Peter, you've done it again! Yup,I agree,Shabbos is literally the highlight of our week. And,if I may just add,all over the jewish religious world, not limited to chassidim per se(except of course the chassidic garb)
I do want to elaborate on a point which I'm not sure came through enough:
The reason why Shabbos is so special,is because it reminds us every week again of our role and purpose in this world.
When G'd created man,HE gave him permission to conquer it, to develop and to use the planet's resources. However, all too easily could man forget himself and overstep his bounderies by exploiting the world and fellow man in his quest for conquer. He needs constant reminding of the fact that the world isn't his to own,but merely to look after with care. That affects both his relationship with nature and fellow man. Both the planet and fellow human ought to be respected, cared for and dealt with fairly.
Shabbos is there to remind man of his responsibilities; by refraining from all activities which are generated by the human mind, he's constantly being reminded that the he,as acomplished as he might be in developing the world by the use of his sophisticated mind, ultimatly,he is not in charge and the planet isn's his to own. That generates humility. It's with this lesson in mind that we aproach the following week. Understanding what our responsibilities ought to be and Who we're subject to.
Note, that the forbidden activities on shabbos aren't necessarily activities which require bodily effort, but activities which are born of a result of the human mind. Like lighting fire(or in today's times, all matters related to electricity..)
It's not the animal like body which is put to the test, but the sophisticated human mind.
This is the deeper lesson of shabbos and that's why shabbos is called" the covenant between the Jew and his Creator "( proclaimed in the words in the kiddush, the blessing over the cup of wine at the onset of the meal)
Aside from the "don't does "on shabbos, there's a special obligation to honor the shabbos with special food, drink, clothing set aside for shabbos. I think that part came across very well in the video.
Needless to say that different families have different means and most aren't as elaberate, however, they all, across the board will save the best and finest for shabbos. Even little children know that goodies are bought for shabbos..
    One more note:
Peter mentioned the meal being jovial and lighter than expected. Yes,there's great atmosphere around the table, but the conversation also includes discussing the part of the bible which is read in the synagoge that week(a different portion every week), it's meaning and lessons for us. Children contribute to the conversation by sharing all they've learned ,stories are being told. Like I said, shabbos carries a message,to remind us of man's connection to G'd and his purpose in this world and that's reflected in the conversation at the table. Not in a heavy, stiff or boring way, but rather in an intelectual, interesting way, keeping both kids and adults entertained.
I thank you Peter, and your hosts for allowing viewers across the globe that get an idea as to why shabbos is so sacred to us,and please note again, that the beauty and unique atmosphere isn't dependant on the exterior of the home, but you'll find the warmth and the joy and the delicious food in very simple homes too!!!

Let me be clear “I NEVER HAD BAD INTENTIONS OR HAD ANY BAD THOUGHTS ON THEIR COMMUNITY’ it was simply just the norm to not interact with the Jewish community especially being Hispanic in a mostly Hispanic community like Hudson county in NJ. The lifestyle of someone in the Jewish community was always very secretive or at least that’s how it came off. Now fast forwarding into today and watching all of Peter’s videos around the Jewish community, I am very happy and very thankful to watch and learn. I Now for sure have so much more knowledge, respect and appreciation for the Jewish community I really do. I also find it my duty to teach others on what I have learned its the right thing to do. In a world like the one we live in today I think all religions should really capture certain high points of each other’s religions, something as simple and beautiful like the meaning of Sabbath is very interesting and seems to be a very necessary reset for our minds, our bodies and our world. I will say this, I really feel the Jewish community should begin to take some interest in educating others about their culture and their religion, I really feel that its necessary and would only bring good to the table. Thank You for the videos and sorry that it took me so long to understand and appreciate.

Chaim Potak’s brother was the rabbi at the conservative temple my parents chose when we moved away from the family and the local synagogue there. As a matter fact, it was in Nanuet New York, which is maybe 10 minutes from Pomona. Give or take a few minutes.
Last I knew my mother was still upset with him for making me leave Hebrew school due to missing too many days due to the “Jewish disease” that I have and travels to the NIH couple times a year for a couple weeks each and then eventually every other week for a day.
When my mom and I were having trouble with each other 😂 I was allowed to go live with my aunt and uncle and cousins in Queens. And they gave me a choice since I wasn’t orthodox prior to that of public school or yeshiva and I chose the yeShiva as well as some new skirts and dresses 😂 and a very nice fellow student tutored me often and we met at the kosher pizzeria at lunchtime… I could not even get the alphabet down in Hebrew. or the aleph bet I should say.
I have always wished my parents stay closer to family and then my husband was from New Jersey so now I’m another hour further from the bulk of the family. Although half of them on one side moved to Israel.
Because I stay with my grandmother, or at my aunts house quite often I was very used to keeping Shabbos and going to the shul. I miss the family atmosphere. I really don’t know anywhere where I currently live. I sat here in floods of tears watching them light the candles, etc.
My family never made us feel bad for not knowing XYZ but now that we have a new members who have married into the family (and my aunt and uncle raised their kids orthodox too like my grandparents, but my cousins are even more religious) and I’m always afraid to say something stupid, or embarrass myself or my family.
I miss everyone tho. My best friend still lives in Rockland county I have a move from Nanuet to Nyack. Maybe I’ll go visit and I can get an invite for Shabbos dinner with Shlomo and his family. 😂 😊❤ I’ve actually caught a couple of his videos. And I believe I subscribe, but I haven’t seen them in my feed lately. So I will have to go check it out.

God made them very intelligent. He gave them a lot of insight personally into many things, this even having to do with the Mosaic Law. Thus I understood from someone who asked a Jewish woman once about this, that they literally praise the living day lights out of a kid, makes them to believe they are best, a lot of self-confidence makes them a go-getter : )) in every way.

People are individuals. They are a product of their lived experiences, upbringing, education, parenting, peers, self-motivation, etc. They are not predisposed to be any particular thing just because of their ethnicity/religion/race/sex, etc. any more than they are doomed/fated to have a particular quality because of their astrological sign. I worked for a orthodox Jewish family here in Los Angeles. When I tell you, they were the nicest people EVER!!!! Just very down to earth and respectable. I can say, I learned a lot working with them. Anytime they educated us about their religious "do's and don'ts...", It never came off condescending, ever. You can tell that they were really at peace with life.
Oh, and Fridays were the best. All the orthodox employees left at 11am to make it home for the Sabbath and the rest of us chilled. It kinda set the mood for our weekend too.

Looking at your picture you actually look like one of the real Jews. The so called “black” people are actually real Jews from tribe of Judah. Check out Hebrew Israelites for the truth on these people. I was fooled by them by years till I got a visit from “Jesus” which his name is actually YAHAWASHI.

Excellent job, Peter. You do a great service to the world. Following the events of October 2023, I just wish so many in the world who are expressing grotesque anti-semitism would just take the time to see the beauty of the humanity embodied by these wonderful people.

This was so beautiful to watch. I've always had such a deep admiration and respect for the Jewish people and culture and the more I learn about it, I just find it so beautiful. Especially the way spirituality is truly incorporated into everyday life as opposed to happening alongside life, or as an afterthought. As an African American woman, i'm struck by how often this lovely family brought up their collective trauma (ie the Holocaust) and how openly it's discussed amongst the family. African American's have a huge cultural trauma as well but in my family and in others that I've observed it's really not talked about until the problems resulting from it are front and center, in your face and impossible to ignore. Makes me wonder about how trauma is processed if you actually speak about it and don't hide from it and put it on the table and have discussions like this. Wonderful video.

The house did not have thhose extra vases or clocks or flowers or mirrors or curio cabinets or china cabinets. There was furniture but less than i expected.

Peter, as a religious Jew who has spent many Shabbaton with the chassidic community, I hope you realise what a rare honour it is for you to be let into a household such as this for Shabbat. It is testament to the sensitivity and open mindedness you’ve shown in this series about the community. You’ve shown yourself to be a gentleman and your videos really do stand as a unique record of the chassidic world. Would love to see more videos like this ... see if you can get an invite for havdallah. Thank you & keep doing what you’re doing.

I love how the family unit will forever remain strong just because they can come together every week, no matter what (unless there is some something just cannot be avoided). My family has nothing to do with each other, holidays included. I would love to be able to do this, even without religion, just to keep those bonds strong. Hooray for traditions!

I always think that it's the leaders of communities, Jewish communities perfect example, that have the most to lose from their flock being more culturally diverse. Basically our great Rabbi's are reallly our greatest enemies. Famous line goes like this, "to see who rules over you, find out who you can't criticize".
