Actually, it was Julius Belmont who "tried to eclipse" Dracula not Soma Cruz. Soma was Dracula's plan B, if you will, by being reborn in Soma's body but Soma resisted temptation and with Faith/ Friends survived with his soul intact

Alright, so we have Future/present-day Dracula, who doesn't care for any of the evil because he and his girl were reincarnated and are together (Soma) vs. his past self or a version of his past self that never got to be free or it's someone else who became the new dark lord Dracula when you consider that Dracula's original true form was just a giant humanoid bat. Either way, it's cool. He also has help from the random girl who defied her family and tried to stop Dracula's resurrection, only for her brother to sacrifice themselves to destroy the ritual and save her (yes, I know her name is Shanoa). We also have the distant relative of the Belmont family who managed to cure the family whip of the curse it had when Dracula possessed Richter. In conclusion, Soma/Dracula can't ever catch a break. Well, except in his third adventure, which is a book release only where Death finally lets him be happy and just live the rest of his life in peace with Mina (Elisabetha/Lisa reincarnated again). I honestly don't know why Konami doesn't just adapt that book into a game since it is canonically meant to be his last adventure. Oh well, it's nice to see Soma again in some way.

Because of the Dominus collection that is gonna sell the 3 DS game,this collab with BHVR was manly made to sponsor the release of those 3 games they gonna sell together, so they picked the 3 protagonists and of them picked one that was gonna appear in actual person in game, in this case Soma got the lucky straw, while Jonathan and Shanoa only ended up as cosplay outfits for og DBD characters, we probably gonna see Richter at some point as an actual Legendary like Soma and Alucard i think, but not until Konami make a release of games where he is a main focus probably, he is one of the most famous Belmont in the series, if they gonna use him i expect him to be used by Konami to sponsor something big with him as focal point.
