Hey, just wanted to follow up for others. the prying is to get the 2 separate tabs past a metal piece that hold it in place. If you start tapping BEFORE those tabs are slipped up. You will proceed to smash a 2inch square chunk of your windshield like I did. It’s tabs, it won’t just go with more tap.

This worked perfectly on 2014 Ford E350 van. I used a very small blade screwdriver. Very little movement needed. While holding screwdriver in place I gently tapped the morror base with a small rubber mallet, and it slowly moved. You only need a little movement while prying. You never touch the glass. You screwdriver goes up the slot and onto the mounting base, NOT THE GLASS. REMEMBER: YOU DO NOT PRY AGAINST THE GLASS.
Worked great! I was worried about prying against the wind shield but I used the same handled pry bar in the video then tapped it with a small rubber mallet and it came right off. I had trouble putting it back on so I put a little hand soap on my finger then a little water and rubbed it on the side brackets. It slid right back on and clicked with very little effort. Thanks for the video!
So could you tell me what to do next that's where I'm stuck. Do I have to take the peice on windshield off and then replace everything new. Super confused. I would really like to save $$ and do this my self. Thanks!!

Hey. Do you know if the compass is inside of that mirror? My compass won’t calibrate after numerous attempts, but I don’t see anywhere else on my 08 f150 lariat that the compass would be.
An added touch would have been a mirror on the outside of the windshield so we could see how the opposite side looks. As well as maybe show it being removed while off of the windshield. I will look for the tool that you have, I bought something different- 2 straight prongs & could not get it up into the slot, even tried a small screwdriver.
If you don't wanna risk cracking the windshield you can leave the mount on, and replace just the glass part, ( the first plastic piece with the glass and the electronics, by prying on the side of the mirror plastic body(prying along all sides carefuly), it's one piece that's attached to another

Thats the simple part, You forgot to tell them about the hard part ,when you put it back on it always wiggles , then you have to spend 15 more minutes adjusting it to fit tight.
2010 Ford F150 my mirror fell off this morning. The CLIP remains attached to the windshield metal/silver button. HOW do I get the CLIP off without breaking the windshield? Thanks for any help. Inspection is due this month. Always something!

How do you remove the button on the windshield
Hold the button with pliers and heat the glass behind the button with a torch, gently wiggle every couple of seconds until the button comes off.

Hi Tony, if you concern about the wiggle after the mirror is installed just open the bracket on the mirror really gently and then install it
If you applied the pressure necessary when remove it shouldn't wiggle. I will make a video for you on my next chance. Thanks for your reply
