 20 dollars.

Hi friend Read the 4th commandment of God in exodus chapter 20 verse 8 the one Jesus wrote with his own finger
It's impossible to have a sabbath every day of the week
If you have a sabbath every day of the week Then your breaking your own religion law of laziness one of the 7 capital sin of your church
So the 7th day sabbath is a break from our labours and we sacrifice one day that Jesus created so man kind could build a relationship with Jesus father in heaven
If you rest every day of the week how do you survive ?
Jesus told Adam for his sin he would sweat from his brow
Eve sin she would bare children in pain
In this world nothing is free
      Being born cost money
      Being raised cost money
      Dieing cost money
Recieving the gospel isn't free anymore
      Every thing cost money
So how can we say every day is our sabbath that means we all become lazy

Fr. Mike, Jews believe that in the Olam Haba, that the day of worship on Sunday. This is evident in the Mishna, Pirkei Avot 4, and in the commentaries. Rabbi Yaakov ben Kurshai, the teacher of Yudah haNassi explains this.
The Sabbath is the vestibule through which one enters into the Olam Haba - the Messianic age. In the banquet room of the Olam Haba, the Lord Himself would lay out the banquet. The Jews believed that the sacrifice in the Olam Haba would be a bloodless thanksgiving sacrifice. The word used by the Hellenic Jews was Eucharist. As the commentaries explain, one must repent of their sins before eating at the banquet feast of the Olam Haba. However, unlike the sacrifice of the lachem hapanim (bread of the presence of G-d) and wine before the Kodesh Hakodashim in the temple which was eaten by priests alone, this thanksgiving sacrifice was to be eaten by all.
The Sabbath itself was understood to be a preparation for the Olam Haba which was to come. It is due to this understanding that the early Catholic Jews referred to Sunday as the Eighth day as the Seventh Day was a preparation of the Eighth day.

Thank you very much for your comment.
There is a lot of need of experts of Jewish teaching and thorough Jewish interpretation of the Torah, like you, to fully understand Catholicism.
Only a few people understand that if your Faith is that the *Jewish Messiah* (Jesus Christ) has arrived then you are Catholic. All the other interpretations do not refer to the *Jewish Messiah.*
(Or, in the best case, they are good ok but seriously *incomplete* interpretations of the Jewish Messiah. In the worst case, they are just pagan stories about a non-Jewish Messiah).

@@lishmahlishmah Well the Tanakh (the Jewish OT) leaves out much, so that the people themselves become the living scripture. The Jewish faith is not based on the Tanakh but on Torah Shebaal Peh. That understanding of the Olam Haba is from the Torah Shebaal Peh (Oral Tradition) and found in the Mishna. G-d forbad Moses from writing the Torah Shebaal Peh because G-d wanted the Jewish people to become the living scripture, the living tradition so that the faith was transmitted from generation to generation through parents and the culture. This is why Christ never wrote a book, He taught the apostles and disciples an oral tradition. Just like Judaism, Catholicism is meant to be transmitted by parents to children and through the culture. Parents are the living scripture to children. This is also why Tradition is so important,

      Peace to you.
In Isaiah 46:10, it says the Father declares the end from the beginning. And if you read the beginning, Genesis 1 and 2, you'll see that in the creation week, there is only one Sabbath and it's on the seventh day. In fact, the biblical festivals of Leviticus 23 start with the weekly seventh day Sabbath, not two sabbaths. Moreover, in Colossians 2:16-17, Paul even says these Sabbath days are shadows of things to come in the future that find their substance in Christ..... please look closely, friend. Sabbaths, new moons, and festivals ARE shadows of things to come, and Sunday is nowhere to be found. Christ is Lord of the Sabbath and states that fact in 3 gospels during the very Sabbath so many Christians deny. Matthew 12, Mark 2, and Luke 6, to be exact.
There are not two sabbaths anywhere within the entirety of scripture. God sanctifies and endorsed the seventh day, which isn't the first day of the week.
Hope this helps a little bit. I pray you are well, and stay safe.

Why do you call a man "Father", when "Father" means "one who created". What or who did the priest create? Why do you think it says in the Bible to call no man Father who is not your Father (creator) in Heaven? When you call a priest "Father", it makes you a liar. He did not create anything. It is also an insult to God, called "Blasphemy".

@@marriage4life893 You are correct. God turns his back on Sunday observance, and considers anyone who thinks that Sunday is a special day to be worshipping the Sun. That is why he never allowed a change to rename the day, so people would have "no excuse". The resurrection did not happen on Sunday, it happened just before sunset on Saturday, and even if it did the day of the resurrection does not make that same day a special day every week. That is Satanic reasoning. God also views the cross as a symbol AGAINST CHRIST. That is what killed him (actually it was a POLE (Stauros) not a cross). Having the cross as a symbol is a violation of the Second commandment, which forbids religious symbols. The beast that comes up out of the Earth in Revelation 13 is the Vatican, when it became its own country in 1929. They already put a cross on the forehead and right hand in some ceremonies. A better translation is "Symbol of the Beast". People will consider themselves to NOT have the "Mark of the Beast", with a cross on their forehead, claiming to be a Christian, but they DO have the "Mark (Symbol) of the Beast", which is ANTICHRIST. That is why Jesus (Yeshua) will say to them, "I never knew you".

@@starjetpilot Thank you for your reply. I am not sure if what God thinks of those who consider Sunday a special day of worship, therefore, I don't want to give out eternal judgments that are not for me to give.
In Acts 2, it states that the new believers worshiped daily in the temple and each other's homes. So, worshipping on the first day of the week is not wrong. We should worship daily, but that does not negate the command to remember the Sabbath day at all. Meanwhile, when Christ rose from the dead, it was the fulfillment of the biblical festival of the giving of the sheaf offering during the harvest season between Unleavened Bread and Pentecost.
Do you notice how Sunday is kept in remembrance of the resurrection but once a year his resurrection is solemnly celebrated in spring?
Now, look at the Sabbath. God commands that we remember the Sabbath every seventh day, and in Deuteronomy 5:15, he instructs us to remember our deliverance from bondage on that same day. But every year we are to remember our deliverance from bondage through the annual Passover.
So once a year and every week, God commands we remember our deliverance during Passover and the weekly Sabbath.
But the church today says no, and insists we are to remember resurrection every first day and once a year on the first Sunday following the first full moon of the spring equinox.
One set of remembrance is commanded by God and the other established through tradition of men in the name of God.
I don't say that to be rude, but only one can be true and another a counterfeit. I just pray for eyes to be opened, and hearts to be receptive. It's been over a millenia of this tradition being taught as a command of God, so only the spirit of God can turn the tide. I was not aware of Sabbath for 30+ years, and I went to Bible College. But God is good and his mercy has been abundant towards me.

@@marriage4life893 God considers people who observe Sunday as a religious "special" day to be worshipping the Sun, which is why it is called "SUNday". God refuses to communicate with, or recognize, anyone who thinks that they should go to church on Sunday. The resurrection did NOT happen on Sunday, that is only the day they found the tomb empty. Even if the resurrection happened on Sunday, that does not make Sunday a special day every week. The day of the week of the resurrection is irrelevant. If God would have wanted us to recognize Sunday as a special (holy) day after the resurrection, Jesus would have told the apostles to observe it (he was here for 40 days after the resurrection), but he did not. If the Apostles changed from recognizing Saturday as a special day, to observing Sunday INSTEAD, they would be making up their own religion, which is Satanic paganism. In addition, there was prophecy about the birth of the messiah and about his death and resurrection, so if you celebrate prophecy coming true that makes you a "doubting Thomas", because Thomas only believed the prophecy when it was proven to him that it came true. Celebrate God's word (prophecy), not the fulfilment of that prophecy. When God says that something is going to happen, believe it, celebrate the prophecy itself, not the fulfilment of that prophecy. The whole Bible is about teaching us to trust God, and Satan says, "Don't trust God", and Satan would have you believe that if God's prophecy comes true it is only by unrelated coincidence.

There is not only a clear (and great) biblical theological meaning for the Christian Shabbat "shift".
The Resurrection with the liberation of mankind from sins and from Death is certainly the main reason. No doubt: that's the true Shabbat. Now, you always must count 7 days starting from the Resurrection day.
(The Resurrection Day is the Feast and the Rest. Shabbat in ancient Hebrew means "Rest").
But there is also a contingent historical reason: in the first 3 centuries of Christianity, the Christian Jews were expelled from the synagogues and they were persecuted.
Also for this reason they had to meet secretly, on a different day.
They usually met early in the morning on the first day after Saturday, before heading to work. In this way, Christians celebrated the day of the Resurrection in the right very early morning time (described in the New Testament),
and at the same time they lived under the persecution which in any case had forced them to gather on that working day.
We must always keep in mind that (in the first 3 centuries of christianity) the Roman Empire allowed Judaism but persecuted Christianity.
The Christian faith was born as a faith fiercely persecuted by all the people. For 3 centuries, gathering on Sunday is viewed with suspicion throughout the Empire. At the cost of their lives, Christians defended the Day of the Lord. Persecuted by everyone, they decided to defend the Day of the Lord because for us Christians: that's the Holy 8th day.
Our beloved Jewish Fathers had told us: it was the Messianic Era Sabbath foreseen by Israel. The well-known 8th day.
In the same historical period, Jews who did not believe in Christ and Christians who believed in Christ, they split sharply in order to distinguish their 2 identities:
the Jews were distinguished with their Sabbath on Saturday,
the Christians with their Sabbath on Sunday. The "divorce" was done. Full stop.
    Who were right?
    Who is right?
    Both of them!
If you believe that the Messiah has not yet arrived you must celebrate on Saturday! The Word of God is clear and your key is the Creation week, together with the Israel Tradition of Saturday/Shabbat.
If you believe that the Messiah has arrived (Jesus Christ Son of God, Our Savior) you must celebrate on Sunday! Because the Word of God is clear and Jesus Christ is the key to understand everything in the Israel history and in the world history (Creation & Redemption).
    What should we do today?
For a Christian, it would be a good idea to do both days. (Some Christian groups do it).
But if he can't celebrate for 2 days a week, he must know that the true Christian Sabbath is Sunday.
(Btw. In Italian the word is: Domenica = The Lord's Day. We have no pagan Sun-day in Italian language. And we have no pagan Saturn-day. In Italy, the day before Domenica is Sabato, derived from Latin Sabbatum and from Greek Sabbaton, derived from Hebrew Shabbat / Shabbaton).
    Shalom 🌿

In Genesis, during creation week, God does not assign names to the days of the week. They are ordinal, cardinal, and nominal in their existence. In Hebrew, the week is spoken just as it's written in Genesis- 1st day, 2nd day, and so on. This makes a "Sunday sabbath" impossible to fall in the first day of the week because the Sabbath is the seventh day. God calls the seventh day the Sabbath while the other days of the week continue to have numerical names. No church has the authority to change what God Himself established since creation, even if you place Latin and pagan names to the days. It doesn't change a thing. There are not 2 weekly sabbaths, but only one, and it has never changed. Did Jesus resurrect on the first day? Cool. Let's make it a holy day of obligation by celebrating it on the fifth day of the week. We know the scriptures say they saw the tomb was empty on the first day, but the number 5 in gematria is the number of grace, so let's rule that remembering the first day resurrection on the fifth day fulfills the obligation of the Sabbath day command.
.... I'm being sarcastic, but I hope you get my point.

@Marriage4life The truth is that God also set aside other days as "holy." "On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you" (Leviticus 2:27). It is obvious that the "tenth day" of the month is not a Sabbath. The fact is that there are various things in the Old Testament that were holy, but which were confined to the Old Testament period, and were not included in New Testament practices. "These are the appointed times of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the LORD -- burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each day's matter on its own day" (Leviticus 23:37). We would agree that burnt offerings are not a part of the New Covenant, even though God said they were "holy."

@@marriage4life893 This question comes to mind. If the church met on Saturday, then why would Paul instruct them to come the next day for the collection? These early Christians did not have the luxury of having Sunday off as most of us do. Many were slaves, and would rise before dawn to meet with fellow Christians before going to their delegated tasks. It would make no sense for them to be commanded to meet the second time just to make their contribution. Since this is a clear command, I have asked members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church if they came together on Sundays for this purpose. None that I have asked have admitted they did so. If this is a command, why do they ignore it?

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 Год назад +1

@Marriage4life The Sabbath is not a law instituted at creation but under the Mosaic Covenant. Some say that the Sabbath is a command of God given in Genesis. To interpret Genesis 2:1-3 as a law given to humanity is in error. Though sin abounded, God gave no law until Moses. Paul states in Romans 5:13-14 that there was no law given from the time of Adam until the time of Moses. Furthermore, from Adam to Moses, there is no record in Scriptures of anyone keeping the Sabbath (especially during the period of Egyptian slavery captivity). In Genesis 2, it is called the seventh day and not the Sabbath. It is a description of what God did, not what God requires of man. To interpret Genesis 2:1-3 as a law also requires to create light on Sundays and animals on Friday. From the plain reading of the text, there is no reason to conclude that God intends to view every seventh day to be holy. Rather, it is quite possible to interpret that God declares that particular day, the actual seventh day, as holy. Interpretations which add (such as saying that God rested on the seventh day to establish the Sabbath) an underlying reason why God declares the day holy, is adding to the text.

Even the Anti-Christian mob falsely labeled Easter as a Pagan holiday didn't realize every Sunday in the Church is a mini-Easter in which Christians celebrate the Day of our Lord's Resurrection. Even if a Pagan holiday fell upon Easter in Pagan celebrations it was never about our Lord's Resurrection yet alone is celebrated on every Sunday of the year.
In relation too Good Friday every Friday in the year is a Day of Penance. Many Christians are unaware on Fridays Christians are suppose to do an act of penance. Since the early Church Christians would abstain from eating meat on Fridays unless a Solemnity was on a Friday as major feast days Solemnities were meant to be a celebration of feasting and drinking which is why abstaining from eating meat wasn't done on those days.

    Sexta-feira - Friday
    Sábado - Saturday
Saturday is the day of the Sabbath, the bible says so, stop the Western shenanigans and "translations".

I'm sure it is OK if it is celebrated on Sunday due the new covenant with Lord Jesus if you want to see it that way.
