The idea behind the resale value being used to grade or judge the success of Yeezy and the Adidas brand is not well researched. Here's why, when the sneaker resale value was at $4000+ a pair, adidas only saw the profit based on the orginal $220 selling point. So whether they sell out and resale for $50,000 or $20 bucks shouldn't matter because it still sold out. Additionally, what this video fails to realize is that Adidas uses the magnetic appeal of Yeezy to sell more of its other products such as the Ultraboost. The Ultraboost is $40 cheaper, has the same boost comfort sole, and comes in a variety of colors as well. So when people can't land on the Yeezy, they inevitably go towards to the Ultraboost which does share similar stylistic looks to the Yeezy 350. You can say the same thing about the Adidas Yung models, they look very similar to the Yeezy 700 and Yeezy 500. This forced association is only further propagated when Kanye steps out wearing Ultraboosts. Lastly, when analyzing the market of hypebeasts/early adopters vs parents buying their kids something special, there is A LOT more brand loyalty and larger market for the parents. Hypebeasts will consistently look for new designs, less frequent drops, and for clout. Whereas parents and the vast majority of other shoppers won't care much for that stuff at all. THIS, is why the Yeezy has increased its production so much. The Adidas CEO simply looking at the Yeezy numbers doesn't truly quantify the impact and pulling power of the Yeezy brand.
you're missing the point about resale prices. Resale prices are relevant in that they indicate supply and demand. Since resale prices have plunged, it shows supply has met demand. That's how you know how much demand there really is for Yeezys. He is a certified gastroenterologist and makes more than 500,000 dollars a year, lives in a new york apartment, and has a 100,000 dollar shoe collection.
When you realize Jordan went to Nike because of creative freedom when Adidas couldn't do it, then jump into the 2010s and Kanye leaves Nike for Adidas because they allowed more creative freedom. Just food for thought
I feel like people are missing the point. Jordan brand is decades in the game while Yeezy is relatively new, especially when only considering the Adidas models. Kanye is trying to ultimately grow the brand to a point where it is both wanted and yet attainable. The "Yeezys are dead" tweets may be true for internet hypebeasts that only care about rarity, but there's still plenty of people that would like them but rarely even see them, especially when you're outside of the biggest metro areas. He's still selling out even the biggest drops whether it takes longer than usual or not, whereas Jordan brand releases retro models all the time that end up on sale racks without anyone calling Jordans dead. I foresee a point where Yeezy will have some flagship models that sell at scale without a resale market, while still having limited models and colorways that resale for multiple times their MSRP.
One of those #yeezysaredead tweets was satire from chegg. Nobody truly believes they're dead. Just new kids and stockx manipulating the market further downwards.
Exactly and even Jordan in the begging wasn't calling their shoes retro. Ye needs to release the classic models first before they start doing ideas like retroing shoes. Yeezy is still a baby compared to Nike. But then again today's world is extremely fast paced. 🤔😒
@@adisharma3737 I agree, but Yeezy might end up there eventually. The 350 is so heavily imitated that I see young kids and moms wearing knock offs not even realizing it's a Yeezy design. And maybe the 350 won't ever be considered a classic but he might release a true classic one day, which is impressive for a non athlete.
Even if Kanye dropped the shoes off at only schools for $50, the resellers would be hanging out in the schoolyards trying to buy the shoes from the kids, instead of wearing a pair and getting a job.
Boost technology is amazing, and we are finally in a time that we can get in a store and get yeezys for 200€ that is more or less the same as ultra boosts. Now is actually best time for yeezys where the whole sport shoes market can get them and not only “hype beasts”...

Exactly. Simply making shoes more available doesn't make them less desirable. If they produced more and lowered the price point their profit margins would increase and more people would get to own them. But then they couldn't build the hype - it's fashion 101. If i'm wrong why has the rep industry blown up in terms of quality and quantity? Yeezy are playing the long game - like Jordan brand - so they can finesse school kids when they're older and cash in on their brand's hype, they're hoping nostalgia and fomo will override sensibility and inflate the market. They're sell outs charging more for less quality shoes over time whilst reserving the best pairs, customs, early drops etc for the rich and famous.
I rarely go after shoes personally i only have a few pairs, but there are rare shoes i do have and loved, yeezy 350 and 450s are my personal favorites. Mad respect
sneaker heads and scalpers are like the worst kind of people that's gotta be out there. bro, collecting shoes and inflating the prices is not an identity.

Orlando Donis Resellers are just salty, because they cant sell a 220$ sneaker for 600$+. Im glad that yeezys become cheaper, because I now feel comftable buying a pair or two.

The animations were also hilarious! Like the shoes falling off the sky from an airplane! @@helenzhao5471 i agree with Helen. Ultraboosts are already considered outdated and none trendy aswell. Not sure who would still buy them lol
i like the ultraboost more
rich people don't want to fight to get a shoe... every Japanese fight for it...
hamachikama yall care about the wrong things, first of all, UB are performance shoes.. function before fashion.. the Ub was sold in a cool way at first, but now its just a running shoe. And we always would need a running shoe. A man said outdated? When was the last time you been in the gym? Guaranteed you wont see no hyped shoes fool
I'm so tired of these clowns acting like something has to be ultra limited to be dope. I don't care how dope a shoe is if no one can get it who cares.
Can we get the sequel vid? Titled "How Kanye West destroyed Yeezy".
I also love his breathy singing voice. I sometimes turn it up to fill my home and i smile.
They completely ignored the fact that some Yeezy boost shoes are actually comfortable to wear & look hot. Forget about bragging rights and clout for a minute.
Yeah a friend of mine has a pair and oh gosh are they comfortable
Shoes are suppose be comfortable. This is for all type of shoes. Would you walk in shoes too tight for your feet? I would not. Now, for stylish Yeezy design is silly.

Hot?! Rather hot garbage! Please do not tell me that they are hot looking lol
Yes, they are hella expensive, but I got a pair of zebras for Christmas( I’ve had to wear orthopedic shoes my entire life because of a disability) and they are more comfortable than my ultra boosts even with the orthodics
Try the Nike Invincible Zoomx shoes, more comfortable than any boosts

Yup
CL but jordans are classics, the reason sneakers are where they are today is due to the banned 1s
2:41 "Jay-Z's album, 'The Blueprint'" *throws up pic of Blueprint 2*
IGoByTheo “oh there’s 3 of them?”
Even if Kanye dropped the shoes off at only schools for $50, the resellers would be hanging out in the schoolyards trying to buy the shoes from the kids, instead of wearing a pair and getting a job.
Yeezys never lost their hype LOL
Boost technology is amazing, and we are finally in a time that we can get in a store and get yeezys for 200€ that is more or less the same as ultra boosts. Now is actually best time for yeezys where the whole sport shoes market can get them and not only “hype beasts”...
"Kanye West grabbed the fashion world's attention"
Doesn't say a single word about the Yeezy Season line completely separate from Adidas

yeezys are actually soooo comfortable and well made. i bought my first pair of 350’s last week and already have my second pair arriving in a few days
The scavengers are just mad they can't resell them for 15 times the retail price.
Who's here after Kanye West became a billionaire?
I buy Yeezy’s for the comfort. I’m able to walk around and stand all day in them without my feet hurting. They’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, and I don’t mind paying $1100+ for them.
Cool!
what about *foam runner*
@Adam Khan Yeezy the only shoes that don't hurt my feet.
Same here! I love the 350s, most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. Worth every penny in my opinion. But haters will always hate.
I doubt they are more comfortable than some Cole haan's...Gucci sneakers cost way less and they feel like ur wearing pillows. Yeezys r all hype.

Doctor sole looks like he is wearing one of those funny glasses with big nose and thick eye brows attached to it lol
I'm not a big Kanye fan but it means a lot that he's still thinking about people who can't drop thousands of dollars on shoes
A sneaker that everyone can afford that, everyone wants, and still cool, doesn’t that describe an AF 1?
@@rickenfatania couldn’t have said it any better 👏
I rarely go after shoes personally i only have a few pairs, but there are rare shoes i do have and loved, yeezy 350 and 450s are my personal favorites. Mad respect

sneaker heads and scalpers are like the worst kind of people that's gotta be out there. bro, collecting shoes and inflating the prices is not an identity.
also, who pays a premium for a shoe, that's only expensive because of artificial scarcity, is pretty much dumb. if you are willing to spend so much, just get something of true quality. there are enough expensive shoes out there that are actually worth their money.
People will say Yeezys arent special anymore but YET they still sell out

I personally Hate Resellers, but i know everyone needs to make bread but that doesn't mean you need to be ok with that.
Orlando Donis Resellers are just salty, because they cant sell a 220$ sneaker for 600$+. Im glad that yeezys become cheaper, because I now feel comftable buying a pair or two.
In my religion taking a big interest rate in loaning money/selling things is one of the biggest sins. I would never buy anything at the bigger price than what its worth and i blame stupid people for giving into hype and resellers being greedy.
Excellent video! I really love how thorough their research always is and being able to find out the evolution of the resale price on the black market over several months for example... The animations were also hilarious! Like the shoes falling off the sky from an airplane! Imagine if that did actually happen that way xD I don't know if people would be thrilled about having to dodge shoes falling on their heads haha! and I guess it's also interesting to learn more about Kanye's obsession for coming up with new things to excel at!
