- Finally completed the retrofit on the headlights of my Infiniti Q 50. In this video I share the process of installing the blue ghost controller, demon eyes, and etched lenses, and the components and wiring that enable custom welcome & exit animations as well as sequential turn signals!

This is pretty dope I have custom headlights on my q50 without the demon eyes I always wondered how much went into it and after seeing this man that2k wasn’t that bad I don’t have any of the wires visible no funky controllers hanging around it’s super neat and oem finish all tucked up and away from eye sight

dope thank you for the video i saw a good technique a kid used using masking tape and applying the "etch" vinyl like a actual vinyl and didnt have to remove the lense from the base. also gloves are super legit for stuff like this. im so hyped, literally about to go pick up my first q50 in a couple hours.

Currently running flow series on my q50 headlights do I just plug the blueghozt module onto the power and then the flow series module?
They look awesome. Reason you can't use one controller for the demon eyes and the halos is because the halos are individually adressable and have a controller inside of each led on the halo. They are also controlled with just 3 wires where as the demon eyes do not have any controllers on board the led so they need one main controller to control them and they use 4 wires usually unless there is a dedicated white led which will be 5 wires. It would be possible to make a controller that can do both but it would be costly and complicated

Are you able to keep the DRL’s on when the headlights turn on? Mine shut off.
So I traded headlights with someone that had the light trendz kit, and I downloaded the magic led app for it and the controller won’t pop up. The lights drew power and showed it white and then the rainbow. Do you think I have any problems on my

Would the Drl wires be going to pin 2 ? And would they also stay on at night with low beams using pin 2 ?

I'm pretty sure its the exact same hardware, just with the signal split. I say this because my "4 output" was just the same signal with 2x2 splitters

I have got everything to do my headlights atm other then the lightingtrendz flow series drl kit which is supposed to be delivered this Thursday. I’m wondering what kind of glue did you use to put the projector lenses back into its housing?
Also I didn’t go with a blueghost controller atm. I know all your animations look bad ass but Idk if I wanna mess with all that right now. Do you think it’s worth the extra money and time to do the blueghost as opposed to the Bluetooth controllers from lightingtrends and diode dynamics?

re: glue - I used permatex super glue (its just what we had in the kitchen drawer lol) - has held up fine so far
re: blueghozt - cant go wrong either way, but honestly i wish i would have known about the blueghozt first time round. the animations are a cool bonus but the true power of it is its ability to always be on, and respond to triggers from the car (door open, turn signals, lights on, etc).
Also, def consider it if you think you might expand beyond just headlights/DRLs. I didn't plan to, but I ended up adding my LED emblem, DRL turn signals, and underglow - all powered by the blueghozt - its a beast.
@@SquareWheelsAuto ok cool I’ll check out the blueghostz controller and see if it’s for me. I would like to add an led emblem at some point and I like the switchback drl turn signals on yours so maybe it’s worth buying.
Drop in a Morimoto 3" STi-r glass lens on the projector. The OEM ones are plastic. Remove the plastic OEM, cut off the 3 little alignment nubs. The new glass one does not need to be glued back on as the chrome housing will secure the lens in place very well with no glue or brackets needed. Result is a blue cut-off and improved clarity. Worth the extra $60.00 bucks for the lens. I did mine when i smoked out the Cress and amber side reflector.
Yep I did mine too when I ripped out all the lightingtrends crap and switched over to Glowe. so on the ln 1 wire for the blueghozzt controller, if im using that as a 12v switch, what do i connect the converter to?.. confusing straight to the battery?

Will connecting both ring terminal to the positive and negative on the battery instead of a ground run it out faster? My 12v-5v converter came with a very short ground wire

I believe you'll still have parasetic drain though. You need to add a switch.

Hey man after I finished my retrofit, my passenger low beam is burnt out 🤦♂️. From what I’ve researched there is no way to replace the led low beam bulb. For some reason they don’t less a replacement bulb. So I pulled the headlight back out, baked it dissembled everything inside the headlight again. Checked for any loose wires and still no low beam function, Only thing I can figure is I some how damaged the low beam bulb when I was doing my retrofit. So I just ordered a used OEM headlight off eBay for $400. Going to have to bake it and swap over the low beam led housing over to my retrofitted headlight. This simple job turned out to be very expensive. Good thing is after doing the retrofit i can take the headlight out and bake/dissemble it in less 30 mins now 😂
OMG man sorry to hear it!!! I've baked my headlights 4 times now with no issue, but admittedly have never handled the low beam LED :( Hope this time round works out for ya - mebbe after all this you can open up a retro shop and recoup that $400 😅😎

@@SquareWheelsAuto sup bro, I figured out the cause of my low beam shorting out. Turns out I broke the wire that connects the low beam to that black box at the bottom of the headlight. So I swapped it out for the new headlight that came in and I’m back in business.
Everything works properly again. So now I have an extra full passenger headlight I plan to solder the wire back together and either sell or keep for parts 😂. Can prolly sell it for more than I got it for or buy a matching driver side and start doing Q50 headlight retrofits with core charges. They send me their headlights and I’ll give them the ones I’ve already completed or make theirs custom how they want them. Appreciate all your guides and responses my man. None of this would have been possible without your help! Do you have IG? So I can show you my work

Nope usually need to bring your own trigger wires
How many outputs needed for the blueghost, prewired or non?
I did 4 outputs, prewired, mostly because I didn't know what I was doing or what to expect.
If you order prewiring from lightingtrendz, definitely open it up and confirm everything's actually wired; they missed a connection on mine 😤🤬

Hey broz me again, I'm on day 3 working on the headlights lol. So we FINALLY got everything wired and connected. Only concern is that the demon eyes and the lash (the lights to the right of the demon eyes) does not turn off by itself when the car is on and locked. I have to do it in the app. Is this normal? I'm just worried that one day I forget to turn it off in the app and kills the battery.
I e got the demon eyes getting power off one of my Blueghozt Plus outputs, set to triggered. So it only turns on when the DRLs are on.

U could do a cheap switch or relay off Amazon in the interim! Check out my relay video! That's all the Blueghozt plus is doing anyway
Also, your demon eyes are still drawing from the battery even after you turn them off in the app. The controller, the Bluetooth, and probably the LEDs themselves all continue doing their jobs of listening for commands. It'd take a while (days between charges, not hours) to drain the battery but still something to keep in mind

I’m curious to know why connect LN1 to 12v switch.
The DRL (LN2) circuit cuts out when the car turns on. So I have switched 12 going to LN1 to keep the lights on when the engines running 👍🏾👍🏾
@@SquareWheelsAuto I see. I noticed that when it’s connected to the 12v switch it keeps the brake witch activated in the app. If that’s the case will the app allow you to change shows. 🤔
@@Hharris009 yeah in the settings screen you can change LN1 from brake mode to show mode. Either way just set it to display solid white (or whatever you want your drls to run on when the cars on)
Do you always have to go in app to turn these on and off ? Or it turns offs when you turn the car off ? Lastly does the demon eyes shows when in auto mode ?
Nope, they completely respond to inputs and switched power from the vehicle. Once I've got it configured, I rarely go into the app unless I want to set a show mode.
The way I have it setup in the video, demon eyes come on when the car is on, and if/when the headlights turn on, the demon eyes cut off.

Did you need the 5v or 12v controller?
Get the controller that matches the voltage of whatever strips you have. For this video I had 5v strips in.

Can you install demon eyes and halo lights on the same channel
Technically, yes, it'd jus take some fancy wiring. You'd have to run just data to both and figure out how each of them wants to be powered.
Keep in mind demon eyes are generally just 1 pixel so it might not come out how you want (it could potentially be off most of the time while an animation is happening)

How much did *I* spend? Idk lol. a lot went to R&D/trial and error/buying wrong parts, etc. But everything in this video can be done for around $500
Lmaoo i wonder how many people almost burned down their house baking their headlights.🤣😭 I did a set of LS430's With dual projectors and switchback halos.. Getting the larger projectors to play with the self-leveling and then sealing it again, hoping nothing would melt inside was a pain!! Came out amazing tho.

I heard vinyl on lens isn’t proper way and etching is better and more accurate way to do it. I c you used vinyl overlay on lens how did this last?
Going on 3 years on my Q, had vinyl on the lenses of my G for 6yrs before I sold it. If we’re just trying to make semitransparent patterns on our lenses, what does “better and more accurate” actually mean? 🤷🏾♂️

Lighting Trendz charges over $3k to do a set of Q50 headlights and that’s if you take out your own lights and ship them off to them. For $3500 they should send you a brand new set with their mods included. Anyone willing to pay these greedy assholes that much is simply insane. 🙄
