The sneaker resale market is something that I’ve been seeing more and more about (because I just bought a pair of Jordan 1’s). Applying their stock market framework (bids and asks) was not only good marketing and style, but it does create a de facto market value for the shoes. Even if some sneakerheads don’t like stockx, most of them now refer to the stockx price as the going rate of that shoe. Really cool way to improve the resale market of sneakers - or anything.

@@Unknown16 I think you're missing my point. Just in case if you didn't catch it. Near the end of the video. The co-founder of stock X is basically saying is, if you think 200 dollars is expensive for a pair of shoes. I never thought that sneakers may one day become a Luxury item only for the rich. But when you have people not of the culture, that does not give 2 F#$% about sneakers and is just there to manipulate the market and Drive up prices. These are the consequences.
When Jordan's and kanye's shoes' MSRP is 200-250. Yeah they're luxury items. Shoes should cost that much, especially jordans, they're 30 year old shoe still being made with worse materials, and made in small quantities. So yes, only the rich who can afford to overpay for an average product will be able to buy certain shoes. That's how "the culture" has always been, the haves and the have nots. It's always been like that, its just more obvious now when only the rich are seem in the products, and you cant get them because they're sold out or too overpriced.

What is meant by the sneaker market being worth 2 billion dollars? Like do all the outstanding sneakers being sold add up to be worth around 2 billion dollars?
“and the white man get paid off all of that” would have been nice to see some more diversity on the investors / founders side. since sneaker culture would not be were it is without the black community buying them and making them cool

I hate josh's idea in the end when he said that demand would set the retail price for the items in the future. that destroys the whole sneaker culture and only rich people who don't know about the shoe would cop
"Transparency" .Why is it, after i sell my shoes on Stock it says i sold for $1-$100 more than my sale price? This is classic manipulation or blatant system failure. Definitely lack of transparency
"let the market set the price" - so let speculators make a shoe go from $150 to $700???? yeah, screw that. also, why do people want to by used shoes?? i don't get it.
The shoes aren't used. They're new. And when supply cant meet demand, the price for that said item increases. It's a very basic concept to understand, and market does set the price. Speculators can ask 700 for a product, but if no one buys them for that price, then they're not a 700 dollar product, someone will offer say 400, and if enough people are willing to pay 400, then the "value" is 400. That's the way things work. Do you think any product we use cost to make what you probably paid for it? No.
That statement about releasing the sneaker directly to them and "let the people determine the price" had to be on e of the most self serving statements I've ever heard in my life!!! Release it to them and it'll always be higher than retail SMH!!!

Pay with a credit card, there is your built in protection. Your credit card company always takes your side, if you feel like you've been wronged, they'll refund you. It'll feel like a long process, but you can rest assured you won't get screwed because you have an extra layer of buyer's protection.

Very interesting and insightful.
Love this and such a great look behind the scenes of the business side of StockX.
Do u want a pair of black cement 3s?
that's really smart. bc i've bought few things that was fake on ebay. it's really fraustrating, especially if you never saw the authentic one and have no real reference if the item you received is real or not. I don't want to spend hours and hours for the mp and like they say, "Authentic" ones. I'm willing to pay money for time saved.
Can somebody please explain why people would pay 600 bucks for sneakers?
Why would you spend over $100 for shoes?
Bought a pair of Nike with bunch of defects and StockX said they allow whatever Nike sells as long as it is authentic. Just FYI
Buy it from flight club or go to a legit store (flight club, stadium goods etc.)
says wants to take away retail price but no one would be able to sell on there anymore
StockX is like the Grand Exchange in Runescape.
They inherited all the shoes??!! Wow 🔥🔥🔥
I almost sent my Kawhi shoes here but the fees are just too much. Ebay is better as long as still have all the proofs.
We will definitely be seeing more marketplaces like StockX and GOAT pop up around any applicable niche. We recently saw Nike leave Amazon (a non niche marketplace) and now is the perfect time for them to acquire StockX and dominate sneaker/luxury goods marketplaces. We broke down why we think Nike should make an acquisition in this short video: ruclips.net/video/hXEv6bLM4yU/видео.html
Nike acquiring StockX?
@@fritzdeuces Foot Locker is already invested in StockX's competitor GOAT.
Yes StockX is killing the Reselling Market.
What is meant by the sneaker market being worth 2 billion dollars? Like do all the outstanding sneakers being sold add up to be worth around 2 billion dollars?
Billion dollars and they can’t add 2fa
“and the white man get paid off all of that”
would have been nice to see some more diversity on the investors / founders side. since sneaker culture would not be were it is without the black community buying them and making them cool
They employ whatever specialist seems qualified enough to them amd skin colour shouldn't have anything to do with that. Employing someone only because they are black is racist.
Stock X had 2 data breached last year and didn’t do anything about it many users got there account hacked. People would go on a shopping spree with your stock X account.
it’s cause their freaking shipping and processing price is really high. It makes a fifteen dollar shirt 33 dollars
GOAT is way better than stockX. A lot of people can attest to that..
klekt all the way
Who tf is gonna put a shoe up to they nose and smell it and just be like: “sorry man, these ain’t legit, I can smell it”
Can’t wait for it to go public
StockX sells high quality replicas
William San not on every piece of clothing/pair of shoes. Are you dumb?
This aged like milk 🥛
I hate josh's idea in the end when he said that demand would set the retail price for the items in the future. that destroys the whole sneaker culture and only rich people who don't know about the shoe would cop
"Transparency" .Why is it, after i sell my shoes on Stock it says i sold for $1-$100 more than my sale price? This is classic manipulation or blatant system failure. Definitely lack of transparency
y r thy refering to it as a stock market? nobodys trading stocks?> y nt an exchange?
Anyone got a discount code for stockX?
No.
Used shoes that are sold are goat are usually worn only one or two times.
Is it crazy that I just started using stockx and I get this in my recommendation or
That statement about releasing the sneaker directly to them and "let the people determine the price" had to be on e of the most self serving statements I've ever heard in my life!!! Release it to them and it'll always be higher than retail SMH!!!
You forgot to mention that stockx sells their customers account/card info and claims it was a "security breach." Customers lost millions of dollars (if not more) because of this.
Stockx is a joke of a company LOL
Reason number 1 they take 20% in fees
I love trading in stockx and if you know how to invest in stock market its like stockx. First in first out
Cashing in on those hype beasts
Wow, i use this all the time to buy and resell.
They scammed me out of my money. They sent me the wrong shoe without their green tag, and then refused to take it back because it did not have the green tag. HORRIBLE COMPANY - LOOK AT THEIR BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINTS, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME
Pay with a credit card, there is your built in protection. Your credit card company always takes your side, if you feel like you've been wronged, they'll refund you. It'll feel like a long process, but you can rest assured you won't get screwed because you have an extra layer of buyer's protection.
@@gilbertoflores7397 I did, already reported to paypal. GOAT also did the same and I will call american express to denounce fraud
For those sneakers heads, you better wear those super over priced shoes you paid for or else life will pass you by 💯😂😭
Uhm actually the prices of stocks change by the second between the hours of 9:30am est to 4pm est Mon-Friday 👀
They sell alot of fake shoes. Imagine their other products like handbags and other stuff. I bet they pump so much fake stuff off their site
Watches
So their goal was to eliminate the resell game and let them be the ones who make the price and sell direct.
How many adds you going to play huh?
