Be very glad that you saw BAND MAID in the venue you were at. This concert was held at YOKOHAMA ARENA and has a capacity of 17,000. You may never be able to see BAND MAID in the small venues again. Great for BAND MAID but those of us who saw them up close and personal are missing them already. They have taken flight and are soaring away. Hope they get all the credit they deserve.
During the October '22 U.S. tour, they would post a "thank you for coming" video; the last few notes of "Domination" with the burnout, from that viewpoint behind Akane looking out over the venue. As the tour went on, she started doing "fake outs," trying to get someone to play the last chord too early. Big laughs when someone stepped into the bucket! Later in the tour she started handing her sticks to MISA or Kanami for the last crash, and of course, they would try to fake out the others too! Pure joy and laughter! They have the best job in the world!
Wow! Band Maid are one band that every member is constantly stealing attention from each other. Not in an annoying way. At times Kanam's playing is so outside of the box, then she throws something in that totally reminds me that she is a dirty rock and roll girl at heart. She still loves rock and roll.
The girls were stellar that night. The voices sounded powerful and brave as never before and the instruments sounded immaculate. If Band Maid ever wants to record a live album, Yoko Ari is definitely perfect. Thanks Tony! Excellent video as always.
@@glenkelley6799 Oh I know! I have my copy reserved. I meant a live audio LP like the old days. A "Live and Dangerous" like Thin Lizzy or 'The Song Remains the Same', by Led Zeppelin. I know, it sounds totally outdated in these times of Bluerays, etc. Maybe I'm older and nostalgic.
This rocks so much harder than the album version. Sakai's voice keeps getting better and better. And they are, as always, having so much fun. I may have a new favourite Band-Maid track.
This was a GREAT set but damn it was LOOOONG. Started at midnight Pac time and went until after 3:30am. The longest show they have ever done and they STILL had gas in the tank when they were done. The DVD/BD comes out on March 27th.
AS a lifelong bass-head, that's "where my ears go" too, and it's usually what makes a band catch my attention, as it was with Band-maid. Then finding out she's just about the best-looking bass-player I've ever _seen,_ well ...

Thanks for the great reaction and analysis. It was the dream for most of the band to play at this venue and they all said they were very nervous . They had an 8000+ crowd that night.
Is it just me or is the mix on this performance in particular they did an amazing job… idk if I have gotten better at active listening or just a great mix but I feel like I can distinguish each instrument so well! Either way I feel like this is a vocal and bass led song! A little more than most of their other songs… probably the best Saiki has sounded imo! Great breakdown, especially for a non-musician such as myself!
There was definitely some amount of post-production on it. But I bet it sounded amazing actually in the stadium. Hard to capture that true acoustic sound at times.

What a glorious reaction, I'm in tears for them. I wish they'd catch a break with a major anime and blow up. MISA is so major in this song and I love your attention to her. Best rhythm section in modern hard rock.
If you have Line Cube Shibuya blu-ray concert 2020(February, right before everything shutdown), there's a bonus video of BandMaid preparing for the concert. They rehearse in front of a wall mirror
That is on the backing track, it's Kanami's guitar run through an Eventide H9 Harmonizer. It allows Kanami to back Miku's part and make the sound larger in that section. I've seen/heard them play it in Houston, with Kanami playing that section on her guitar and saw this performance on stream where it's on the track. I prefer how much depth there is when they put it on the track, because of the much thicker sound. They try to bring the complete studio sound, so they will put everything they can't physically play on the track. Unlike some bands, the Ladies HAVE done a couple shows without their tracks and sounded just as good. Once their laptop which ran their tracks went to Moscow, along with Kanami's guitar, and Saiki's shoes that she had bought (requiring her to rent one), it was returned the next day. The other the computer crapped the bed. They just stuck microphones in front of MISA and Akane and went on with the show. I know the second one, once the computer got fixed, they performed the songs a second time with the tracks, to give the audience their full experience.
I saw them for the first time in San Diego in '22, and when they played this song, I specifically watched Kanami as I wanted to know if she'd work the pedals to turn on the harmonizer or leave it to the backing track. It's the backing track (if you watch the White Room version, she plays that harmonized riff only once in the video, fingering the rhythm part instead). And you're right how her playing it makes the part more powerful. Miku's guitar tone isn't quite as distorted or powerful as Kanami's and is lower in the mix. With Kanami playing it as well, it really emphasizes that riff and really brings it out.
Whenever I find myself asking whether someone who's an expert at their craft did something on purpose, the answer is usually "yes". Akane's very particular about her drum sound, she's got a great musical sense, and to my untrained ear she's always had pretty good dynamic control... so if you think she's doing something to give her drum two different sounds, she probably is. This was Band-Maid's biggest show - 10-12k audience, 3 1/2 hours, and maybe the peak performance of their career (so far). They all sounded great, but Saiki in particular was on fire that night. I saw it when it was streaming, amazing show, and it's coming out on Bluray next month.
You should listen to this whole live show, it's about 3 hours and 30 minutes long, there are some amazing musical moments you will want to play over and over.
Thank for keeping the Band Maid coverage going Tony! It feels like a long time since BM put out new songs for reaction but I always love it when you cover them!

The whole playing with pic thing took me a loooooong time to get over. I grew up playing mostly jazz, funk and so on outside of session work. I guess I was the classic jazz snob looking down on pic players. Hey I was young! Ok? Ok! About 25-30 years ago I got a gig working with Björn Ulvaeus (from ABBA) and he wanted me to use a pic on a few songs. Your first reaction to domination you stopped seven times for a 5 minute video. Now, for instance corallium you stopped 10 times in the first minute
So, you went back to a video I did 2 years ago.... counted stops, and then came to this one and provided analytics on stop comparison. Bro, you ok?
@DrumRollTonyReacts I did and I'm fine. It was the second time I watched your Band Maid progression. I just thought it was funny how much you stopped and how much Madiacs don't mind that you stop, but not knowing what Band Maid was at the beginning you just didn't stop as much.
We love you Tony

They really need to downtune this song maybe two steps so Saiki isn't struggling so hard. Would still sound great.
映像のカットが多すぎる、見苦しい、、
Well, that's the correct way to react or do analysis on youtube.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts 僕は、あなたのカットの編集は間違っていないと思います。RUclipsを扱う正しい方法です。見苦しくない丁寧な編集です。
