I finally understand a lot of this dot bs. Easy to understand the way John explains it. One question: if I'm out of hours for the day but at the reciever and use yard move to put the trailer in the door cuz im not on a roadway do I go back into sleeper until I'm unloaded then go to personal conveyance to get to the nearest truck stop or do I stay on yard move until im unloaded and got my paperwork then go to PC? Assuming I can't stay at the reciever to get my rest and have to leave
Once you've bumped the dock and placed your chock, get back in the truck. Put your ELD in Sleeper and hop into the sleeper. No one can force you to be On Duty if you are choosing to Rest. In the Sleeper. Sleeper is sleeper is sleeper. When they call you when the load is done, or you get out because the light is green, when you get your paperwork, etc etc etc that is all On Duty, of course.
Thanks for all the good info John. Got a question for you I work for an ltl company pulling doubles every night, what’s the proper way to hook your safety chain? I heard a lot of ways even my company told us of how to do it and I did my research from the FMCSA book they were wrong.
I'd love the update to this video minus the wind noise through the link and Thank you, you've been a great mentor over this last 2 years getting my cdl and staying legal.
There is also the NTT CDL-no tractor trailer- so you’re covered in your class 5’s with trailers and the tests are easier and can be taken in your setup.
I´m new in your channel..love the way you explain and easy way so every one can learn and remember...one thing i always run to trucker is when they run out of 70 HOS, lots of them dont know they can still work onduty but not drive.it happen in warehouse when unloading and worked 68 hrs out of 70 and still 4 to 5 hrs more need to set in dock..for sure after D/L they can go PC to safe location and take 34 if no recab coming up.AM I RIGHT JOHN.?
Love this video. I'm a new driver and the split sleeper berth rule has been so confusing to me. This is the first time it has made sense, and It really helped to know the intent of the rule and why it was created. It seems like it would be a rare situation to complete both splits at a shipper, but I'm sure it happens alot hence the rule. Every other way it has been explained to me is, you do one part of the split somewhere, then drive and do whatever, then complete the rest of the split before the next day. Is that true? Would that actually work? Also, stupid question.... What do you mean by "validate". I've never heard anyone use that word before 😅

If you add, like in your scenario with 8h sleeper berth and adding 3h in sleeper before your appointment the next evening, does your next day start 10h after 11PM?
Not necessarily. It would depend on what happened at said shipper at 11, how long you were there, and how it was logged, and how much time you had left when you got there. Kind of depends on what exactly you mean by "next day" as well.

Hah, in a lot of trucking jobs, sleeper means 'GET TO WORK NOW' instead of 'sleeper is sleeper'.
Thank you John this is all so helpful

There is no yard move button on the ELD especially on platform science only PC
Hi John been watching your videos quit some time. Have you ever look up into the "Will Pair SB"? Does every company eligible for it? Thank you

I had no idea you could retroactively validate the 2/3 by using an 8/7 sleeper. I knew the rest though
