I don't comment on videos often. But I gotta say, this video is exactly what I've been waiting to see for a long time. It's hard to find info on how to properly frost and customize the q50 lights. Your video was very detailed and informative. Thanks for doing this!
Very informative, very impressed with the way you said everything step by step in definitely going to try this now, at first I didn’t because I didn’t know how easy this challenge can be and affordable. Keep up the good work man!

I’ve sanded them with 500 grit and painted them. Tends to work good! Yeah there’s one company with clear ones but they’re about $50 and multiple weeks for shipping! Hope this helps!
@@christopherhulett2620 wouldn't proper curing time drastically reduce the fume hazing though? Maybe even bake the pieces prior to assembly on low heat for prolonged time to speed the process up.
I’d recommend to remove the chrome form the inner pieces before you buff and paint, over time the paint will chip off due to heat and movement from the car, to remove it use ZeD degreaser. Trust me brother it’ll help in the long run and better results!
@@DesertRoadsEntertainment oh yes most definitely man! It’s let work dipping it in degreaser Also if your looking for clear side markers instead of orange I have someone that molds my custom parts. Follow me on Instagram if your interested
You meant ZEP degreaser, right? Like the orange citris one? And you are referring specifically to the shiny chrome portions of the headlight interior pieces, right?
Did you kno that using a high gloss black with a diamond coat clear will black out the light, yet give you the same bright light as a non painted reflector?
Hi man, one question if you don't mind. I am trying to use the frosted glass spray on the Audi A5 DRL diffuser but if doesn't go as white and smooth as yours. It becomes frosted but yellowish/grayish/not as white as yours even with 3-4 coats
The headlights in the video are INFINITI OEM. I’ve done them with aftermarket lights as well, the process is almost the exact same. The connectors are similar, not identical. The actual projector is slightly different and actually easier to install the etching decals!
I’ve never had anyone complain. I daily drive mine and it shines very similar to stock and doesn’t seem to scatter light everywhere. I would suggest it!
The vinyl is heat resistant. Newer cars use led headlights feather than old halogen or HID technology. LEDS don’t get very hot and have large heat sinks for heat dissipation…
Most of them. There’s a few different types but they’re all the same length. The projector ones have a larger face but all the screws on the lens are the same.
@@Awsometiger1011 I just used a piece of plastic with dividers and labeled them for each part. Ex: 1st step was for all the screws holding on the lens. Then I labeled “projector” for the 4 holding on projector
Have a quick question, wouldn’t it be better to leave the part behind the upper eyebrow chrome rather than painting it black to make sure the light reflects properly?
Instagram has been weird with my DM’s. For info on the etched headlights, please email me at coyotesfanjaden@gmail.com. In the subject line please write “headlight inquiry” or something similar!

It’s a super common mod. Tons of people have done the same mod. I did t install them on the car for a while…. Photos on my instagram show it. I promise, you won’t be disappointed with this mod;)
i would not recomend wiping the headlight lens inside as it scratch relly easy. I've tried it before whenever I open headlight i put the headlight lens inside a box so any dust will not get into the lens.
A soft (preferably new) microfiber should not scratch the lens. The reason they scratch is something in the fibers. However a box is a GREAT way to prevent dust in the first place!

Any tips on getting rid of the orange reflector? I know somebody was selling clear ones but he's out now.

Black spray or tint inside to maintain glossy exterior of the lens.
You would be amazed what a blasting cabinet and a bucket of zep would do for you
Facts no paint, no peel, no fume haze on the inside lens after a couple months.

Does this frosting spray leaves greenish tint or is it just me seeing this?
No. Definitely just white frost. Camera doesn’t do it as well as in real life
Really good work

I suggest trying to spray further away to allow for the paint to be more frosted.
Work out great thanks I recommend you have a extra headlight practice on that one first
Only a $1,000 investment for a new one...
But yea a trial one would be ideal
If I paint the Drl coverfrost would the light be brighter? Or same? Besides having it look frosty.
The light looks the same, it’s just dispersed more evenly. Rather than having hot spots in each led.

Would this burn on halogens?
Q50 doesn’t use halogen. I however suggest using led only with the etching to avoid the chance of it burning
Great video - just missing one thing, a contrast or actual view at the end!! There's no way to evaluate if it was worth the effort.
Please explain what kind of contrast? Before and after? If so I have pictures on instagram of it @american_m3
How’s the light output once you put the sticker on? Does it reflect on the light?

How well does it hold against the heat in a headlight housing? And do you do custom designs for other cars?
I’ve done a bunch for other cars! Holds well on LED haven’t done many for any other type of lights. Thanks for watching

Yes however, taping it off can chip the chrome when the tape comes off making the light spotty…
Man, great vid. I will have to try this on my Q50.😎👍
What vinyl did you use to create the design and leave it glued? Does heat damage the design?
I used frosted vinyl and once it’s stuck it lol hold for a while. Head shouldn’t be a problem since the light bulb is led. Even HID shouldn’t be bad

Just masking tape. If the chrome peels, you can try to just paint them all black for a more even apperance.
