Unfortunately, we can’t find a Cougar that fits our needs.
And we are doing our best to NOT by from Camping World,

Alliance's "All-Access" are named that way because they are shorter for easier access to state and national parks.
For the shorter fifth wheels like you are looking for, you will find many of them have the big slide and big windows on the non-camp side because the door takes up a lot of wall space on the camp side of the RV.

I am a fan of word play. So I just thought it was funny to name it that with the lack of access.
We stay mainly at state and national campgrounds - 30’ and under is a better size.
And in Canada, 32’ is their max at their provincial parks,

Don't buy from General RV in Jacksonville. If you do I hope your RV never has to be worked on. They dropped the ball on me horribly and didn't apologize, didn't make it right, and didn't care that I was completely inconvenienced. Horrible customer service.....right there next to Camping World. Don't buy an RV right now, they are junk!!!

We recently purchased a 2024 Cougar model 25DBSWE to full time. Love it, the build quality so far has been great , 4 season, and great windows on both sides, and comes with a good upgraded solar package you can add on.

I wish y’all success in finding the right camper for you. That being said, stay away from Grand Design. From everything I’ve seen online, they lead the industry in frame failures. I was thrilled when Alice said no to Camping World!

I really don’t want to deal with more years with Grand Design but unfortunately they may have the floor plan closest to what we want.
And I’ve gotten many comments about frame flex with other manufacturers?

You walked through the Rockwoods. You should have stopped and looked at them. Very well made for the price. Construction quality is very good in my opinion.

@andytavenner8833 We have a 2022 Flagstaff 27bhws. Very good overall quality. I would definitely buy Flagstaff/Rockwood again. I had my mind set on Grand Design but after inspection I was very unimpressed with the quality.
I AGREE THE ROCKWOODS ARE MADE VERY WELL ..WE HAVE ONE AND REALLY LOVE IT
Be careful with the Cougar, especially in the length you're looking for...pay VERY close attention to the cargo capacity. We bought one to be our full-time rig, and we're overweight very quickly - even after being VERY conservative with what we loaded in and only 20 gallons of water. We ended up trading that in for an Alliance Paradigm 310RL.

Over the 4 years we have been traveling full time, we have used Cat Scales to keep an eye on our weight. We have a very popular video about the importance of weighing often.

We looked for months. Finally decided in a Cougar 27SGS. Found a demo unit 2 years old so like NEW. Just got lucky on that. Got away from all the dealer fees since we bought used. $40k out the door. Love the floor plan. ticks all the boxes.

We just toured one of those. It was my choice. But because we dry camp, the window situation didn’t work for us.
We would have switched couch and dinenette. Plus move entertainment center 🤣

Still say you are looking at wrong things start looking at what the build wuality is of the hidden items,frame,plumbing,electrical,cabinets are they solid wood with dovetails. Only one these days meets those benchmarks. That is a brinkley!

Thanks. We were surprised by some of the negativity. Aren’t people picky when buying a house? It’s the same thing for us buying an RV.

We own a 2018 Cardinal Explorer 5th wheel that we knew was perfect when we looked at it with the slides in. Once the slides were out, it confirmed we found "the one". We have a real coat closet. We have and outdoor kitchen (which we didn't know until the forklift pulled it out so we could open the slides). We are able to access the bedroom and bathroom when the slides are in.
(I detest lofts in RVs-wasted space.) We call ours the "grandparents" RV. It's just for us. A lot of counterspace, a residential fridge. We schlep a Breville Smart Oven Pro that works perfectly for our cooking needs other than the gas cook top. LOTS of storage inside. I honestly haven't seen a rig yet that I would consider as a replacement.
The two of you seem to be handling this awful situation with amazing grace. I hope you are able to find the perfect solution to meet your needs. Take your time.

Stay away from General RV in Jax. Horrible service and just outright lied and was deceitful. Had my Solitude for months and when I drove 4 hrs to pick it up after they said it was ready, nothing was done. Unbelievable. However had good experiences with other General RV’s.

We were at a local show yesterday, we are not in the market (thank god) but go to look at new things that we may want to add to our class A. Every 5th wheel we went into I could feel the floors flexing as I walked across and I am under 200 lbs. The only one I saw that seemed like it had any quality checks done was the Cherokee wildcat and the artic wolf. Every other brand and unit I went into needed at least $1000 of repair work before delivery. Personally I would not buy any of the new stuff I would look at 2018 1nd 2019 models to get at least slightly better quality.
We currently have a 2017. Nothing but problems.
Hi! You may be crazy picky, but I'm just as crazy picky...maybe even more so! The list of what you are looking for is almost the exact same as mine, and you are looking at all the same 5th wheels I have considered and decided against 😅 oh! And Thanks for sharing your spreadsheet! I too have a spreadsheet and now I feel vindicated lol Im not the only one! Have you noticed that there seems to be a gap in the market? That's how I feel. I want the quality and goodies that you find in a Solitude and Paradigm, etc, but in the mid profile 30 foot range...and I cant find it. Solid surface counter tops, quality cabinets, floor flush high quality slides, carpetless, ventless, one piece shower, high quality running and landing gear... It seems like, in order to get a shorter rig, you have to sacrifice quality materials. I feel like I will have to buy a longer rig than I want just to get the quality I'm looking for. I am leaning towards Alliance, the Paradigm 295MK is 33' or the Avenue (not all access), both are slightly longer than I want, but....

@DownsizingMakesCents The 303RLS is on my list :) I have seen the 2022 and 2023, but not the 2024 yet. I will have to get out and take a look at that one in person. It checks a lot of boxes, but not enough to have me rushing out to buy it. And Mr. Jacob Rigor made a video which basically failed all 3 of my top contenders...Alliance vs Brinkley vs Grand Design. Things may have changed since the making of that video, but it sure has me asking even more questions now. Watch at your own risk ;)
It's no secret that you should stay away from Campers World. Hmm, I see ya'll standing next to an Alliance at the end.. Maybe a possibility?!

I would never buy new. I would buy one like a year old.
That way the bugs should be worked out.
But if you are insistent on buying new then make sure they hook it up to everything and let you see every system working. All faucets. All ac’s I mean everything. Including getting on the roof. There is a video of a couple on here where they bought a brand new fifth wheel only to find a hole in the roof the very next morning as water came in it. And the dealer wanted to keep it 6 weeks after that to repair it. It seems everything is 4 to 6 weeks out for warranty work. I hate dealerships. Cannot stand them. So many lie to you about everything
We were looking at used, but don’t want pandemic built.
We can’t find a used 2023. So we might get new if the price is right.
This will be our 4th RV so we are familiar with the process.

You are correct it’s way hard to find a one year old. We ran in that too when looking for a Keystone Outback we want. Can’t find one anywhere used lol.

No Cougars?!?!?! We just got the 2024 260MLE Cougar. It's a great couples 5th Wheel. Access to the bedroom, bathroom, fridge, kitchen and recliners when the slides are in. We moved down in size from a 3720RL Montana. Looking forward to hitting the road.

The only rig you’ve considered so far that I would personally purchase is Brinkley. I recognize it’s a bit more pricey but with todays RV manufacturing quality lacking, buying from one of the big producers is really inviting horrendous issues. I encourage you to also review Northwood Manufacturing (La Grande Oregon). No dealers on the east coast yet, but they honor warranties. Their sister company (Outdoors RV) may be more in line with your weight criteria and price range. The last family owned manufacturer of any quality in the US. We’ve owned three, and wouldn’t buy anything else.

Hi great video I actually own the 260RD and had the same initial thought so I purchased it I’ve had it 10 months and love it , the ONLY drawback is with slide closed no access to bathroom bedroom or refrigerator, the dining windows definitely make up for the lack of campside which isn’t a drawback for me , I’m looking at 303rls and I would definitely get a Brinkley however I’m ridge on the threshold of tow capacity Good luck

How many windows open all the way?

@@DownsizingMakesCents all of the windows slide open with the exception of the dining area window. Only the lower section of it opens outwards, but there is an opposing window by the stove that creates a good cross-breeze.
@@DownsizingMakesCents we had a 2020 303RLS and really liked it -- but it has an island which was a dealbreaker according to your latest videos. Alliance is also coming out with a 29RL "All Access" Avenue, which is similar to a 303RLS but without the front slide, which makes it about 1000 pounds lighter.

As far as I know, most RVs - doesn’t matter the manufacturer or model - use Lippert frames.

I would tell you to look at the Outdoors RVs, they do make a 5th wheel and seem to be very well built. The problem is that they have very few dealers and other than one in PA, all the other dealers are out west.

I know eh! kinda shocked me too! I first thought oh no shes got a head wound, then i thought oh no shes got brain cncr or something and never told us! but perhaps u just had a shower and your hair was still wet ie slicked down for some reason thats why it looked like that. @@DownsizingMakesCents
Camping world adds too many extra fees that other dealers don’t. I saved 3,000 not buying from them. Grand Design anything should be out. Frame Flex and big problems they haven’t addressed yet.

You arent too picky, this is your home.
These are recreational vehicles, not homes. These full-time, high-mileage nomads load these things to the max weight rating (sometimes over as with these two), and expect never to have any issues. They bent the frame on their last one, and were fortunate enough to have insurance to cover it. Not trying to be mean, but expectations should be in line with the amount/type of use.
The experts welders and custom frame builders that actually saw our frame on person and were hands on clearly stated what broke the frame. It was not due to overloading - see our very popular video about the importance of weighing. Please refrain from blanket statements about a group of people.
