      @TomSNC 7 лет назад +53

      Chris Traut How it is handicapped for a Dlineman? Last time I checked all the calls and changes are for the secondary. Watt sacks BUMS, get neutralized vs good teams, never won a Ring much less league MVP. He's good but he is not on LT level

    • @aengusryan5503
      @aengusryan5503 7 лет назад +51

      Yes we all know this. This what will Belichick does when speaking about other teams right before playing them. He singles out the best players and heaps on praise on them. I'm guess he hopes to make them complacent. Or at the very least not give any bulletin board material. Which a lot of other teams seam to do.

    • @Kingstyles05
      @Kingstyles05 7 лет назад +43

      It's mind control for him. Once those great players he hypes up play against him and get shut down it makes him look better because of his game plan. Also on the flip side if he goes off it validates his statement. Bellichick never loses.

  • @Mordrayso

    I was fortunate enough to watch Lawrance Taylor play for my favorite team. I managed to watch probably 96 percent of the snaps he played over his career. Every player has a highlight real that shows their best plays. Some players were lucky enough to have 16-18 highlights in a single season. Lawrance Taylor would regularly make 8-10 explosive game-changing plays in a game. We mostly see him sacking quarterbacks on his highlight reels but, he regularly beat running backs senseless and was constantly deep down the field in coverage on pass plays. Oh and he had 9 interceptions and one was a 98-yard pick 6 in a Thanksgiving day game against the Detroit Lions. This specific episode of Undisputed brought back some great memories.

      There's a reason why he is the ONLY LB to win league MVP!!

      jacob alterman Jack and Bobby Bell are great, but they didn't change the game way LT did. Even Shannon Sharpe said it... He made Left Tackles famous, he forced Offensive Coordinators to create new schemes just to try and stop him and the only Defensive 'League' Mvp... c'mon man, be realistic.

    LT was my favorite player and I lived in Wash D.C. I remember LT, Carl Banks, Joe Morris, Phil Simms, Mark Bavaro, and Parcells. Man.. that was one of the best teams I've ever watched in the NFL ever. And I don't think you can compare JJ Watt to LT. JJ Watt doesn't have the playoff credentials to even be mentioned in the same sentence. If he can get a couple of rings then we could start giving him GOAT considerations. Until then, we can't include him with the greats.

    Lawrence Taylor, was actually about 6'3" 250lbs (though they listed him at 243-245 lbs). However, he was incredibly explosive, strong and fast for his size (to go along with his various, many times new techniques), thus creating ridiculous match up problems for anyone player regardless of their size (tackles; backs or TE's could not block him alone)

He routinely ran down All-Pro running backs from the BACK SIDE and he stopped running plays coming right at him. He was the DPOY his first two years in the NFL. Film study also has revealed that LT should be credited with 56 forced fumbles plus another 10 forced fumbles that were erase due to incorrect calls by referees.

    Why does everyone assume Bill meant JJ is better or even as good at LT was? I think he meant that he has been one of the most dominant defensive players of late, and you have to gameplan for him every time you face him just like LT. It's like comparing Lebron to MJ: Lebron is an all time great, but comparing his greatness to MJ in terms of game-planning for their dominance doesn't mean he's better than MJ.

    I think we can all agree that jj watt hasn't been the same player from 2 years ago. It's unfortunate but he won't ever play at the same level he had in the past. Those defensive player of the year 2 out of 3 years and then 20+ sacks in 2 years in a row was magical, but he won't do it again.

Von Miller though, YES Von Miller is probably the closest I'm see to LT since Derrick Thomas (RIP). Von Miller also does it in Big Games/Post Season like LT and put the Broncos on his Back and Carried them to a Super Bowl like LT did TWICE! Khalil Mack is coming though he is next up in that conversation as far as comparing and having the impact of LT

    JJ Watt is special, and will be a Hall of Famer, but there's levels to this.
    NO defensive player in NFL history was better than LT, and maybe Reggie White was on his level.
    I've watched the NFL for over 35 years. Maybe Reggie White. Probably not because he wasn't as mobile.
    But Reggie was a great leader and he made others around him better, That's about it.

      Captain Marvel..............Watch the tape. Particularly games against the Redskins so you can see Lawrence Taylor at 240lbs toss 330lb Joe Jacoby to the ground like a rag doll on his way to sacking the quarterback. Watch the tape of the 1988 'Pain Game' vs the New Orleans Saints where Lawrence Taylor had a torn pectoral muscle but managed to get 3 sacks and a 2 forced fumbles to help the Giants win 13-10.
      JJ Watt is a great player but Lawrence Taylor was born 'standing up'. The tendency in the NFL is to elect worthy football players into the Hall Of Fame, after being retired for 5 years, in their first year of eligibility. When Lawrence Taylor retired they should have given him his yellow jacket the minute he submitted his retirement papers.

    Two completely different players 6'3" 240 VS 6'5" 290?????. LT was a finesse style pass rusher with bullrush player mentality! JJ Watt is a bullrush type pass rusher with some finesse abilities! Let's be real, the Tackles now are bigger, faster, stronger, and have become more technical in their game on average! Watt deals with 340-pound linemen regularly and Taylor, albeit smaller than Watt played against 290-305 pound linemen! LT was a good 3-4 OLB and Watt could be a DE in 3-4 or 4-3. It's a much different game when comparing a player that is standing at the snap as opposed to one who is usually in a 3-point stance during the snap. Their jobs have similarities, but an OLB is also expected to go into pass coverage at times when a DE does rarely! This is like comparing apples to tomatoes; they are the same color, but taste much different!

Pepper Johnson was a good addition in 1986, 1x First Team All-Pro. But LT was DPOY his FIRST TWO YEARS in the NFL. LT was also League MVP for the 1986 season. Don't use Pro Bowl appearances as a barometer......its basically a popularity contest.

    I have seen both play. I have very little doubt it is LT. If there were intentional grounding penalty for QBs and less rushing attempts by teams which limits the number of passing attempts by the opposing teams, LT will have far more Sacks than what he ended up with which is still remarkably high. If LT played in this current pass first era, he will probably total 20 or more sacks every single season and his best single season sack total might top 30 sacks. Also, I don't believe they kept track of Tackles for loss back then. This stat will probably shed even more light on the matter. He simply wrecked offenses.

    If Skip wanted to take the position that J.J. Watt was as good as Lawrence Taylor and I was Shannon Sharp, I"d tell Skip, "Go ahead you can take the whole segment, I've only got one thing to say about it." Then, when Skip was done with his analysis, I"d just tell him, "You're an idiot." Taylor is the reason why offenses moved their best player on the line to the left tackle position. When Watt CHANGES the game THEN we can have a discussion. Until then, there's nothing to talk about.

    There is a REASON that, even more than Tyson himself in "Mike Tyson's Punchout" (who *is* actually beatable, it's just next to impossible unless you know the secrets), that Lawrence Taylor was made as the greatest videogame character of all-time in "Techmo Bowl", because he is the greatest LB of all-time (this coming from a diehard Patriots fan who grew up loving LT and despises the Giants now).
    If you were the Giants, you select LT EVERY play, and sack the opposing QB or run down their RB, EVERY play.
    If SOMEHOW LT doesn't sack you, and you manage to get the pass off, he runs back 30...60...80 yards and makes the interception, then takes it to the house!
    And it is IMPOSSIBLE to score an extra point, when you score a TD against the Giants, you settle for 6pts, because he blocks every single extra point you attempt.
