⏩Video Question: What was the first show you saw live and how old were you?
Let me know which Band-Maid song I should look at next
Come say hello to me when I am live on Twitch! www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
Ted Nugent and Krocous. 17 back in '81. Krocous was amazing! Nugent sucked! Krocous put on a great drum duo... Couldn't tell when one song started and the next ended with Nugent...also, absolutely no energy. I left halfway through Ted Nugent....they just SUCKED!
Very good reaction , is nice to hear more about drums if you want to keep going with the fun songs you must wacht ""PLAY" official live its great
My first concert was The Monkees and Jimi Hendrix in North Carolina 1967 ! My mom and big sister wanted to see the Monkees =) I was 12 and had to tag along We didn't have a clue who Hendrix was and while he was playing all the girls were yelling "WE WANT DAVY" I thought he was amazing , now i have 14 of his ablums and 5 CD's !!
If you like guitar bass interplay, check out "Don't You Tell Me" live at Zepp Tokyo or "Clang" from their 2019 European tour.
I was very late to the festival or concert thing... My first liveshow was in London 2010 (28 yrs old) and it was Pendulum in Wembley. I am 40 yrs old! Afterwards i was going to MANY festivals. There are/were a lot here in Germany! Have a nice sunday everyone! Next Band-Maid song doesnt matter, everything is great :) BUT Onset LIVE or Blooming MV are right up your alley, i guess
Jimmy Page went backstage after seeing Band-Maid perform, to ask Akane, the drummer, for a selfie. And not just because he'd seen how she is the happiest drummer ever but because he was very impressed with her playing. The bass player is MISA (always in capitals, often said 3 times as in MISA, MISA, MISA!).
Of course game knows game. This is Japan’s Led Zeppelin - great players exploding 🤯
What I like about this solo, and all the solos in Band-Maid songs, is that none of them are just about showing off. They are all structured to fit the song, and enhance the song, rather that just being "look at how fast I can play!" type solos.
Bass player - MISA - If you like bass check out these Band Maid songs: No God, Dice & Thrill
Akane - the happiest (& talented) drummer ever!
Here you go Tony, this might help:
MISA - virtuoso bassists, on-stage -barefoot bass assassin.
Saiki - (blue rose) lead vocal, queen of the stage
Miku - (red rose) second vocal and rhythm guitar, band founder, main lyricist
Kanami - lead guitar, main composer, transforms into the riff monster aka Mincho
Akane - smiling drummer, fills and beats master, elevates every song
TY!
you forgot the akane nickname... GORILLA
@@weldernick3750 Or Goddess!
WARNING, the opening track on their latest album, is another showcase for AKANE’s amazing drumming.
⚠️ warning welcomed! 😅😅
I love that the drum fills into the chorus are different each time.
"Warning" is another favorite... tons of fun play with tempo and Akane flat FLIES around her kit
First concert: Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush (fantastic band, and one of the all-time guitar greats). I was 16 at the time IIRC. Next song… “Blooming” music video. It’s a masterpiece.
Freedom will always have a special place in my heart because it's what got me into Band-Maid personally, I saw this exact live recording and was instantly sold! It's a very straightforward and "simple" song for them, especially compared to a lot of their newer stuff, but it's one of the band's favorites to play at live gigs because it's just so much fun to play and the crowd always has a fantastic time with it.
My suggestion for your next song to check out is Blooming -- I think you'd really appreciate all the layers going on there! Akane's drums are absolutely filthy from start to finish.
And the live video that has Manners and BLACK HOLE is a real treat when you get to it, it's two songs from their latest album and really shows two completely different extremes of what they're capable of these days!
Sweet, thank you for this information and reccomended 🎵
My first show was Little Richard when I was 11 years old in 1957. It was at the National Guard Armory in Yakima, Washington. The place was no bigger than a basketball court. A stage riser was at one end. Richard ended the show barechested, standing on the grand piano. He performed all the music from both his albums at that time. His band was awesome. I was a huge fan. What a way to start my musical journey.
WOW!!
Nice!
My first concert with my friends was The Police, The Fixx, Oingo Boingo and The Thompson Twins in '83. INXS was supposed to be there, too, but didn't make it for some reason.
I saw Primus quite a few times back in mid 80s to early 90s.
True story. My friends cousin was the promoter for a band that opened for Primus around '90. I got lucky and was introduced to them and got to drink beer with them on their bus before the show. They didn't have a show the next night so they asked us ( about 10-12 of us ) where we were going to drink later that night. We said we were going to this little, hole in the wall, bar that we went to frequently, and they ended up joining us. We got there about midnight. The owner closed at 2am but let us stay and drink until the sun came up. People were singing karaoke ( owner stood on the bar and sang "Tiny Bubbles"), playing pool and having a great time. Primus paid for everything, got in their bus, and drove away.
Hi, same here. When my old faves like Sabbath, Deep Purple and Zep went through some funny fazes, I picked up on Police, Magazine, Oingo Boingo and the hugely underated The Fixx.
The most beautiful and amazing band on the planet! I am a 70 year old prog rock, jazz fusion drummer and Akane just blew me away when I heard them 4 years ago. She continues to amaze me, They all do. If you want to hear the amazing combination of Akane and Misa, check out Manners /Black Hole live! (284) BAND-MAID / Manners, BLACK HOLE (Official Live Video) for J-LOD LIVE2 - RUclips Their sound is orgasmic. One of the most amazing rhythm sections I have ever heard. GREAT REVIEW
My first live concert was the Doobie Brothers in 1974, I was 16 & that show has forever been imprinted in my brain, it was so Awesome !!! ❤🎙🎸🥁😎👌 The musicianship & musicality of Band - Maid reminds me of those guys.
The Doobie Brothers is my favorite band all time but I've listened to Band-Maid songs way more often than the Doobies.
@@rizmancorpuz Band - Maid reminds me of all the great bands from my teens & 20s, it's why I love them. If I could only take 10 bands with me to heaven......the Maids would be one of them.
What I like about the drum solo, is rather than just showing off, she stays with the rhythm/tempo of the song
Akane (drummer) has crazy good feet - and her feet are every bit as capable as her hands - so she can create sounds that others cannot.
Hey Tony, great reaction. Rewind Band-Maid as much as you like. Q1- Kansas opened for Queen 1974 Tower Theatre near Philly (where Bowie recorded his live album) I was 17. All members are featured players in Band-Maid. You will not find a more unselfish band. Not a thread of ego to be found. MISA, the lead bass phenom is affectionately called the barefoot assassin as she plays in her bare feet and kills in every song. I will suggest to check out the 2fer1 Manners/Black Hole for a groovy bluesy rocker followed by the 220bpm behemoth of melodic chaos. Then ONSET-LIVE for a Rock instrumental they way they should be done. Simply BAND-MAID is Awesome and FUN. Peace. 992
Of course he should react to them. My first concert was Scorpions at Hammersmith odeon 1980, i was right at the back, i didn't care :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Actually if you were closer Gary, you'd probably be wearing hearing aids by now. Those metal bands back then couldn't play loud enough. You could FEEL the building shaking sometimes. Amazing. 😎
@@jkkansasband7056 I must admit that before the days of noise pollution fines at gigs, bands did tend to blow your eardrums out :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 The wifey says I have selective hearing. But I tell her it's all the concerts catching up to me.😉
@@jkkansasband7056 saw Judas Priest on the Turbo tour. Even standing in the back third of the arena my ears were still ringing a week later. Have never heard a drummer as heavily amplified since.
Now you understand why Jimmy Page after watching Akane's drumming said that she was one of the best drummers that he's ever heard and that she reminded him of John Bonham. Saiki reminds me of Alanis Morissette in her ability to change her vocal styles. As always Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!
I saw The Who at Anaheim Stadium in March of ‘76. I was 17.
I will see Band-Maid in Seattle this October.
Hey Rick, I'll see you in Seattle.....Rock On !!!
They are coming here in October?? 2024?
Every first time listener makes the same boo-boo, they think the drum solo is over when the guitar starts up. It's not over until Ah-chan throws her head back in triumph! Thanks for the reaction, nicely done!
Deep Purple 1976, I was 19....I couldn't even hear traffic when I came out as the concert was so loud! More recently I have seen BAND-MAID live in London both 2018 and 2019. Next song, well pretty much any....but for Live maybe Onset (an instrumental)....and for a MV Daydreaming.
Pure perfection, aren’t they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure! Thanks Tony, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!
It was Uriah Heep and I was 16 in 1974. Mick Box on guitar, Gary Thain on bass, and Ken Hensley on the Hammond B3 with that sweet Leslie cabinet. It was my first experience of having music thump me in the chest. I liked it.
Chest thumps are a good time!
There is a bit from the DVD commentary translated on the net where Miku says something along the lines of she looked up and thought why is Kanami coming across the stage at me. It turns out Miku had sung the wrong lyrics at a couple of shows and Kanami was coming to keep an eye on her.
Don't You Tell Me live has a great bass/guitar battle with Akane working her magic underneath. For MVs, Blooming is good, and Real Existence and Don't Let Me Down are good from their early days.
First big show I ever saw was The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top in Houston when I was 10 or 11.
If you want to see MISA, the bass player really shine check out No God, the official live version.
One of the best reactions to this song I've heard. Thanks man.
To really get the essence of Misa on the base, please react to the 'Manners/Black Hole' (live) video. A two for one clip. As brilliant as the other maids are, the 'Barefoot Assassin' owns both those songs. But of course Akane is right there with her on the kit.
My first 'real' concert was Sting 1986. Brilliant. Plenty of great Aussie pub rock bands before that though in pups & clubs from around 1977. Cheers.
Thank you for the nice comment and information
#1 First-ever gig. Thin Lizzy, Live and Dangerous Tour, Wembley Empire Pool, London, 22/06/1978. Age 16
#2 My last gig. BAND-MAID, World Domination Tour, Islington Assembly Hall, London, 22/06/2019.
Also, my top 2 lives. Ones to Recommend... "Puzzle" or "Matchless GUM" live at Studio Coast.... if you can find them ; ) If not, then "Play" live. You Will love the intro
When I watch them playing happily, I feel like resuming playing an instrument that I've been away from for a long time. I've seen many voices like that on the Internet.
Next . Manners - BLACK HOLE (Official LIVE video)
First live band - UB 40 Playing in the open at the showgrounds in Harare Zimbabwe.. 1983 ish? 21 Breezed in after a heavy night shift.. Smokin hot concert.. Check out the live versions of Take me higher and don't you tell me, for awesome Bass/Lead showdowns.. Great stuff..

Jimmy Page saw them in Tokyo in 2016 and was so blow away by Akane's drumming he had to meet her after the show. He said it was like the second coming of John Bonham. Akane couldn't believe he wanted to meet her. There is a photo of them together on the internet.
That's awesome and that makes sense
@@DrumRollTonyReacts The John Bonham part seems to be one of those internet myths, but the rest is well documented.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts the only thing I'm confident about the Jimmy Page story is he watched them then wanted to meet Akane after the show. Any statements or remarks shared between them are purely speculation. The story has grown and become more embellished over time kind of like the RUclips comments version of that school game where the teacher whispers a phrase to a kid who whispers to the next etc then you compare how much was changed through all the retellings
The first live band I saw was The Jam in 1980 when I was 14.
I recommend next live versions of 'Play', 'Real Existence' or an awesome instrumental 'Onset'.
I am Japanese.
The first concert I saw was my eternal idol "Prince" at Yokohama Stadium (baseball park in Japan) in 1986.
I've listened to all kinds of music since then, but no artist who really made me enthusiastic appeared until I met "BAND-MAID".
I met "BAND-MAID" and am with the best band in my life.
No matter which BAND-MAID song you choose, you won't be disappointed.
But first of all, please react to "PLAY" from the same concert!
Drummer Akane has a recurring dream that the last tree in the world is cut down & she asks everybody where she can get new drum sticks from. But everyone is stumped.🤦♂️
@P in D 2 Yes it'd be the poplar thing to do.😏
@P in D 2 I told Akane if i'm not available then yew are the man for the job :) P.S I've just finished the MISA pic. If you can forgive that the guitar looks like it's made from driftwood with slightly wonky strings & the glaring perspective error then no one will notice if i don't mention it. The main thing is MISA's hair is super swishy. I'll send it soon :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Your barking mad sometimes Gary.🤪🤪
@@jeremydawkins8814 Lol. I do branch out into weirdness sometimes :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 It doesn't leaf much to the imagination.
A comment about the fans:
It's pretty common in Japanese music for there to be a kind of call-and-response structure built into the songs. It hearkens back to traditional Japanese music. So, typically, there are parts that are built into the popular or rock songs for the audience to do something. There will be portions where the audience is supposed to shout along with the beat or clap to it. Like, in the beginning of the song, Miku is encouraging the audience to shout on the 1 & 3 of the beat, which they obligingly do, but then they stop that chant when Saiki begins singing. And then after the drum/guitar solo, the music drops down to just Saiki singing with the kick drum holding the beat, Akane is hitting her sticks together above her head to indicate the audience should be clapping to the beat, which they would continue until the music picked up again.
If you get into the J-Rock scene, you'll find that there are all sorts of similar things built into songs by a wide variety of bands to encourage a semi-organized audience participation with the song.
(On the pop side of things it can rise to an extreme level of coordinated audience participation. Do a youtube search for "wotagei" to see examples of the kind of coordinated things fans come up with to do in the audience while the pop artists are performing.)
Sweet. Thank you for the super informative comment
Interesting. I now notice much more in classic One OK Rock songs:

The Beginning (CLASSIC example)

I had the opportunity to see them live in Dallas last year. They played a few tracks from their Renegades album (didn't listen to much of it prior but after hearing live I understand what the album was engineered for a bit more. It's much better onstage, so that was a great learning experience), then they busted a few classics and when the piano came out for this song with the break down intro vocals the fans that knew them from their earlier works about brought the whole place down. The entire song was versed nearly lyric by lyric for the entire duration. The Beginning is absolutely nuts live and I absolutely cherish that experience.
Next on my list is definitely Band-Maid as they have that deeper rock sound more than current OOR, but OOR was still brilliant and worth the 8 hour round-trip in a single day with my 9-5 the next morning!
First concert was Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in 1974 at the Denver Colliseum. I was 9. About the only thing I understood of the event was Carl Palmer was the drummer and his set was on a turntable. When he spun around during his solo, the backs of his gongs had a flourecent red tiger and a flourecent green dragon on them. Mind = blown! I was probably stoned (what's that funny smell, Dad?). After that show, I started playing the drums. Oh, and Band-Maid? Pick anything, cuz their awesome! Akane is now one of my favorite drummers...ever. 🤯🕊
They have an instrumental , "Onset" , live from Zepp in 2018. Also, for more fun basework, "No God" or "Manners/Blackhole" Live (its 2 songs in one vid).
The first band I saw was King Kurt in 1987, when I was 17. They were a small band, but were notorious for their very messy gigs, where fans would turn up with eggs, flour, various butcher's off-cuts, baked beans, and other messy items, and throw them at each other, and the band. They also had on-stage drinking contests, and sometimes 50p stupid haircuts. Male fans could also get in for half price if they wore a dress. They weren't the cleanest sounding (and definitely not looking) band ever, but they had a lot of fun. ruclips.net/video/AS_LPu85bSk/видео.html You (and most here) probably won't like the music, but you might like the interview at the start, and the sense of chaos.
Van Halen, original lineup, February 1984, Atlanta at the Omni, the week Jump hit #1 on Billboard. A year later, they kicked Diamond Dave to the curb.
Great Reaction. Liked your details about the drums and bass.
First concert was Stone temple pilots in Hamburg in the Docks 1994 I was 19. I also had Tickets for Nirvana in the Logo in March that year (Band Maid played there see Vladmir Chupins videos) but that did come to pass they canceled it and a bit later Cobain was dead.
First concert was Styx in 1974.
Dennis DeYoung saw that I was getting bounced around a bit up front ( I was 12 years old)... so, he pointed at me and motioned to come up and sit at the edge of the stage next to his piano.
Then he started playing and singing Lady.
The next day I emptied my bank account and bought my first electric guitar... and I'm still playing and singing almost 50 years later.
Band Maid is the GREATEST band I've seen since the iconic bands of the 1970's... and I've seen just about everyone you can name (over 500 concerts).
God Bless these young ladies for saving Rock n Roll. I have multiple tickets for the upcoming US tour.
Be still my beating heart.
500 concerts! Damn that's awesome
The first concert that I actually attended in person was. And not a slouch of an act or tour to catch them on. AC/DC Back in Black tour, in the fall of 1981. At New York's prestigious, Madison square garden. Doesn't get much better than that for one's first show. I was 16 years old at the time.
Shitttttttttt👀🔥
@@DrumRollTonyReacts AND I WAS IN 10TH GRADE IN HIGH SCHOOL. AND I HAD TO GO TO SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY. AND MY FREAKING EARS RANG I THINK FOR TWO OR THREE DAYS AFTER THE SHOW. IT WAS ONE OF THE LOUDEST CONCERTS I EVER WENT TO.
Halen 1984 - highschool. If you like Misa's bass, you can finish the reaction triumvirate of Domination (live), Freedom (live) and now Play (live). Another bass noteworthy song is No God (live). It is also off the last album whereas Domination, Freedom and Play are slightly older songs.
Hi Tony. I can see that you are really appreciating the subtleties their music and the individual and different charactors of these ladies. I see that Paul H has given you more details about the band members.
For most this song is all about the drum solo but I love the fact that you picked out the bass lines. At this time MISA usually played a Black Cloud, Black Smoker bass which has a really punchy tone but here she has an SG style copy by the same company but which is more mellow, hence a bit low in the mix. In the quiet verse coming out of the drum solo there are some beautiful two note chords that really get me.
In reply to your question. I'm 69. I was 11 when my mother took to my first live show which was the Rolling Stones in 1964- the Beatles were too poppy for me. Great reaction- more please- maybe official MVs for Blooming or Choose Me and Official Live for Wonderland.
It was the Stones for me too, also in 1964 (I was 12). All I could hear was screaming girls and I was partially deaf for a couple of days afterwards!
@@MoonmanRedux Hi, Same for me. My show was at the old Empire Pool Wembley, where they headlined the NME Pole Winners show with a lot of other bands. A few years later I took up playing the guitar but because of watching Akane I recently started drum lessons. I just love Band-Maid to bits, Po!
First live concert 1978 I was 16, Black Sabbath with Van Halen backing them up WOW!!! lol
My first live show was Saxon in 1983 crusader tour at 13 yo.
My first live concert I saw Grand Funk Railroad with Bloodrock as the opener. The year was 1971. I still remember the energy and power of GFR on stage. Band Maid brings that all back for me.
Kiss ‘78, I was 11. Too many songs to rec, live Onset or Play; MV for Warning or Different.
Right on! I saw Kiss '77 at LA Forum. Amazing entertainment!
No, no, no. No apologies for talking while doing a reaction video. I came here explicitly to hear you talk about what you hear and see when listening to BAND-MAID. That's the fun of it! Ignore the odd complaint from someone unfamiliar with what a reaction video is actually supposed be. Keep up the good work!
Oh, I almost forgot! MISA! MISA! MISA!
My first concert: It doesn't really count because I was in utero, but July 1966 the Rolling Stones in Seattle. my mom was less than a month pregnant with me. First real concert was in July 1982 in Seattle at the Kingdome. Brian Adams, Joan Jet and the Blackhearts, Blue Oyster Cult, Loverboy, and Foreigner. My parent still don't know I lied about staying the night at a friends house. My friend's older brother took a bunch of us. He was our hero! lol. Amazing show. I was 15.
I was a late bloomer I guess for concert going , I was 18 and Molly Hatchet /Blackfoot was my first concert , Need to check out The Warning..Money and Choke live Great songs.
You're going to fall in love with Misa if you're down with Primus
Another great reaction, Tony! You're the first YT reactor I've heard mention that the band synchs up with the drums after Akane's solo. That's something I marveled about immediately, but no one else ever mentioned it. So thank you for noticing that. And it's not only synched beat wise, but they played in tune with her drums.
Quick note about that concert: I believe that "Freedom" video and the prior "Domination" clip that you watched were both filmed at the same gig, in February 2020, at Line Cube Shibuya. One was early during the show, the other near the end. MISA uses a different bass in each one, and also appears to have on more lipstick during "Freedom", so that may be what made you think it was a different show. Looking back, I think that also confused me too, the first times I watched that concert footage.
As for my first concert, well, I attended many free jazz performances in the park when I was a little kid, so I can't honestly recall the first one. Might've been a baby in the early 1960's. I do remember watching a live blues band perform on a river boat in the Mississippi River in 1966, when I was 5 years old. That might be the first one I can still recall.
However, the first rock music show I attended was Queen when I was 14. Blew my mind. Nothing like Queen in concert during the mid-70's. Freddie Mercury instantly became my fave stage performer, and that's never changed.
Great comment. Love the detail of information. Thanks for watching!
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Thank you! Oh one other thing...at 7:20 Akane's drum solo reminded you of some older drummers with her throwback sound. Okay, let me take a guess at that. I saw the Blasters open for a bunch of bands 40 years ago here in LA, and I'm thinking perhaps Bill Bateman?
The audience is the sixth member of Band-Maid. They know when to start, when to stop, polite in between, always on time like you said, and no loud whistling or hooting. Not like other places at all.
First concert. AC\DC 1978 Amarillo, Tx. 13 years old. Bon Scott was great.
Wow! So cool reaction! I love BAND-MAID, they have such beautiful music. You need to do more BAND-MAID reactions.
But also you need to watch some Lovebites songs. They are amazing and they have really cool drammer. You should check them. For examle the song "Holy War".
Thank you for your reaction.
Noticed your Seattle Kraken shirt. Band-Maid will be touring the US and will be in Seattle October 12 at the Neptune Theater although it is already sold out.
I wish I had tickets 🎟
In Chicago at the old Cominsky Park (home of the White Sox) All Day concert with Mahogony Rush, AC/DC, Foreigner, and Aerosmith. I was 12 years old.
First live show: 1989, age 17, Rolling Stones Steel Wheels Tour at the Los Angeles Colosseum. Opening acts: Living Color and Guns 'n' Roses.
Queen when I was 17 in 1984 Wembley Arena, London, UK
The big difference to pretty almost Western rock bands is that these ladies truly are in visibly good mood and happy. It is contagious, isn't it?

First rock show was Chase, and I was in 8th grade. I played trumpet in the band, but let's just say my practice habits got a lot better after that show - 4 trumpets screaming in harmony paying rock!
My first live concert was AC/DC during the Thunderstruck tour (1990 or 1991, I think?). I was 19 or 20.
My first live show was Squirrel Nut Zippers and I was 14(ish)... it was a weird time.
Up next for musician... us Madiacs usually recommend the instrumental Onset, because it will blow you away.
Other top tracks are Blooming(MV), Daydreaming(MV), and Manners/Black Hole (Official Live).
Then of course you have the off-RUclips classics: Puzzle (live), Puzzle (acoustic live), Moratorium (live), and Don't you tell me (live - power trio).
I hope you get hooked, that way we get to see all of it no matter what. Great reaction.
My first concert was Eric Clapton with Carlos Santana as the opening act. 1975 Seattle center Coliseum.
First concert for me was Regurgitator in late 2004 when I was 18. Wolfmother supported them just before they got big overseas.
The British band Family in 1968 when I was 14, with Pink Floyd a couple of weeks later, both at the New Marquee Club in Leeds, Yorkshire.
Yeah, Kanami was beginning her solo with a reprise of the drum pattern because everything connects in a Band-Maid song, no fragments, no throwaways; everything working to serve the song. I agree with those who have recommended the Manners/Black Whole double. MISA the bass player is to the fore in both, and Kanami wrote Black Hole partly to give Akane a challenge (220 bpm).
I saw a few bands live my "first" year. Which was first I don't know, but the first bunch of ones was Camel, Manfred Manns Earth Band, Genesis and 10CC.
Not counting my classmartes band in high school... :)
First concert.....1967 age 15. Canned Heat, Grass Roots, and local Houston band Fever Tree, who had a regional hit with "San Francisco Girls"
First live show, Led Zeppelin in Sydney 1972, I was 17.
Akane sometimes gives me Narada Michael Walden vibes.
Cheers!
Great that you praised all members of the band. Akane, Misa, Kanami, Saiki, Miku. And the crowd.
First Show Live...Ramones here in Chile 1992, 18 years Old. Last One Iron Maiden The Legacy of the Beast, 2019.
First concert (rock concert, I assume you mean) Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - 15 yo
[edit] I went to see Jethro Tull right around the same time. Now that I've thought about it, I'm not sure which one was first.
I have no idea what the first concert >ever< would have been - I would have one of my older siblings' orchestra concerts and I probably would have been under 2 yo.
first concert was the band live, and collective soul. it was amazing
was 12 yrs old and saw KISS in Mexico City 1st U.S. show on my 17th b-day def leppard motley crue uriah heep and eddie money on the pyromania tour
18, Chicago, 1974, Atlanta. They were awesome.
If you love bass, you must listen to Band Maid's "Manners" It has a funky bass riff throughout the song you're gonna love.
Thumbs up.👍 I am grateful for everyone who has something meaningful to say about the music. If you are a drummer, your next video from Band-Maid should be "Black Hole". It's an official live video with 2 songs. "Manners/Black Hole". Black Hole is only three minutes long but I guarantee you it will be a surprise😁😁
Sweet. I'm definitely going to do it
On the vocal harmonies, Miku in many of their songs, layers her voice with Saiki's in such a way, you cannot even tell she is doing it. However the resulting vocal is so much fuller than just Saiki by herself. Miku actually is a much more trained vocalist, however she doesn't have the same power that Saiki does.
And you are hearing MISA playing the Lead Line on her bass, according to my daughter who is a music teacher at a middle and high school outside of Austin.
And the second verse delivered by Miku is in her #2 voice. She has at least 4 different tonalities shat she uses in her singing. Including a somewhat low almost growl she uses in a few songs. Some trivia, Miku had messed up the verse in an earlier performance, singing the first verse again, so Kanami at the start of the song came over and mimicked singing the verse with her to tease her, as the second verse came up, she walked over and sat in front of Miku's vocal monitor, and you can see Miku give her the stinkeye. To this day, in performances of this song the other members will gather 'round Miku and stare at as she sings her verse.
Akane - The HAPPIEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD!!!!! And did you notice that all the other members took a knee or sat down and pumped their fists to try to pump up the crowd even more for her solo?
Kanami, short, sweet with a little bit of showing off for the fans.
MISA and Akane, the worlds BEST Rhythm section, BAR NONE.
Now you have become truly aware of the "FULL POWER OF BAND MAID" kudos if you get the reference.
My first live Show was Black Sabbath with Megadeth opening, I was like 11 that day changed my music life
I was maybe 15-16 and it wasn't any big and known band, just some small time punk band that I didn't even know, and don't even rememeber much of. It being almost 20 years ago.
Mine... The Clash 1977. Best first time bassist live... Rocco Prestia
Awesome! I saw the Clash in 1982. English Beat opened. The best headliner/opening act combo I've ever attended.
My first live show that I saw, was Band-Maid in Germany
That's petty cool
My first live show was ZZ Top, I was 18 at the time. Really looking forward to see these ladies in October!
Every once in a while, I like to revisit Tony's reactions. One of the best reactors out there. Keep up the good work
First, love the focus on the rhythm section. Misa and Akane are the beating heart of the band and perhaps the best rhythm section playing today. Second, there are lots of band with great individual performers. Where Bandmaid succeeds (and so many fail) is in the musical composition which uses all of these incredible talents to the best effect of the song. There is never too much or too little of anything in each song. They are crafted to perfection. I am looking forward to seeing them in NYC this October.
Hi from the UK in the 1970s had sandy Nelson let there be drums 🥁 album on vinyl of course 😀
First concert: Whitesnake + Msg at Wembley Arena. I was 12 years old.
The Band maid song that is stuck in my head right now is "endless story" live.itnis kind of emotional they give me what i call "the Happy Tickle" that's where you'll get the short choppy breathing pattern changes almost like it does when you're crying and that euphoric happiness like watching your child preform in the school play
My first concert was Judas Priest's World Vengeance tour in '82. I was 14.
Akane reminds me of a more controlled Keith Moon
First show… Bachman Turner Overdrive, Thin Lizzy, Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band. I was 16 and the ticket was $6.50. (1974)
Great Reaction Tony Band-Maid will be in Seattle this fall but i'm sure they are sold out =( Freedom is one of the Band-Maids milder catchy songs and everyone seams to love it so do i =) If you want something a little faster try "Play" Live from the same concert or maybe the "Blooming" MV ! Thanks
I wish I had tickets to that show
The only drum solo that compares is Animal from the Muppets :))
Akane opts to keep her kit small so she can remain close to the band, secondly she adjusts
her kit sound to keep sustain minimal which gives her an unmistakable sound and Jimmy
agrees as he compared her to Bonzo. by the way my first live was Zep . Welcome to the
world of Band-Maid....
1st concert, KISS 1979, I was 12. It was awesome!
To answer your question. I was lucky enough to have an awesome music loving mother. My first concert was in DC during Prince's Musicology tour when I was 12. I decided I was a bass player that night because Rhonda Smith blew my mind and started an obsession!
Awesome 🎵
My first "real" live show was Gentle Giant, I was 19, it was in Montreal. Maybe try No God official live - you'll get some great MISA!
The live version of Manners is basically a bass led song with the guitars playing backup. You will love it.
