Japan absolutely dominate the world right now when it comes to rock.
The band was founded by the rhythm guitarist her name is Miku Kobato where she worked in a maid cafe before she thought it would be cool to start a band then found the lead guitarist Kanami Tono on youtube and recruited her. Kanami knew an amazing drummer named Akane Hirose and added her to the band and then Akane knew a friend from music school who played the sickest bass you will ever hear named MISA and convinced her to join as well. Thats how the virtuoso rhythm section was formed. Miku realized that her voice was too weak for the heavy rock sound so she decided to add Saiki Atsumi as the vocalist who is also from her agency. Thus BandMaid was born. All of their songs are mainly written and arranged by Kanami and Miku is the lyricist with all of the members adding their own flavor to each song thats why they sound soo good live.
Fun fact: Miku Kobato didnt know how to play the guitar when she started the band. Kanami taught her how to play the rhythm guitar and in just 6 years has become a great player complementing the 3 genuises of the rhythm section Kanami, Akane and Misa. 💙

I’m doing my best to render the new videos from the fault but each one takes about an hour and a half! So as long as I have the time, you’ll get a steady dose of new stuff every day. Of course that will change if I am taking away from home more than I currently am

Just the way you said Thank God there at one point of your review and looked at the ceiling. Is exactly the way I felt when I first saw this band about 2 months ago. I'm a little late to the party myself. I've been a classic and hard rock fan for probably 45 years or more. My last favorite rock band that came out was Van Halen. Finally a group that's playing it all right. And checking off all the necessary boxes for a change These ladies are the real deal. They also sound amazing live. 95% of the male bands out there are not as good as them ! Not only that they can take multiple genres of music and use them all in one song. Their song structuring is incredible, their musicianship cannot be denied !

To catch up with where they are now, you should review two of their most recent MVs from their latest album Conqueror (Tony Visconti asked to produce one of the tracks). Anyhoo "Rinne" (re-incarnation) the last track on the album is seriously heavy, and "Blooming" - both show the developing maturity of Kanami's musical composition. If you haven't done it before, check out the live performance of "Onset" - to get a good idea of their live performances! Good to see you back!

LOL, Glad to see this again. One of my favorite reactions. Since you're back to Band Maid, give one of their latest MVs Rinne (pronounced "reen-neh" ) a shot!
You might know but perhaps some of your viewers don't. Band-Maid appears at Inkcarceration 2020 on July 11th held at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. The prison used in the Shawshank Redemption. They tell me 40,000 attended last year. Band-Maid will finally get the audience they deserve here. And they will be appearing on the Netflix production of "Kate" playing themselves. Potentially exposing our ladies to hundreds of thousands who might not have even heard of them yet. Nice to have you back.
My first Band-Maid song was Thrill. I must have watched it 25 times In a row.
I know I commented a few hours back but wanted to add, your reaction was and is the same as most( I’m a 65 year old metal head/rock) these girls are freaks no way they are this good(all of them) they are old school. I’ve listened to about 50 of their compositions they are old souls channeling real rock. Your reaction was spot on can’t wait for more of your reaction I suggested Moretorium, Take Me Higher, add Onset , I got the DVD of this concert not a bad set thruout great crowd involvement glad your back can’t wait for you to share your journey🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I was at that show. On the left looking at the stage between MISA and Miku. I walked out of the Echoplex talking to myself and l thought l knew what to expect. Regards.
Its sooooooo amazing right??... I love it. This is one of my favs so far but man, I'm in Band-Maid trip for only a few weeks and I'm just blown away by this one and already a lot more... They just can't make a bad song, everything I listen by them I go insane. It's awesome!!

You've gotta check out their songs "Onset" (an instrumental) and "Moratorium". They absolutely kill it live. They're starting to get more recognition over seas, so I'm sure you'll be hearing about them more in the future. But definitely check those songs out.

Finally somebody who does reviews is finally opening up the Band Maid treasure chest. I follow a number of reviewers like yourself on RUclips. And I have suggested too many of them to check this band out. And it's like nobody wants to be the first. You've got to do the official video for the song Thrill ! As you can see they are amazing. You could do two weeks worth of reviews just on this band. And they are well worth it. Leave it to these beautiful talented phenomenal Japanese musicians. To save rock and roll !

If you want to check out how they really started leaning into their musicianship you should check Thrill (one of their first hits that written for them) then Alone which was the first song they wrote and put together themselves. It's like night and day on which song they poured more into.

Band-Maid is at the front of what I think is the hottest scene in music right now, the female Japanese metal scene. Band after band after band, all killer. Nemophila, Mary's Blood, Lovebites, Lonesome_Blue, Little Lillith, Gacharic Spin, Aldious, etc etc etc...they're all amazing.
I have said this to other Band Maid reaction videos. "Welcome to the ranks of Masters and Mistresses".

I swear I've watched this video, like, 20 times (not in a row, lol). It never gets old!
And even though she doesn't sing in English. The band is that good, her vocals are that good. That it really doesn't matter !
There is actually a lot of English but it takes a little effort and time to get through Saiki's strong accent. You will though. I did. Two releases are entirely sung in English. Don't Let Me Down and The Dragon Cries. Seeing this band live in LA immediately catapulted me from enthusiastic fan to out of my mind fanatic. There is no really effective way to describe the experience except to say you become engaged in what's happening in a way that cannot be transmitted via media. They (Miku) engage their audience in a way you will seldom see. It is almost like having a conversation with a great, slightly crazy friend. Miku and cohorts talk with you and to you and never at you. Famous bands who play long sets will usually say "We're taking a break now. Back in fifteen minutes." Miku engages in "magic time" for similar reasons but they don't all leave the stage. And so you don't have that awkward period of empty stage. She is a smart lady. And so is the 810 year old pigeon that rents space in her pretty head.

Love Band Maid. Only discovered them this past summer and found out about them in time to see them in concert in NYC this past Sept. They are awesome live. Definitely my new favorite group. You should check out "Take Me Higher" The riff sounds like Nickelback's "Animal" but the ladies play the hell out of it and you get the bonus of the back and forth between MISA on bass and Kanami on guitar during the solos. ruclips.net/video/vFyYiPDZzdw/видео.html

When I listened to Play at a fes. 3 years ago, I thought it was too simple and monotonous. But later I found it's so suitable for live to arrange freely.

Waiting for you guys to do much more Band-Maid music. Go back to one of the earlier works. Do a review of the official video for the song Thrill. They are an all-around amazing band. Able to take multiple genres not only incorporating them as a band into their music. But multiple genres in each song. There hasn't been a band that has come along in ages. That has really got me into them like Band-Maid. We are probably around the similar age. I will be 55 in May. The last band that I really got into like this was Van Halen. And that's coming from a classic rock / hard rock standpoint. I loved the reactions on your faces when first playing this. I think most of us felt the same way. But at the same time we're so thankful for it. I hope these ladies get a major push in the states in the near future and i hope to see you do more reviews of them !

Nice reaction, I reacted the same as you. I've been totally impressed with their entire catalog of tunes. They are top notch musicians. You were not the only ones to be blown away by this band. Jimmy Page commented about the drummer Akane after seeing the band play live in Tokyo in 2016. He complimented Akane and said she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. Akane was star struck. She later said Mr Jimmy Page-san offered her much encouragement and wanted to snap a photo with her. Not a bad endorsement. You should revisit Band-Maid and their latest album. I did not think it was possible to impress me any further than they already have but I was wrong and they did it again.

Btw I'm gonna say that they broke me cause... yeah since seeing them I've just been going to concerts like a mad man. I've been to 4 (different bands) last november alone.. This year I'm going to my second concert already xD

Band-Maid are the best Japanese band when it comes to switch between Japanese and English. When you read the English words in Miku's lyrics you can actually understand what the song is all about even you do not understand the Japanese words, genius lyricist. All their lyrics are found translated on Internet easy to find.

I never imagined band-maid could top 'world domination' album or this level of performance... but they did. During this lock down, they just practiced more and worked harder, and came up with the best album ever. Their new album unseen world will introduce you to 'unseen world'.

The last 4 are literally insane.
I mean, you can't call this performance insane anymore. And yes. They are still active and will be for many, many more years. They have ballads with blues jazz, rock edge, and/or prog as well.
Try onset or without holding back if you're interested in instrumentals.
They have a lot of different styles they mix in. Youd love don't you tell me or moratorium (live). many others..dice, Rinne, Blooming choose me, you, take me higher. Onset (instrumental live).And some softer songs and ballads..endless story, daydreaming, yolo non-fiction days. Acoustic...anemone and Puzzle.
