Meh, the double end bag is very awkward. To get your timing and rhythm down it’s ok to sacrifice form a little. You have to, or you’ll never get the hang of it.
I purchased both the medium ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfh2XUOHWYHKQYOvSq2gZ6PyCmVkTFGWz and small speed bags from Meister. I'm very glad I got both as the workout is quite different from the two. The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes. Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.
Are those clamps that you have on both sides of the bag that secure the shock cord easily adjustable (without use if a specialized tool)? Where might I find them? Thanks
Yes they are little plastic clamps that came with the double ended bag because they came with the bag, I’m not exactly sure what to call them. . I’m pretty sure that you could find something similar at any hardware store. Thanks for taking the time to watch 😎
Thanks for commenting, it does take a little practice but stick with it because it can be a great workout. there is a how-to tutorial that may help; ruclips.net/video/2_pv4oeHGVk/видео.html
Hi Mike, I can't download this video for some reason.....I use an Add On on my browser to do that. I was able to download all the other videos in this series except for this one for some reason. Is it possible to re-upload the video to RUclips to see if this fixes the problem. Many Thanks again.
I think the problem is that i had some music playing in the background for about 30 seconds and now youtube has placed a copyright on that one. I will see if i can find the original video and perhaps i can leave a drop box link here so that you can download it. It may take a day or so tho :)
I just picked up a double end bag last night. Where do you get the little plastic adjusters for the bungees? Those look like they would be much better than the hooks that came with mine.
I already had those adjusters lying around...but you can honestly use some simple plastic ties that you get at the dollar store and they will work just fine. Adjust the height of the bungee cables so that the bag is where you want it to bee and then pinch the plastic ties to hold the cables in place. I didn't do it in the video beleow...but i used the same principle to hang the heavy bag...so you will see what I mean by the cheap dollar store ties. ruclips.net/video/Fojg4uwI6Z4/видео.html
Mike, I'm learning a lot from your videos, thank you. My question is, I'm trying to lose weight but can I work the heavy bag one day then the next day do the double end bag. Or will hitting the bags take a toll on my body, I'm trying to work out at least 6 days a week, I'm on a roll and don't want to stop now. The 60 yrs old man
If you have a double-ended bag then that is a great routine of one the heavy bag followed by the double ended bag the next day. The great thing about the double ended bag is that it is very low impact on the joints and gives your body a chance to recover even though you're still working out. So, the answer is absolutely yes... you can alternate them from day to day and then rest one day a week....doing that, you're going to get results : )
Mike I'm getting very frustrated controlling the double end bag. It seems that I'm still at square 1 not improving at all. I know it has only been 3 weeks since I started but I'm not going to give up. Any advice or encouragement Thanks The 60 yrs old man
Did you watch the "how to use the double ended bag" video? It definitely takes some getting used to and i promise that you will get it in time. Double check that the bungee cables are not too loose as that will make the bag travel a lot more than it needs to. You will find that you will have to move your feet to change the angle at which you hit the bag and that will make it much easier to control. Also try to use very light punches in teh beginning and just try to keep your hands moving.
That’s exactly what it. Inhale through the nose when pulling back or not punching and exhale when you throw. If I’m throwing a combination it’s one deep inhalation before followed by short bursts to exhale with each subsequent punch. Thanks for the great question 🙂🙂
just to be clear, my error and inherent issues was taking a breath before each punch. This pattern was difficult when throwing combinations as I was incorrectly doing 3inhale/exhales if throwing 3. One deep inhale and subsequent exhale across the span of the comb is much easier for me. A video on proper breathing pattern would probably stand out as so many fail to cover it , when it is essentially the base for all activity.
You’re absolutely right and I really want to do a video all about breathing and relaxing in the ring in the future. I think a lot of people have the exact same questions that you have 🙂
Thanks for commenting... the bag is similar to this one; www.fromthecorner.co.nz/products/everlast-boxing-precision-double-ended-striking-bag But I've switched over to this one that is cheaper and i like it better; www.walmart.com/ip/Everlast-Everhide-Double-End-Striking-Bag/14292485
Mike I just started using the double ended bag and I notice that the bag is greatly effected by the tension of the bungee cords. So which way is the correct way to set up the bag, tight or loose. I don't want to work the bag wrong. The 60 yrs old man
You don't want it too loose as it will really slow down your workout. I would install it fairly taught so that if you punch the bag with the count of 1 2 that the bag rebounds fast enough so that its there to be hit. You will enjoy the double-ended bag...its my favorite workout :)
@ FILO 58 When I first started I had the bag loose and it was all over the place because I didn't have my rhythm down so I tighten it up as much as I can, once I started getting a rhythm I started loosing it up a little at a time working on the rhythm, I like using it both ways now. Tight as if you were up against the ropes and loose to get the body moving as if you in the center of ring moving your body more and working on my foot work plus bobbing and weaving. @Everlast Nutrition I've was looking for more to hit the bag, I'm now using some of your moves. thanks
You’re absolutely right. Yet , for beginners i prefer to err on the side of caution and be safe. Also you’ll be ready to jump right on over to the heavy bag as you’ll already be wearing gloves. Thanks for taking the time to watch 😎😎
@@fightyourwayfit understood, it's easier to start hitting it with gloves anyway. But if you do another video on this, could you meantion alot of fighters kind of use it as a technical check? It's a really good tool barehanded as you can make sure you're making contact appropriately (if you're not landing cleanly/correctly the ball isn't going to go where you want it to, especially barehanded or in wraps) I basically use it to make sure my angles and knuckle contact is good UNDER the gloves.
Says to keep hands up, always drops before he throws.
drops his left right before jab
This guy drops his left every time he jabs. Don't do this or you'll get knocked out.
ukefanbrown Agreed. I saw the same thing.
@7Reload Very stupid comment. Neither does Manny Pacquiao when he works the Double Ended Bag (search on YT)!
@@steph.B.20 Pac is a pro. He can drop his hands whenever he wants because he knows what he's doing.

Stfu. It’s for practice lol instead tell them to make sure not to drop your hand down. Good beginner video
after you get good at these you could add some slips to the first two especially

Great video👍
I just got my double-ended bag. It is much harder to hit than I expected, once it gets moving.
Thanks for watching. You’ll be surprised how quickly you will get used to it 😎😎😎😎
I lost 8 pounds from doing your heavy bag routines.....now onto the Double Ended Bag!
That is absolutely awesome...keep up the great work :)
Great video...thanks, just got my bag and will try this out.
Awesome!!! I’m sure you’ll love it.
Great information as always👍🏽
