I have a question I have often wondered. If I am in a daycab and I get unloaded in rural Indiana and there are no hotels/motels between the receiver and my home base, could I PC home? There are some very small mom and pop truck stops along the way but I have been told that I legally can’t sleep in my truck. It may be a stretch but I would say my home is the closest reasonable place.

Love this video. I'm a new driver and the split sleeper berth rule has been so confusing to me. This is the first time it has made sense, and It really helped to know the intent of the rule and why it was created. It seems like it would be a rare situation to complete both splits at a shipper, but I'm sure it happens alot hence the rule. Every other way it has been explained to me is, you do one part of the split somewhere, then drive and do whatever, then complete the rest of the split before the next day. Is that true? Would that actually work? Also, stupid question.... What do you mean by "validate". I've never heard anyone use that word before 😅

After doing my research and watching videos like this here I thought the cop was giving me a break, but now I'm realizing it was basically reaming me! 😡 I'm an idiot that's said "hank you officer I appreciate" not realizing he was probably laughing inside!

Don’t let your company force you to use split sleeper. The company I’m leased to discovered split sleeper advantages from a driver they hired that came from a big carrier. Before that we drove a standard straight 10 and max of 14 daily. After that they discovered that driver performance was severely lacking as the week progressed. And HOS violations were occurring(caught by the company, thankfully). They, sitting in their comfy $1200 office chairs and being able to sleep in their own homes with their families every night, had no clue how hard it was for their drivers to change their daily routines from being either a day shift or a night shift driver to working all different periods of a 24 hour cycle. After the advantages were apparent the loads were being scheduled accordingly, they were very forceful. Constantly keeping us on the spot as to why it couldn’t be done, citing their newfound knowledge. Not everyone is built the same. Not all of us can get proper rest doing it, thus the performance decline as the week went on. If you need to once in a while, great. If you want to, awesome. Just know your limits.

Hi @lanzeharo6610, right now we don’t have the staff to be able to answer all the questions that come up on our social platforms for John. Working on it. He is a consultant for other companies. We started trucking wins to help thousands of small trucking companies all over the country because our passion for helping others and trucking runs deep. We’ve invested a ton of money in what our program provides and feel $100 a month is not to much to ask to have access to John every other week to answer all of your questions. Plus a full ongoing video library to train your entire team and all the fmcsa forms in one spot. Hope you can understand. Come and join our movement, you won’t regret it. John will show you how to generate more revenue and lower expenses over time, guaranteed.

Hi! Thanks for reaching out and for watching John's videos. As you might imagine, there are a LOT of demands on John's time. That's why we set up the membership. But we also set it up with a 14-day free trial for situations like yours. Yes, you need to sign up and put in a credit card, and then you'll be able to get on the next call (John is currently doing a 90-minute call pretty much every other week). While on that call, ask John your question, get your answer, and then cancel your free trial without spending a dime. Obviously, we want you to stay on as a member because John shares a LOT more knowledge in the membership area (recordings, courses, newsletters) than he does on RUclips. But we very much understand if the full membership might not be in the cards right now. So, don't feel bad using the Free Trial for just one question.

I haul cows so we know I’m exempt, but I’ve wondered about reefers hauling beef? If I’m at Blackfoot id salebarn, I’m on map 21 for the last 150 miles getting there, say I take a nap before I load, I must show a pretrip, but it doesn’t say which line to show my pretrip - just that I must show a pretrip. Can I show a pretrip on line 1?

No offense, but you helping a driver get off from a ticket or citation because they couldn't communicate effectively in english, when the actual regulations state that a driver must have a "functional understanding" Of the english language in order to obtain a CDL, isnt a "trucking win". That's a win for the insurance industry. Because that driver is statistically at higher risk for causing an accident because they can't read Warning signs, Construction signs, and general highway directions. So...thanks?

Hey JOHN, how’s it going? My family and I really love your channel and all the information you’ve given. I have an important question that I would very much appreciate if you could give me a simple answer for. We’re a one truck carrier in California with interstate authority, IRP PLATES. We have a CA number also. My question is, can my brother and I maximize our hours of service within California, like team drivers would do going out of state? I asked a highway patrol officer in the commercial vehicle department over the phone 0:32 and he said yes. As long as my ELD shows I’m on duty if I’m in the passenger seat. I asked him what if I start off in the sleeper while my brother drives? Can I come out of the sleeper berth a few hours later and be in the passenger seat on duty later on in the day? And then at the end of the day switch roles and drive home? The CHP officer told me yes several times but I’m not feeling comfortable about it, because to me, it seems like team driving while hauling intrastate. Please respond. Thank you very much.
