    I am well versed in the heavy bag workout and am used to following drill routines on it , I have an Everlast 100 lb bag and worked this routine at a 3:1 ratio for the full 10 rounds to try it out and I'm typing this comment after my shower and cooldown . I was soaked after this routine and it felt very effective. The only difference was I turned up the intensity a bit and also added some slips,blocks,covers and more ducks into it . It's missing a few punch combos but it's easy to add them in . this is an excellent guideline to check where you are at and if you can complete it you are in pretty good shape . Glad I found these videos I have been working the target mitts with my son and he is in for a surprise because I'm going to get him to do the intermediate routine. Thanks great posts .

      +Everlast Nutrition No , thank you, 😋 my son was getting bullied at school last year and although I don't condone fighting unless it's in the ring I know with some boxing training he will carry himself a little different as all boxers do . Hopefully with confidence and discipline he will be able to deal with his bullies without fear , I think he will be able to manage situations in a peaceful manner. He's really a good kid and to put it simply he was getting picked on for being slightly overweight (15 lbs) now he's lost 5 of that and he's starting to develop some good combos. So thanks again for giving us these tools to start him out . He says he wants to box like I used to , I say he's going to be better than me 😎.

    This channel is usually pretty good with good info. But... This vid..
    How to say politely?
    Has a few problems. Some bad habits on the heavy bag.
    Maybe more for workout than proper distance, defense and movement?
    He is still better than me though.
    Don't judge the channel by this video.

      @fightyourwayfit  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for commenting. You’re absolutely right. This is not the greatest video. It was meant to show people a fun way to burn fat.
      I think the biggest problem was with how I filmed it. To get that white background I was penned in between a bunch of hanging sheets without any room to actually move. You’ve got a great eye. The distance is very close to the bag because of that.
      I thank you for watching 😎😎😎😎

They can also get you ready to spar against opponents and ready for your first amateur fights....but... its beneficial to have a good coach oversee your training. they may see things that you don't. Mike
    I started this routine 2 weeks ago and I'm noticing my right shoulder is having a little pain. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do exercises to strengthen my shoulder. I've been doing suspension training routine before I hit the bag, could this be my problem. I've been consistent doing my workouts and don't want to stop now.
    Thank you
    The 60 yrs old man

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  7 лет назад

      There is no doubt that the advanced routine puts a little more stress on your shoulder as you are throwing harder punches. Your body will definitely adapt in time but for now, i would perhaps try and throw the right hand with a little less power until you feel better. If you find that the pain does not go away you may need to take a week off from all of your upper body training (including the suspension training) just to let your body recuperate. You're better off to miss one week rather than six months because you developed some inflammation issues with your shoulder. During that week of you could focus on your legs and some stretching. You're doing great.... I know plenty of 20-year-olds that can't complete this workout...keep up the good work : )

      Hi Mike, I've done this routine several times and I've pumped it up by reducing the rest time to 30 secs, any other advice to make it more intense? I only have a heavy bag. Thanks!

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  6 лет назад +1

      First off...let me congratulate you because you are doing this with 30 second rest times and that is just awesome!!! If you want to increase the intenisty then you could start adding more head movement in to each round. Perhaps you could slip or bob and weave after each combination. You could also add more footwork...perhaps start two feet further away from the bag ..that way you will have to step in and then out with every combination.
      I'm going to be changing a few things on this channel over the next few weeks but i think i will film some new and improved heavy bag routines to keep it interesting. Once again i thank you for trying th routines and keep up th e good work : )

    Thank you for this video. I am following you and practicing . I was using one home made bag with saw dust. Now i bought one everlast heavy bag , can you upload a video. What all i need to do to make it a good heavy bag. The stuffing and hanging in room is the deal that I want to know. What to stuff in it? Saw dust /sand or anything else. And how to hang it . What should be the height? Means all guidelines please. I will be grateful. Thanks and regards.

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  8 лет назад

      That's a great idea.... in the future i will make a video on how to fill and hang the bag.But for now, you can cut up some old clothes and rags into strips and add it to your saw dust if you like.
      I like to hang the bag just above my own height.
      As for how to hang it that all depends on where you will put it. You can use some chains and make sure that you have a proper support in the ceiling. I have mine wrapped around a wood beam in the ceiling.
      As I'm writing this, i agree that you are right.... i think it will be much easier if i make a video .
      I will try to get that done in the near future...Thanks for the idea :)

      Thank you for the question, The Routines can absolutely be done with MMA gloves, yet you may still want to invest in some short handwraps to keep your hands injury free. The wraps ar under 10 bucks and are definitely worth buying. You will notice that pro MMA fighters wrap their hands under the gloves when they fight. It will not only reinforce your wrist but protect your knuckles and hands as well.

      Great question....and the answer is to wait.
      You are better off to miss a few days while your hands heal than to miss six months if you continue and develop a more serious injury.
      Yet you can stay active by doing a few rounds of shadow boxing (there is a video on this channel) while you let your hands recover.

      A slip would be a great substitute for the squat. If the squats bother you than definitely don’t do them. The only way to get results is to be consistent. You won’t be training too often if you’re always in pain. So long story short... the slip would be great. Thanks for watching 😎😎

      @@fightyourwayfit Thank you Sir, also are there ways to grow taller while boxing? Does it boost human growth hormone? Can it raise stress levels? I'm asking this because I'm young and still growing, so I don't want to compress my spine and such and I love to do boxing, even if I'm overweight. Thanks again!

    Do we need to work on our core after the workout

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  7 лет назад

      That is entirely up to you but there is some much rotation and side flexion of the torso that your core already gets a great workout here.
      Yet if you really want an exceptionally strong core then sure you could spend a few minutes training afterwards :)

      Hey! I had been following the intermediate routine for 8 months and followed an intermittent diet along with it. I lost around 18 kgs but gained almost everything back after stopping both. I have started again with the same routine and seeing good results once again. Is there any suggestion that you could give? I don't want to loose motivation again. :P

    This exercises has boxing g application's? (I mean, this will help me to improve my skills), or this videos are focused only on fitness and burn calories?

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  8 лет назад +2

      +Fuke Martinez
      The main focus of this video
      is to introduce people to using the heavy bag and get them use to letting their
      hands go and throw the punches. The ultimate goal of this type of bag workout
      is to improve your fitness level, burn calories while simultaneous having fun
      and learning some new skills. If you are new to boxing then it will definitely
      help your skill level as you will repetitively throw each of the main punches as
      you incorporate a little movement. The bag is also great to develop your speed,
      coordination and punching power. Yet if you are accustomed to boxing and
      looking to prefect your technique then perhaps a workout using the focus mitts is
      a better option for you… cheers.

      Hey Mike! Ok, so I’m easing into this one so I did the first six rounds. Got a few questions.
      1) Any pointers on timing when it comes to the rounders where you have us circling the bag? I feel clumsy when doing this. (Note: this is more of an issue with the jab jab straight circling. Single punch and stepping is okay)
      2) If you look down on me and the punching bag from a bird’s eye view, at what angle should my hooks to the head be hitting the bag? Perpendicular to me and the bag? Or more like 45 degrees?
      Thanks!

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  6 лет назад

      Don't worry, everyone feels clumsy in the beginning but you will find that you will develop your own rhythm in time. I have a video n this channel about the basic footwork for each punch and perhaps that will help you as you circle the bag.
      As best you can, you want to have your arm bent at a right angle as that will ensure that you are making contact with your knuckles on the bag...yet sometimes the bag will be moving and you may have to open the angle up (lets say to 45 degrees) a little to compensate for the movement of the bag..but is usually not a big deal to alter the angle of the hook as long as you don't feel any pain..
      If you find that your elbow begins to get sore..well then you've been opening the angle of your hook up a little a too wide :)

    • @paathimself

      Fight your way Fit Almost had it on my first try! Had to take a 30 second break in the middle of round 9 and 10. Man, those drops are brutal after leg day.
      And thanks for the help with my hooks! That felt a lot better. I was thinking of my forearm relative to the bag but you wording it as more my forearm relative the rest of my arm was good.
      My footwork is better too. I really focused and didn’t let myself rush through the movements. For me, it’s almost like I double jab as I step left and then I step right as I throw my straight. That felt pretty ok.
      Thanks for the help, Mike! Hope the kid is doing well
