I've heard BAND-MAID being compared to a lot of things, but "death metal" is truely something new 😂. Please google what death metal really is 😉
In fact, they are just my favorite hard rock band in the world.
But I'm glad you seemed to enjoy them.
And I absolutely love both bands, BAND-MAID and Lovebites (also, I'm sorry, no death metal 😉).

I agree with you! BAND MAID is a great hard rock band. With all due respect to BAND MAID, they have nothing to do with metal . LOVEBITES - heavy, power and thrash metal.😊

@@GrayFox14 Well, there are many metal songs in BAND-MAID's repertoire. Usually, people say RINNE, but I would also consider Screaming being a speed metal-if we talk about their older songs.
THRILL is definitely metal, both by the music style and by the content of the lyrics. FREEZER is also metal, as well as REAL EXISTENCE.
With Unseen World, we've got a lot of songs that are definitely from the metal domain. Sense is metal, and Hibana probably also may be categorized as such. Corallium is similar to Screaming in pace, but with all the vocal layers, I don't perceive it as metal, though.
But BAND-MAID rather defies any categorization. BAND-MAID is doing BAND-MAID things in BAND-MAID style, that's the best description of what they do. 🤷‍♂️
But I was really surprised to hear "death metal" being spoken of in connection with FREEDOM 🙄 FREEDOM is plain and classic Rock'n'Roll, that's what I would say about it. Energetic, bouncy, with a lot of groove and fun. A bit simplistic, but that's done on purpose, for the sake of increasing the catchiness. No prog elements, like in many other songs. No bass solo from MISA... although Akane's drum solo in it feels like being right in place.

@@VladimirChupin I respect BAND MAID👍, I still like them, but still they are mostly closer to hard rock. I was fond of BAND MAID at one time, but in a dispute between LOVEBITES and BAND MAID, LOVEBITES won (in my case), because there is real power & thrash metal of the highest standard. I don't consider "Thrill" metal, sorry. 🤗 And when "Freedom" называют is called death-metal, it's fun🤣

Prepare to dive into the rabbit hole of BANDMAID. One of the best rock and roll/metal/funky band out of Japan. Composed of 5 great ladies in their late twenties. The band was founded by the cute little Pigeon in pigtails. The others are a whisky loving barefoot MisAssin. A hard pounding Gorilla that loves to cook. The Icequeen that sometimes goes with the pigeon to bet on horse races and finally the Genius airhead that will shred you to eargasm XD!. I'll let the other Maidiacs fill you in. They have a vast repertoire of songs in their RUclips channel that you need to check out. I'm pretty sure they are not very strict about copyright just as long as you got it from their channel. Enjoy XD!

As any newbie to Band Maid will immediately learn, the Maids have an incredibly large and loyal following. They have won the hearts of people from all over the world. Including men, old and young, women, also young and old. They seem to have struck a cord with just about anyone and everyone that listens to them. And the truly crazy part is, the more you listen the more you fall for these wonderful ladies. We call it the "pigeon hole". Next you should try Domination for another live performance and Warning or Manners for a official MV. Enjoy and welcome to the Madiacs.

In love with main vocalist...so is the lead guitarist! In truth there are a ton of all-female Japanese bands in many genres, so all-female bands aren't the curiosity niche that they are in the west. There doesn't seem to be the same attitude there of bands being predominantly a male thing, unlike in the west. I'd actually go as far as saying the majority of Japanese bands that have gained a western following are all-female. Many would jump to conclusions as to why, but fans of these bands can be just as picky and 'tribal' as they are about western bands, so that's often a lazy assumption.

Nowadays, when I see a band without at least a female drummer and a female bassist, I'm sceptical from the start. The chances are slim that such a band would be interesting. There are exceptions, like ASTERISM with HAL-CA on the guitar being the only girl there, but nevertheless. I'm becoming a sexist.
(ASTERISM would benefit a lot from a female drummer, I'm sure. But the rhythm section there is a family business, so...)

Thanks for a great reaction! As you continue down the pigeon hole, be prepared to experience the following:
    1. Hearing yourself saying, "Band-Maid's genre is.... Band-Maid."
    2. Your favorite Band-Maid song is the next one you listen to.
    3. Your top ten Band-Maid song list has, like, forty songs in it.
    4. Waking-up almost every day with a Band-Maid song already playing in your head (P.E.S. or Persistent Earworm Syndrome)
    5. A different member of the band making your jaw drop in each successive video/song.
    6. Your face hurting from smiling too much..
    7. Excessive joy (see above). Is there such a thing as "excessive joy"?
    8. Sponateous speechlessness during/after watching a Band-Maid video.
    9. Telling everyone that'll listen to you (and some who won't) about Band-Maid.
    10. Sleeplessness: This occurs when watching Band-Maid too close to bedtime (fair warning).
    11. Speeding: This occurs when listening to Band-Maid while driving (again, fair warning).
These are just SOME of the symptoms of becoming a "Maidiac". Results may vary. "Onset" occurs almsot immediately upon contact with Band-Maid. Happily, there is no cure. Be well, stay safe, and keep smilin'! 🕊

Among A-list girl bands like SCANDAL, BAND-MAID, Silent Siren, and Lovebites...there are no rivalries. In fact, many of the members are close friends. For example, MISA of BAND-MAID is good friends with Ainyan from Silent Siren; Haruna Ono from SCANDAL is good friends with Akane Hirose from BAND-MAID, etc.

FROM JAPAN ◆ Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID.
BAND MAID is celebrating its 9th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl who came to Tokyo from a local city of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Five unique and talented girls gathered. The members have not changed, and they are continuing their efforts to improve their playing ability. They are constantly writing new songs and cool songs. Three new songs were released at the end of October.
BAND MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs.
1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014
2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10
3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock
4 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 2020.12
5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful.
6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence
7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02
8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile.
The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best.
9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die.
10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016
11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day .
12 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused.
13 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation".
RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought.
14 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony.
15 Play : A song composed as an instrumental song, but Miku added lyrics as Saiki liked it. With different intros depending on the live.
16 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics.
17 Choose me : An insert song of the concert scene the Netflix movie KATE, they appeared as BAND MAID. Cool rock song.
18 Dragon Cries : The only song produced by Tony Visconti.
It's not their lyrics, but it sings about the future of human society and the earth. Great Heavy Classic Rock .
19 After Life : A homage to the maid cafe and band formation where Kobato worked. BAND-MAID Hard Rock .
20 Corallium : The song that Saiki wrote all the lyrics for the first time. Hip pop style dancing hard rock.
21 Catharsis : A song from Acoustic Live, showing their diversity, and they do their best in every genre.
Added ★ Peace & Love : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock.

I find that female bands in Japan don't seem to be rivals. When they are out of their "music" personas they are humble and respectful. Difference between Band-Maid and Lovebites? Lovebites is more anthemic metal with technically proficient members. The audience is more likely watching in awe during concerts....Band-Maid is riff driven with catchy chorus rock and roll band whose songs can be infused with hard rock, metal, pop, blues, funk, disco, jazz, classical, and progressive sound that reminds fans of the 70's 80's 90's 2000's music that they grew up with. People watching them tend to bop and dance to the groove and usually have huge smiles.

Japanese Rock/Metal bands in general seem to be on friendly terms with each other.

I can't say I would agree with that, but I haven't heard all that many tracks of Lovebites. But the reason is that all 5 to 10 tracks I have heard from Lovebites sound like the same 2 songs to me. Either it's melodic power metal (which I am not a fan of) or more heavy metal with a melodic power metal chorus. I am not saying that that's bad as they clearly do both of these styles very well, but it's not that varied imo. Although they might be able to play whatever they want, since they are clearly talented musicians.
Band-Maid have way more variety from what I have heard (which is probably close to everything), but again I can be wrong since what I heard from Lovebites is not that much since it's not really for me. I typically don't enjoy a lot of power metal and am not a huge fan of the vocals, so I haven't listened to that many tracks. That being said I have a lot of respect for their musicianship and the enthusiasm of their fans can't lie. I have nothing but love & respect for them and their fans, it's just not my type of music.
But I do think it's really difficult to compare them except for both of the bands being Japanese. They play different genres of music and are clearly both really good at what they do. So, from what I have heard, I would say Band-Maid is the more "complete" band (whatever that would mean), but they are both great at what they do and I'm sure fans of both of them are smiling whenever they play. It's just a difference in taste in the end and I'm sure there is plenty of overlap between the fanbases. It's great that both of them (and other great bands like Nemophila) are getting more and more known in the west.

      @@powertothebauer296
I am in no way shape or form putting Lovebites down, I wish I was clearer in my explanation if it seemed to you that I did.
To be clear, I have shifted through basically most genres in music over the years (I'm 37). I still put on a lot of ambient and modern classical music at night to relax before going to sleep and mostly Metal or Rock during the day. But I also enjoy some electronic music as well.
But I typically didn't listen to anything remotely close to Band-Maid for about 20 - 25 years before discovering them. I mainly listened to metal during the day a bit over the least 20 years (and basically didn't listen to anything more radiofriendly for about as long) and most of it the last 10 - 15 years or so has been black, thrash and a bit of death metal. Both bands weren't in any way inside my wheelhouse. I had parts in most Band-Maid songs I didn't like in the beginning as I didn't really like most of their poppy chorusses (I only discovered them last year in March to May or so) and I have still tracks by them that I don't like a lot, but I appreciated their technical ability and stuck with it because of that. I am actually still not really sure why they spoke to me like they did. It shouldn't have worked, but it did for some reason.
That doesn't mean I don't appreciate Lovebites' technical ability, I think they really shine in that aspect. I think the main difference for me is the vocals. I typically am not a huge fan of a lot of power metal vocals for some reason. I think it depends on their timbre. For example, I appreciate Fuki of Unlucky Morpheus a lot as far as technical ability goes, but it really depends on the day if I can sit through multiple of theirs songs or not because her voice tires my ears after a while. The same goes for a lot of power metal bands and that means this also goes for Lovebites. That doesn't mean I think they are bad, far from it. It just means that the style they play (or that I have heard from them) is not for me.
For some reason Band-Maid's Saiki's voice doesn't make my ears tired, I actually really enjoyed it from the beginning. I think it's because she doesn't have that high pingy timbre to her voice. The same goes somewhat for Eye from Mary's Blood. Her voice is somewhat of a mix between Saiki and Fuki/Asami. It's weird because the vocals are usually the part that I gravitate to the least in a song. I love instrumentals and I typically don't listen to lyrics for a long while until I really know the song. Vocals are usually somewhat like an instrument to me (again, I am used to black metal screams), but for some reason it sounds like a deciding factor in this case.
An other thing I don't like as much is melodic power metal choruses (as far as melodies go). They sound really cheesy to me for some reason. I have the same thing with a lot of male power metal, so it's not any of those bands fault. It's just not for me.
Again, I really apologize if I came off as dismissing Lovebites, it wasn't my intent. I would probably not go to a concert of power metal bands in general as I really have hard time listening through full power metal concerts. I have a couple of blu-rays from Unlucky Morpheus because I really enjoy their musicians (especially Jill on violin), but there has been plenty of times I had to turn it off after a couple of songs and there have been times that I could listen to way more before being tired of it.
That being said, I recently heard Lovebites - Holy War and I did enjoy that one quite a bit more as it was more heavy metal and less power metal to my ears. I will keep giving Lovebites a chance every once in a while together with some other Japanese power metal bands (they have plenty) and who knows if I enjoy most of it after a while.
Again I do wish all the best for the band and the fans. They are extremely talented musicians and I have always appreciated them from a musicianship standpoint.
I also wish all the best for them in their search for a way to go forward and finding a great new fitting bassist. I was honestly really sad to read that news even though it doesn't have a lot of impact on me personally. Let's hope they can find a way to make it work because I do believe their fans and the world deserve way more music from them.
      Edit:
As a last note, I do agree that it's funny that you see it the other way around as far as variety in the music goes. Band-Maid songs of 3 years ago sound usually nothing alike their new songs. But I guess that's just me having heard most of their music at this point.
If me saying that I have basically only heard 2 types of songs from them is what ruffled your feathers, I am sorry. That's just whay my untrained power metal ear picks up. I have that feeling with a lot of power metal bands and it's basically what I don't tend to enjoy about power metal. I probably don't know enough about Lovebites to make that claim for sure. I never wanted it to sound like I don't understand people loving this band, I do. Their music style just isn't for me and that's ok.
I still wish them and their fans the best and hope they can keep growing, because me falling in the Band-Maid "pigeon" hole has taught me that there are a lot of talented Japanese Rock and Metal bands who deserve to be way bigger in the west than they are right now and Lovebites is certainly one of them.
If someone had told me a year ago that I would buy 50 or so mainly female Japanese Rock and Metal CD's and blu-rays in the next year, I would have laughed in their face. But here we are after discovering Band-Maid less than a year ago.

The band was conceived by Miko Kobotu (Red rose 🌹 in hair) she’s also the original singer and now second vocalist and rythem guitar. She’s also the main lyricist in the band and the big boss lady. She thought it would be cool to have a look as a band of Maids that rock hard. She herself came up with this since she was a maid in a restaurant in Japan. Now for the Love bites thing that you asked if there’s rivalry? From what I’ve noticed from the Japanese scene is very contrary and different in how they all interact with each other . They bands are very supportive and respectful of each other usually. Sorry , no juicy rivalries here. At least for now. These 2 bands are different genres, Love bites is a 100% Heavy Metal band . On the other hand ,BAND MAID is more of a Hard Rock,Metal and punk pop influenced band. Not to say they don’t bring other genres into there music , they for sure have a lot more variety in their song writing techniques. They are the best Rock band at the moment , they have a catalog of 100+ songs . What can I say , they are the premier band . They have it all 👍

BAND-MAID members are friends with a lot of other Japanese musicians. Notable among them is the friendship between Akane and Kanami and the members of Kami Band from Babymetal. The late Mikio Fujioka was very dear to the heart of Kanami, and both Akane and Kanami attended his funeral.
MISA is very close friends with the bassist from Silent Siren, Ayuna.
Akane is great friends with Haruna from Scandal and Chittiii from BiSH. They have celebrated Haruna's birthday on September 10, 2020, Akane tweeted about it.
Although they themselves complained that they are very shy, and usually at the festivals they don't dare to approach other musicians, thinking they are too great to be bothered by the humble musicians they consider themselves.

This band has a insanely good drummer, a insanely good bassist, a insanely good guitarist, a insanely good singer, a insanely good composer, a insanely good lyricist.
(lead guitarist is the main composer, rhythm guitarist is the main lyricist, their songs are finished by all 5 members)
They have good friendship each other, and they never stop self improvement. They are still getting better. The old ones were already awesome though.
I think they will release some album(s) in this year. I can't help but looking forward them.

Lovebites is more conventional Metal. Band-Maid goes more hard rock. Band Maid can start out the song with a traditionally metal beat, switch to rock, throw in a catchy Pop rock kind of chorus, get the crowd participation pumped like the Punk rockers of old always did... throw in a technically awesome break down with a couple face melting solo's, then a couple more seamless switch ups to elevate and build it all the way to the end... and that's just in one single four minute song. This was number 22 out of 23 songs in the set list at this show. If you're looking for another Japanese group to compare with Lovebites, you should look to Nemophila... they are different, but both Lovebites and Nemophila are firmly within the Heavy Metal genre.

@@paulg-sg I'm not keen on either of those artists and I think NEMOPHILA have a great sound of their own it's certainly recognisable as hard rock. You should probably listen to some of their covers that are very popular and you will see a certain amount of punky NESS coming through. One of the guitarists is from a reasonably well known band called Mary's Blood and they are more metal. This was meant to be a side project for Saki from Mary's Blood but it's just taken off its a bit of a phenomenon.

Congratulations on finding the best rock band on planet earth 🌎 right now!! Your life has just improved for the better and you’ll never be the same as you now carry the joy of knowing you live in a world where Band Maid exists 😀!
As a guy who’s oldest memory is seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, this band is on the caliber of the best rock bands from the 60’s & 70’s (Beatles, Zeppelin, Yes, Pink Floyd, Rush, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, etc) but with their own unique and very creative essence in that special way the great bands have.
Dozens and dozens of fantastic songs or all rock genres - they have few limits in terms of songwriting, composition, arrangements, instrumentation and performance.
    Next try:

Thank you for your reaction. 👏😊But if you allow a little criticism ?! LOVEBITES and BAND MAID are incorrect to compare. 🤗They play completely different music! LOVEBITES play heavy, power and thrash metal. BAND MAID - this is closer to hard rock. The only thing in common between these groups is that there are 5 ladies in each group and all the ladies are talented musicians. 😊
P.S. from Wolfpack 🐺: LOVEBITES are the GODDESSES of heavy , power , thrash metal ! The group was formed in 2016 and in 2018 , LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer GOLDEN GODS Award for "Best New Band" (London,UK). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy.🐺

I don't know what kind of music your are listening to but LOVEBITES and BAND-MAID have nothing to do with the death metal genre. The first one is Heavy/Thrash/Power Metal and the latter is Hard-Rock with different of influences that goes from Pop to Metal, Jazz and Punk.
I think you should really try to listen to a Death Metal band, just to hear what it's all about. 😅
And "Freedom" is one of the catchiest BAND-MAID songs, lately the band has gone even harder and faster. But they do have some slower songs too.
    Thanks anyway for your reaction

No, not rivals at all. Some fans feel compelled to tear other bands down for some reason, but not them. No, these bands in Japan support each other. HARUNA and AKANE are great friends. Also, this is pretty far from Death Metal. At the most basic, BAND-MAID would fit more into a hard-rock genera and LOVEBITS a heavy metal genera, but these bands defy genera...the second you try to categorize them they'll do something totally new and unexpended.

Band Maid is more classic Hard Rock like Deep Purple or Gun and Roses but much more fun
Also they are dressed as maids from Japanese Maid cafes because the founder of the band worked at one b4 the vand and wanted to contrast cutesy outfits with killer rock music
LOVEBITES is the best power metal band I’ve heard since the Eighties and their singer was a siul / R&B singer before band ; never listened to metal and is why she sounds so unique in this genre … kinda like getting Adele to head band but better lol

So, Band Maid is basically pop, punk, and metal influenced hard rock. Lovebites is metal. So Band Maid may do anything they wanna do. And CAN do anything they wanna do. For vocals, check out the two-song live video Manners/Blackhole. The first is a funky rock song, the second is a chaotic pop/punk/thrash metal blend. Hello, and I'm a new subscriber. I thoroughly enjoyed you reaction to Lovebites and was excited to see what your reaction to Band-Maid would be. They really aren't rivals in the sense that Lovebites is a metal band and Band-Maid is a rock band. There are differences between the 2 genres. However both bands are incredibly talented and have their own strengths.
The concept of Band-Maid was thought up by Miku, the rhythm guitarist and 2nd singer (she also writes a lot of the lyrics), who was working in a Maid cafe, popular in Japan. She thought the idea of a hard rock band wearing maid outfits was a cool juxtaposition.
She 1st recruited Kanami, the lead guitarist who brought Akane, the drummer into the band. Akane was a graduate of the Tokyo school of music and knew Misa, the bassist there, and brought her to the band. Miku realized she didn't have the right kind of voice to be the lead vocalist and they found Saike who fit the role perfectly. Initially they didn't tell Saike about the maid outfits until after she auditioned for fear she wouldn't want to join lol.
Kanami writes the music and they develop the songs together. Kanami is a song writing genius in my mind. The more you listen to them critically you'll know what I mean.
There's more history to the band but here a few song suggestions.
    Domination - live
    Play - live
Onset (an instrumental piece) - live
Actually you really can't go wrong on any of their videos.
Oh heck, all of their live stuff are the best to listen to.

Welcome aboard, Everyone! You are embarking on (along with many others - 130 million YT views!) an awesome progressive hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular.
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (bandmaidprime.tokyo) and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s four of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. These two taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ruclips.net/video/__1th7ctgMo/видео.html, and a fun, wonderful live performance in Amsterdam of Miku introducing "Don't You Tell Me" (with MISA & Kanami's great instrumental exchange) and "Turn Me On” (with MISA's solo intro): ruclips.net/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/видео.html. The next one was taken by JT Dayo in LA: ruclips.net/video/4uIYBkAybCI/видео.html, and finally by JOSER8845 in LA: ruclips.net/video/usWZvlGGDSs/видео.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
    Band-Maid members are:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 27 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

And my request to you is to have more BAND-MAID and Lovebites reaction.
LOVEBITES - Swan Song [+Chopin Intro] (Five of a Kind, 21/02/2020)
BAND-MAID / "Catharsis" Acoustic Ver. (Official Live Video)
These two songs will give you a different feeling from what you have felt about them :)

Try Gacharic Spin and the song "I wish I". Look up the English translation...3 main singers. Not angry on the song, but a lot of pain.

Wow, I used to love this band years ago, then the Doll Box singer kicked it up into a stronger sound but she left and the bands sound/style was all over the place again. This incarnation is better, clean sound, consistent rock sound. Ditched the dancers, new lead singer, new drummer, rotate old drummer to guitar and singer where she always wanted to be. Its nice without all the dancer fake energy and weird costumes. The music should speak for its self. I know they got their name from some old anime or character, but it sorta sucks to figure out how to say it.

Loved watching your reaction. As many others have commented, the band is more hard rock, and the band themselves categorize themselves as hard rock. However, they are genre bending, masterfully weaving hard rock, metal, punk rock, prog, etc. to make a unique sound that is Band-Maid. For even a better look at their exceptional stage presence and musicianship please react to their LIVE version of DOMINATION or PLAY. If you want to see a completely different side to them, please react to their acoustic version of CATHARSIS. It's from an acoustic Christmas Day online all acoustic performance. This video is only up on RUclips for a limited time to promote the sale of archived stream of that concert so you should get to it soon if you're interested.

First, props to your videographer. the cutaways are fantastic. Second, a Cheryl fashion channel would play 24/7 at my house. Third, the incongruity of the naked aggression of the music in contrast with the demure appearance of the musicians is what sets this genre apart. It's totally unexpected. This is the only metal/hard rock that I can get behind.

Not sure why you keep saying Death Metal, neither Band-Maid or Lovebites are Death Metal. Band-Maid have many songs with Metal elements, And Lovebites are pretty much strictly a Metal band, just they don't fall in the Death Metal category. This song From band-maid isn't even metal, it's strictly Hard Rock.

Apparently all Rock Music is Metal, and all Metal is Death Metal.
And the Devil is responsible for all of it. : )
Also, that whole conversation about screaming/growling vocal technique has absolutely nothing to do with Saiki's singing.

Thanks for doing this.. never gets old to see people discovering this song;-) It always gives me a double-dopamine rush - the guitar solo lead out from the drum solo, and how Saiki perfectly delivers that rich low tone at the end of every line in the chorus over a disco beat.

I hope you don't take this criticism too harshly, but: what on earth are you calling 'death metal'? 😂 The only thing I can think of is either that you've never listened to death metal before, or your audio setup is distorting the sound so much that you're getting 'death metal' sounds. Either way, I'd classify Band-Maid as a hard rock and pop-punk fusion.

MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 Badass Bass Assassin. Band-Maid are the best Hard Rock band in the world right now. You got 18k+ views in less than 24 hours. The Band-Maid fans came out. The bands in Japan do not compete with each other like the bands do here in the US. Musicians are supportive of each other over there. It's a respect thing. Band-Maid MV's are very good but their official Live videos are 10 times better because you can see how talented these 5 musicians really are in concert and how much fun they have on stage with each other. You have 110+ more songs to react too 🤙🏼You should check out the official Live versions of Domination, Onset, Play, Manners/Black Hole, Real Existence, After Life, Warning, Choose Me and then go back to 2014 and watch the MV'S Thrill, Real Existence, Alone. Then move forward to the MV'S Dice, After Life, Warning, Different, Blooming to get you started. In time one of the Band-Maidiacs or Maidiacs will help you with those hard to find Live links to the songs Don't You Tell Me, Moratorium, Take Me Higher, Turn Me On and Puzzle (both electric and acoustic version) There are a few interviews with Band-Maid that I recommend for you 3 to watch if you really want to get to know our favorite 5 musicians. You can see the 5 distinctive personalities. Enjoy the ride down the Pigeon 🕊 Hole 🕳 🙂🤙🏼

    日本のbandも最高ですが、日本の音楽界には古くから続く演歌(enka)というジャンルがあります。

I just wanted to clarify my original comments. I have respect for both Lovebites and Band-Maid. They are great bands. It is a matter of personal taste as to which band one likes more. Lovebites is more heavy metal and remind me of Iron Maiden (which I like too)... I can listen to many genres as in all types of rock/metal, blues, funk, jazz, dance, alternative, classical, progressive, country, and even disco!! However, I can only listen to each specific genre for a short time before my ears get fatigued. Band-Maid gives me multiple differing genres in each song so that "personally" I can listen to them for a long time. Their songs have high degree of re-listenability. Again, personal preferences and differences are what makes the world go 'round. I bet we listeners like different cars, sports teams, careers...you get the point. The important thing is we respect each other.
